IPhone deletes photos after synching!

After synching my iPhone 4 to my computer, all of my pictures get transferred to my computer as a new folder (such as 10/21/11) in the My Pictures section.  But, all the pictures get deleted off my phone!  What's going on? How do I fix this??

What photos?  Photo library (pics synced to iphone from your computer) should still be on your computer.
Camera roll pics ( taken with iphone).  You should be importing them regularly, so they should be on your computer as well..  You can try restoring from backup ( if the pics were on the iphone at the time of the backup).

  • When using iCloud Photo Library: Delete photos after iPhoto-import, or not?

Now this issue may belong into iCloud, iPhoto or iPhone section as well, so I hope it’s ok to put it here …
Before iCloud Photo Library appeared on stage, I would regularly sync my iPhone camera roll with iPhoto. Then (upon iPhotos request) I'd have them deleted from my iPhone. And finally I'd sync back with iTunes - where I had set it to sync "all photos from last 12 months".
However, now I have turned on iCloud Photo Library on my iPhone, and am quite happy so far. Nonetheless - as it still is in beta - I prefer to additionally sync with iPhoto, so as to have my originals safely stored locally.
That said, after importing into iPhoto I wonder if I still should say „yes“ to the "Delete from iPhone" popup? I tested it, and to my surprise all „deleted“ photos remain untouched and available on my iPhone - say in iCloud Photo library! When I agreed to delete them, I expected that they’d all disappear into thin air. But that is not the case.
So what’s happening here? What is the sense of „yes, delete“ when these pics do *not* get deleted then?
Of course I'd *want to keep them* in iCloud Photo Library, but anyway, I don't understand this behaviour at all. And as some friends have asked the very same question, I thought to ask you Apple specialists here. Thank you in advance for giving me deeper insight into Apples actual photo handling secrets.

    No idea about this, anybody?

  • If I select "Delete Photos" after upload is complete, will it delete the entire roll?

I have selected only half of the images on my iPhone to upload in iPhoto.
After Upload it is asking me to "Delete Photos" or "Keep Photos"... Will selecting "Delete Photos" delete ONLY THOSE IMAGES I UPLOADED? And leave the others on the iPhone?

But could the user of the phone just turn on iCloud themselves and get the private notes I wanted to keep from them? Is there a way to permanently delete them from the old phone without deleting from the new phone?

  • Iphone deletes notes after sync

After syncinc to my mac, my iphone deleted 3 years worth of important notes.  Where did they go?  I read about some fixes relating to icloud.  I don't use icloud and never will.   These are confidential notes, so I also don't want them emailed to my email address which happened once, because I check my emails on multiple computers and all of a sudden my private notes appeared at work and at the library and all sorts of places.   How do I use notes and then back them up to the itunes on my home computer only, without having the notes emailed all over the world?

I've resolved my issue through Apple technical support.  I'd like to provide the resolution for the issue so that if anyone happens to have the same problem in the future, he/she may refer to my post here for a solution.
Apple Support had me delete the Yahoo! email account, readd it as "other", and since I could not get the account to authenticate under POP settings, we added the account under IMAP settings.  Upon doing this, all notes (even the ones I wrote when the issue was occurring) "magically" reappeared.
Issue resolved; mods feel free to lock.

  • Iphone4 delete photos after syncing to itunes

I have an iphone 4 w/out ios update. I have synced photos to itunes. itunes shows the amount of photos but I do not know how to access them. Also, all the photos I have synced are still on phone & I cannot delete from phone. It doesn't give me option to delete album or individual photo. Help!

You cannot sync photos TO iTunes. iTunes photo sync is used to transfer photos from a computer to the phone. It does not transfer photos the other direction.
Following are instructions on how to transfer photos taken on the phone to a computer: iOS: Import personal photos and videos from iOS devices to your computer
Regarding deleting photos that were synced to the phone, the following quote is from iTunes: Syncing photos
To delete synced photos and videos from your device
In iTunes, click the Device button in the upper right corner. (If viewing the iTunes Store, click the Library button in the upper-right corner first.)
Click the Photos tab in the resulting window.
Choose "Selected albums" and deselect the albums or collections you want to delete.
Note: To delete all synced photos, deselect "Sync Photos from" and, when asked, click "Remove photos."
    Click Apply.

  • IPhone Delete Photo Library Album

Since my upgrade to iOS 5, there has been a new album in the photos app called Photo Library. This album is an exact copy of an album called "iPhone" that I created in iPhoto on my Mac. Any photos on my Mac that I want on the iPhone, I simply drag to the "iPhone" album and then sync with iTunes. If I turn sync photos OFF in iTunes, I get the warning that all synced photos will be lost on the iPhone, which I accept. After the sync, both the iPhone album AND the Photo Library album are gone from my iPhone. I then turn sync photos ON and sync. BOTH albums come back. I've copied the iPhone album to a new album, deleted iPhone album, re sync and both the new album AND the Photo Library album are back on the iPhone. If I add a photo to the new album on my iMac, then sync with iTunes, the new photo is added to both the new album AND the Photo Library Album. Should I export all my photos then create a new iPhoto library, import the photos back in?

"On the iPhone, every time I take a new photo, the new photo is added to the camera roll, not the Photo Library album."
That is correct.  Camera Roll is where ALL pics taken with iphone are stored.  You should be importing these to your computer regularly as you would with any other digital camera.  You can then organize on your computer and sync them to your iphone, where they will be in photo library.
"The Photo Library album on the iPhone contains 17 photos which are the exact same as the new album (Rich) on my iPhone. During the sync process in iTunes, I check only the album Rich to sync."
    Absokutely correct.
Again. All SYNCED ( from your computer) photos will be in photo library.  If you were to sync 10 albums with 10 pics each, then there would be 100 photos in Photo Library.

  • IPhone deleting photos on its own, not playing music.

First, some of my photos randomly wouldn't play on my iPhone. Then, whenever I tried to play a song, there was a little pink square next to it with a circle around it. I restored the phone, tried to sync it, but it said that I had nothing to restore to from iCloud (although right before I restored it, my phone said that I had a backup that I could use from February 25th). I tried to sync the phone to my computer, but iTunes froze on "Waiting to sync," after I updated my iTunes operating system, and now, when I go to my photos, my phone deleting all of them. The number of photos is slowly going down one by one. I am not a happy camper- about to call Apple and complain because this is ridiculous.

Take the phone into an Apple store and have it evaluated. If it is under warranty it will be replaced for no cost. Out of warranty you can a replacement for $269.00. Had this happen to an iPad and the issue was with the digitizer on the screen.
You could also force a restart on the phone by holding the power and home button until the Apple logo appears. Next option is to do a DFU restore. Best bet is an Apple store.

  • IPhone deletes notes after editing or making a new note?

Hello everyone.  I've googled this to death and cannot find even so much as a hint.  My iPhone (iOS 6.0) today began doing the strangest thing regarding the Notes app.  I'll attempt to explain it as best I can.  I will add that my iPhone is set to not sync notes to iCloud.
I have dozens of notes in the Notes app.  The phone is deleting any edited notes or new notes.  If I am in Airplane Mode (with wi-fi + cellular off), all is kosher.  If I edit an old note or create a new note while NOT in Airplane mode, the phone will delete the note as soon as I hit the "Notes" button in the top left hand corner that returns me to the list.  I have rebooted the phone multiple times, closed all apps out of the multitasking bar, tried with connecting to wi-fi only, cell + wi-fi, cell only.  Same issue.  The new or edited note will remain in the list for a moment, and then with no observable event, just be gone.  The list will update itself to go from 76 to 75, for example.  I have free space on the phone, it is not full.  It will allow me to store photos, videos, and create new alarms.  The issue appears to be isolated to Notes.
I realize I could upgrade iOS, restore the phone, etc. but problems such as this should not arise out of nowhere, especially on something as stable as iOS.  Can someone give me a clue as to what is happening, and how to resolve it?  As you can guess by having dozens of notes on my phone, it's my main note taking apparatus.  I'm fairly crippled without it.

  • Is it safe to delete photo after using for contact

Okay, I took a photo and captured it for a Contact. Now that it is assigned to a Contact is it safe to delete from the Camera Roll? Do I have to leave it in my photo album in order to see it when my Contact calls?

I have erased pictures after I assigned them to a contact and mine remain with the contact. I hope this helps.

  • Delete photos after import into iPhoto

Is it possible to delete the photos on the mac after they have been imported to iphoto?

Yes, if you're running a default Managed Library. In that scenario the file are copied into the iPhoto Library on import.
A Managed Library, is the default setting, and iPhoto copies files into the iPhoto Library when Importing. The files are then stored in the Library package
A Referenced Library is when iPhoto is NOT copying the files into the iPhoto Library when importing because you made a change at iPhoto -> Preferences -> Advanced. (You unchecked the option to copy files into the Library on import) The files are then stored where ever you put them and not in the Library package. In this scenario you are responsible for the File Management.

  • Iphone, delete photos for space.

I'm trying to delete all photos from my iPhone MC921LL/A Version 8.1.2.
I checked I will manually sync as needed.
I've already uploaded to another  Mac Book Pro 2013 late.
I checked that I wanted the photos deleted but they were not.  Instead they were sorted.
I'm having trouble even deleting an individual photo now.
    Any suggestions.

You've posted to the iTunes Match forum, which your question is not related to. You'll get better support responses by posting to the Using iPhone forum.

  • Deleting photos after backup?

Hi. I have over 7,000 photos and am getting an error that start up disk is full. After going to the Apple store I was told to export my photos. I have done that, now how do I delete them from my iphoto on my macbook pro so that it frees up space?

This is iPhoto for iOS, not the Mac.
But to be helpful, what you do is simply highlight the photos you want to delete, right click, and click Trash.  The selected photos will be moved to the Trash in iPhoto (not the trash can in your Dock)
Be sure to empty your iPhoto trash in order to free up disk space.  Right click on the trash can in the iPhoto left sidebar and click on Empty Trash.

  • Iphone deleting photos

Need to find out how to delete a single photo at a time from iphone. HELP! Thanks.

Maybe I have been spoiled by the Zune?
Never heard anyone say that before.
What may seem ridiculous or not, it is what it is. You can't delete music from the iPhone either.
