IPhone deleting my music from the phone....

I am not to sure what is happening but ever since i installed the 2.1 update with itunes 8.0, my phone deletes songs from the ipod... This has happened twice now, the first time it shows in the general tab that the data space is still used on the phones HD, but there is NOTHING in the ipod; says i have no music at all. Then i plug it into my computer and it shows the memory space is being used as "other" not music. So i re-synced my phone and downladed half of the music back. and then a couple days same proble,. shows up as ONE song that i downloaded from iTunes to the phone, and thats the only song i have on the phone.... I am wondering if anyone else is having this problem as well???

same problem here.
I just updated to the new 2.2 firmware on my iPhone 3G, and just a few moments ago, while I was listening to an episode of ExtremeTech with my headphones still attached, I plugged in the Dock cable to the iPhone. The podcast fades to nothing, the screen shows "Sync in Progress", iTunes pops us with the phone, everything looks normal until this part: the capacity bar in iTunes shows that 11.72GB of the 14.64GB capacity [which used to be my music and videos], has appeared orange and been labelled as "Others". My music and videos are gone, and so was that podcast I just listened to before plugging in.
I removed the phone, browsed to the "About" page and the "iPod" section: All is gone. My apps, emails, photos and contacts are what remains. All my podcasts, music, and videos are nowhere to be accessible.
Apple, please help, pronto! 2.2.1 would be appreciated, even though you guys could be on holiday...

I have a new mac and want to sync my phone to the iTunes on it, but it won't let me manually manage without deleting all music on the phone already from another iTunes. is there a way around this?

    The best solution:
iTunes: How to move [or copy] your music to a new computer [or another drive] - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4527
Quick answer if you let iTunes manage your music:  Copy the entire iTunes folder (and in doing so all its subfolders and files) intact to the other drive.  Start iTunes with the option (shift on Windows) key held down and guide it to the new location of the library.
An alternative which is really not what you should have to do, or the way it is intended to be done, if you properly manage your computer and backups:
iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iOS device or iPod to a computer - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1848 - only media purchased from iTunes Store
Sync transfer is one way, computer to device, matching the device content to the content on the computer (except purchased content as mentioned above).  For transferring other items from an i-device to a computer you will probably have to use third party commercial software unless you have an older model iPod. Examples (check the web for others; this is not an exhaustive listing, nor do I have any idea if they are any good):

Do not regard your i-device as a reliable unique storage for your media. It is not a backup device and everything is structured around you maintaining your media on a computer which is itself backed up.

  • If I plug in my earphones to my iPhone 5c I am still hearing music from the phone. Should I be pressing something?

If I plug in my earphones to my iPhone 5c I am still hearing music from the phone. Should I be pressing something?

No this is not normal. It is caused either because there is dust in the earphone port, either because the jack of your earphones is not good (it happens with crappy earphones). Is this happening with the official earphones?
If so, then you might have a hardware issue; (caused if for instance you have let some water in the headphone port).
    hope this helps

  • Ive had a lap top from a friend, she cleared everything off it but ive downloaded itunes and all her music has appeared in the itunes library. How can i delete her music from the itunes library?

ive got a laptop from a friend, she cleared everything off it. ive downloaded itunes and for some reason all her music has appeared in the library. How do i delete her music from the itunes libary so i can add my own music?

In iTunes, select the music you want to delete (⌘+a to select all) and hit Delete on your keyboard.
Also delete the music files in Finder. Also make sure you have your own Apple ID and iTunes account and logged in.

  • HT1766 Recently i had to get a new computer due to my other one crashing.  My question is, i was able to get itunes on the new computer, but it doesnt want to transfer my music library?  How do i transfer the music from the phone to the computer?

Recently i had to get a new computer.  I was able to get itunes on the new computer and itunes did reconize my phone.  BUT, it doesnt want to transfer the music from my phone to the computer?  Can someone help, Please??
    Thanks

File>Transfer Purchases in iTunes will transfer items purchased from the iTunes store.
If you have items from other sources (ripped CD's, etc.) on the phone, you can't transfer those without purchasing 3rd party software.
Restore the backup of your old computer or just copy the data from the old computer to the new one.

  • How can I delete my music from the iCloud that is now on my phone?

After downloading the new update, ALL of my 1500 songs from the iCloud are now on my phone. I have over 300 kid songs because I am a teacher and I really don't want all of them on my personal phone. I have joined iTunes Match to try to get rid of them. Everytime I hide or delete them, they are still on my phone. When I sync again, they go back on my computer. HELP!

  • Software update iOs 8.1will not update due to lack of storage.  How do I obtain more?  I deleted almost app from the phone.

I am unable to download update(iOS 8.1)  due to lack of storage on phone.  I have deleted most apps and still do not have enough.  What do I do next?

Go to Settings>General>Usage, and see what is taking up so much room. Import your photos to your computer and delete them from the device. Delete text messages that have videos or photos attached to them.
Also, update to iOS 8.1 via iTunes on the computer your sync with. It does not require as much memory to update that way as it does when you do it OTA.

  • Songs won't play after I deleted all music from iPhone once

    Hi,
I'm using iTunes Match on my iPhone and think it's cool but I have a problem: When I used iTunes Match for some time, it had downloaded lost of music to the phone and the phones drive was full. I then deleted all music from the phone (via Settings -> General -> Usage). The problem is that the songs still appear as being on the phone but I can't play them anymore. Also I cannot download them from the cloud again as they appear as still being on the device.
Has anyone experienced that as well?
    Marco

What kind of network are you one when you try to download the songs again? Wi Fi or 3G? From your description it sounds like 3G, and by default being able to download over those networks is disabled. To enable it go to Settings > Store and set "use cellular data" to ON.
Also, even though you delete the actual files from your iPhone you will see the track as being available. All tracks not stored locally on your iDevice will have a cloud icon next to them. To see just the tracks that are stored locally go to Settings > Music and set "show all music" to OFF.

  • ITunes deletes all music from CDs from my iPhone

I recently purchased a new iPhone 6. I transferred all my apps, photos, music etc to the new phone and everything appeared fine. However every time I sync the phone with iTunes all of my music that was not purchased through iTunes (e.g. CDs that I imported into iTunes) gets deleted from my phone. However it does not show up as deleted until I try to play it, at which point my phone skips through all the songs showing a red square next to them. I have iTunes set up to sync my entire music library. The only way I know how to get all the songs back is to delete all music from the phone each time I sync with iTunes and let iTunes copy everything back to my phone (and avoid syncing with my PC unless I really have to). Once re-synced everything is fine until I sync the phone with iTunes again at which point all my music other than iTunes purchases are removed from my phone.

I have had the same problem for two months and have tried many different suggestions with no luck. Have you been given any answers from apple?

  • After trying to delete all music from my iPhone by syncing to iTunes with music unchecked, all of the space formerly occupied by the music is now classified as "other" and is inaccessible. How do I fix this?

Every time I sync my iPhone to iTunes, it messes up my music and I spend 6 hours trying to fix my library and getting my playlists back and getting my songs accessible on both the iPhone and iTunes once again. This is a bit ridiculous. I thought a simple solution would be to just remove all of the music from the phone and then sync back the playlists I wanted. To remove the songs, I went to my iPhone from iTunes, went to the music tab, and unselected to box to sync music. I synced the phone, which should have removed all of the music - which it did, it is no longer on my phone, but when I try to sync the music back onto the phone, iTunes tells me that there is not enough storage space. When I look at the little storage bar in iTunes, the 8GB of space that used to be labelled as "music" is now labelled"other." so I have no songs on my iPhone, and I can't put them back because it thinks the space is still occupied - and it shouldn't be. How do I reclaim the space without doing a hard reset without restoring a backup? That seems to be the default solution to all problems with Apple products, but is really not an acceptable solution - there has to be a better way.

Why?  That's the *best* way.  Have you actually tried it, and determined that the corruption is in the backup file?

  • HT4910 My iCloud contact list does not contain all the contacts that are in my phone.  If I delete one from my phone it will delete it instantly from the iCloud contacts.  But how do I get all those other contacts on my phone to the iCould on my Windows c

My iCloud contact list does not contain all the contacts listed in my iPhone 5S.  If I delete a contact from the phone it instantly deletes it from the iCloud on my PC.  But my PC iCloud list is lacking many of the contacts on my phone.

And which account did you enter these contacts in?
    On My Mac
    or
    iCloud?
