Iphone deleting photos

Need to find out how to delete a single photo at a time from iphone. HELP! Thanks.

Maybe I have been spoiled by the Zune?
Never heard anyone say that before.
What may seem ridiculous or not, it is what it is. You can't delete music from the iPhone either.

  • IPhone deletes photos after synching!

After synching my iPhone 4 to my computer, all of my pictures get transferred to my computer as a new folder (such as 10/21/11) in the My Pictures section.  But, all the pictures get deleted off my phone!  What's going on? How do I fix this??

What photos?  Photo library (pics synced to iphone from your computer) should still be on your computer.
Camera roll pics ( taken with iphone).  You should be importing them regularly, so they should be on your computer as well..  You can try restoring from backup ( if the pics were on the iphone at the time of the backup).

  • Iphone, delete photos for space.

I'm trying to delete all photos from my iPhone MC921LL/A Version 8.1.2.
I checked I will manually sync as needed.
I've already uploaded to another  Mac Book Pro 2013 late.
I checked that I wanted the photos deleted but they were not.  Instead they were sorted.
I'm having trouble even deleting an individual photo now.
    Any suggestions.

You've posted to the iTunes Match forum, which your question is not related to. You'll get better support responses by posting to the Using iPhone forum.

  • IPhone Delete Photo Library Album

Since my upgrade to iOS 5, there has been a new album in the photos app called Photo Library. This album is an exact copy of an album called "iPhone" that I created in iPhoto on my Mac. Any photos on my Mac that I want on the iPhone, I simply drag to the "iPhone" album and then sync with iTunes. If I turn sync photos OFF in iTunes, I get the warning that all synced photos will be lost on the iPhone, which I accept. After the sync, both the iPhone album AND the Photo Library album are gone from my iPhone. I then turn sync photos ON and sync. BOTH albums come back. I've copied the iPhone album to a new album, deleted iPhone album, re sync and both the new album AND the Photo Library album are back on the iPhone. If I add a photo to the new album on my iMac, then sync with iTunes, the new photo is added to both the new album AND the Photo Library Album. Should I export all my photos then create a new iPhoto library, import the photos back in?

"On the iPhone, every time I take a new photo, the new photo is added to the camera roll, not the Photo Library album."
That is correct.  Camera Roll is where ALL pics taken with iphone are stored.  You should be importing these to your computer regularly as you would with any other digital camera.  You can then organize on your computer and sync them to your iphone, where they will be in photo library.
"The Photo Library album on the iPhone contains 17 photos which are the exact same as the new album (Rich) on my iPhone. During the sync process in iTunes, I check only the album Rich to sync."
    Absokutely correct.
Again. All SYNCED ( from your computer) photos will be in photo library.  If you were to sync 10 albums with 10 pics each, then there would be 100 photos in Photo Library.

  • IPhone deleting photos on its own, not playing music.

First, some of my photos randomly wouldn't play on my iPhone. Then, whenever I tried to play a song, there was a little pink square next to it with a circle around it. I restored the phone, tried to sync it, but it said that I had nothing to restore to from iCloud (although right before I restored it, my phone said that I had a backup that I could use from February 25th). I tried to sync the phone to my computer, but iTunes froze on "Waiting to sync," after I updated my iTunes operating system, and now, when I go to my photos, my phone deleting all of them. The number of photos is slowly going down one by one. I am not a happy camper- about to call Apple and complain because this is ridiculous.

Take the phone into an Apple store and have it evaluated. If it is under warranty it will be replaced for no cost. Out of warranty you can a replacement for $269.00. Had this happen to an iPad and the issue was with the digitizer on the screen.
You could also force a restart on the phone by holding the power and home button until the Apple logo appears. Next option is to do a DFU restore. Best bet is an Apple store.

  • Does iCloud erase iPhone delete photos from the phone

    I hope it does

The only connection iCloud has with photos is Photo Stream. That's where the last 1000 photos you took with your iPhone are uploaded into the cloud and synced with your Macs running iPhoto. iCloud does not erase anything from an iPhone, or an iPad for that matter.
Please post back if that doesn't answer your question, or if I misunderstood.

  • How to recover iPhone deleted/lost photos?

I accident delete photo on my iPhone 5,ti it possible to recover deleted Photo from iPhone 5,I never sync my iPhone to iTunes.I often take photo with iPhone,I want to know is it be covered by new pictures, any way to recover iPhone 5 photo directly?

I am so sorry to know that you deleted your photos. But it is not necessary to worry about this. Once you deleted photos from your iPhone, you should not use your iPhone anymore before you recover the lost pictures. Backup photos and other data to iTunes is the best way to avoid data loss from your iPhone.
As I know you did not backup them to iTunes. However, you can still recover them, but the process may be a little complicated. And if you have backup the photos before, it is much easier. With this data recovery for iPhone, you can extract the photos from your iTunes backup files selectively. No need to connect you iPhone to computer, therefore, even you iPhone is broken or stolen, you can recover your iPhone deleted photos.

  • HT201269 I am trying to save memory on my iPhone 4S/ ios6. Can I back up all photos to icloud and the external hard disk I normally use for photos? If I then delete photos from the iPhone do the get deleted on iCloud?

I am trying to save memory on my iPhone 4S/ ios6.
    1) Can I back up all photos to icloud and the external hard disk I normally use for photos? If I then delete photos from the iPhone do the get deleted on iCloud?
    2) Can I back up the newsstand to iCloud and save memory on the iPhone?
    3) Can I back up the bookshelf to icloud and save memory on the iPhone?

    1. What format is the external drive? It sounds like it's ina format that Macs can't write to. Is it a NAS or NTFS?
    2. Easiest thing: just move your iPhoto Library to the external
Make sure the drive is formatted Mac OS Extended (Journaled)
    1. Quit iPhoto
    2. Copy the iPhoto Library from your Pictures Folder to the External Disk.
    3. Hold down the option (or alt) key while launching iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Choose Library' and navigate to the new location. From that point on this will be the default location of your library.
    4. Test the library and when you're sure all is well, trash the one on your internal HD to free up space.

  • How do I recover a deleted photo from my iphone

how do I recover a deleted photo from my iphone?

The iPhone Photo Recovery allows you to recover data by two ways: Recover from iOS devices and recover from iTunes backup. No matter which way you choose, the first step is to download and install the software on your computer. Then follow the way below to get back your data.
Part 1: Directly recover photo from iPhone 5/4S, iPad mini, iPad with Retina display, The New iPad, iPad 2 & iPod touch 5
article: How to recover deleted photos from iPhone.
Part 2: Recover Data Directly from iPhone 4/3GS, iPad 1 & iPod touch 4
Part 3: Extract iTunes Backup to Recover Previous Data for All iOS Devices
This data recovery mode lets you recover not only existing data in the backup, but also those data deleted from your device before you made the backup, as long as they were not overwritten.
Note: Don't sync your device with iTunes when you realize that you've lost data, or the iTunes backup file will be updated after the sync, if you want to recover them through this recovery mode.

Replying to my own post - heh. I downloaded iExplorer (http://www.macroplant.com/iexplorer/) which allowed me access to the files on the phone and there was the phantom movie in the DCIM folder. Deleted it, and all is well - although I still have 0.65gb of Other in iTunes.....

  • Cannot delete photos from  iphone 5 downloaded from pc.  Tried all solutions using Itunes and it doesn't delete them from iphone

Cannot delete photos from iphone 5 downloaded from pc.  Tried the ITunes solution and it does not delete the photos.  Try a second time and Sync doesn't even start

I see the photos tab and "My Pictures" folder shows.  Sync is unselected.  It asks if I want to delete the photos when I click on sync and I said yes but it didn't work.  It does seem that some photos are removed based on available storage left (decreases).  If I select individual folders, subfolders of "My Pictures" then hit Sync deselected Sync doesn't even start.

  • Unable to delete photos from iPhone 5 Model MD655LL/A

My wife needs to free up some space on her iPhone so she can take more photos and videos.  She has an iPhone 5 Model MD655LL/A.  In General > About the device shows a Capacity of 12.7 GB and Available 1.1 GB.  She has 9 videos and 1,488 photos on this phone. She also pays about $4 a month for iCloud storage.
I've connected this device to our Mac and to one of our PCs.  We are unable to remove the photos from this phone.  Upon selecting a photo from any collection, I can see the trash can icon on the lower right, but it is greyed out.
Now, I've read that Apple makes it impossible to delete the photos that are synced to the iCloud.  This makes sense, since the syncing process would add the photo back to your device if it's not detected in the cloud.  Our dilemma is this.  She needs additional space on her phone. She thought that the iCloud service would provide her with additional space beyond the limitations of her phone where she could store photos without using up her phone's storage space.  Based on what I briefly read, it appears that we misunderstood the iCloud storage, at least in this regard.
Here is what I need to be able to do.
    1. Back up the photos from her phone to one of our devices.  Either the Mac or the PC, it makes no difference to me.
    2. Then delete the photos from her phone, but retain them on the device where we backed them up.
I expected to be able to use Windows Explorer on the PC in Windows 7.  But upon connecting the phone to the PC, there is no directory to the phone that shows me the image contents.  Instead, there is a folder under "Computer" named "iCloud Photos". Selecting that shows a message where I expected to see a listing of contents on the device, which reads "iCloud Photos is not enabled" followed by a link "Open iCloud Control Panel".  Selecting that link opens the iCloud dialog, showing iCloud Storage of 182.53 GB of 200 GB available.
Selecting the checkbox next to Photos and choosing the Options button just shows a dialog that lets me choose the iCloud Photos Location on my PC.  But I don't see a list of the photos.
    3.  Where is a dialog that I can use to drag-and-drop in Windows 7 from the phone to a directory using Windows Explorer?
I need detailed, step-by-step instructions for this.  Do we just need to cancel the iCloud account?  The storage doesn't do us any good if upon deleting a photo from the iCloud the syncing process will delete photos from our computers and our phone.  Do we need to configure the iCloud account differently?  Also, how can we tell if a photo is locked in the cloud, and thereby permanently affixed to her iPhone.
Thanks for helping us.  This has been very frustrating.

The "delete after Import" message will not always appear after the import.  It appears, if you are importing from a camera or card, but I do not see it, when I import from a mobile device with iCloud Photo Library enabled and into a System Photo Library, that also uses iCloud Photo Library.
    See the Photos Help:  https://help.apple.com/photos/mac/1.0/?lang=en#/pht6c803201
If a message asks whether you want to delete or keep the photos on your camera after they’re imported, click Delete Items to remove the photos, or click Keep Items to keep them on the camera.
Unfortunately, this Help text does not state exactly, when it will be possible to delete after import and when not.

  • How do delete photos from iPhone but keep them on the cloud?

Is it possible to delete photos from an iPhone but keep them on the cloud? If not what is the purpose of buying extra storage for icloud If you phone can only hold up to 128gb?
finding it hard to get a straight answer on this, so maybe have to go to a local shop and find out.

    Refer to this Faq.
How does iCloud Photo Library save space on my device?
iCloud Photo Library can move the original high-resolution photos and videos to iCloud and
replace them with lightweight, device-optimized versions on your iOS device. This helps you
make the most of your device storage while giving you access to more photos than ever.
You can turn on Optimize [device] Storage from Settings > iCloud > Photos or Settings >
Photos & Camera > iCloud Photo Library on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch. You will need
an Internet connection to access an original photo or video that’s stored only in iCloud.
Yes I want to know the answer too.
If I subscribe to iCloud storage but my iPhone can just hold up to 16 gb.
Why do I have to do it ? to make my iPad see photos from my iPhone?
I did try to disable icloud photo while i had 1gb photos stored in my iPhone
and wipe them out, yes ,nothing left, 0 data. but when I turn on iCloud Photo -
again. everything come back as preview photos but when I look at each, my phone
will download them all anyway. so, how can you manage space on devices actually?
if I have 16 gb on my phone , So I can see all of my 1tb photos on iCloud ?
and have enough space on the phone to do other things right?

  • In Photos - how do I identify and delete photos only on my iphone after upgrading to photos?

Upgraded to photos yesterday.  Connected iphone to mac.  IPhone in the sidebar shows 342 photos "already imported".  I would like to delete those photos on my iphone (as they are already in photos) but cannot see how to do so on either my mac or phone.
Secondary Q - What does the "open Photos for this device" checkbox do?
    Thank you.

I don't see an easy way to delete previously imported items, but these step worked for me. Be careful to make sure you do have copies of all these photos before you decide to delete them again!
    1. Check the 'Delete items after import'.
    2. REIMPORT all the 'Already imported' items.
    3. Open the 'Last Import' album, and delete all those photos.
For your Secondary question, when the "Open Photos for this device" box is checked, that means when you plug in that iPhone, the Photos app will open up automatically.

  • How do I delete photos in my PHOTO LIBRARY (iPhone 4s)?

    MacBook (13-inch, Aluminum, Late 2008)
    OS X YOSEMITE
    Version 10.10.1 (14B25)
    iPhone 4sVersion 8.1.2
    Jello,
I am having trouble with my photos taking up a lot of space on my phone.  I have read many forums and can't seem to find the specific information I need to solve my problem: (when I plug in my iPhone 4s to my MacBook) iTunes shows that I have 943 photos. I can also see this amount of storage on my iPhone 4s (Settings > General > Usage > STORAGE > Manage Storage > Photos & Camera > Photo Library 6.8 GB).
From the forums I have read, what I have done so far:
Deleted all photos from Camera Roll, Recently Deleted and My Photo Stream
Deleted all photos from iCloud/deleted all data from iCloud (Storage: 5.0 GB Available)
    Deleted all pictures from iPhoto
Turned off iCloud for iPhoto (Mac) and Photos (iPhone)
Deleted an old iPod Photo Cache folder (Home > Pictures)
    Deleted all backups from Macbook
iTunes > Photos > Sync photos from > EMPTY FOLDER
There has been no change in the number of photos stated in both iTunes and on my phone.  I have an idea that this problem could be caused by the Yosemite upgrade.  When I upgraded my Macbook to Yosemite, I had a problem with iPhoto where it was not updating because I had moved the previous version's iPhoto library to a different folder.  Once I moved that folder back into the Pictures folder (I guess where it belongs for it to work), the new Yosemite iPhoto began to work and I was asked to create a new iPhoto library (deleted the old version).
Could this 6.79 GB of photos be from the previous version of iPhoto I had on my MacBook before I upgraded to Yosemite?  If so or if not...HOW DO I GET RID OF THESE MYSTERIOUS PHOTOS?

Ok smart ***, I have a Photo Library with some images on it and I did NOT get them on my iPhone by syncing with iTunes. I took them with my iPhone and have never had them on my desktop computer.  When my iPhone was new a friend showed me this feature of making other libraries.  Now I can't figure out how to delete these images since there is no delete function as the other person here noted.  But thanks for the condescending attitude.  That's what we come here for.  Same reason I don't go into an Apple store.  I'm really, really tired of the condescension from the Apple heads.
