IPhone delivering email to wrong account?

Greetings! Just picked up an iPhone over the weekend and most everything is running smoothly...except for one thing...
Just to see how things would go, I added four email accounts to the iPhone...two GMail, one RoadRunner and the one through my work (POP3, non-Exchange, set up here on my home laptop with no problems) I didn't receive any errors during setup or when sending or receiving email...at least none that I can see. As a test, I sent an email from one of my Gmail accounts (from my laptop) to my work email, and the email was delivered to my iPhone...but not to my work account. It was delivered to the "default" account...which wasn't my work account.
Is this how it's supposed to be working...everything delivered to one inbox?
A bit of additional info...I deleted and readded the accounts three times, so it wasn't just a one-time problem. The last time, I deleted all of the email accounts except my work account...and now nothing is being delivered to my work email account, so I have no idea what is going on there.
Any ideas...or education (in case I"m misinformed on how the mail accounts work on the iPhone) would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

Alrighty...here we go.
I have the same result whether I'm on wi-fi or EDGE. I've been on wi-fi all morning and just tested on EDGE before posting this reply. I also confirmed via our webmail access there are indeed, three emails waiting to be downloaded.
All accounts have been deleted except for work. I checked my account settings in Entourage and neither required SSL, so I set the iPhone account's SSL requirements to "Off" for both outgoing and incoming.
I think this might be the problem...but then it would raise another issue. The SMTP server does require authentication, and I entered both my username and password in the Outgoing Mail Server settings. In Advanced, I selected "Password" for authentication...and here's the weird thing...it keeps reverting back to NTLM after I exit out, try to receive and then go back into the settings.
This isn't QUITE driving me nuts yet...but close.
Thanks!

  • Iphone sending emails from wrong address

My Iphone is sending emails from a gmail account I no longer wish to use.  I cannot find any trace of these details on the phone, I have deleted and set up the one I want to use but it is still happening.  I am missing important messages because I send them from the correct details but if people hit 'reply' they are sent to gmail.  Soooooo annoying!

Reboot your iPhone. Then check Settings > Mail > Accounts and make sure the account you no long want to use is either turned off ( if you plan to use it again in the future) or deleted.

  • Mail is sending email from wrong account.

Every time I send or reply to an email it sends from my wifes account.  If people reply to it, it goes back to her account.  when I compose a new email I use the drop down menu that says from: *******@me.com, I make sure its from my account and I send it.  When it gets to the person its says its from my wife.  I have look in the preferences and it is using selected account to send from. I have tried to force it to only send from my account but it always sends from my wifes account.  Any Ideas?

Where is the "Reply to" in Mail preferences?
Not in Preferences. That usually works for a message-by-message basis.
With a message composition window open in Apple Mail make the following menu selection:
    View > Reply-To Address Field.
    If it's blank, fine.
It is possible to make it permanent via Terminal, someone would have had to do it at some stage; just wanted to ensure it was not fixed.
Do check the SMTP servers set for each account.

  • IPhone Mail Sending from Different Accounts

I have taken a look and cannot see anything on this topic - but I am having trouble with my iPhone sending emails from different accounts.
I have 5 IMAP accounts setup for different emails. When I go to send from one account, it seems to send from my GMail account (which is first in my email list), this is also true for when I reply or forward emails from any of the 4 other accounts.
I thought this might be due to the default mail option in the settings, so I changed this to another account but it was still all sending from my GMail account. When I turned the GMail account off - all accounts worked fine independently.
Has anyone experienced this and know if its a setting somewhere? or a problem in general?
    Many thanks

I am not sure - but I have had to disable the GMail for now so that I can send and forward from my other accounts. Its rather annoying that its defaulting to sending from the GMail account.
Do you think deleting the account and then re-adding it will make any difference?

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
In order to change your Apple ID or password for your iCloud account on your iOS device, you need to delete the account from your iOS device first, then add it back using your updated details. (Settings > iCloud, scroll down and hit "Delete Account")

  • My Account Email was Wrong

My iTunes account email was wrong and I corrected it, but it didn't correct itself on my iPad or iPhone and now I can't buy anything. I've synced both of them but the incorrect email is still in my account settings on them. How do I correct this? So I may continue to purchase on my iPhone/iPad without downloading them first on my computer!

  • I am sending an email from one account on iphone 4s but the replies are coming into another account on my phone

I have had an iphone 4s for about a year and have 4 email accounts that come in on it: verizon, gmail, my work, and icloud.  Periodically, I send an email from one account, it shows the message as sent from that account in my sent mail, but the recipient receives it from the gmail account and therefore replies to the gmail.  Has anyone had this happen?  It is almost as if my messages are bouncing into gmail when I send them, although on my phone it shows as having been sent from another account.  I have not had this happen on my computer where I have all of these emails coming in as well.  I thought perhaps it was me not being careful about which account I was sending from when using my phone, but the mail I sent this morning I was very careful to make sure was from verizon, the sent mail on my phone shows it was sent from verizon, and the reply came in on gmail.  Gmail isn't even the default email address- verizon is! My iphone is using version 6.1.3. Does anyone have any ideas? This is a major problem for me so I appreciate any ideas!  Thank you!!!

I am not sure whether this is related, but I had a problem with Gmail where each time I sent and email via my iPhone it would bounce back in my Gmail account as unread. You migh want to check this Google article explaining why this happens and how to avoid it:

  • Can not send email from .mac account from the iPhone

I'm having problems sending email from my iPhone from my .Mac Account and says the outgoing server timed out. Any Suggestions?

This error message indicates you are not using the correct server port for .Mac's SMTP server.
Did you transfer the account settings from your Mac to the iPhone automatically via the iTunes sync process or did you manually create your .Mac account on the iPhone?
If the former, go to Mail > Preferences > Accounts and under the Account Information tab for your .Mac account preferences at the SMTP Server selection, select the Server Settings button below for .Mac's SMTP server.
If 25 is available in the Server Port field, enter 587 in place of 25 and when finished, select OK to save the changed setting and then re-sync your iPhone making sure your .Mac account is selected for account settings to be transferred to the iPhone.

I HAD two accounts because of this problem.  I completely removed the problem account from the Apple Mail client.  Guess what is happening??  That's right - Mail is still sending from the other account that no longer exists on my computer, and I have absolutely no idea how this is happening.  This is incredibly frustrating.  When a recipient chooses to reply to my message, quite often I won't get it now because it is going to the other account that has now been deleted from my system.  COME ON APPLE!!! WHAT'S THE DEAL WITH THIS???

That's what I'd do, since they are all free apps. Be sure & delete in iTunes as well as on your phone. When prompted in iTunes, move all files to trash & empty your trash. You don't want any trace of them left.

Hi, thanks for the answer, I did that already. Unfortunatly this doesn't help me at all, as I often forget to check the menu. For me composing the message is writing the text, the subject, the person to who is addressed and than press "send".
I often forget to check the "from", and this is a problem because the software select itself one of the accounts.
Isn't there a way at least to put as a default a blank field instead of one of the accounts? or an account which doesn't work so if I forget to specify the "from" I will be rnotofied that the message can't be sent.
I guess this could be a rather common problem for many people!
    Thanks

POP does not support synchronization between the server and clients. You will need to use IMAP or Exchange Active Sync if your email provider supports it.

"One of the benefits of Match, right?  Saving hard drive space."
I would not use iTunes Match as a backup. There are too many bugs and I don't think that's what they intended it to be anyway. The main advantage of using it is to make your music available on OTHER devices, not to replace the music on your original computer.
