IPhone Developer software Standard

Ok SO i got the iPhone Developer Software Standard. But having issues activating it in Xcode. So i went to the Developer Portal, and made a certificate for Developing and Distribution, and downloaded them. But every time i click build and run, it says that No Provisioning profiles found for iPhone Developer.
Do i not put a name on the Common name? Because when i do it appears on keychain as iPhone Developer:Ed Kraus

figured out myself

  • IPhone Developer software

i just bought the 99 dollar software. And got an activation email. I clicked on the link to activate it. But how do i use it? Do i get a package in the mail?

    Isn't that all there is?
Have you checked on the developer site?

  • IPhone Developer Program Portal

Im at the portal and it has 7 leftside options:
Home - starting point which has a provisioning assistant button
Team - im the only one anyway so this is easy
Certificates - ive uploaded my CSR and downloaded the issued keys for Developer & Distribution
Devices - Ive registered my device's ID
AppIds - CONFUSING - do i need to create an AppID for each app i want to upload? Or what is this for? And how do i choose its name? because if its required for every app, then i would do something like FirstAppNameXXXX and then for another app i would do SecondAppNameYYYY...but if this is just one ID i need to create it would be diffnt...
Provisioning - CONFUSING - its asks me to create a profile name, check the certificate to use and then an AppID so i guess AppIDs are not optional. So do i need to create an AppID and a provisioning profile for each app i upload?
Distribution - i guess this is the final step...so ill get to it when i clear up the previous 2 which have me a bit confused
I would like to know whats next so i can upload, first a free app, and then a paid version of it.

Follow the process in this pdf...
    iPhone Developer Program
Standard Program Portal User Guide for iPhone OS 3.1 Version 2.5
    • AppID: One for each app is my method, but you can create a global ID if you like...see the PDF above. Not optional if you expect to go into the store.
    • Provisioning is for testing on a device - I use one profile but again, multiple IDs.
    • Distribution is for uploading to the store
I suggest you don't waste time doing two apps, and work to design a free app that has in-app purchasing instead.
Good luck in any case and be sure to check the portal for additional resources, how-to videos, etc.

  • IPhone developer sertificate question

I' ve bought "Iphone developer program standard" and created development sertificate
When I load generated sertificate to keychain it's title became 'Alex Dolton (P7DFFT456H)'
    What is 'P7DFFT456H' ?
Do I need my name Alex Dolton (P7DFFT456H) instead of simply 'Alex Dolton' ?
    Is it correct title ?

    alistamobiles wrote:

Based on that being a 10 character string, I'd say it's the prefix that is part of the App ID.
    From the Portal/Certificates/App ID section:
"Each App ID consists of a universally unique 10 character “Bundle Seed ID” prefix generated by Apple and a “Bundle Identifier” suffix that is entered by a Team Admin in the Program Portal. The recommended practice is to use a reverse-domain name style string for the “Bundle Identifier” portion of the App ID. An example App ID would be: 8E549T7128.com.apple.AddressBook.

  • I have 3dparty software wirelessly with a cryptographic authentication system without my consent (seems to be new technology developed by stanford) obtaining ownership of my iPhone 4s software and controlling it with remote device to jail break. Now what?

I have 3rd party software wirelessly injected and used on my iphone with a cryptographic authentication system without my consent (seems to be new technology developed by stanford and apple security is not updated for this technology) obtaining ownership of my iPhone 4s software and controlling it with remote device to jail breaking my phone, adding and removing software, changing settings all from a remotely controled device from different location (I have a Mac address I'd of this device to know for sure). Almost undetectable. When I look at the legal section of my phone it shows a list of all the unauthorized 3rd party software "as is" copyright encrypted on the phone.  This is the most basic way to legally steal software of any kind.  Because of this legalality 3rd party ownership have total control of certain software correlated with hardware use including visualization technology, etc.  most people luckily will never have this happen to them so it's unlikely many readers have not a clue of what I'm saying currently.  Either way, without needing to obtain specific warranty of any kind "as is" copyright control makes system restores not a solution because the source code is not directly encrypted on the actual hardware device only a copy right notice must appear on the specific device 3rd party software validation making it extremely difficult for me to take control of the situation. Apple claims their iOS technology prevents this type copyright obstruction from being possible, however, according to my phone a new form of technology was used developed by Tom wu of Stanford university called the STANFORD SRP AUTHENTICATION TECHNOLOGY which uses Some form of cryptographic authentication system and uses quote "secure remote password" which seems to suceed in hacking iOS apple technology apple claims is not possible to jailbreak an unstolen phone or without the owners consent As well as loading the device with 3rd party copyright Notices to make all of this legalized. My phone shows atleast 30 pages worth of legalized 3rd party copyright permissions! Yesterday my apple care provider labeled me a jailbreaker and refused to look at my legal documented proof which completely blew my mind because it voides my apple care contract I spent 100 on. This employee did not take all factors into consideration and made quick assumptions as well as verbally speaking to me as I'm an automatic criminal. I left the store yesterday with no payed insurance help on a problem I had no control over and couldn't prevent, leaving with voided contracts. This is an apple users worst nightmare and I have spent days researching all of this like i am some kind of lawyer only to be able to use my phone the way it should and spent alot of money on.  I can legally backup any claim I have just wrote above currently and have a large source of data collected to prove apple is wrong in voiding insurance support on this issue. The problem lies in apple avoiding and not wanting to believe their software can legally be obtained ot "hacked". Yet still labeled a jailbreaker basically.. What should I do????? Been to local apple store 3 times and rebooted my phone as well sprint service restore 4 times and spoke with reps twiice on the phone. Spoke with my phone provider who said apple has full control over these matters so they can't help me.  My case is according to apple "still open"...Anyone else heard of this or of Stanford's office of technology licensing? Maybe I need to buy a blackberry again or just use a landline so I can stop being my own lawyer and focus on other productive areas in life instead of this horrible mess. I shouldn't have to prove to apple I not a jailbreaker they should have to prove I'm one before voiding support I desperately need!!

Yes, I think most of us do understand what open source software is. It sounds as if you don't. Here's some information:
Open-source software (OSS) is computer software that is available in source code form: the source code and certain other rights normally reserved forcopyright holders are provided under an open-source license that permits users to study, change, improve and at times also to distribute the software.
Open source software is very often developed in a public, collaborative manner. Open-source software is the most prominent example of open-sourcedevelopment and often compared to (technically defined) user-generated content or (legally defined) open content movements.

Yes, Tom Wu of Stanford wrote a paper on something called Secure Remote Access Protocol. It's a form of Asymetric Key Exchange and has nothing to do with hacking anything. It's actually intended to protect data.

  • Problem starting iPhone development

I've been following the iPhone developer program user guide step by step, and up until the "Adding Devices" step, everything has gone well.
My problem starts at the step labelled "Installing OS X iPhone"...
I acquired my iPhone 3G just after the July 11th launch, and it came with iPhone Software 2.0 installed, of course, specifically version 5A345. Now the developer guide says to "Download the OS X iPhone Disk Image (.dmg) from the iPhone Dev Center for the Apple device you are using. ", but there is no longer any link to an iPhone Disk Image on the dev center site, I assume because the 2.0 software is now no longer a special download.
The guide indicates that you must use Xcode to detect the iPhone and set it to "Use for Development", which I can do. But then it goes on to give instructions for installing the 2.0 software by restoring the phone using the downloaded iPhone 2.0 disk image, which isn't available off the dev site.
    So, a couple of questions:
    1. Since my iPhone 3G already has version 2.0 (5A345) of OS X iPhone installed, do I need to "restore" to a different version of the 2.0 software?
    2. If so, is the version I need 5A347? Or is it some special development-only version of the software?
I should mention that in my search on the internet for a solution, I read that you could go from version 5A345 to 5A347 of the 2.0 software by using iTunes 7.7 and hitting the Restore button. I tried this, but I get an error message saying:
"Software for this iPhone is not currently available. Make sure you have the latest version of iTunes and try again."
I do have the latest version of iTunes, and I'm a little disturbed that I can't upgrade to the very latest version of the 2.0 software this way. But maybe it isn't needed.
I would prefer not to do something bad and corrupt or brick my iPhone, so if anyone knows what I'm missing or if I can continue without worrying, I'd love some kind of assistance.
    Thanks in advance!

5A345 is the version of the final beta of the iPhone 2.0 software and is what most (if not all) iPhone 3Gs shipped with.
5A347 is the "latest" version and is what original iPhone users that did not participate in the beta received when the iPhone 2.0 software became available.
The SDK instructions are outdated, and the instructions to install a DMG from the development site are no longer needed. Just use the standard iPhone 2.0 software.
5A345 is tagged as being "equivalent" to 5A347 through iTunes, so it's not likely that you need 5A347. However I have spoken with people who have been told by Apple support to upgrade to 5A347 in an attempt to fix a problem they were having. If you want to run 5A347, simply do a a "force restore" on your iPhone 3G: (1) ensure your device is not connected to your computer; (2) turn off your iphone; (3) launch iTunes; (4) press and hold the "home" button on your iPhone while connecting the device to the computer using the cable; (5) iTunes should detect a device in "recovery mode" and offer to download and install the latest version of the iPhone software. Note that your device will be erased, so ensuring that you have a backup before hand is probably a good idea.

  • How long does it take to be an "official iPhone Developer?"

I decided that I wanted to be a iPhone developer a couple of days after the March announcement. So I filled out the contact information, and of course got the reply that the beta program was full.
Fast forward to July 14th, when I got a email from the iPhone Dev folks that my application was being reviewed. It is now July 26th, and I still haven't got an answer back. Does it really take this long to even become a developer??? Can someone get turned down? If so, why? Do you have to tell Apple what you plan to develop?
I have never had to go through such hoops to become a developer for any other platform. You just pay your money and bang there your are, if you even need that. I'm not an official OS X developer because, I really don't need pre-released software.
Also, since all I want to do is just run my own apps on my own iPhone/touch, do you really have to get the official stamp of approval for Apple to get a 'signature"? Do you have to go through Apple to even distribute your apps, even if you may or may not sell them?
Finally, is there anyway to get a file to your iPhone application to read outside of adding it to your application's resources, or create a socket and read it in?
    Thanks,
    edji

I signed up to be an iPhone developer two days ago and today I have my app running on my iPhone. It takes less than a day to get signed up. BUT, you need to watch out for one thing. When I originally placed my order for the $99 SDK I seemed to have checked some tax related checkbox I shouldn't have. The order completed as expected. But 36 hours later I had no email showing the order and I wasn't accepted yet. So I logged into my account on the Apple online store and looked at my order history. Sure enough, my order had a big red flag (not literally) stating I needed to fax in some tax exemption form. What? So I called the 800 number on the bottom of the screen. Since I'm an individual this shouldn't have been required. The guy on the phone sent me over to the small business dept who took care of the issue and the next day I had all my emails showing I was in the program.
So if you sign up these days and it takes more than a day, check your order status.
    Enjoy,
    Rick

  • The best way to get into Mac or iPhone Development?

Hi, Ive been meaning to get into XCode and start developing for Mac and / or iPhone, but because ive been study for exams ive put it off. There finally over and I would love to dive into the development world. Ive done very basic programing before but that was a long time ago. So i guess what im getting at is where is the best place to start. I have no objective C or C knoledge but really would love to learn as I want career in software development primarily with apple products. I mean theirs loads of YouTube tutorials but yet I still get puzzeled. So any tips, advise etc would be much appriciatred

Were you running iOS 7 beta?  If so, as a developer you need to log into the Developer forum for assistance.
Not a developer and running iOS 7 beta?  Then you've stolen Apple's software and will receive absolutely no assistance from this forum.  Enjoy your iBrick!

  • When is Apple going to open up the iPhone Developer Program?

I signed up for the iPhone Developer Program almost as soon as one could sign up for it. I was one of the unlucky many who got the "you are not important enough to let into the Developer Program" e-mail. That was months ago when the rumor was that they would be opening it up around the time of the WWDC. Well, it is now WWDC time. Is there any more info on this?
Why don't I use the iPhone Simulator? The iPhone Simulator does not simulate the accelerometer very well (i.e., it does not simulate it at all) and the accelerometer is important for my app. I can't even tell if my app is feasible without running some test code so that I can get a real world sense of how well the accelerometer works.
Between this and the significant issues that I am having with my MBP and Apple's lack of response, I am starting to feel that I picked a bad time to start doing Apple development.

Excuse me, but Apple clearly has decided that some application developers are more important than others. The App Store is opening up next month and I don't think they will be selling apps that haven't been QA'ed on real devices. Oh, I get it. All of the big name mobile software vendors that Apple wants to display in their App Store just happened to get randomly selected.
"Apple has no way of knowing who has real apps ..." Well, I told them that I did. I even told them that it uses the accelerometers, so the simulator wouldn't help.
You note that Apple says that there are 21k developers in a holding pattern. What is it about the iPhone Developer Program that stops Apple from just taking people's money and issuing them cookies (or whatever) that allows the downloaded SDK to load apps on real devices? Inviting people over to your house to install your app on their iPhone/iPod touch is not a very good distribution model; the App Store is needed for distribution. The limiting factor is the gatekeeper for the App Store, not a SDK that can run code on real devices. So, why don't they freely distribute a SDK that can run code on real devices?
After telling the world "look, a SDK for the iPhone" months ago, why can't Apple even give a date to 21k people who took the time to sign up for the Program when they might be able to run their apps on real hardware?
I want to do things the right way (through Apple's SDK) and I really don't like the idea of jailbreaking, but right now that seems like the only option that I have to proceed with my app development.

  • IPhone Development - Switching Views

First, let me mention that this post may be in the wrong forum, so if that is the case, please let me know to repost.
Next, my question is very simple. I have two views. The first has a button. The second has some text. I want to switch from the first, which loads when the app starts, to the second. This should be pathetically easy, but I have yet to figure out how it's done. At this point, their must be a fundamental problem with the way that I am thinking about how Windows and Views are managed, because based on my current beliefs, I cannot figure the rest out. I have created several "1-View" applications and, for what I am trying to do, have created several Views each of which do what I want them to do. But, I cannot find a way to switch from one to the other. I go to several homemade videos of people doing it, but no two people do it the same way and they all have their own little tricks to getting it done. This leads me to believe that it's not simply a matter of a lack of documentation by Apple, but that Apple doesn't even have a standard. Instead the have several hacked-together solutions that each can kind-of work depending on the situation.
Here is the way I am conceptualizing it and maybe someone can show me the error in my thinking. I create a View-based application for the iPhone. I believe that the AppDelegate class that is created for me appears to really just be a Window/View manager class in that it keeps track of the one and only Window and manages which View is currently being displayed in that Window. Then, there is the MainWindow.xib file which is really confusing, because it simply populates itself with whatever is in the ViewController.xib file. It's never even mentioned in any of the code I am given. I imagine it is mentioned elsewhere, but that is irrelevant.
Now, the ViewController.xib file is used along with Interface Builder to create a View from Widgets and link those Widgets' references and corresponding actions to class variables and methods in its corresponding ViewController.h and ViewController.m files. So, it would follow then, that if I wanted to create a second View, so that when a button on the first view was clicked a new, second View would be shown, I would create a new "View.xib" file and corresponding .h and .m files for it. Then, I have a method in my AppDelegate that takes a UIView object and removes whatever view is currently the subview of the window and adds the parameterized view as the new subview. This is also where I would put my transitions.
Now, the new View that I just created doesn't contain the Title Bar or whatever it's called where the battery monitor icon, carrier icon, etc. exist, so this means that whenever I am actually putting Widgets in the View I have to just remember to avoid it and that the "auto-alignment" thing is off. So, I try other options, and create a new "Window XIB". This blows my freakin' mind, because it appears to be what I want despite it being called a Window and not a View. So, I try the "Write Class File", and it creates a new class called UIWindow which is a subclass of UIView. But wait, aren't Views supposed to be what populates the Windows, and UIWindow is a class that already exists. AHHH!!!!
So, I rename the class to SecondView and create an instance of it in the AppDelegate. Now, I go into the AppDelegate.m file and change "window addSubview:viewController.view" to "window addSubview:secondView.view" (Edit: Brackets aren't allowed, so I am using quotes in their place here.) which doesn't compile, because it is a subtype of UIView which doesn't have a view member variable, only UIViewController does. So, I change it to make it a subclass of UIViewController which has a view member variable, and it compiles and shows a blank white screen of which neither of my views look like. Then, I go shoot myself in the face. It would appear that I need to link the new SecondView class to the SecondView.xib file somehow.
It appears that the AppDelegate class should manage nothing and should only have a single UIWindow object that it loads. Then, the View Controller which has a View object should really have an array of all Views and should populate its view object with the currently needed View. This would make sense except that of all the How-tos I have seen none of them do it this way. I am sure that I didn't say everything that I need to say, but at this point I am so infuriated that I cannot think straight.
    <rant>
I have developed in several different environments, and I have never come across such a simple and common concept implemented in such a convoluted way. Maybe I am simply missing something obvious, here, but if that's the case, Apple please please please make the documentation far less cryptic. I feel like I'm walking blindly through a jungle when I try to read the How-to documentation on your site. If I need to know some information about some class then it is relatively easy to get to, but trying to figure out how to actually do something within iPhone development is painful.
I began trying to develop for the iPhone by just diving in and seeing what happened. That sort of failed, so I began reading your online help documentation and believe I took a step backwards. Finally, I bought a book on Objective-C that concluded with creating an iPhone app. I read it in a few days and now feel that I am rather proficient with the language as well as creating applications on the iPhone as long as they only consist of a single View in the ViewController class. All I want to do is switch from one View to another, and it shouldn't be this hard.
