IPhone dies randomly and in the cold
My (certified pre-owned) iPhone 5 dies at random percentages (mostly at 30%) and at the most inconvenient times. It also dies in the cold and in New England this gets frustrating fast. Is there any way to fix it or get the battery replaced (if it is damaged) (possibly without having to pay for someone else’s mistake)?

To reply to your response, we both woke up to his phone ringing with a call from my phone on the other side of the bed :/! When I checked my phone it had dialed him and two minutes prior a shopping application customer support number which I haven't looked at in over a month. I'm glad it didn't call any other friends or family, but I really need to get it corrected before that happens. Just creepy!

I updated my iPhone 3G today and after the update it said on iTunes that my sim was not compatible and my iPhone screen went on to slide for emergency/connect to itunes. Ive tried restoring it but it hasnt worked. Please help!
Unless the iPhone was purchased as unlocked very recently directly from an Apple Store (the only place in the US where unlocked iPhones are sold, and then only since June), which from the symptoms I doubt is the case, then it was locked to AT&T and jailbroken to make it work with an Irish cell carrier. Updating the operating system has now relocked the iPhone back to AT&T.
Only the cell carrier can institute an official unlock, one which will hold across updates of the operating system, and AT&T will not do so for any reason. All we can advise here is that you return the iPhone to your uncle and purchase an iPhone there in Ireland.

You need to ask your carrier this question. Many of them are offering some decent trade in deals, but it varies from carrier to carrier.

I changed from one iPhone to another and backed the first one up to the icloud. I have restored the content to my new iphone but cannot download the photos. Any advise will be greatly appreciated

Photos and some other items are added back after the restore has completed, you may need to wait a while. -

Possible fix for Australian users on Telstra and using Tango
I'm using the iPhone 5S with iOS 7.0.1 on a contract with Telstra in Australia and have been experiencing the problem with iMessage and FaceTime not activating. My iPhone 4S on iOS 6 worked perfectly on the same network however.
I seem to have now fixed this issue by removing the Tango app (it is similar to Skype). Reading through this thread and seeing the refernces to TuGo triggered my solution, although I believe the 2 apps are entirely unrelated (just have a similar sounding name).
This fix may have been co-incidental, given that I had to wait quite a while for a sync with iTunes to complete. After syncing, I didn't check the settings for Messages and FaceTime to see if they had been activated. I just went straight to the Tango app on the iPhone and deleted it - hey presto, instantly both Messages and FaceTime were activated.
Hope this helps others in Australia who may have Tango installed, and are on the Telstra network.

If the carrier blocked it, that just means the SIM card in it can't be used to make calls or access the data network.
A 4 digit passcode can obviously be broken. How easily depends on the code you used and whether the thief knows anything about you. In all likelihood, the thief couldn't care less about your data. They want the phone, which has real monetary value.
Next time, turn on Find my iPhone. -

IPhone 5 replacement and buying the iPhone 6
So first off, my iPhone 5 recently fell in water and is not working so I was planning on just early terminating my contract, selling it for used parts on eBay, and buying the iPhone 6 but I decided to get a replacement for my iPhone 5. Now my question, is it possible to order my iPhone 5 replacement, then *cancel the contract/deactivate phone as it's being delivered* to me so I use it as an iPod when it arrives to me so I can go and purchase the iPhone 6 on release day without paying the full retail price? If you don't understand, I'll break it down:
- Order replacement iPhone 5
- Terminate contract and deactivate phone during delivery
- Receive iPhone 5 (only to use as an iPod/or sell for profit)
- Buy iPhone 6 for discounted price ($300)"Terminating the contract" tells me you have time left on the contract, which means you are not eligible to upgrade at the discounted price. Putting your old contract back on the line would have the same effect as not terminating at all - you still would not be eligible to upgrade. Dial #874 (#UPG) When are you able to upgrade at the discounted price?
Also, if you do terminate, there's no guarantee you'll get the same number back. The only way to ensure thatyou keep the number is to port to a new carrier, which would terminate the line with Verizon, triggering the ETF. Then port back in to Verizon, but you'd be back to square one anyway, exactly where yo uare today, not eligible to upgrade at the discounted price. -
I Just broke my iPhone 5s screen and I have no more access to any information saved in it. I would like to check my SMS. I was thinking maybe I could check my phone by using iTunes saves... Any clue on how to do?
I managed to set up an account manually on the C7 but I had to trick the email application by entering an invalid email address and password. After it could not find my account it then opened up all the settings and permitted me to add the manual IMAP settings, reply to address and other details. After I committed the settings, the phone recognised the account as a gmail account and it locked down all the settings again so I could not go back and change them if wrong.
I was quite chuffed with myself for seemingly resolving all my issues.....but on using the new account settings I could not sync the gmail sent / bin folders. All the other folders synchronised fine and when I send email it has the correct reply to address. Strangely this matches the best results I obtained when connecting using the Mail for Exchange settings so am no further forward. I am a little confused by this as when I let the phone set up the Gmail account on it's own it can sync everything.....but I just can't
I am now hoping that the new software update (PR1.2) gets email working a little better....well when I eventually get it hehe. -

You MAY need to change a preference if when typing one or two words in the URL/Location/Address Bar sends you to some search page other than the one you expect. To reset your default URL/location bar search provider:
