Iphone disconnection to itunes + start-up  issue

Hello Everyone,
Attempted to upgrade my iphone 4 to iOS 5 but ran into a number of headaches. The initally upgrade stalled numerous times on the "back-up portion" of the upgrade. Fearing the worst, I restored my phone which appears to have created a bigger problem - my phone is blank and will not connect to itunes for system upgrade. what it's currently doing  is loading from spinning circle to the apple logo on infinite loops. i'm running a 10th month old macbook pro, OS is upgrade. I test my UBS with a nano and it works perfectly so the problem is def. comning from the phone. Do you have any advice? I desperately need to get it up and running ASAP.
Thanks a million.
CW

Thank you very much Jan Frydendal and sptrakesh, I didn't know the technique.
By including Default.png, the impression of the start up time was quite improved.
And I would like to know the details about "loading view in chunks".
My app creates subviews in viewDidLoad method now, but is there better way?
Also I would like to know how to load data lazily.
I am afraid the start up time will be slower if the size of the app data increases.

Try runing iTunes in admin mode. That fixed the issue for me. You can either right click on the shortcut on your desktop and choose to run as an admin each time you launch it or go to the advanced tab under security on the program itself and click the run as admin every time.

  • When i connect iphone to PC, Itunes starts and shows iphone.

Then i go to Store and download some App.
How can i go back to show Iphone and load App to telephone?
Do i have to reset PC and start again with iphone to USB connected?
    Enzo

You can just download the app on your phone without need of the computer. You must have Wi-Fi in your house if you could download an app on the computer. Make sure your iPhone is connected to Wi-Fi as well. To download an app on your phone wihout the computer, go into the App Store app on your iPhone and press the Search button (on the bottom of the screen). Then, type in the name of that app you want to download and press Search, then press the button that says Free (it might also have the iCloud logo instead of the Free button). The app will ask for your iTunes password and then the app will download immediately. If you payed for the app already on your computer, it will be free on your phone if you are using the same iTunes account.

I am unable to backup my iphone 5 iOS 6.0.1 (connected directly to laptop USB) with my itunes 11 for Win 7 64bits. The process starts and fails to complete giving the error: itunes could not complete backup of iphone because iphone disconnected.
I have restarted the PC, the iphone, changed the lightining cable and nothign resolves it: backup never completes.

Hi, I disabled the antivirus and the firewall. Same result
I even deleted the backup folder inside C:\Users\...\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup to eliminate any corruption in the old backup files.
Nothing changed: Session either times out or i get the same error message: itunes could not back up iphone because iphone disconnected. It always happens during step 3 out of 4 which is "transfering purchased apps from iphone to PC" and comes after step 2 which is backup.
My iphone 5 is not jailbroken, and is a factory unlocked phone.
    Any other suggestion?

  • Itunes could not sync calendars to the iPhone because the iPhone disconnected

Just went to sync my iphone today and got this message:
iTunes could not sync calendars to the iphone because the iphone disconnected.
Any ideas what the problem might be.  Had not had this happen to me before.
Can't be iCloud because the only thing I use that for is Find My Mac.
Restarted iTunes as well - still get the warning notice.
    Any ideas?

I have the same issue - it just started happening.  Any suggestions out there??

  • ITunes could not synch calendars to iPhone because the iPhone disconnected

Started getting an error message during iPhone synch about two weeks ago: "iTunes could not synch calendars to iPhone because the iPhone disconnected"
    - Am synching to my Outlook calendar on a system running Windows 7
    - Everything else (contacts, podcasts, audiobooks, etc.) synchs just fine
    - Tried totally resetting the iPhone and restoring the firmware
    - Tried deleting the backups, preferences and resetting synch history
    - Tried forcing a rewrite/replacement of the calendar database using iTunes
Nothing sems to work...still get the same message about not synching the calendar due to the iPhone disconnecting, but of course, it really hasn't disconnected since I can get it to immediately synch anything else.
    Any ideas out there? Thanks...

Thanks midwestcraft. I had this problem and your answer solved it for me.
Thought this further info may be of use to some who wants more historic dates in their calendar.
I had "do not sync events older than" unchecked and the input field set to "0". When I changed it to 180, it worked perfectly. I've found that I can increase this number to "545" - anything higher causes the error. This seems to coincide with some strange multiple-entry events in my calendar.
Don't know if this will be a clue for somebody to fix the issue.

  • I purchased an iPhone 3 and had photos on it. Started having issues within 30 days and could replace it. Moved photos to back up on iCloud. did not restore new phone from back up how can i save the new photos and retrieve the old ones?

I purchased an iPhone 3 and had taken some photos on it. I started having issues within 30 days and could replace it. So I created an iCloud account and  saved those photos as a back up on iCloud. I did not restore my new phone from back up because I did not realize I needed to restore and not just activitate it. How can I save the new photos, apps, and other stuff but retrieve the old photos?

If all you want is your old photos, you could backup your new phone using iTunes, then restore it from your iCloud backup, import the old photos to your computer, then restore it from the backup your made in iTunes returning your newer data to your phone.  If you want your old photos on your phone, sync them there from your computer using iTunes.  The process would look like this:
Connect your phone to your computer, when it appears in iTunes on the left sidebar right-click on it and select Transfer Purchases; right-click again and select Backup.
Disconnect from your computer and go to Settings>General>Reset>Erase All Content and Settings to return it to new
Go through the activation setup, choosing to Restore from iCloud backup.  Make sure your phone is plugged into a charger and has access to wi-fi as this can take hours to complete.
When complete, without connecting your phone to your computer, open iTunes and go to Preferences.  On the Devices tab check "Prevent...from syncing automatically"
Now import the old photos to your computer (see http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4083)
When done, open iTunes, right-click on the name of your phone on the left sidebar and select Restore from Backup, choose the backup you made in step 1.
Go to the Photos tab and select the photos you want to sync to your phone and sync.

  • ITunes starts again after disconnecting iPhone4

    Hi y'all,
When I connect my iPhone to my computer (for synching / charging the battery) iTunes will start automatically.
    So far, so good.
But when the work is done (synching / charging the battery) and I disconnect the iPhone and disable iTunes by just clicking the 'X' (above right of the window) then iTunes starts all over again spontaneously.
Can anybody explain what's the use of that ?
    thx in advance,
    Jim

May I conclude that there is no solution on this issue, or is this question just too silly to be answered?
Anyhow, the problem still exists and it's becoming pretty annoying, so please anyone for a solution?

  • ITunes could not sync contacts to the iPhone because the iPhone disconnecte

Has anyone else experienced this? I deleted some groups from address book an now I get this message anytime I try to sync. It's really starting to get to me because the iPhone has in fact, NOT disconnected. At least physically, iTunes thinks it has and so does the phone (the sync in progress message goes away and you just see the battery charging image). The phone still shows in iTunes Devices area. I'm using the newest version of iTunes and iPhone firmware 1.1.3.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks,
    Joe

On the phone with very friendly and helpful Apple reps and managed to troubleshoot/isolate the problem to a corruption in one of the address book entries (But anyone's guess as to which one...)
    To fix:
    1) Export All Address Book entries to a group vCard.
    2) Export each "Group" to a group vCard.
    3) Delete ALL entries.
    4) Reimport "All" vCard.
    5) Reimport "Groups" vCards one by one. As you import each group vCard, recreate the group and drag all entries from "Last Import" into newly created "Group"
    6) Your sync issues should be fixed.
    Hope this helps someone else.
If this makes you nervous, the following temporary fixes both worked until another address book entry was changed:
    1) Reset sync data from within iSync.
    2) Select Replace information on this iPhone from within iTunes. (But you lose any changes made on the iPhone...)
This method lost a lot of the custom fields in my address book including the "Notes" section- luckly I did an address book database backup. No good.
Then I just restored my iPhone and the problem went away. Maybe the database backup export, then deleting everything, then reimporting fixed it. Dunno.

  • Cannot backup iPhone 3GS. Error Message: iTunes could not backup iPhone because iPhone Disconnected. What is the fix for this problem?

Hi, I'm hoping someone can help me find a solution to my problem.
When a backup is attempted, it starts off as if it's working, then stops and the following error message appears: "iTunes could not backup iPhone because the iPhone disconnected". But, the iPhone doesn't really disconnect! It must be some type of internal glitch.
The iPhone is a 3GS and I have mostly pictures and contacts, two songs, a total of 33 apps. The iOS is updated (6.1.6). I do not know if this phone was ever jailbroke. I have been able to backup this phone before, but cannot now. The last backup was 9/21/13, it is now 3/2/14.
Sorry if there is too much info, or not the correct info to find a solution!
Also, I must say that although I am not a tekkie, I've seen many different types of various programs and I find that iTunes is not very intuitive...don't mean to hurt anyone's feelings, just my humble opinion.
    Thank You,
    Camp917

    Hey Lawrence,
A big THANK YOU!! to you! Your suggestions worked!
Before I changed USB ports (more on that in a sec...), I employed one of your suggestions that you gave to someone else with the same problem...and that was to clean the connector on the bottom of the phone with a soft dry tooth brush. I couldn't believe the amount of lint that came out! Especially what was found in either end...had to do some very careful picking. (Almost enough lint to knit a small sweater!!)
Changing the USB port was the second and final step required for a successful backup. My computer is a laptop, and I did have a USB Bluetooth adapter (for another device) installed. I removed  the adapter, plugged the iPhone into that USB port, crossed my fingers...and it worked!!!
Now if I can figure out the rest of this darn program, I might upgrade to a new iPhone!
Again, thank you very much Lawrence!

Itunes does not start automatically when I plug in my iPhone.  When I start it manually, it never recognizes the phone although it does ask if I want to download pictures etc.  Many albums have no art work that use to.  iTunes completely unresponsive to the mouse.
