IPhone disconnects during synching

Out of the blue, my iPhone disconnects during synching. Each time is happens during the synch with contacts.
(I did add new contacts this morning. But I assume that my phone should support adding new contacts??)
Note: The error message says that the iPhone has disconnected, but it is still showing as being docked under 'Devices' in iTunes.

Hey klayon,
Make sure the iPhone is directly connected to the Mac Pro and not plugged into a keyboard, monitor, or mouse. http://support.apple.com/kb/ts1286
You can also try Resetting the Sync History in the iSync application preferences.

You appear to have an iPhone 5. Snipsnap 2.4.2, the current version, says it works on iPhone 5, iOS 5.0 or later. Why do you want an out of date version of the app?

    Regular or smart?
You may need to remove any references to Podcasts, e.g. use "Playlist is Music" instead of "Podcast is false".

  • HT201269 Iphone disconnected during restore.

I just received a new iphone. I went to restore the phone using itunes. During this time my phone disconnected.
I reconnected it and now it is recognised as my phone in itunes and says 'your iphone is up to date' etc, yet my phone is still on the start up screen.
Im not sure whether to click 'restore' again in risk of loosing all my photos etc?

Yours will be a bit different because we can't force the phone to restart by holding both buttons.
You can try and put it into 'recovery mode' which is slightly different from 'DFU mode'
    Try the following:
    1) Let the battery run out
    2) Plug the phone in (so it powers on), do not have the phone connected to a computer as this will try something else
    3) As soon as the screen comes on press and hold the home button (make take 30 seconds)
    4) Wait for it to pop up with a symbol showing to connect to iTunes
    5) Try to restore in iTunes

  • Shuffle keeps getting disconnected during synch

I am having a lot of trouble synching content to my iPod Shuffle (2nd generation). When I put it in its dock, it is recognized right away in iTunes. When I highlight / delete the content on there, there is no problem.
Here is what I'm doing when I experience the problem:
    1. Select music or podcasts in iTunes
    2. Drag these selections over to the iPod icon in the left column
    3. Synching / copying starts, but invariably, the progress bar gets stuck before it gets to 100% and then I get a message that the "disk was not ejected properly" and the iPod no longer appears in the left column of iTunes
    Very frustrating!
    Anybody have any solutions?

By the way, I should say that I'm using an after-market dock since my original one broke.

  • IPhone locked during synch of photos. Can I retrieve deleted photos?

I plugged in my iPhone to upload photos that I had just taken. I selected 'all', imported, and was then asked if I wanted to delete the originals. So far so good.
Then everything locked up. iPhoto froze, and was said to be 'not responding'. I force quit.
When I restarted iPhoto, none of the original pictures had been imported, and only a few remained on my iPhone.
Is there a hidden 'trash' bin in my iPhone? Is there a way of retrieving those 'deleted' photos?
    Thanks

You can try and see if phoneview can see them:

Question...Did you sync before trying to import the photos in question? The reason I ask is that camera roll photos are included in your phone's backup, which is the first thing done when you perform a sync. Thus restoring from backup "may" restore the photos, if they were included in that backup.

  • ITunes could not synch calendars to iPhone because the iPhone disconnected

Started getting an error message during iPhone synch about two weeks ago: "iTunes could not synch calendars to iPhone because the iPhone disconnected"
    - Am synching to my Outlook calendar on a system running Windows 7
    - Everything else (contacts, podcasts, audiobooks, etc.) synchs just fine
    - Tried totally resetting the iPhone and restoring the firmware
    - Tried deleting the backups, preferences and resetting synch history
    - Tried forcing a rewrite/replacement of the calendar database using iTunes
Nothing sems to work...still get the same message about not synching the calendar due to the iPhone disconnecting, but of course, it really hasn't disconnected since I can get it to immediately synch anything else.
    Any ideas out there? Thanks...

Thanks midwestcraft. I had this problem and your answer solved it for me.
Thought this further info may be of use to some who wants more historic dates in their calendar.
I had "do not sync events older than" unchecked and the input field set to "0". When I changed it to 180, it worked perfectly. I've found that I can increase this number to "545" - anything higher causes the error. This seems to coincide with some strange multiple-entry events in my calendar.
Don't know if this will be a clue for somebody to fix the issue.

  • How to stop iPhone automatically disconnecting during an iTunes update?

When I'm updating my iPhone on my brother's laptop or my grandfather's computer iTunes updates my iPhone well, but when I try to update my iPhone on iTunes on my computer, it will say "8 hours remaining" or during the "8 hour" update it will say that my iPhone has been disconnected during the update. I won't even touch the phone and this message would still appear. Can someone please help me because I really want to upgrade to ios 6 and this is the only thing that is in my way. Could this be a problem with my computer or my iPhone?
    Thanks, for future references

Probably a slow internet connection where your at
the update is very large (700mb ish) so it can take a very long time to download (roughly the sice of 250 mp3s for example)
Best bet is to go somewhere where else with wifi (starbucks, mcdonalds, etc) and try the update there

  • My iPad was disconnected during upgrade. I've tried restoring and resetting.  I just did an iPad erase in "find my iphone" and it still shows the itunes logo and the fire-wire cable on the screen with an arrow. It's currently plugged into my computer.

  • HT1351 My iphone was disconnected during a sinc and now has songs that are grey with a red circle and sqare in the middle of it. None of these songs play. tried deleting all the songs and re sincing but to no avail???

my iphone was disconnected during a sink and now many songs are grey and have a red circle with a red square in the middle, they will not play

Thanks, this is not an ideal answer but probably the most sensible one in my case.
I will try it unless someone has a better suggestion, but I'll wait a bit as it will take me a few days anyway (I had actually tried to create a new smaller playlist or download by album, but at this stage the music app is not letting me queue a list of songs for download - I think I will have to disable and re-enable iTunes match which will probably delete all the songs).
I have to say I am not very impressed with Apple here - having an online backup of all your data and beeing able to restore it to a new device easily was a strong selling point of iCloud. For music, they are Definitly not delivering at the stage.

  • Notes: does the iPhone back up Notes during synch?

Does the iPhone back up the Notes during Synch? I can't see any notes on iTunes. Is there a way to see the Notes on the computer? I would like to keep track of my Notes; or some sort of text file/database with secure back up.

Yes. "Backup information includes information such as mail settings, text messages, notes, call history, contact favorites, sound settings, widget settings, certain network settings, and other preferences including settings and data from third-party applications purchased from the App Store." http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1766

  • Why are some of the photos that I have previously successfully synched to my iPhone, no longer synching?

I have a folder in iPhoto specifically for photos that I want to sync to my iPhone. This has worked for years and I've never had an issue. Suddenly, some of the photos from this folder are no longer synching, and I receive an error message during synching that reads: "Some of your photos, including the photo “DSC_0022.JPG”, were not copied to the iPhone “My iPhone 3GS” because they cannot be displayed on your iPhone." The same exact thing has started happening when we sync my husband's iPhone 4. These same photos were previously successfully synched to our iPhones, so....what gives? As an experiement, I dragged one of the photos to the desktop, deleted the photo from within iPhoto, then dragged it back into iPhoto. Then, I re-synched. This worked. But, do I now need to do this with every one of these un-synched photos? Does anyone know what's going on here? Very, very weird. It appears to be happening after the most recent iPhone update, I think. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Chicky, I have searched my computer for "iPod Photo Cache" and 51 folders pop up, plus 3 files (iPodInfo.plist, Photo Database and Image DB Temp.tmp). How do I know which to delete and which to keep? The Apple website page tackling this issue doesn't go into any detail. Thanks yet again.
