IPhone display cracked, Now what?

I think i must have dropped it a grand total of an inch. Unfortunately 1 inch below, was the point of a small 1 inch rock. It caused a minor "ding" in the glass.
As I sat and looked at the ding, I watched the iphone glass literally split right down the middle, all on its own. It was pretty dramatic. Never seen glass do that before. Weird.
Anyways, the phone still works, but the display has a crack down the middle. Are there any warranties or anything like that, which I can take advantage of? Or am i toast ... and stuck with a "uniquely styled" iPhone...

For the time being I would not repair your phone or buy a new iPhone. If you need a phone immediately pick up a cheap, plain Jane phone. It is hard to know how different the 2nd generation phone will be. Anything can happen.. including a subsidized iPhone from AT&T. It is a real long shot but it might be worth it to wait and see. You do not want to put yourself in the position of shelling out the $250 for a repair and a month later be kicking yourself because the 3G phone is out.

They told me to uninstall all apple products off my PC and reinstall and now I'm running into the same issue while trying to download itunes and everything all over again. Back corner of glass is cracked now what?

Had my phone in my pocket while driving. My sons small toy car in the same pocket and it must have been pressed up against my leg while driving. Got home took the items out of my pocket and to my surprise a small crack in the glass. There is a pinhole size mark in the middle of where the crack originated from. *** I thought the glass was stronger than this. Now what can I do.? Any help...

If FindMyPhone was not activated, then you will either have to look for it or report it to Police and hope someone is nice enough to hand it in.

New MacBook, same iPhone... now what?

Hey all...
So I recently purchased a new MacBook pro. I had an old black macbook before. My iphone is synced to the old computer and I don't really know how to change that.
I just plugged in my phone to the new mac and hit "BackUp Iphone to this computer" and it did, (i guess... don't know where the backup goes)
And now when I hit sync, it warns me that if I do so, my iphone will be wiped clean. Which is not something I want to happen if I won't be able to put it all back to rights.
Can someone help me?
I want to get everything onto my my computer. Apps, Music, Photos but I don't know how. And if there's instructions on this site, I'm missing them completely.

Simply copy the entire /Music/iTunes/ folder from old computer to /Music/ on new computer.
That is all you need to do.

Got the 17" HD display , matte, now what, i cant read anything, so tiny

I just wanted the best portable computer i can get, and of course i got the HD display, now i realize it is so hard to read, worse of, when i try changing the resolution it is horrible, i am sure there is some 3rd party application to realy get into it to get a more decent profile setting for the res here.

Furthermore, the number of pixels per inch will continue to increase dramatically over the next few years. This will make displays crisper and smoother, but it also means that interfaces that are pixel-based will shrink to the point of being unusable. The solution is to remove the 72dpi assumption that has been the norm. In Leopard, the system, including the Carbon and Cocoa frameworks, will be able to draw user interface elements using a scale factor. This will let the user interface maintain the same physical size while gaining resolution and crispness from high dpi displays.

Bought App, lost Iphone before sync, now what?

On my Iphone I bought a couple apps. I then lost the Iphone before I could sycn with my computer (because It is a particularly difficult process syncing it with my computer). I got my old Iphone up and running but I want those apps I paid for back. Is their a way I can get them back without having to rebuy them? I tried the "check for purchased" button in Itunes but that doesn't seem to work for apps.
It would be ridiculous for Itunes not having the ability to check my account to see if I bought it and re-download it onto my computer (and then sync it with my iphone).

Since it is an app, you can download it again for free. Pretend to buy it again, and the last screen will show a price button that is marked FREE.
Just an FYI, this only works for apps. Music and videos have different laws about copyrights, and you definitely would have to BUY music and videos again. They pay for each download so it's not unlimited free downloads. It's the same at other online stores such as amazon, rhapsody, napster, walmart, etc.
My advice is to not buy stuff from your phone - only buy from a PC and make sure to BACK UP THE FILES.

Now when I try too connect my iPhone 4 to iTunes on my computer at home an error message comes up saying that I have to unlock my iPhone 4 for it to communicate to my device.
But the problem is that I can't unlock my iPhone 4 because I'm unable to see the key pad and my touch screen no longer responds when I touch it.
I just want to reset my iPhone 4 back to its Factory Settings & start all over from the beginning.
How can I unlock my iPhone 4 with iTunes on my computer or any other option you suggest me trying.

If you have had a "local guy "repair your iphone you will not get any support from Apple for warranty OR post warranty
If Verizon return it to Apple it wil not be handled by Apple
If Verizon also use unauthorised repairers you may be lucky
(Apple do not sell parts to local guys or anyone else )

iPhones require a SIM for activation.
Put the device in DFU mode (google it) and restore via iTunes.

I have no idea what may have caused your MacBook to stop working, but from your description it kind of sounds like it may have started before you ran Software Update and installed the new Apps. Just the general slow feeling and bugginess is what tips me off. You said that you weren't sure if you had closed all open windows, that doesn't matter if the computer restarts itself. It automatically closes all other open applications when restarting.
As to your data being retrievable, if when you take it in they do a fresh install of the OS, then no, it will not be unless you want to pay several thousand dollars to a software retrieval company.
I am glad to hear that you have taken into the Apple Store to get it fixed, and that you have all of your purchased music backed up to your iPod. You should be able to just transfer it all back to iTunes once you get your computer back should it be necessary.
As a side note, the proper place for this topic would probably in the MacBook forums, not iTunes since there is no evidence that iTunes started the issue.

Your contacts are helpd on the server, so if you sign out from your iCloud account and sign into another one they will disappear. If you sign back into the original account they will reappear.
