IPhone doesn't appear in iPhoto - unable to import

I am unable to import photos from my iPhone 3G into iPhoto 8 (v7.1.5).
The iPhone does not appear in the left pane, and no idea why?
Anny suggestions?

I am having the same problem with iPhoto '09.
I wonder if it's caused by MacFUSE cuz I just installed it today.

When I connect my phone it syncs, and shows as being connected in iTunes, but t not in iPhoto. What am I doing wrong? I am trying to get photos and videos off my phone and add them to my iPhoto library.

My iPhone stopped showing up in iPhoto too. Just after the iOS 5 update and Lion and all that. I still don't get what PhotoStream is doing exactly. I ended up hooking my iPhone up to my iPad via the photo adapter and imported them into my iPad, THEN importing into iPhoto. That's ridiculous though. I finally found the way to get this to work again.
To make your iPhone show up again in iPhoto, do this (with iPhone not attached yet):
1) Go to iTunes
2) Go to preferences
3) Click the "Devices" tab
4) CHECK the box that says, "Prevent iPods, iPhones, and iPads from syncing automatically".
5) Click "OK" to close preferences
Hook up your iPhone and now it shows up again in iPhoto. This makes no sense, but that is how to fix this problem.

I restarted my Iphone as the support page recommended, but my Iphone just appeared for a few seconds before it disappeared.
I have updated to the latest version of Itunes and IOS and Itunes is running on a Macbook Air, so the problem is not related to windows.
I can’t find any further help at the support-page, can anybody help me?

My iPhone doesn't appear in iTunes after setting up iCloud syncing

I have an iPhone4 and have updated to ios 5 and have a macbook pro running Lion and have updated that and iTunes. Everything was goig OK but after setting up iCloud syncing I find if I want to sync by usb my iPhone doesn't appear in the devices. Maybe I have done something wrong, but I did usb sync once after all the setting up?

ok, my 3G iPhone doesn't appear in iTunes!!! I have tried reinstalling iTunes, removing the AppleMobileDevice extension, numerous restarts, hard reset the phone a couple of times. I deleted a podcast I tried to download over the air, deauthorised and authorised my iMac. Nothing!
Any other ideas. My phone does appear in iPhoto when opened. I am really lost now. I did change my AppleID recently, is that it?
Please help. I am going to try another Mac this lunch time, see if that helps. Perhaps its the phone?

Yahooo! Its fixed. At the direction of an iPhone Developer (thanks to Steve Troughton-Smith!) I installed (or possibly reinstalled) iPhoneSystemComponents.pkg and now I can sync and so on!

IPhone doesn't appear in the desktop

My PC : HP Elite m9361.ch Vista X64 Edition Familiale Premium
My iPhone : 3GS 16Mo, OS 3.1.2
Itunes : 9.0.2.25
Since few days, I can't see anymore my iPhone under my Desktop (Windows Explorer).
If I connect it to the USP 2.0 port :
OK :
- iTunes see my iPhone, synchronisation is OK, everything is OK with iTunes.
- Application as iPhoneBrowser 1.9.3.0 see it, folder DCIM too,
I can transfer pictures with this application.
- in Devices Managment, I see under Mobile Device "Apple iPhone", it seems OK, in Blue.
NOT OK :
- iPhone doesn't appear anymore in the desktop (windows explorer) when I connect it.
I hear 2 sounds when I connect my iPhone.
I can't see the folder DCIM anymore.
- I can import token pictures on my iPhone with HP Essentiel, Windows Pictures, etc,
but not I choose "Open with Windows Explorer" or "Import Pictures with windows",
I receive an error message.
- I tried to desinstall the driver, and then to reinstall it, but a problem appear:
The driver installation process start, it tells me that drivers are found under Windows update,
but then I receive the error message :
"The class installer has denied the request to install or upgrade this device".
At that point the driver installation apears to be aborted,
Then i have a yellow triangle for this device in the managment console.
However I can communicate with the iPhone with iTunes and iPhoneBrowser for exemple.
I must using "system restore" to recover this bug in the managment console
and to have this device OK (no more in yellow).
Can anyone using Vista X64 tell me :
- About the following registry key :

It shouldn't appear in the finder sidebar, only the iTunes one (and iPhoto too).

Oh my god!! why is it so complicated to do something that simple. Add a feature that lets us add our own mp3 directly in spotify with spotify managing them as itunes would (saving in right directory with renaming etc. Make people use your app instead of itunes) And automatically sync the content with devices. It's just too complicated now.. go to prefs add a custom source folder, put all the songs there.. go back to main screen and try to find the iphone (that never appears, I don't even know how to look for it). I never succeeded in adding my mp3. Now I can't see my device anywhere either. I added the song on the desktop app, but with some pain (first tried with itunes source but that doesn't refresh automatically and even if I restarted the app nothing appeared) so I chose the 'folder' source (quick and dirty way to add songs). I added the song to a playlist and tried to sync with my phone (on the same wifi yes).. no nothing happens, the song is there (on the phone) but greyed out (when I click on it it says content not synced, connect the phone on the same wifi bla bla bla) I don't know why it's so complicated.. From the beginning of spotify it never has been userfriendly, even when the phone appeared in device I always had problems and gave up. Hurry up guys! Apple released there own fully integrated streaming service so if we can't play our songs in the same app we will use the one that let us do that. Hopefuly some day we won't have to do this anymore if the streaming services get common and used by everybody, it will put some pressure on artists and they will see that this is the future. Sorry if I may appear rude.. It's getting late and I'm tired.Keep going guys you're doing a great job. But please fix this asap. I'm starting to have a lot of songs that are not on spotify :( And no I don't want to reinstall the iphone app. I don't want to loose my preferences and have to sync my 10gb songs all over again. Until just recently, connection between iPhone app and Windows (7) app has worked fine. I've been able to sync local files to my mobile device. Since two-three weeks ago it hasn't worked. Some Windows updates have been installed and Spotify app has been upgraded. I know I'm on same WiFi and that the iPhone has memory space for the sync, and I'm doing the exact same procedure as always before. I've also tried on both my jobs WiFi and at home. Any ideas?

Email response on iPhone doesn't appear on OS X Mail or Exchange

When I respond to an email hosted on the Exchange Server using my iPhone, the response indicator shows up in the iPhone but the response indicator doesn't appear in Mac OS X Mail or Outlook. It also doesn't seem to work the other way. When I respond to an email hosted on Exchange using Mac OS X Mail, the response indicator shows up in OS X Mail but not the iPhone Mail. I'm guessing this is not supported by the protocol but I'm wondering if anyone else has thoughts about this as it's a pain to not have this information propagate through the different email systems I use.

Reading a recieved message with a POP account with one email client by itself does not prevent the message from being downloaded and read with another email client. The iPhone's Mail client does not include an option for removing messages from the server when downloaded with a POP account as is available with an email client on your computer such as the Mail.app.
A problem with a POP account is only one email client at a time can access the incoming mail server for new messages and download any new messages. If a 2nd email client attempts to do this while another email client is doing the same, the 2nd email client will be temporarily locked out by the incoming mail server.

Pop email picked up on my iPhone doesn't appear on my desktop

When I pick up my pop email (thru apple mail) on my iPhone, it doesn't appear in Apple Mail on my desktop. I don't delete it and have to rules or prefs that tell Mail to delete it or remove it from the server.
When I use Thunderbird on my desktop, that doesn't happen. In other words, I open Apple Mail on my phone and read my email. Then later I open Thunderbird on my desktop and the mail is still there. Open Apple Mail on my desktop, the mail is gone.
Is there a way to fix this? Just because I read an email on my phone, doesn't mean I don't want it in a folder on my desktop.

I found this answer and changed the troublesome accounts to IMAP accounts and I hope that takes care of it.
Meanwhile, tho, it's odd that Thunderbird didn't have a problem acessing pop mail that had already been picked up. And by the way, I always make everything I want to keep stay on the server. Anyway, here's the answer I got. It seems good.

IPhone now not appearing in iPhoto

My iPhone has stopped appearing as a device in iPhoto when I connect it to my Mac.
When I connect my phone it is supposed to launch iPhoto and then show any phone pics that can be transferred to iPhoto. Until this week this process has been happening without problem.
I have updated to iOS Lion (OS X 10.7.2) for my Mac, and iOS 5.0 (9A334) for my iPhone 4, but this was done several weeks ago.
My version of iPhoto is current.
My phone does appear in iTunes when I connect to my Mac though.
I have been through the Settings for iPhoto and my iPhone but cannot find a problem or cause for this to happen. Any ideas please???

I'm glad it worked out for you. I went to the Apple store, they tried everything I already had, which didn't work for them either. Eventually, we signed out of my usual login on the computer, and went in as a guest. Checked that iPhoto recognized my iPhone as the guest user, which it did, signed out an back in as my regular sign in and voila, iPhoto then recognized my phone. Phew. I don't really want to delete the 1400 pictures I have on my camera. Hope this info might help someone.
