IPhone doesn't print on AirPrint enabled printer

I have HP LaserJet 1536dnf MFP connected to my Apple AirPort WiFi base through a dedicated USB port. Both my Macs (Leopard and Lion) can see it over the WiFi and print OK. My iPhone and iPad unfortunatelly don't see it at all. All devices are running the lates software. Do you know what could cause the problem?

@borisoff,
The information that wjosten posted is absolutely correct.
In addition to their post, I would also like to add that your printer may require a firmware update if  not already updated, for the AirPrint function. You an click the link below visit the HP software and drivers page for you printer.

Choose the operating system you would like to update the firmware through and download the package from the "Firmware" section.

  • Is the Brother MFC-465 CN printer an AirPrint enabled printer?

Does anyone know if the Brother MFC-465 CN printer is AirPrint capable or if there is anyway to use it with an iPad please?

You do not have an Airprint enabled printer, but there are options for you.  You can purchase a printing app in the App Store, such as Print Central and Printopia.  I use Print Central (about $9) and it works great.

  • Spooling a job to an AirPrint enabled printer is extremely slow (HP or Epson)

Spooling a job to an AirPrint enabled printer is extremely slow (HP or Epson).
I am a technical support person for the CEO and other executives of a large corporation.  I've set up AirPrint capable printers in several homes and seem to be coming across the same issue in a number of these homes.  More often than not (the issue is intermittent) when I try to print something from an iPad or iPhone to an AirPrint enabled printer it takes almost a minute for the job to spool.  It doesn't seem to matter how long the document is either as the same thing happens whether it's one page or ten.  At times the iDevice cannot even find the printer even though the WiFi connection is excellent and the network is functioning properly. We have tried HP and Epson AirPrint devices and it happens to both.  When printing from a laptop wirelessly over the network, we do not experience this issue so I don't think it could be a network problem.
In any case, the network setup in these homes is fairly simple.  We have a wireless router, a gigabit switch connected to that which feeds various rooms throughout the home.  The rooms have Ethernet connections and we have APs set up in some of the rooms to ensure full wireless coverage.  In a few of the older home we use PowerLine APs to expand the network.
I've seen others with the same issue but have yet to see a fix.  We've tried updating the firmware on the printers, routers and APs but nothing has helped.
HP Printers we've been using: PhotoSmart 7520, OfficeJet 6700 Premium
    Epson: Stylus NX430
Does anyone have any other advice?
    Thanks,
    Paul

Once the job hits the printer it prints immediately.  It's right after you tap Print on the iPad that takes a long time. There is a box that pops up saying that the job is being processed (don't remember the wording exactly).  Once the box disappears it also takes a bit of time for the job to hit the printer.
The actual process of the printer printing is normal.
Also, in some cases the iPad won't even see that there is a printer connected to the network even though the printer is powered on, online and the iPad is connected to the home network.  Usually a reboot of the printer fixes this problem.
    Thanks

  • Is it possible to print from my iPad to a Airprint-enabled printer in a wired LAN.

Is it possible to print from my iPad to a Airprint-enabled printer in a wired LAN? My iPad is via WiFi connected to that LAN. The WiFi connection of the printer isn't used.

My Canon MX715 printer is wired connected to the router. My iPad is via WiFi connected to the router.
The printer could be connected via WiFi but I prefer the wired connection. So the printer is part of the LAN to which I get access with my iPad via a WiFi connection. A network scanner shows them all  connected into the LAN.
My Windows Laptop also connected via WiFi to the same LAN finds the printer and works well every time.
The iPad has troubles to find the printer.
After a couples of hours by trial and error I found an app of Canon Easy PhotoPrint. After I installed the app I found my printer and could print. It worked for the apps at my iPad that have the print feature. After a while I discovered that the different apps at my iPad don't find the printer immediately every time when needed. After multiple trials it works again.
So the big question that remains: Why doesn't it works always? Have I initialize something after start up or wake up the print access to the Lan?

  • Why can I no longer print to my AirPrint enabled printer when I used to be able to do so?

I used to be able to print on my AirPrint enabled printer. After returning from vacation I am no longer able to do so, yet my husband's iPad will. I have gone thorough all the steps suggested in troubleshooting tips, to no avail. Any help?

Try restating your iPad and turn the power to your printer off and back on again. Maybe this will reset your system.

  • I can't print from iPad 2 to my AirPrint enabled printer

Hi, I'd be grateful for some help on printing from Ipad 2. I have a compatible printer (HP - B210A) and my iPhone 4 picks it up and prints perfectly, as does my PC. However, I cannot get my iPad 2 to find the printer. As far as I can see the process for printing from iPhone 4 and iPad 2 are identical but only one works. Does anybody have any suggestions please?

    Np2-
Your iPad 2 might be defective.  An Apple Store Genius should be able to check it for you, and will replace it on the spot if it doesn't work right.
You might try resetting the network settings on the iPad.  See Settings - General - Reset - Reset Network Settings.
Although far-fetched, is it possible your iPad is connected to a different WiFi base station than you think?  I've had that happen, and had to go to Settings - WiFi - (Click on the WiFi Network's blue arrow) - Forget This Network, and then select the correct network. This could easily happen if you and your neighbor both have the same WiFi name!

  • How do i get a print feature on my iPad (original) to use with an AirPrint enabled printer?

im trying to set up printing from my original iPad, and cannot find the AirPrint app to install. I am sure I am doing this all wrong.. help!!!

AirPrint is already built into the latest OS (iOS 4.3.3).  If you are using the most up-to-date OS on your iPad, AirPrint will be there (although you will not see an icon for it until you actually print).  There is technically no App to install.
To print, touch the action icon (little rectangular box with a curved arrow in it).  If the shown page is capable of being printed (e.g., it is an email, photo, webpage, etc.), a Print option will be shown.

  • I just bought my first and only apple product yesterday, an iPad mini with retina. How can I print to a non AirPrint enabled printer?

I have heard that unless I have a Mac or newer AirPrint printer, I will not be able to print from my iPad.  This is my first apple product, so I really hope that is not the case, or it may have to go back. I do not want to have to go out and buy a new printer when mine works fine and is only a couple of years old. Please let me know if there is a solution to my problem.

Check the app store for a third party printer application.  Depending on who made your printer, the manufacturer may have an app.  Otherwise, look for a third party app.
Whatever you find won't have the flexibility you would obtain if you had an AirPrint printer.  For example, Epson has an app, but it cannot print from all functions (e.g., mail).

  • How can I get my 3rd gen IPOD Touch w/OS 6 to print to my AirPrint enabled Canon MX432 printer?

I can't print from my IPOD Touch to my Canon 432 AirPrint enabled printer. Printer is wireless and works well with 2 desk top computers. Printer can be seen by my wife's IPhone.  IPod OS is 6.0. Does anyone know how to fix this? I'm assuming OS upgrades have disabled AirPrint functions.

Have you tried the troubleshooting included here:
    iOS: AirPrint 101
Are you sue you have a 3G (no cameras) iPod with iOS 6? A 3G can only go to 5.1.1 unless jailbroken. Jailbreaking frequently causes problems

  • How can I print a doc from my iPhone 4S to a Lexmark Interpret S405 printer with WiFi? Thanks!

How can I print a doc from my iPhone 4S to a Lexmark Interpret S405 printer with WiFi? Thanks!

Unfortunately you need an airprint enabled printer to print from an iOS device. There are some work arounds but they are very complicated and aren't proven to work 100%. From what I understand through rumors they are working on allowing all wireless printers to work with iOS but at the moment that's a pipedream. I don't know how important it is but if you really need to print from iPhone you can find some great AirPrint printers on Ebay for decent prices. Good Luck!
