Iphone doesn't receive mail

I setup my Yahoo account on my new Iphone 3G. It was working for 2 days and then it stopped receiving e-mails. It does the update, gives me a message in the Inbox that mail is updated but I haven't received mails since last Thursday. All my other folders (Sent, Bulk, Trash) is working properly.
I tried to delete the account and set it up again, reset Network connection, nothing has worked so far.
Does anybody have a suggestions or had the same issue before?
Thank you

I might have posted this in the wrong thread earlier...
Sorry for the duplicate posts!
Hello All,
Thank you for allowing me to join these forums.
I'm having the same e-mail issues.
My IPhone is not feeling the love for e-mails.
It has been "working" VERY sporadically since I purchased the phone.
I've already spent a ton of time trying to fix it, but nothing seems to get it to update my e-mails consistantly.
I deleted most of the e-mails that were in my Inboxes too.
Any more ideas on what I should look for, other than another phone???
Thanks for all of your help,
Ben

  • My iPhone doesn't receive mail...  All other devices do...  HELP!

I'm about to throw the iPhone 4 out the door... It doesn't usually get any new mail and when it does it is usually doesn't get them on time. Sometimes it tells me I have a message but it doesn't show anything. What's the deal? Can I just reset my iPhone and resync all the information from my Mac?

Same, my iPhone neither gets email by push or fetch.

  • My iPhone is not receiving mail but these messages continue to flash at the bottom of the screen:  Checking for messages, Updated just now, checking for messages, etc.  After a minute or so it will flash downloading 1 - 32 messages but nothing is received

My iPhone is not receiving mail but the following messages continue to flash over and over at the bottom of the screen:  "Checking for messages, Updated just now, Checking for messages", etc.  After a minute or so it will flash downloading 1 - 32 messages but nothing is received and then the "Checking for Messages," etc. starts back again.   I turned the phone off for 30+ minutes and also tried to reset it, but the problem continues.   Any ideas on how to solve the problem?

Double click the home button and swipe up the messages app to stop it, then open the app again. This pretty much completely stops the process and freshly opens it again, resolving problems at times. I have had this happen before as well on my iPad, I get a banner, check messages, and nothing new is there.
If that doesn't work, close the app like suggested above, but then restart the phone by holding down the home and lock button for 10-15 seconds until the apple logo appears.

  • IPhone Doesn't Receive All CC'd Addresses

Very odd situation: have an iPhone 3G, set up for IMAP. Worked fine until about two months ago when host migrated email system and we got new smtp/server names, ports etc. Now, on messages with multiple people cc'd I only see one of them - when I look in entourage or mail they're all there, so it's not like the server is dropping them. For some reason they're just not all making it onto the iPhone. If I reply all the message only goes to the addresses that appear, not the rest of them. Is there some odd setting I may have inadvertently changed that only accepts one address per category (from, cc)? All port settings are same as entourage etc, where they work fine. Any ideas?

I had the similar experience.  I have the iPhone 5, all was working well using iMessage with my phone number.  I then hooked my Mac to iMessage using my Apple ID.  After this, all my iMessages from my phone were being send with my email address.  In settings / messages / send & receive, I could see my phone number and email address, but was unable to select my phone number in the "You can be reaced by iMessage at:" (it should be grayed out and selected by default).  I also could not select my phone number in the "Start new conversations from:" section.
I turned off iMessage, rebooted the phone, turned iMessage back on and was able to use my phone number.  my email is added as a location I can be reached at and I am able to select my phone number now in "Start new conversations from:"

  • IPhone doesn't receive iMessages

I recently got an iPhone 5, but it doesn't seem to receive iMessages even though my iPod touch and iPad receive them. All my devices are connected to the same Wi-Fi network, and the problem persists even if I disconnect the iPhone from Wi-Fi. I've tried rebooting, hard resetting, restoring from back up and restoring as new. Any suggestions?

  • Mail not receiving mail and refuses to quit when prompted

When I open Mail, it seems to work fine. It receives all messages from the server without any problems; however, a few days later I notice that I don't get any mail from the Mail.app. However, I know I have been getting e-mails because of my iPhone and the Gmail Notifier.
I try to quit Mail when this happens, but I have to force quit the application. Mail does not stop responding. It just doesn't quit. There are no error messages. It just doesn't receive mail after a while and won't even if I press the "Get Mail" button.
Thank you in advance for helping me out with this.

I have this same problem as well. Mail will work fine for a few hours then it will get "stuck" on downloading a message. I never gets unstuck and I can't quit mail or the activity of downloading the mail - thus I have to force quit the app several times a day. It will also occasionally tell me to rebuild the index, which I do, but it only seems to help for a couple of hours until the next message gets stuck while downloading. Mail.app ran fine up until recently.
The only thing I can think of recently is that I have been on some sites that say "if you visit this site it may damage your computer" - I never downloaded anything... can malware be added to you computer just by visiting a site via the safari browser? I ran a malware/virus scan and it found mostly windows malware/viruses in old archived email attachments. Any ides?
FWIW: I'm using POP accounts and keeping them on the server for 1 week

Can you do setup an unread mail folder that shows all unread mail regardless of what folder it really is in on the iPhone mail program somehow?
    No.
If not, can this be submitted as an enhancement as it makes email use very cumbersome.
Yes. You can submit feedback to Apple: http://www.apple.com/feedback/iphone.html.

  • Cannot receive mail unless it is a "reply" to one I send on iPhone

I've gone through multiple set ups, using the Gmail set up information and the "other" mail client set-up using the IMAP information, including instructions from Apple and from Gmail. Here is my problem -- I can send email from my iPhone, I can receive email on my iPhone, BUT - I can only receive email on my iPhone if it is a reply from a message I originally send from my iPhone.
So if I give my Gmail address to someone and they send an unsolicited email, I do not get it on my iPhone. If I send them an email from my iPhone first, they can reply and I will receive it.
I'm apparently missing something huge in my settings, but I've gone through the email set-up guide on Apple's site and the set-up guide listed on Gmail's site for the iPhone and it still doesn't work.
Thanks in advance for any advice.

    One thing to try:
Log in to your Gmail account through your browse on your computer and see if there is any kind of verification message there.

  • IPhone 5 Stopped Receiving Yahoo Mail

I noticed this past weekend (03/28-3/29) my Yahoo email account on my iPhone 5 had not received any new emails, although I was still continuing to receive them on my iPad.  I have attempted the following:
Updated operating system to iOS 8.2
Deleted Yahoo Account and changed account password (on PC)
    Reinstalled Yahoo Account
I have also performed Steps 2 and 3 above and rebooted the phone between the steps.  Currently my inbox is empty and will not receive test emails I've sent from other accounts, I am however able to compose and send emails.  When I access the inbox, it shows "No Mail" and when I swipe down, the task bar at the bottom briefly shows "connecting" and then "Updated Sunday".
Any help/ thoughts on the matter woudl be greatly appreciated.

iPhone 5 with iOS 8.1.2 stopped receiving mail yesterday. Have yahoo email account. Can still send emails. Have turned device off/on. Have done the dual off/on thing using top button and menu button.   Issue seems to be only with main inbox, as sub folders are receiving mail. Other Apple device is not having issues like this, just on iPhone.
Your issue is with the Yahoo email account which is notoriously bad.
you can try deleting and reinstalling the email account.
If that doesn't fix it try the yahoo email app.

  • AIM account doesn't receive any emails sent from my iPhone

This help question is going to sound odd maybe, but here goes. I just set up an AIM account for my girlfriend so we can use iChat and her webcam. But she wants to use the email portion as well. I receive emails from her on my iPhone BUT she doesn't receive any of the emails that I send back to her from my iPhone.
They show in the "send" box of my 3 email accounts, they are not AIM accounts btw. They are local isp accounts. If I send them from my MacBook Pro, they are received by her. If I send them from the WEB sites of my isp, she receives them.
    Why not from my iPhone???
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Steve.

Check the outgoing SMTP server settings for the mail account on your phone and make sure that they are the same as on your laptop. You may need to use several alternative SMTP servers depending on whether you are sending mail via your home wi-fi or via 3G. Ask your ISP for the first one and your mail provider for the second. You can enter multiple SMTP servers on your phone and it will try them in turn.

  • TS3899 my iphone wont receive mail even my hotmail account

why wont my mail receive in my inbox on my iphone ?? i need it to work because i am resetting my apple id password because it says it has been disabled !! it says i have 51 inbox but then when i click on it it has nothing there !!  please help i need my mail to receive to me !!

This is a Gmail issue.  The iphone doesn't make up the message that your username or password is incorrect unless gmail report that back when it tries to log you in.
This is usually caused by two step verificaiton on a gmail account.  Since iOS Mail cannot get SMS enabled verification codes, Gmail has created an 'App Specific Password" system.  Check this out and see if you have created a 2nd password specifically for your gmail on your iPhone.

  • Iphone 4s visual voice mail doesn't work

I set up new iphone 4s and visual voice doesn't work
I wiped it out and restored..still no working
tried set up as new phone and still not working
    companion Iphone 4s works fine

Voice mail, including visual voice mail, is a carrier feature. Contact your carrier again and escalate the call until you get hold of someone with a clue.
This is assuming you're using a Straight Talk CDMA iPhone. If you're using an unlocked iPhone with a Straight Talk GSM SIM card, that's not supported by either StraightTalk or Apple.

  • TS4083 Is there a way or a setting my folders in Mail to automatically update across all devices? if I transfer an email to a folder for follow-up on my PC, my folder in Mail on my iPhone doesn't update until I actually go into the folder and update manua

Is there a way (or a setting) for my individual folders in Mail to automatically update across all devices? For example, if I transfer an email to a folder for follow-up on my PC - say 10th of the following month - the same folder in Mail on my iPhone doesn't update until I actually go into the folder and update manually.  Interestingly though, if I create a new folder on any of my devices they automatically appear on the other devices so it is just the actual contents that I am referring to here.  Appreciate any help or guidance.
    Regards
    Justin

You can turn mail off in the settings but then you can't use it for anything, including the "test" that you want to perform.
Settings>Mail, Contacts, Calendars>Account Name>Mail>Off. That totally turns off the mail account.
As long as mail is turned on and you launch the app, it will look for an download new mail.

  • My Mac has stopped receiving mail. Mail is still coming through to my iPhone and my wife's iPad but is not appearing on my mac. I have mail from today on the phone but nothing newer than 18 Feb on the Mac. I have not touched any settings. Can anyone adv

My Mac has stopped receiving mail. I have a mac.com address. Mail is still coming through to my iphone and my wife's ipad but nothing is coming through to my imac.I have mail from half an hour ago on the phone but nothing newer than 18 Feb on the mac. Everythng was working fine until recently and I have not touched any settings! Can anyone help?

So I tried something else recently and it seems to have fixed the issue. My mail is now getting new mail again and refreshing after waking from sleep without having to restart mail. Give it a try and hopefully it will help you too.
First, make sure your Mailbox List is visible (Shift + Control + M). Then select all of your inboxes, mailboxes, and folders (not just the root folder for nested folders, make sure to select them all). Then under the "Mailbox" menu, select "Rebuild."
It may take a while to rebuild them all if you have a lot, but like I said it seems to have done the trick for me. I hope that proves to be more of a long-term solution.
