IPhone doesn't recognize some keys

I bought a 3G (not 3GS) iPhone a couple of weeks ago. After a few days, it stopped recognizing the O and 9 keys on vertical (portrait) keyboards. That problem went away after a couple of days. Now, about a week later, the probelm has returned. Apple technical support couldn't help. We went through resets, etc., without success. Any ideas?

Did you also try to restore "as new iphone"? (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1414)

My pavilion dv7-1232nr dvd rw drive doesn't recognize some dvds how can I fix this problem? I am running Win 7 home premium 64 bit.

If these are new original DVD, you should bring your system in for alignment. If they are copied DVDs, the drive that made them may be out of alignment and your good drive can't read the bad copy.  There is also another issue you may be talking about. Many DVD movies are assigned a country code and will not run on a machine from another country.  This was intended to prevent piracy.

  • My iPhone doesn't recognize my charging!

I connected my iPhone 4 to a speaker dock thingy and I rushed to take my phone out and later that day when I went to charge it, it didn't recognize the charger!! I have read related discussions but most of them seem like I have to go to the apple store to get it fixed. But one problem is is that whenever I connect my iPhone to the charger, I wait a few hours (mostly 2 hours) and it gains 4% still. It seems like it charges but it charges only little percent and my iPhone doesn't recognize it's charging!! PLEASE HELP ASAP

Whether anyone else has the problem or not is irrelevant. You have it. I'm sure that among the 900 million iOS devices sold there is at least one other one with the same problem. But how does knowing that help you?
What troubleshooting have you done so far? Have you tried a different cable? A different USB adapter? Is it an Apple adapter or an aftermarket adapter? Is it an Apple cable or an aftermarket cable? Are you trying to use the wall adapter or a computer? If you are using a computer try the wall adapter.
Have you tried cleaning the dock connector on the bottom of the phone? Remove any lint or dirt in it, and inspect it for damage or corrosion using a magnifying glass.

  • IPhone doesn't recognize my SIM Card after update to iOS 5.1

I updated my iOS to 5.1 yesterday and after that my iPhone doesn't recognize my SIM Card. What has happened to my iPhone?

It was probably jailbroken or hacked to unlock it. If that's the case it is now bricked. You may be able to find an answer on Google, but you cannot get help here.

  • System Preferences Keyboard Shortcuts does not recognize some keys

Upgrading to Snow Leopard meant leaving Unsanity's elegant Menu Master behind. I've been trying to make do with System Preferences > Keyboard > Keyboard Shortcuts > Applications Shortcuts. I've had some success. I'm now looking for help dealing with unfortunate shortcomings.
At the top of my list:
Keyboard Shortcuts doesn't let me use some keys I was accustomed to using in Menu Master:
    • Delete, Help, forward Delete, Home, End, Page Up and Page Down just beep.
    • Enter is accepted, but it's treated the same as Return -- these are two different keys!
Is there some way to trick/force Keyboard Shortcuts to accept these keys?
For example, I seem to recall Menu Master required a mouse-down to enter some special keys.

not for me. it's both displayed and treated differently. I suspect what you are seeing is a byproduct of using a haxie such as Menu Master.
no it's not. it's treated differently.
In Leopard, Menu Master let me assign Command+Enter to Address Book > Edit Card. When I attempt the same using Keyboard Shortcuts, both Command+Return and Command+Enter are displayed as Command plus a "return arrow." After that, in Address Book, both Command+Return and Command+Enter invoke the "Edit Card" menu action.
    not for me.
if you want to use those keys in the shortcuts use one of the many 3rd party app launchers. any one of them will let you do this: Qucisilver, Butler, Spark, Launchbar, ikeys, quickeys etc.
I've been using QuicKeys since the beginning of time, and I have some experience with Butler and LaunchBar. They're useful for what they do. But, as far as I know, none add keyboard shortcuts that are displayed directly in the menus. That display feature is what makes Menu Master and Systems Prefs > Keyboard Shortcuts so attractive.
that's because Menu Master is a haxie. none of the other programs mentioned are. you want such functionality you are going have to use a haxie. personally - i stay away from them as they destabilize the system.
When I'm considering new shortcuts, I use KeyCue to display all current shortcuts in a single display. KeyCue now displays QuicKeys shortcuts in the same display, which is a big help.

  • Macbook recognizes Iphone via bluetooth. Iphone doesn't recognize macbook?

My computer recognizes my iphone but does not connect saying it 'does not have the necessary services'. Both devices are set to discoverable. Iphone will not recognize any device.

3G iPhone updated to iOS4 connects as intended in 09 Nissan Rogue. After the update, car did not show in list of previously connected bluetooth devices. As soon as I put Nissan in discovery mode, 3G saw it and added it to list. iPhone automatically connects whenever I enter car (assuming bluetooth is turned on). Perhaps you might want to try pairing the phone and car again. If your car is listed on your phone as a bluetooth device, you may wish to delete and try again.

  • My 4S iphone doesn't recognize our Chromecast Wi-Fi network.

I've downloaded and installed the Chromecast app, but my phone isn't recognizing the Chromecast network on the wi-fi.

What do you mean the phone doesn't recognize the "chromecast" network?
Sounds like you should be directing this question to Google since it's their app and their hardware (chromecast).

  • My iphone doesn't recognize the user ID that the itunes account on my computer recognizes.  It was changed on the computer because the original user ID email address is no longer valid

My ipone doesn't recognize the user ID that the itunes account on my computer recognizes.  It was changed on the computer because the original user ID email address is no longer valid.  Can someone please help me with this?  Thanks!

    Hi there,
Thanks for the reply.  I did think that could be the case but then other books would also show up as apps on phone but not counted as an app.  Maybe book apps downloaded from the app store work in this way whereas books bought from the ibooks app show in ibooks and not as apps.
I guess that would make sense, it must be because they are books but downloaded from the app store rather than the book store so they are visible as an app but don't actually get counted as an app.
Would you think that's the case too?
    Thanks
    Adam

  • IPhone doesn't recognize numbers in 11 digit format

There's a problem now that arised in Egypt.
Before 2 days the numbering scheme was that mobile numbers are 10 digits:
3 digits for network code & 7 digits for number.
Now what happened that numbers had just exteneded to be 11 digits:
3 digits for network code & 8 digits for number.
in old scheme that iPhone successfuly recognized the mobile number:
    012 3456789 same as +2012 3456789.
Now in new scheme doesn't do this. calls are sent in local format : 012 34567899 but msgs are received in international format +2012 34567899.
so i have to save both number (without and with the international code +2) in order to recognize the phone call and the sms
is there any solution or app to download?

I'm facing the same problem and I can't find any solution, some friends told me about installing a package from Cydia if you have a jailbroken iphone, the package name is "CallerID-format Fix"; I didn't try it myself. My iPhone is not jailbroken so my problem is not resolved yet. Please post if you found any other way to resolve this issue. Thanks.

  • Firefox doesn't recognize some links on a home utility website

I logged on to my gas utility provider. There is a link that asks you to choose the region where you are receiving the service. The link opens up a pop-up which offers you links to all the available regions. When I click on my link, nothing happens, except for the url showing on the bottom of the browser as if I am only hovering. Other links on this pop-up work. I would think this is a current broken link on the website, BUT, the link works fine in internet explorer!
There is a trick I can use to open the link: I can right-click on the link, and choose open link in another tab, and the link then works. This is driving me mad. One time I saw a 2 second comment about my K-9 security software, but it was too fast to actually read it. I've used this site countless times and never had a problem. There are a number of places on the site that offer this pop-up. It always refuses to acknowledge regular clicking on the link I need.
Again, I would think this has something to do with the website itself, or the K-9 protection I saw for that split second, but the reality is, it's NOT happening in Internet Explorer, only in firefox.
I tried clicking on this link from firefox safe mode, but that didn't work either. I know I can continue using my "trick", but I don't like that firefox is simply refusing to recognize and connect to a link for no apparent reason. I've emptied my cache, deleted all my cookies, history, logins, and anything else that
might be preserving some kind of glitch that may have occured once. I've closed and re-opened firefox. I've closed and restarted my whole computer. Firefox refuses to respond to this link, without my using the "right click - open in another tab trick".
Does anyone have any other ideas of what to tweak?

It looks like an overlay in the page rather than a separate pop-up window. Firefox's pop-up permissions do not apply to overlays.
Did this problem just start after August 6th? Firefox 23 has a new mixed content blocker which could affect sites that are showing an insecure (HTTP) overlay on an secure (HTTPS) page. Typically a "shield" icon would appear to the left of the URL on the address bar. This article has more information about how to recognize that situation and deal with it: [[How does content that isn't secure affect my safety?]]
    Does that seem relevant?

  • I have iphone 4 and ios 7. iphone doesn't recognize my wifi at home frequently but my ipads which has old ios have no problem. how can I fix it?

I have iphone 4 and recently updated IOS to 7.0.4. After that, my iphone is keep going into 3G mode at home. I thought it was the problem with my internet or router. But my husband's iphone and our ipads are not having any issues. I turned off and turn it on many times. It eventually get the wifi, but it disconnects few times and it is really frustrating.
Also, it seems to me that the battery is dying quicker. Am I the only person having the issue?
How can I fix the connectivity issue? Or is there any way for me to go back to IOS 6? Some of appes don't work under IOS 7.
    Thank you.

  • IPhone doesn't recognize epson workforce 545

My iPad prints effortlessly to my epson.   I just can't get my iphone4 to recognize the same printer.   Can anyone offer me some ideas?   Thanks!

My Mac was not recognizing the Epson 630 printer over the wireless network, but the fax would appear. The printer only worked when hooked up by a USB cable to the computer.
So I took your advise, downloaded and installed the "common updater" and the computer almost immediately found the Epson 630 printer (wirelessly). Thanks for that advice It works!!

  • Superdrive doesn't recognize some DVDs

Hi there, I'm a proud and happy owner of a 17" iMac with Superdrive - bought it three weeks ago. No problem until yesterday when the Supedrive started giving some problems with movies on DVDs (official ones, not burned). If I put a disc inside it, then it starts loading it for a minute or two, but the volume never appears on the desktop. Eject key didn't work either, so I restared tha mac and after some seconds the disc comes out - which is fine, but not the way it should work. Same problem with another disc which the mac previously recognized. The DVD was just bought so I suppose there was no fault with the disc (which worked with my DVD home player). Any suggestion? Should I ask for a replacement for the drive?

    Hello gefne99,
I would be concerned too if my SuperDrive was not recognizing some CDs and DVDs.
First, I recommend resetting the System Management Controller (SMC) on your iMac:
Resetting the SMC for Mac Pro, Intel-based iMac, Intel-based Mac mini, or Intel-based Xserve
    Shut down the computer.
    Unplug the computer's power cord.
    Wait fifteen seconds.
    Attach the computer's power cord.
Wait five seconds, then press the power button to turn on the computer.
