IPhone doesn't ring in wifi mode

Both my wife and I have iPhone 5 phones. We noticed a problem when I first got mine that the phone didn't always let calls go through when it was on the wifi network in the house. Some calls did, some calls did not. We then found that if you turned off the wifi, the calls went through. Same problem with my wife's phone and she got her's a month after mine. Calling the phones, it sounds like they are ringing, but it goes to voice mail, but then the phone doesn't indicate it has a voice mail. We tried turning data off and then back on, and that didn't fix it. We have powered down and restarted, and that doesn't work either.  Any help would be appreciated.

Hi guidingbyte,
Who is your cellular service provider? Have you contacted them to verify the account and SIM are setup correctly?
Try resetting the iPhone by holding the Home and Sleep/Wake buttons until you see the Apple logo as described here: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=305743
If the issue persists after resetting, try restoring the iPhone. This article: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1414 will walk you through restoring the iPhone.

My iphone doesn't ring when it's unlocked .. i have calls but the screen still black and when i slide to unlock the screen i found i had missed calls
i have tried manythings but it doesn't work
i put it in silent mode and i found my calls comes normaly and it works good but when i turn on ring mode it's back as it how can i fix that ?!

Basic troubleshooting steps outlined in the user guide are restart, reset, restore from backup, restore as new device.  Try each of these steps until your problem is solved. If these steps fail to solve your issue, then you'll need to bring your phone into Apple (or an authorized service provider in your area) for evaluation.

  • When call is coming, the iPhone doesn't ring. same for messages.

Until the wi-fi reception is completely lost, the iPhone will not switch to the cellular network.

  • IPhone doesn't pick up wifi automatically

Sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn't. Often my iPhone doesn't pick up wifi when I come into a wi-fi zone and stays on GPRS until I go into setting, wifi and then it picks up the network. Sometimes it does it automatically but it's annoying when it doesn't. It sometimes does the same with network signal if you go into a 'No Service' area and then come out of it it often takes a long time to pick up the network signal again. What could be wrong?

These are wi-fi networks your iPhone has connected with previously?
If not, your iPhone won't automatically connect to an available wi-fi network unless your iPhone has successfully connected to the network previously.
You can try resetting network settings at Settings > General > Reset.
This will erase all saved wi-fi networks and settings your iPhone has connected with previously and require manually re-joining every wi-fi network your iPhone has access to when returning within range of such a wi-fi network. This will also reset your cellular network connection.

  • IPhone doesn't ring in car with built-in bluetooth with OS4.

I have the iPhone 3Gs...updated completely to the latest OS, but when I updated to OS4, the bluetooth in my Nissan Versa no longer rings. The phone doesn't ring with an incoming call, and the car's bluetooth doesn't ring. The only way I know there is an incoming call is if the radio or cd or auxillary (iPod) is playing, the music shuts off and the display says telephone. If there is nothing playing on the speakers, there is no notification of an incoming call.
I have deleted the phone from the car's program and re-added it, but it doesn't change anything. Is there anyone else with this same problem?
It's very frustrating and I'm waiting for a fix.

ohh boy! i hope i wont have this problem when i get my iphone 4 next week but when i purchased the ipod touch i couldnt even synch it with my friends similar ipod (when we both had bluetooth on).
i went to a apple store and the genius guy told me the bluetooth only synch with apple stuff - well that was incorrect because i still cant synch with my friend´s ipod nor my home mac mini pc!
that is why i always had nokia phones so far, because i rely a lot on bluetooth (photo and music transfer) but lately i found a nice ebay deal for an ipad and an iphone 4 ...so i took the chance on getting them but i find now that they dont synch!!!
i hope the latest upgrade OS4 will solve all this (maybe i wont even upgrade and try it first with old OS from factory) because i need to listen to my ipod itunes and make/receive calls handsfree from my sony xplod bluetooth car radio.
no matter how old is my poor 2001 renault clio 1.2 this is not a reason for apple not to dwell on this worldwide problem - the only option left is to plug a 3.5 male/male cable from headphones to aux!

  • I have iphone 4 and ios 7. iphone doesn't recognize my wifi at home frequently but my ipads which has old ios have no problem. how can I fix it?

I have iphone 4 and recently updated IOS to 7.0.4. After that, my iphone is keep going into 3G mode at home. I thought it was the problem with my internet or router. But my husband's iphone and our ipads are not having any issues. I turned off and turn it on many times. It eventually get the wifi, but it disconnects few times and it is really frustrating.
Also, it seems to me that the battery is dying quicker. Am I the only person having the issue?
How can I fix the connectivity issue? Or is there any way for me to go back to IOS 6? Some of appes don't work under IOS 7.
    Thank you.

  • Iphone does not ring in standby mode

my father has an iphone 3G,
and it will not ring in standby mode.
it worked perfectly when he was on 2.0,
but when he upgraded to 2.1 it started having some problems.
now he has 2.2.1 and the only problem it has is it will not ring while in standby.
it will only ring when unlocked.
is anyone else having this issue,
and does anyone have any way to fix it?
i dont know if it is irrelevant or not,
but he is on windows XP.

I was having the same problem and did a couple of "restores" and the issue kept coming back, after several calls and not much help I decided to delete an application that I had downloaded which was "Ski jump lite" and the problem has gone away. It worked fine on the previous version of apple software.
    Regards

  • IPhone doesn't ring when it's in sleepmode

the phone rings only when the screen is on, when the phone goes either automatically or manually in sleepmode, there is no ringing.
If I happen to wake the phone during an incoming call, then the ringing starts.
    What to do?

I was having the same issue yesterday. Got to fooling around with the some things and found something that fixed it. Went into "settings/general settings/reset/reset network settings. That fixed 2 problems ( no wifi connectivity and the phone not ringing in sleep mode.
Have only had my 3G for about 5 days and I'm a little nervous after seeing all the posts and issues. I am converting from a Blackberry 8800 and although the 3G is definitely "cooler" the BB kills it for business applications. I may have to go back.

  • Iphone doesn't ring after 3.0 update...

After downloading and installing OS 3 on my 3G phone, I realized that there is no more a ring tone I tried few different settings turning all the vibrate features off but when I get a call it still doesn't make a sound. Anyone came across that problem? Any ideas how to fix it? I did restart the iphone few times.

I too have the same problem. Sometimes the keyboard sounds, as well as the unlocking and sleep noises disappear. When I make a phone call I do not hear the ringer, the person answering, and they cannot hear me either. Sometimes it works fine, but not consistently. I messed around with the volume and that's when I realized that the phone thinks that my headphones are still attached and when they're not. I've restarted, reseted, and restored my phone and nothing. All of this started happening after I updated to 3.0. I just came back from the apple store, and one of the employees cleaned the headphone jack with pressurized air, but that didn't work either. I made an appointment with the Genius bar, but now I have to wait for two days until I can take it there. This does not bode well for my phone since they too are taking the stance that this is most likely a hardware issue and not a software issue which means only one thing: I'm gonna have to buy a new phone. This started happening from the moment that I slid the "Slide to Unlock" right after the 3.0 os was finished installing. I smell a big fat rat, Apple. Am I being punished for wanting to have the first gen of a product?

  • My Iphone doesn't ring anymore and none of the background sound neither.  I've tried everything and I am ressourceless.  Is it something else to do before sending it to repair?

Cansomeone help me with my problem, if you have any clue please.  I am starting to be ressourceless and my Iphone is my primary phone, so...  Thanks for any help

Do you have the mute switch turned on? It's the slider above the volume buttons? If you see orange next to it, you've got your phone on mute. Slide it the other way.

  • Iphone won't stay in Airplane mode after connecting to some accessories

I've observed that the iphone doesn't stay in airplane mode after I connect it to a Kenwood KCA-iP500 adapter for Kenwood head units. Here's the story.
After I connect the iphone to the iP500, the iphone pops up with a message that says the attached accessory is not compatible with the iphone. It further asks me if I want turn on airplane mode. I choose to activate airplane mode, and I assume it turns on airplane mode. After my drive I disconnect the iphone from the ip500, and I observe that the iphone comes out of airplane mode automatically.
The use of airplane mode is crucial for me because I work in a Mexican border town and I want to avoid data roaming charges. I manually put the phone in airplane mode, put it into standby mode and went about my business. Some time later I went back to the home screen and noticed that the phone was trying to register to a phone network. I kept trying to keep it in airplane mode but it kept coming out by itself.
I'm guessing that the feature that temporarily activates airplane mode and then automatically deactivates it when the accessory is disconnected keeps it out of airplane mode.
The good news is turning the phone off and then back on fixes the problem.

  • IPhone 6 Plus doesn't switch to landscape mode on the home screen

my new iPhone 6+ will not switch to landscape mode when turned horizontally in the homepage. Any thoughts about why this is? It will inindividual apps, but just not on the home page. And no, my screen orientation is not locked in portrait mode.  Is anyone else having similar problems or have any suggestions?
    Thanks in advance.

    +1
    My iPhone 6+ doesn't:
 rotate to landscape mode on the home screen
     display dual-paned email
 display the extended keyboard in landscape mode.
Curious if anyone else is experiencing all three symptoms on their 6+ too?
(It ***** because I bought the horsey 6+ for these features.)
I'm suspicious that it was my restore that did it. Did anyone else experiencing the "no rotate" bug restore from an iTunes backup? I did, and I think that it went afoul. I restored from an iTunes backup (via USB), from an iPhone 5s running the iOS 8 GM Seed.
    Does this ring a bell?
I'd rather not wipe it and set it up as a new device as this takes HOURS that I don't have right now, but I suspect that the restore (possibly the iOS 8 GM) is the culprit.
    Thanks!

  • Facetime- How do I get it to work?  I've tried calling my iPhone, but it doesn't ring?  I see that the facetime connected somewhat to my phone, but it doesn't ring or allow me to answer.

I recently purchased Facetime for my iMac.  I tried to test it out by calling my iPhone, but it doesn't ring at all.  When looking at my call history on my cell, it shows that I missed Facetime calls, but no vibration, no ring, nothing.  I then tried to call from my iPhone and still no real connection.  Any ideas?

Is the iPhone connected to a WiFi network? FaceTime only works if the iPhone is connected to a WiFi network. Also, it must be enabled in Settings -> Phone
