IPhone doesn't save new contacts

Hi there! I hope someone can help me with this. Since I have the new iOS 4 my iPhone doesn't save any new contacts I make. I got the iPhone 4 but it didn't help either... I try to save new contact and when I sync my iPhone, the new contact just gets deleted. Does anyone experience the same problem? I appreciate any help!
Thank you!

  • IPhone 4's standard "notes" app doesn't save new updates?

    I regularly use the 'notes' app that comes standard on the iPhone for everything. Shopping lists, to do lists, you name it. But with the new iPhone 4, the app doesn't save new edits. I'll type in or delete something, and then after I hit done, the "thinking" thing at the top left rolls around a few times, and then whatever I just typed in disappeared, or whatever I deleted reappears. Help!

    I don't live in that area (I'm in northern Orange County, CA), but my neighbor and I have been having the same problem since last Saturday (Feb. 5) in the area around where we live (we both have iPhone 4's, and they still work fine in other areas). Note that we have full bars, and the "3G" symbol on the display, but get no data over 3G; disabling 3G allows access using EDGE (slowly), and phone/texting works fine (it's just the 3G data in our neighborhood that's broken). Since we both have WiFi in our homes, we didn't initially identify the 3G problem; what we both noticed was a sudden increase in iPhone power consumption (beginning last Saturday) when we are in our neighborhood (even when the phones are idle); I used to go 3-4 days on a charge, but now the battery drops at a rate of about 10%/hour when I'm around the house. Interestingly, my neighbor also has an iPad, and it doesn't exhibit the problem. Both phones and the iPad are running iOS V4.2.1. We've tried all the normal things (rebooting, clearing network settings, etc.), and nothing works. I spent some time on the phone last night with AT&T, and they are going to send someone out to check connectivity.

  • Save new contact weird problem

    My friend has an iphone 4 and after upgrading his phone to iOS 6, he kinda lost all his contacts!!! We couln't find any of them at all. Today, I noticed some weird thing in his phone. When we tried to add some contact to his contactlist, if we have done it through the dialpad (i.e. entering the number in dial pad, then add a new contact, etc), it doesn't show it in the contact list!!!!!!! even if we have activated all the groups! But if we have used the add (plus) button on the contact list, every thing was fine!
    Any idea what might be the problem with the first method????
    My own thinking: It might saves the contacts in the SIM memory, and somehow it doesn't show them on phone! But if so, Is there anyway to show them? Does iphone has this kind of distinguished SIM and phone memories???
    Thanks in advance

    The iPhone does not store anything at all on the SIM.

  • HT4910 when i back up my contacts from my iphone to icloud, any new contact that i added is not in icloud

    When i add new contacts to the phone, i go to setting - icloud - and then back up contacts. when i go in to my icloud accound via computer its not showing up, i have even tried backing up via wifi and cable connection. nothing.. any help please

    I assume by "email", you mean an email account such as Gmail, Yahoo or and exchange account.  To get these contacts in iCloud do the following:
    Go to Settings>iCloud, turn Contacts to Off, choose Delete from My iPhone when prompted (your iCloud contacts will still be in iCloud).
    Download the app My Contacts Backup.  (If you have more than 500 contacts to transfer from your email account you will need the “Pro” version.)  Use the app to back up the remaining contacts on your phone (from your email account) as a vCard attachment to an email that you send to yourself.  Confirm that you have received the email.
    Go to Settings>iCloud and turn Contacts back to On.
    Go to Settings>Mail,Contacts,Calendars>Default Account (in the Contacts section), and set this to iCloud.
    Go to Settings>Mail,Contacts,Calendars...tap the email account you are syncing these contacts with and turn off contacts syncing with with this account.  Otherwise you will end up with duplicate contacts on your phone.
    Open the My Contacts Backup email and tap the attachment to import the contacts from the email account back to your phone, and to iCloud.  All your contacts should now be in iCloud.

  • Syncing iPhone 3G creates unwanted new contacts in Gmail contact list.

    For reasons that are unknown to me, I have many multiple duplications of contacts in my contact list. So, using the contact manager in Gmail I spent many hours cleaning up my contact list so that all of my contacts were correct and not duplicated. However, as soon as I synced the iPhone 3G I immediately had twice as many contacts as before I started, once again ending up with hundreds of unnecessary contact duplications.
    I have now spent many days reading internet blogs and forum posts, and came up with the following (which I incorrectly thought was the solution):
    1] In iTunes, I clicked on 'Edit' --> 'Preferences' --> 'Devices'. Here, I enabled the option to 'prevent iPods, iPhones, and iPads from syncing automatically'. I also enabled the option to 'warn when any of the data on this computer will be changed'.
    2] With the iPhone connected, in iTunes I clicked on 'devices' --> 'iPhone' --> 'Info'. Here, I un-checked the option to 'sync contacts', followed by clicking the button 'remove contacts'.
    Now I confirmed that there are no contacts on the iPhone. Zero. None.
    3] In Gmail, I once again spent many hours going trough all of my contacts, cleaning up the unnecessary duplicates. This time, however, I chose to export my contact list to a .CSV file on my computer, so that if this happens again I would just delete them all and restore my contact list fro this backup file.
    Now I have 0 contacts on the iPhone, and approximately 250 contacts on my Gmail account.
    4] In iTunes 10.2.1.1 running on Windows 7, I once again clicked on 'Edit' --> 'Preferences' --> 'Devices'. Here I now clicked the button to 'reset sync history'.
    5] I connect the iPhone to the computer, re-enable the option to 'sync contacts with Gmail' and click the 'Apply' button. The iPhone sync process begins and I am presented with the following message:
    Syncing with Google contacts will change more than 0% of your contacts on this computer.
    Information: Contacts. Add:41. Delete:0. Modify:2
    Now I already confirmed that there were no contacts on the iPhone, so where are these 41 additions and 2 modifications coming from !?
    I let it happen, knowing that I can repeat this process, using the '.CSV' backup file containing my correct contacts. When the Sync finishes, I log in to my Gmail account and check my contacts. I find that I now have approximately 360 contacts (which is a lot more than the original 250 plus 41), many of which are duplicated multiple times (one contact is even duplicated 6 times). I also notice contacts which I had previously deleted from my Gmail contacts list have now returned.
    As there were 0 contacts on the phone, where are these duplicates and previously deleted contacts coming from when I sync the iPhone !? Somebody from Apple please help me.
    - James.

    O.K. I may have fixed it (time will tell).
    As I had previously chosen to sync with Microsoft Outlook 2010, but the trial period expired and the price to but it was far too high, so I changed to Syncing with Gmail. Therefore I wondered if Outlook may be affecting the iTunes sync even though it was not current chosen in iTunes contact sync option. So, I un-installed Microsoft Office 2010 and re-booted the PC. Now, pressing the 'Rest Sync History' button in iTunes no longer created new contacts in Gmail.
    However, this did not completely solve the problem. With 0 contacts on the phone, and 0 contacts in Gmail, syncing the phone still re-created 41 of the previous contacts. Thew only way I could get rid of these 41 contacts was to deleted them one at a time from the iPhone itself. Doing it from Gmail, or un-checking the iTunes 'sync contacts' option to delete all contacts from the phone at once, did not work; the contacts still kept coming back.
    Funny thing though, iTunes did indicate that it would add 41 contacts when I synced the phone to the computer, but after deleting them from the phone it now warned that it would delete 41 contacts from the computer. But, these contacts were not in my Gmail, so I still don't know where they were coming from.
    Either way, after many hours spent over many days, I seem to now be able to sync my phone contacts with my Gmail without it creating any more unnecessary duplicates.
    I hope someone out there can tell me why this happened, and I hope my experiences with this help someone else in a similar situation.
    - James.

  • How to save new contact from phone app to ms outlook work account instead of local contact

    Hi,
    I need some help please.
    I usually save new numbers that call me from the phone app, I just hit "add to contacts".
    I keep all of my contacts on my work microsoft outlook account so they are synced with my work, I have absolutely no local contacts on the phone.
    My Z10 saves these contacts directly as local contacts instead of saving them on my work account.
    However, if I go to the phonebook app, and select add new contact from there, I have the option to select whether it's a personal or a work contact. If I select work contact, it will save it to my work outlook and everything's fine, however when saving from the phone app I don't have this option.
    I don't understand what I'm doing, wrong, please help on how to save to work account directly from phone app.
    Thank you

    Hey bllizzard,
    Welcome to the BlackBerry Support Community Forums.
    Thanks for the question.
    What version of BlackBerry 10 software are you currently using?  Go to Settings>About to find this information.
    When in the phone application and press and hold a number, choose add to contacts.  Then click Add contact at the bottom, at the very top you'll have a choice to choose Personal or Work.  Choose Work if you want the contact saved to your work email account.
    Let me know if you have any more questions.
    Cheers.

  • My iphone doesn't save events

    Everytime I add a new event, it marks it with a dot and then when I page through the months, it disapears.
    Help!

    Hello there pandradei,
    Thank you for using Apple Support Communities!
    It sounds like when you take a photo with the camera app that came with the phone, the photos are not saved in the camera roll in the photos app.
    I would start by closing all the running apps on the phone:
    Double-click the Home button.
    Swipe left or right until you have located the app you wish to close.
    Swipe the app up to close it.
    From: iOS: Force an app to close
              http://support.apple.com/kb/ht5137
    When you have done that, next I would restart your iPhone.
    iOS: Turning off and on (restarting) and resetting
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1430
    If the issue persists after that, I would try backing up your phone to iTunes, then restore your phone.
    iOS: How to back up and restore your content
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1766
    Before you restore your phone from your backup, try setting it up as new, and verify the camera app saves photos as it is supposed to. Then restore your backup and verify it is still working.
    Cheers,
    Sterling

  • Entity Framework doesn't save new record into database

    Hy,
    I have problem with saving new record into database using Entity Framework.
    When I run program, everything seems normal, without errors . Program shows existing, manually added records into the database, and new one too. But new one isn't save into database after running program.
    I've got no idea where's problem. There is code for add new record, show existing.
    Thanks for help!!
    // add new record
    using (var db=new DatabaseEntitiesContext())
    var person = new Table()
    First_Name = "New_FName",
    Second_Name = "New_SName",
    PIN = "4569"
    db.Tables.Add(person);
    db.SaveChanges();
    //show all records
    using (var db=new DatabaseEntitiesContext())
    var selected = from x in db.Tables
    select x;
    foreach (var table in selected)
    Console.WriteLine("{0}{1}{2}",table.First_Name,table.Second_Name,table.PIN);

    Hi BownieCross;
    If you are using a local database file in your project the following may be the cause.
    From Microsoft Documentation:
    Issue:
    "Every time I test my application and modify data, my changes are gone the next time I run my application."
    Explanation:
    The value of the Copy
    to Output Directory property is Copy
    if newer or Copy
    always. The database in your output folder (the database that’s being modified when you test your application) is overwritten every
    time that you build your project. For more information, see How
    to: Manage Local Data Files in Your Project.

  • My itunes doesn't save new music files to the itunes media folder, even though I have ticked the box in the preferences telling it do so...???

    Ok so, my itunes version is up to date, and I've located my itunes media folder... However, newly purchsed songs are not being backed up to the media folder, despite all the right options being ticked in the preferences box. This is immensly frustrating as I cannot back up my itunes library to a separate hard drive. Why is this happening and how can I fix it?

    iTunes stores media in the location set in preferences.  If you have changed things then this won't necessarily be the same place it puts the library file and other files that also need to be backed up.
    If you are content to have everything in one location then I suggest you consolidate it all into one place.  Note this copies files, it doesn't move them, so you need ot make sure you have sufficient hard drive space wherever  you select.

    How to Consolidate Your iTunes Library and Keep It Organized - http://www.switched.com/2010/11/02/itunes-consolidate-library-keep-organized/
    Technically you don't have to have it all in one location to back up.  You just need to make sure you have gotten everything.  I used to have iTunes on two separate drives but I would just make sure each drive was backed up 100% and I would know it was all backed up.

  • Hovering in Mail doesn't create new contact...Please help

    It always worked. Now I hover, I click create. But I can't find it in Address book. I go to ALL CONTACTS and do a search and nothing. I even made a fake contact in an email I sent to myself and called it test. Nope! yet, when I select Add to existing contact, it brings up the box like it is a contact. I have snow leopard and I have been doing this forever. It just stopped tonite. I also tried quitting mail and address book. I guess I could shut reboot the computer....

  • IPhone doesn't recognise contact calling without country prefix

    All my contacts are saved with the country code prefix so that when I travel internationally I can dial my contacts directly. However, when I receive a call from one of my contacts calling without the country code prefix, the iPhone doesn't recognise the contact as the number calling. The only way it works is when I save the contact twice - once with and then without the country code prefix. Is there a fix for this?

    You need to change your region settings accordingly in order to make this work. Numbers that do not work within the set region without the country code will be a headache. Why not put everyone with the right prefix? That way you won't have to worry about any of this ever again...
    Here's what happens when you change region on a number that's not prefixed correctly:
    For example, Austria is +43
    05-1717 is the customer service hotline for the train network.
    Now, if you have some other region set, like America for example, calling 05-1717 will go out as +1 057 171 7 and will error out accordingly.
    For contacts and messaging:
    Lets say their number is  +41 76 593 65 00
    But you have it saved as 076 593 65 00
    The region set is America:
    So +1 is implied, and being that that number is Swiss, your phone will not recognize it as the same person.
    Because it sees the number as +1 076 593 6500.

  • Why does my iphone 4 keep deleting my new contacts?

    I just had my iPhone 4 restored yesterday in an Apple Store for a software problem, now my iPhone is deleting any new contacts I add into my contact list. How can I fix it?

    Sounds like something got corrupted during your upgrade.
    I would restore from a last known good backup if I were you.
    If that doesn't work I would set the phone up as new and re-install all of your apps and re-sync your music again.

  • I have an iPhone and an iPad min.  Using my iPhone I can message any of my contacts.  Using my Ipad, I cannot message new contacts.  What can I do to my iPad to fix this problem?

    This problem with my iPad arose only recently, and perhaps at the same time as I updated the iOS software (that could be coincidental).
    I have checked the imessage registration and done all the tricks people suggest when your iPad doesn't message to anyone.  My problem seems unique to new contacts, as I can freely message older contacts.
    Any thoughts or suggestions?

    OK, I feel like a bit of a dolt, but I pass on this info for my co-dolts:
    I contacted Apple Support and told them my problem.  They advised that the problem is most likely the fact that my new contacts are not using Apple devices (iPhone, iPad, etc.).  If that is true, that would explain why I can send them messages via my iPhone but not my iPad.
    As I understood it, the iPhone can use either iMessage (green print) or SMS (blue print) to communicate with other devices, whether Apple or not.  However, the iPad does not have that option (I guess cuz it's not a cell phone).  If the recipient is using, say, a Samsung product, the iPad can't send a message to it. (My iPad actually says this under the Messaging heading in Settings, but I did not grasp the significance at the time since I did not compare it to my iPhone).
    To test this theory, I used my iPhone to message my new contacts.  They confirmed that they were not using Apple devices.  It was just a coincidence that all my new contacts were not Apple users.
