IPhone doesn't work with Universal Dock remote?

I received an Apple Universal Dock with remote for Christmas, and I'm pretty sure I remember it and the remote working just fine with my iPhone when I first set it up. Today, I tried using it again, and found that I can't use the Universal Dock's remote for anything other than controlling the volume, and even though I can raise or lower the volume with the remote, the volume change is not reflected on my iPhone's screen - the iPhone's ipod volume indicator doesn't move.
The Universal Dock and remote work just fine with my wife's second generation nano, and the iPhone works without any problems when docked into a Logitech mm50 speaker system - the mm50's remote is able to jump forward and backwards through songs, pause, play, etc. The problem seems limited to the combination of my iPhone and the Universal Dock and remote.
Is this normal? According to the Universal Dock's package and documentation, it is compatible with the iPhone and doesn't mention anything about the remote having limited capabilities when used with the iPhone.
If this isn't normal, does anyone have any suggestions on how to fix this?

i just bought this dock as a car dock. I have it hooked up to power 12v and output to 1/8 into head unit. Now, I have to be in iTunes music to get it to work and it only allows volume, playing of files in a playlist and to next song. Are any of you guys having issues with VERY limited use of the remote and lack of really a benefit from using a remote because you have to touch it anyways to change through songs or video??? Are you guys wondering why you even bought it if the remote is not supported as a functional addition?

Remote doesn't work with Universal Docking Station

I have an iPod nano 3rd gen. Whilst in the dock the remote doesn't work at all until I select some music manually using the nano controls. Then I get a response. This is the second docking station from Apple.
Surely it has been designed to work with the remote as soon as it has been docked to enable scrolling through the menus? There are archived discussions from years ago about the same problem and no solutions! It appears that this product is known to be defective by Apple yet they do nothing and when you call them they act as if the problem doesn't exist. They appear to be selling products that don't work and then do nothing about it.

Push mail on iPhone doesn't work with my .mac address, all other accounts working fine. Does anybody experienced problems like this?

Since upgrading to IOS 5 and using icloud my .mac account doesn't work with push anymore. I'am using two other mail accounts with push function and they work fine. I have heard from other users havong same problem, but does anybody have a solution to this? I have deleted the account and set it up again, worked for one test mail and then failed onwards..

My ipod touch is no longer working with universal dock since downloading the new OS

I have the Apple Universal Dock. It had been working fine with my ipod touch. I just downloaded the new OS and now my ipod touch will not work with the Universal Dock.
Any ideas?

Thank you for contributing to the Apple Support Communities.
You mention that your iPod nano is no longer recognized by iTunes after an update. Reinstalling iTunes is a good troubleshooting step, and if the device still doesn't appear in iTunes, try the following steps next:
Turn off your computer and your iOS device or iPod, then turn them on again.
Check to make sure that you've installed all required updates for your computer.
Verify that the 30-pin to USB cable or Lightning Connector to USB cable is free of debris and not damaged. If another cable is available, test with that cable instead.
USB cables that are bundled with third-party products or accessories might work only to charge those products and might not transmit data. Also, if you're using a third-party case or extended battery pack, try removing the case and connecting the Apple-supplied USB cable directly to your device.
You can find these steps in this troubleshooting article:
iPhone, iPad, or iPod not recognized in iTunes for Windows - Apple Support
If the steps above don't solve it, see the section of the article called "Verify that Apple Mobile Device Support is installed" for some additional steps to try on your PC.

IPhone does not work with IPOD Dock to select next song / pause - play

After using the iPhone at the gym, the IPhone quit working using the remote for the Docking station to navigate to next song nor pause / play. Suspect Iphone connector....
Also the iMuffs Headset bluetooth adapter that plugged into the iphone connector quit working. Tested iMuffs bluetooth connector on another iPhone and is still functioning.
any ideas?? clean connector?? short?? service??
Note, the iPhone still syncs with iMac via docking port (USB). So the connector is not totally bad.

Have you tried a reset...and if that doesn't work ..a restore? Back up your phone before you restore.

Any 4S cases work with universal dock?

I'm finally upgrading to the iPhone 4S. I'd really like to find a case and/or universal dock adapter combination so I can continue to use my univ. dock for charging.
I'd prefer to avoid having to remove or otherwise adjust the case to make it work. Dock stub extenders aren't ideal either.
I have an Agent18 case for my 3GS which came with a dock adapter and works great. Have not been able to find a comparable unit for the 4S.
Any recommendations??

No. The receiver fits into the dock connector on the iPod.

IPod 3rd gen not working with universal dock

My old iPod 3rd gen (15GB, touch wheel, dock connector) worked great with the old dock, until the latter started scratching noises when outputting audio to my stereo. Still charges the iPod though.
So, I tried old iPod with the universal dock I got for my Touch and found the following problems:
1. iPod is not being charged through new dock plugged to wall adapter
2. touch wheel menu control is not working as long as iPod sits in universal dock plugged to the wall adapter - the sound of clicks is all I get, but no control of menu or any other function. In order to select playlist or use any other function through touch wheel or any of 4 buttons I need to unplug power from the dock (it is not charging anyway)
3. remote is not working at all
Otherwise playback is OK.
Any ideas what may be the culprit here? Apple states that Universal dock is compatible with 3rd generation of iPod and up.

What a coincidence as I too have had to find a new dock for my 3rd gen ipod. This week I purchased an Apple AV Connection kit - but found that it would not charge the ipod or respond to the remote. I also bought and tried a Belkin AC adapter with cable to power up the ipod but it too would not charge the ipod.
To see if these units were working I connected them to a friend's brand new ipod classic and both the Belkin and Apple AV Connection Kit worked fine - so there is something different about the 3rd gen ipod.
I'm not sure if this helps you - but at least you know it's not just your ipod that is not working with the new dock.

IPhone 4 not working with Sony docking station

Hi guys,
My iPhone 4 is no longer working with my Sony SRS-GU10 docking station. It connects with the docking station and charges, but there is no sound.
I've tried to reset my iPhone, but that didn't work. I've turned off the bluetooth and that didn't help. I blew into the iPhone connector and the docking station and got it working for 10mins. It's just strange how it's just stopped working! Just wondering if it's knackered or can be fixed???

IPhone doesn't work with Sony Marine Receiver CDX-H910UI

My iPhone doesn't seem to be working with my Sony Marine Receiver CDX-H910UI.
Whenever i plug my phone into my Marine Receiver it only says 'reading' for a really long time and does not load or allow me to play songs.
I have only noticed this problem since the iOS4.0.1 upgrade.
Is there anyway i can fix this problem or notify apple about this problem so that they could fix it in a software upgrade?
I would appreciate all of the help i could get.

I just got off from chatting with sony tech support and they confirmed that i need to wait for the update to be released to support the compatibility of the upgraded iPhone. They asked me tobookmark and monitor their support page for the update.
I had exactly the same problem as you have and whent through resetting both the iphone and stereo but at the endo no solution.

Why wont my iphone 4 to work with stereo dock

I recently got the new iphone 4 (I had the iphone 3 previously) and now I am finding that it does not seem to be compatible with some of my stereo accessories that worked just fine with the iphone 3. I have the Sony am/fm ipod stereo docking station and it will not work on that (nothing happens when I dock it, no sound or charge, nothing), nor will it work with the adaptor I have for my stereo system. Is there a setting on the phone that may resolve some of these issues or will I need to get new accessories? All this being said, the phone is working just fine with my car stereo adaptor, so I would think any settings (volume, etc) that would affect it's sound output would affect that as well........ also, the phone works just fine with all my chargers and usb cords too..........Any help with this would be greatly appreciated as I am experiencing great frustration not being able to listen to my music on my new fancy phone!!!!!!! at some point forget when
apple removed support for some firewire things in their pin30 connector which caused some older
accessories to stop working sounds like that could be what you're expeierncing

Cairo-dock doesn't work with cairo-dock-plugins

I installed cairo-dock 3.1.2-2 and cairo-compmgr-git 20130209-1. It runs without any problem. After installing cairo-dock-plug-ins 3.1.2-1 cairo-dock opens in maintenance mode.
When I try to start it in the console I get the following messages:

All the plugins seem to work more or less as long as the shortcuts plugin is unchecked. It still crashes every now an then. I removed cairo-dock and returned back to tint2.

Desktop ethernet doesn't work with university wall connection

I was using my desktop at my house prior to moving to college this year and its ethernet connection worked fine. When I plugged in to the wall in my student housing apartment, it won't connect. iwconfig says eth0 no wireless extensions. I tried to run ifcfg eth0 up but it says some host already uses up on eth0. It's really bizarre because nothing has changed; it worked at home and now plugging into an ethernet cable doesn't work. It does work when I plug it into my laptop running windows so I know the internet provider and router are working.

iwconfig is correct, isn't it? eth0 is a wired connection as you explain it so iWconfig won't be much help. You may find it helpful to review https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Be … he_network.
Do the same settings work at home and at school for your laptop?
If this is a university set up, is your laptop registered but not your desktop, for example? Most university networks don't allow you to just plug in and have it work - they only recognise registered machines.
Otherwise, you'll have to give a lot more information if you want help e.g. what sort of connection you're using, security, how you're trying to configure it, exact error messages, logs...

IPhone doesn't work with Apple ear buds . . .why?

I'm trying to use the ear buds that came with my 4S to listen to a radio program, but unless I keep holding the phone jack into the slot it keeps disconnecting and the program stops. What am I doing wrong? Do I have to twist it in or something? I've checked the case and it's not interfering with the jack.

Easy to fix it
1.Get a Cotton Bud
2.Insert it in to the Earpiece Input
3.Rub it inside the input(Be sure Nt to left any Cotton inside)
4.Pull Cotton Bud Out
5.Try to put the earPod In to the input
6.Make sure it is tiedly input Here(Here you have Earpod)
7.if this doesn't Work you might have a broken Earpod

...even though I do have the newest version (10.2.2. 64bit)... What can I do, can anybody help?
