  • Sync problem with itunes 64 bit

Hi, it's impossible to sync an iPhone 4 with iTunes 10.4 64 bit (sync in one step and in only few seconds but actually it do nothing) and cannot install iTunes 32 bit on windows 7 64 bit. Never had that problem on 32 bit.
    What can I do?

I worked though this issue today on my PC and I have it working.
The piece that worked for me was that you have to uninstall apple components in a specific order. I also rebooted my pc after the uninstalls were complete. I found this on the apple support site (see below).
    Uninstall in the following order:
    iTunes
    QuickTime
    Apple Software Update
    Apple Mobile Device Support
    Bonjour
Apple Application Support (iTunes 9 or later)
I then reinstalled 64bit Itunes by saving the package, right clicking and run as administrator.
This reinstalled itunes then I recieved another error, iphone could not be synced 13019. I researched this and I found out that the itunes library could not find one or more of my music files in the library these are denoted by an exclamation mark. I either had to delete the files or double click on the files and click locate and then point them to the location of the missing files. After I had found all of the files it was able to sucessfully sync and all is good.
    I hope this helps...

  • IPhone sync problem Windows 7 64 bit

I have a PC running Windows 7 64 bit. I get error messages nearly every time I try to sync my iPhone 4. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling iTunes 64 bit, latest version, but this does not solve the problem. iTunes is timing out my phone and will not sync. Any solutions? Am getting weary of going through an hour of this every day!
When my iPhone appears at all, I get a dialog box saying that another device has been synced to this computer. I am asked to restore from backup or install as a new device. Neither one works.
When/if iTunes does recognize myi iPhone, I get the error message "the iPhone [my phone name] cannot be synced. An error occurred while writing to the device.
My email and apps that come with the phone work OK, but any optional apps I installed will not open on the iPhone.
    Please help.

For the record, I then followed the suggestion of MarcDCMB in https://discussions.apple.com/thread/4291206 of just manually restarting the Apple Mobile Device service in Windows services.msc once each time after starting iTunes and the service no longer hogs CPU after that service restart.  Not too painful as a work-around, and apparently an effective one, but clearly not a solution to the problem.  Again, as above, all the other solutions didn't work for me and I have no conflicting software as far as I can tell. So you'd have to say this Apple's problem.
Also FTR, I am still on the 5.2.0.6 version of the Apple Mobile Device Support MSI and I don't know if that is relevant to this work-around working but my sense is that it is NOT relevant.  I'll report back on this thread if I re-upgrade and the problem returns in spite of the service-restart approach.

  • TS1567 iPhone Driver Problem

    Hi Guys....I have iphone 4 and i use windows 7 ultimate 64bit
For some reason i can not get iphone to be listed under "My Computer" and i can not syn photos taken on the iphone to the computer using iTunes. I read many article:
    https://discussions.apple.com/thread/2600731?start=0&tstart=0
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1538
and none seems to be solving my problem...despite having similar symptoms as others: iphone has an exlamation mark in Device Manager. and not being able to update iphone Driver.
I did all the iTunes reinstallation according to instructions in the above form...but no results. restated iphone, forced restart it, restarted Apple Mobile Service....etc.
I used "iexploerer" from Macroplant and it open the iphone folders but within a second or two it crashes....
Can someone from apple tell me what the **** is going on... i had this problem for more than a year and now i am fed up with it. Many people are suffering from it and apple does not seem to really provide and easy solution...how strange for a company that ought to provide the best UI experience to its customers!!!!!

  • New PC and diff. Drive letter for iTunes (Steps to take, please comment)

I have bought a new PC, and I want to transfer my library to my new pc but the problem is that the Driveletter will be different
(On my Old PC, Music is located on then E: Drive and on New Computer the music will be located on the D Drive)
Now I have the following Idea and I would like to know what the experts here think of it.
(First of course make backups copies of Music and .XML and .ITL files)
    On Old PC in iTunes,
    - Change Media Folder Location to External Drive (For example Drive Letter G:\)
(Note: "Copy files to itunes media folder ... " is already selected)
    - Deauthorize PC
    On New PC
    - install itunes.
    - after installing shutdown iTunes
    - Copy Library (.XML & .ITL) from old pc to new pc
    - connect External Drive (Make it again Driveletter G:\)
    - startup iTunes
    - If everything is oke, Change Media Folder Location from External Drive G:\ to Local Drive D:\
    - Authorize PC
    Am I missing something ?
    Thanks in advance

Sounds like you currently have a split library where the library files are at their default location in your user profile, but the the media folder is on an external/secondary drive. While it is possible to move such a library in the way you describe it may be easier if you can make the library "portable" before you start.
Here are typical layouts for the iTunes folders:
In the layout above, with the media folder (everything in the red box) inside the library folder, the library is considered to be portable. You can rearrange things to make a split library portable by taking a number of small steps which don't break the library.
    The basic non-fatal manipulations are:
-> You can connect to an alternate set of library files by holding down Shift (Win) or Option (Mac) when starting iTunes.
-> You can move the library files to a new location as long as the media stays out.
-> You can move the library files and the media together if the media folder is a direct subfolder of the library folder.
-> If you have already moved/copied the media content to a different location then you only need to copy the library files for it to appear as if you have moved the entire library in the way allowed above. I.e. just copy the library files into the parent folder of the media folder.
-> You can rename the media folder to *iTunes Media* (if it isn't already) if the media folder is inside the library folder.
-> iTunes uses the name of the folder holding the library files as the window title. Having made a library "portable" you may need to take a final step of renaming the library folder to iTunes or, if the library files have ended up at the root of a drive, moving all of the library files and content folders into a new folder called iTunes.
After each change you need to open, test and close the relevant library before attempting another change. If a change broke the library, undo it or revert to using the previous set of library files.
In essence all you need to do to make your library portable is copy the library files into the parent folder of the media folder on the external/secondary drive and use the hold-down-option-when-starting-iTunes method to connect to it. Other manipulations may be required to normalize the library so that the library and media folders have standard names.
Once you've made you current library portable you can take a complete clone of the iTunes folder onto your external drive, and then copy that folder into your new computer. Rather than looking at this as a one time proposition you should aim to keep the copy of the library on your external drive as a backup.
*Fast backup for iTunes library (Windows Only)*
Grab SyncToy 2.1, a free tool from MS. This can be used to copy your entire iTunes library (& other important data folders) onto another hard drive or network share. You can then use SyncToy periodically to synchronise or echo your library to the backup. A preview will show which files need to be updated giving you a chance to spot unexpected changes and during the run only the new or updated files will be copied saving lots of time. And if your media is all organised below the main iTunes folder then you should also be able to open the backup library on any system running the same version of iTunes.
Don't forget to deauthorise the old computer if you're not planning to use iTunes on it again.

  • Win XP : problems for itune to connect the airport remote speakers

    Hi there,
My config is iTunes installed on my PC, a Tecom wifi router and two airport express base stations connected to speakers in different rooms of my flat.
At first, iTunes has no problem for seeing the airport stations and the music goes well through the wifi.
After two or three days, the PC doesn't see the stations anymore in iTunes (they actually still show, but in gray) .
If I want them to be seen again, I need to close iTunes, go to "connexions", disconnect my PC from the network, connect again, run iTunes again, and then... it works !
That's a bit boring. As strange as it could be, the act of shuting down my PC every night and running it "fresh" every morning doesn't help.
Has any one any suggestion on how it could work better ?

Hello Deb Parks. Welcome to the Apple Discussions!
I'm not sure if, by product key, you mean the encryption password for your 802.11n AirPort Extreme Base Station's (AEBSn) wireless network. Is your AEBSn's wireless network currently running encryption (WEP or WPA)? If so, temporarily disable it, and then, see if the PC can connect.

  • External Hard Drive problems with iTunes and iPod

I recently purchased a 320 gig external hard drive for my computer, hoping in part to load my iTunes library onto it. Obviously I'd have much more room on disc than my actual iPod, so I was going to manually manage my music (an option I didn't have selected on my iPod before).
I followed all the online help topics which have all been helpful so far. I organized my music files, changed my directory, consolidated my library, and now everything is on the external hard drive and is working just fine.
The problem comes when I connect my iPod. iTunes barely even seems to recognize my iPod all of a sudden, saying that it has been corrupted and needs to be restored. When I try restoring it, nothing happens, and I can't seem to do a thing about it through iTunes. Of course, there's actually nothing wrong with the iPod at all, since it still works fine and plays music exactly the same as before. It simply won't update or do anything at all when hooked up to my computer.
I know this has something to do with the new hard drive, since everything was just fine a few hours ago, I just can't figure out why I can't get my iPod to sync all of a sudden. Like I said, my iPod is working fine otherwise, iTunes is playing music through the external hard drive without any issues, and I haven't touched any files other than music files (I haven't even deleted them off my original hard drive yet, so all the original fines remain unchanged, even though I switched the directory).
To the best of my knowledge, all my software is up to date, and the iPod is a 30 gig photo. Any ideas?
    pc   Windows XP

Yeah, I gave the new drive the letter Z, so there shouldn't have been any conflicts there. I also tried your other suggestion, and while the computer recognized my external hard drive, it didn't seem to make any difference once I plugged in the iPod again.
I've been wrestling with this for days now. I've tried changing the drive letters for both the external hard drive and my iPod several times (but no matter what, the iPod always seems to take F when it's unplugged and then plugged back in). I've tried restoring the iPod on multiple occasions. I've tried reinstalling all my USB drivers. I've consolidated my music library on several occasions (I now have two identical libraries on my external hard drive), yet annoyingly, iTunes seems to keep switching file paths away from the external hard drive and back to their original locations on the C drive. I'm trying to free up internal hard drive space, not house 30 gigs of media on it. That's what this new external hard drive is for.
Somehow, I was able to get them both to be recognized at the same time, but it never lasts long. I'll start iTunes with the external hard drive disconnected, plug in my iPod, wait for the iPod screen to come up in iTunes, then plug my external hard drive back in. Then, I can miraculously start to transfer music back onto my iPod, but iTunes doesn't seem to want this to happen for some reason, and will usually cut off the transfer. So far I've managed to put three whole songs on my iPod.
So now I'm trying to do two things. One, the same as before, get my computer and iTunes to recognize both my iPod and my external hard dive at the same time. And two, get iTunes to stop changing the file paths back to the C drive. These files are already on my external hard drive and don't need to change.
(As a side note, I should comment on how helpful people are on this discussion board. The Apple representitives I called on several occasions seemed totally unwilling to help, acting more like pushy salesmen than anything, while people here seem to be much more friendly and knowledgeable. Just thought it needed to be said.)

  • I just did an itunes update on my windows vista 64 and have been getting a runtime error eversense.  Unstalled everything apple per microsoft forum discussions and solved the problem.  When is apple going to update this problem for itunes?

I just recently did an itunes update on my Windows Vista 64 and have been getting a runtime C++ R0634 error ever since. Per microsoft forum discussions, I have removed everything apple on my computer to get this runtime error to stop.  When I tried to remove and reinstall itunes, I get an error message during installation and to try again. Has just become a cycle.  Apple, are you working on this?

I have exactly the same problem.  Got update notice from Apple for iTunes and getting the C++ runtime error R0634 ever since.  I have no clue how to fix it....meantime, I can't even pull up Outlook to check email.  HELP!!

  • Apple TV & Time Capsule's Hard Drive Used for iTunes Media Only !

I would like to use the Time Capsule Hard Drive just for my iTunes. Not Time Machine. Time Capsule will be my Wireless Base Station (router) as well. But I'm going to plug my Mac Mini into the Time Capsule via Gigabit Ethernet. Will this work & how well (fast) will it stream the media from my iTunes to the Apple TV? I'm not synching any files on the Apple TV's Hard Drive. All Video & Music will be streaming! I know this is not what Time Capsule was intended for, but will it work & again, how well will it stream ? Is there a downside to setting it up this way ? Also, I'm not buying any Movies from the iTunes store. Thanks in advance!

OK, so having my Mac & TC hardwired by Ethernet, is like having the Hard Drive inside the TC hard wired to my Mac? Correct ? I'm sorry to repeat myself but I'm just trying to understand all this. I'm bad with Networking! So you think I should be streaming OK even with watching a movie I have in iTunes (which lives on the TC Internal Hard Drive) on my Apple TV? My Apple TV will be used Wirelessly. No Ethernet to Apple TV. Again, I appreciate the help. I don't want to buy it & find I can't do what I want. B&H in NY have the older TC 500 GB Model for $199.95 And I have a crappy router currently. So I figure I can kill 2 birds with one stone.( I love Birds. It's just an expression! If it works, it would be ideal for my situation.
