IPhone email like BLACKBERRY?

I have noticed that the emails on the iPhone are not shown unless you click on the mail app.
Is there something in the settings that i can do to change that and make it appear without me going into the mail (like blackberry)
Being a blackberry user, email was the one thing it had over every other smartphone...this iPhone email is killing me!

Email constantly reaching out to the server to grab new mail is the one thing that will drain the battery more quickly. If you want it to push the mail as soon as it arrives, like your BB you will also have to enable Push. It will decrease your battery life more than Fetch.

Will iCloud allow push email like Blackberry (immediately receiving aol email)?

    "I don't mean fetch (quickest at 15 minutes) "
Nor do I.  I get push mail immediately and have for years.
"The iPhone does not do that now "
It does indeed do that now, and has for some time.
it is true push now and has been.
Your e-mail provider must support this.

  • Why can't i put an out of office on my iphone email? Blackberry and other android phones will allow this feature.

I just purchased my iPhone, one thing I don't like is that with my Blackberry it allowed me to put an Out of Office reply to my emails. I thought the iPhone was a leader!!! Blackberry and other Android phones can do it.

Why can't you?  Simple..Apple doesn't include that feature.
    Download and use iMExchange instead.

  • Outlook widget to forward emails like blackberry?

My collegue has just received a Nokia E71 after upgrading from a Balckberry.
With the blackberry, she installed a program on her computer that automatically forwarded the emails received in Outlook to a blackberry address. She could then connect to the blackberry address and access the emails.
My question is, how can I do something similar with the Nokia Pc Suite?
We cannot get her to connect directly to our mail server. We also want the nokia to sync with Outlook when connected to the PC.

For the Auto-forward you'll need to setup intermediate e-mail server (Gmail for example). Then simply auto-forward the emails - no need to install anything, simply use the Outlook filters:
    http://ittraining.lse.ac.uk/Documentation/OnlineGuides/Forward-your-email.htm
...and setup the phone to fetch the mails from Gmail...
    Thus the scheme will be:
    Company POP/IMAP -> Outlook -> GMail -> Phone
This approach is de facto a copy of the Blackberry solution, with the sole difference that the intermediate mailing server is offered by Blackberry.
The syncing can be done - use PC Sync in the Nokia PC Suite... Just connect the phone and start the Synchronize application in the PC Suite window. Then setup the sync itself.

  • Is there a voice recording app for ipad that shares directly via iMessage (not just email) - like voice memos does on iphone?

Does any-one perhaps know whether there's a voice recording app for ipad that shares directly via iMessage (not just email) - like voice memo does on iphone?

You can't do anything in the background of iOS. Apps are still one at a time (with a few exceptions like Music), and suspend when the app is closed. It's also against the App Store guidelines to sell apps that would allow such actions.
Though, maybe you could get your Voice Memos saved to MP3's, which can play in the background of other apps.

  • After upgrading to ios6 my iphone will not open .xls files in emails with the default viewer. Is there a fix for this? The same emailed .xls files still open on my ipad using ios5 while viewing email like they did on my iphone prior to upgrading.

After upgrading to ios6 my iphone will not open .xls files in emails with the default viewer. Is there a fix for this? The same emailed .xls files still open on my ipad using ios5 while viewing email like they did on my iphone prior to upgrading. I have no special software like numbers or anything else installed on either device. Just using the default viewer provided by apple for viewing email.

The attachment is an .xls excel 97-2003 spreadsheet. I viewed the file in the email and did not edit it with any software. I can forward the file to anyone that is may want to check it out to see if they can help me. I was wondering if there was some way of forcing another ios6 install on my phone and maybe that would solve it.
Is there anyone out there that is viewing .xls files in email using ios6 w/o any other software installed like numbers or any other add ons? I am not upgrading my ipad from ios5 to ios6 so I can still continue to view the emails on my ipad. Is there an email viewer .xls plug-in that will be availablle in the next ios6 update?

  • TS3899 I just switched to Iphone 5c from Blackberry...is there a way to jump from the 1st email listed to the bottom of the list (sometimes 300-400) without scrolling manually thru them all?  Also is there a way to organize them by sender?

Well, I think I know why the rules are not working. The alias mailbox is being listed as another mail folder  and not as an actual inbox so the rules are not being applied. While I wish the rules would work, I will continue to manually mark some of the emails as spam.
As for the second issue with emails vanishing, I am waiting to see if it happens again. I think it must happen when it is syncing the data but I am not sure that it happens all the time. Today the previous emails seem to be their and it grabbed the new email so I don't know what happened with the vanishing email. Anyway this can be closed since I believe the main issue has been solved as being a setup issue with Yahoo alias email account.

  • HT1277 How to transfer all folders from hotmail account to Mac email (like iphone/ipad) ?

I want to install my mac email like my iphone. I know iphone use m.hotmail.com server, but mac use pop3.
Please let me know how to change setting if I like iphone email.

    Hi again Chris,
I transferred all the data from the son-in-law`s 4s onto my Mac as described in the article but for some reason the photos he had on his phone did not seem to transfer across as far as I can tell because once I did the transfer back to his new 5c phone there were no images there. He tells me everything else he had has come across. The only other thing he said was that he lost his place on the App Candy Crunch. The app has appeared on his screen but he has been sent back to square one to start all over again. I talked to him today and he is not too bothered now about that although I think he was at level 247. His only concern now is his images which were many of his children etc. which he would still like transferred to his new phone. I have not done anything yet to his old phone as of yet until I solve the photo problem. What I did do was to download all the images to a separate file on my computer so at least they are not lost completely and are still viewable on the 4s. Any ideas as to why they are not showing up on the backup I did to iTunes?
Apologies for being so long winded about this but I wanted to give you as much info as possible to consider.
Thanks for your help in this matter - appreciated.

  • App that make screen like blackberry

I'm looking for an app that will display all of the things on my schedule at the front screen like blackberry. you know when u look at a blackberry screen there will be list of what u input just to remind u every time u look at the phone. I don't wanna go all the way in the calendar. It would be easier to just look at the first screen and know what u have to do.
Is that any app like that for iPhone?

I don't think an App would work like that, because it would have to be "open" and running all the time. But, most apps close when your phone rings, you need to send a text, you turn off the phone, etc.

  • IPhone email font with exchange

We have corporate standards for email font settings. Can the iPhone email be changed for the outgoing email font settings?

    No.
I don't know of any mobile device that can do this. My previous Blackberry or Windows Mobile devices could not.
Plain text is what mobile devices do. I am guessing there are no official corporate mobile email devices? If so, what do those users do if plain text is the only option?

  • Chunk of iPhone emails missing

I've not had this problem on my IMAP email before.  About a months worth of emails has disappeared from my iPhone email.  They appear in webmail and mac mail, but not on the iPhone.  I get one from yesterday, then a missing month or so, and then some more from back in March.
Tried removing the mail account on the iPhone and re-adding it but to no avail.
Looks like there is some iPhone email cache that needs to be reset, but how???

Hello, and welcome to the Discussions.
Try using the Rebuild command on this mailbox to which you moved the messages. Click on Mailbox in the menubar, and choose Rebuild. Be aware that the list of messages will disappear at one point, before returning.

  • Iphone Email Download

My iPhone email has just downloaded 1800 old emails? How do I remove them all at once and stop it from happening again?
    Thank you

    You're welcome.
Different from a Blackberry, the iPhone's Mail app communicates direct with the incoming mail server for an email account, no different from accessing an account with an email client on your computer such as with Entourage. RIM provides a dedicated email delivery service that all email accounts must be accessed through with a Blackberry, which includes some features and benefits not available with a standard email client that communicates direct with the incoming mail server for an email account.
Apple doesn't make the rules in regards to standards, capabilities, and limitations with a POP account.
The only way to get around this besides your employer joining the 21st century in this regard is not have Entourage running and actively checking the account for new messages while your iPhone is doing the same and vice-versa.

  • IPhone email notification sounds quiet times?

I like to use iPhone email but the sounds wake me up.
Rather than turning the notification sound off every day
    Can you set quiet times?
I can on gmail push app
    Thanks

Flip the mute switch on the side before you go to bed. Clock alarms still sound.

  • Apple Mail and Yahoo Web Mail won't work when iPhone Email Active

It is interesting that when I have my iPhone email active, if I try to download messages to Apple Mail on a regular computer, I get the enter password screen over and over (password is already in the system) so I never get mail. Also when I have my iPhone active I get an error message on Yahoo Web Mail. When I turn off my iPhone email, I get access to both Apple Mail and Yahoo Web Mail. I have tested this on several occasions and it always happens like this. Would like not to have to turn off my iPhone email when I go to a regular computer to access Apple Mail or Yahoo Web Mail.

    dddog,
Are you accessing the Yahoo email or the email on your computer as POP3?
If so this article would apply:

    Hope this helps,

  • Iphone email problem-has anyone had a problem caused by the VPN app, Hotspot Shield?

Has anyone had an iPhone email problem associated with the VPN app, Hotspot Shield?

I just want to make a record for the Apple Community. After installing Hotspot Shield on my iPhone 5, I developed a host of email problems including erratic reception and recurrent failures to send emails. I called Apple Support and, after standard repair measures failed (like deleting email accounts and reinstalling them) was advised to try deleting Hotspot Shield.
Removal of Hotspot Shield was unexpectedly difficult (simple deletion of the icon that works with other Apps did not suffice). With the help of Apple Support, the Hotspot Shield app was finally eradicated. The result was that all the email problems disappeared.
Again, I just wish to make this record of iPhone email trouble clearly caused by Hotspot Shield available in case someone else runs into the same problem. I did not contact Hotspot Shield but the point is that I began with an email problem that was mysterious to Apple Support and we finally traced it to a recent installation of Hotspot Shield.
