IPhone email (one acct dead, other receives but won't send)
I usually use Entourage, so I set up email in Mac Mail since that's the program iPhone reads from, correct? I have two email addresses, both with same provider (our own website via Hostway) and I receive and send both accounts fine in MacMail. On the iPhone however, I'm getting email for only one of the two accounts. And for that one that i can receive email from, I can't send to.
I am used to the SMTP settings, but if I change it on the phone won't it just override it the next time it syncs with MacMail, which works fine?
I've tried to look through other threads but I didn't see anything for this specific problem.
thanks
enzo
The iPhone only reads settings from mail.app if that option is checked in iTunes under the info tab when the iPhone is connected. You can set up the email on the phone independent of what is on your computer. Are these pop accounts, and what type of error do you receive for the account that can't receive email? And for the account that can't send, what errors are you receiving? A common problem is that the outgoing mail server for most ISPs can only be used when on that ISPs network without authentication. If your ISPs smtp server does not allow authentication from other networks, you'll have to use another smtp server for the outgoing email.
In my case, my cable internet provider's email is received fine, but I cannot send email from that account using their smtp server (either on the phone or my MBP). So I have that account set to use a gmail smtp server instead so it can send email from any network.

Apple mail receives, but won't send
This is my last resort. I've double-checked with my provider and all is ok on their end. I have deleted settings and set them up as per their recommendations several times to no avail. I can receive emails, but will not send and consistently get warnings about various things such as the password is invalid, there's an invalid certificate or just that it can't connect. The strange thing is, it all works fine on both my iPad and iPhone.
I've tried several searches on the community forum and noticed several problems that were similar. I hope someone has an answer that relates to this problem in regard to Yosemite.

Imac mail receives, but won't send
I can receive from my acounts, but none will send.
When I use the exact same settings in Entourage it works fine...but imail should work, no?Perhaps you need to recheck your settings to make sure they're configured correctly. This site show the proceedure quite clearly (with screen pics) http://www.cit.cornell.edu/helpdesk/mac/email/osxmailapp.html

Will receive, but won't send pics...
Hi everyone! I'm hoing someone can help me with this issue cause it is infuriating! I can receive MMS pic messages, but I cannot send them... whether I take the pic myself and try to send it or whether I receive a pic and try to forward it, it will not send either way! I've had the problem of not being able to send or receive MMS messages in the past, and I took out my battery without shutting my phone off and that seemed to do the trick, but I tried that this time and it didn't work! I'm getting extremly frustrated so if anyone has any ideas on how I can fix this I'd be so greatful to hear your input! Thanks in advance for your help! -Gina
Hi and welcome to the forums!
Well the battery pull is always a good first step.!
Are you able to tell what size message is guaranteed to fail, or is it random?
View the size of an MMS message before sending it
1. In an MMS message, press the Menu key.
2. Click Options.
The Estimated Size field displays the size of the MMS message
KB13667Unable to send photos in MMS message
Make sure you have set your camera options so you can reduce the size of the picture.
I would also make sure that you resend your service books.

Server receives, but won't send
Hi,
I have setup my 10.4.11 server to send email through mail relay 172.17.3.247, but logging at the logs it is trying to send email to the clients directly. I have put the ip address in, relay outgoing email through host in the gui, but it seems to be ignoring that setting.
Anyone know why this doesn't work?
Best wishes
MichaelHi Alex,
I finally got it sorted out. The relay section at the bottom of main.cf was blank. When I did a search in the file I found a section for relay, but it wasn't that part that needed the relay server. It was the part at the bottom.
Thanks for your help. It was indeed that command that helped me find it.
Best wishes

Entourage Receives But Won't Send Emails
My Entourage had been working perfect for about a year until 2 weeks ago when it stopped sending emails. I can receive emails but when I attempt to send them the following message comes up:
"An operation on the server timed out. The server may be down, overloaded, or there may be too myuch net traffic. "
If that happened once I'd be understand, but I havent been able to send mail now for 2 weeks so I know its not the server. Can anyone help?Hi Joel.
Couple of things.
1) Have you talked to your mail provider to make sure that you have your settings correct, still? Or have you triple checked your settings?
2) Any changes to firewall settings?
3) Did you add/change any other software on the day that mail stopped sending?
(Quit Entourage for the next steps)
4) Repair Permissions?
5) Do keychainAccess firstaid, or remove the password in Keychain for this server. Then restart the Mac. Then restart Entourage

Mac Mail 7.3 receives but won't send on iMac running OS X 10.9.5
My spouse has an iMac (Intel) running OS X 10.9.5 and Mail 7.3 has suddenly stopped sending email. It receives just fine. I also have an iMac (slightly larger) running the same software and I can send just fine. We are both using comcast.net. I've repaired permissions. Reset the routers and everything, but it still won't work. We can both send from our iPads and iPhones.

Mail receives but won't send. Upgrade to Lion hasn't helped
Mail can send messages but is not receiving any.
Hi, once you have all the correct outgoing server and incoming server settings check your router.
I had the same issue and tried many times to change the settings in mail and still couldn't send.
View the router settings and check the devices, if your Macbook is listed as Unknown xx-xx-xx change its name to a single word e.g Macbook.
Go back to mail if it still doesn't work remove the account and add back.
This worked first time for me -
Mail receives but won't send. Why?
Error message says something to do with outgoing mail server (SMTP) having a problem or being incorrect. I have made no changes to settings nor have I upgraded or changed my Apple Mail.
Does this have anything to do with the discontinuation of MobileMe? My email address I'm using is [email protected] .
This problem was intermittent, but now it seems to be steady and continuous.Hello Earnie, I believe it is MobileMe being discontinued.
Do not delete the old account yet. sign up for an iCloud account if you haven't.
I understand .mac mail will still come through. Do not delete the old account yet.
You cannot use .mac or MobileMe as type of Account, you have to choose IMAP when setting up, otherwise Mail is hard coded to change imap.mail.me.com to mail.me.com & smtp.mail.me.com to smtp.me.com, no matter what you try to enter.
iCloud Mail setup, do not choose .mac or MobileMe as type, but choose IMAP...
On second step where it asks "Description", it has to be a unique name, but you can still use your email address.
IMAP (Incoming Mail Server) information:
• Server name: imap.mail.me.com
• SSL Required: Yes
• Port: 993
• Username: [email protected] (use your @me.com address from your iCloud account)
• Password: Your iCloud password
SMTP (outgoing mail server) information:
• Server name: smtp.mail.me.com
• SSL Required: Yes
• Port: 587
• SMTP Authentication Required: Yes
• Username: [email protected] (use your @me.com address from your iCloud account)
• Password: Your iCloud password
Also, you must upgrade your password to meet the new criteria: 8 characters, including upper and lower case and numbers. If you have an older password that does not meet these criteria, when you try to setup mail on your mac, using all of the IMAP criteria listed above, it will still give a server error message. Go to http://appleid.apple.com then follow directions to change your password, then go back to setting up your mail using the IMAP instructions above.
Thanks to dpepper...

Entourage receives but won't send
my entourage suddenly no longer manages to connect to my service provider's smtp server. it's still connecting to the pop server and receiving e-mails. but when i try to send it just times out. none of the account settings have changed.
this seems to have coincided with a software update i downloaded for time capsule.
any ideas on how i might fix this?
thanksWelcome to the discussions!
I've experienced this was well with Entourage. Powering down the entire system for a few minutes, then starting the modem first and letting it run for 4-5 minutes, then the router for a few minutes and finally the computers has corrected this issue. It's worth a try.
If you continue to experience problems, contact your ISP to have them test the connection. -

Hello i payed a Iphone4s and i will registried of my account i can,t do this he says the iphone is registy of a other user but i can ussing i cloud and ican found my iphone but the old owner has this remove from his i,cloud
but she by this iphone from a other owner and sche has no contact to the owner
sory my englisch are not perfecktThere is a possibility that you've bought a stolen iphone which has an iClould lock on it. The only way to remove an iCloud lock is to contact the previous owner of your phone and inform him of your problem. But you dont know who the previous owner is hence you cant unlock your phone. Do a fresh restore with itunes by connecting your iphone to your pc, opening up itunes and clicking restore. I'm not sure if that'll help, but it's worth a try. Hope I helped. Cheers
