IPhone events don't sync to iCal

Problem Summary:
Events created on my iPhone do not sync over to my iCal on my computer.
Tech Specs:
* iPhone 4S, running iOS 6.1.3
* MacBook Pro, running OS X 10.6.8
* Sync via cable directly onto mac (not wifi, not iCloud)
Potentially Useful Observations:
* Events created on iCal do sync back to iPhone; only iPhone --> iCal fails.
* Partially edited histories of events sometimes also sync as duplicates back to iPhone (ex: on iCal on my computer I create an event "event 4" to occur at 2 pm, then I edit it to be "event 5" at 4 pm instead, then I sync my phone.  My phone will get both an "event 4" @ 2, and an "event 5" @ 4 appear in its mobile iCal app, while the iCal on my computer only retains the most recent version -- "event 5" @ 4).
* Roughly 1/3 to 1/2 the time I try to sync, I get the following error:
However, the phone is still connected, and I can continue to interact with it through iTunes after the failed sync.  iCal event syncing fails regardless of whether or not this error occurs.
(Failed) Strategies I Have Tried to Fix / Diagnose the Problem:
* Restarting iTunes
* Restarting computer
* Creating a new "test calendar" in iCal (it experienced the same syncing problems)
* Trying both the "All Calendars" or "Selected Calendars" syncing options in the "Info" tab in the iTunes phone syncing menu
* Resetting sync history through iSync preferences
* Deleting the calendar cache file in ~/Library/Calendars.
* Various combinations of the above (although if there is a specific combo you think would work, please let me know in case I did not try it)
Any suggestions or pointers to other posts offering different suggestions beyond what I have already tried (I did some browsing before posting) would be greatly appreciated.
Many thanks,
Sean

I just encountered a similar problem after updating from Snow Leopard to Mountain Lion with my old iPod touch (iOS4). Phononic's suggestion to delete the cach file in ~/Library/Calendars is close. Try this:
- in iCal, make a backup (File>Export>Calendar Archive)
- close iCal.
- delete the ~/Library/Calendars directory (or rename it ~/Library/Calendars.bak)
- open up iCal. There should be no events.
- sync your device through iTunes. This should remove all entries on your device.
- in iCal, restore the backup (File>Import)
- sync your device through iTunes again. This should restore all entries.
Seems to work so far, but haven't tested it on all my devices yet.
In Mountian Lion, there is a trick to locate the \Library directory. In Finder, ,selct "GO", then press the <option> key. "Library" will appear in the dropdown. Calendars is in there.

  • New Events Created on iPhone Still Don't Sync to iCal 3

I have been having the same problems that others have had:  events that I create on my iPhone do not sync with iCal since I upgraded to 10.5.
But now I noticed something even more bizarre.  After upgrading to 10.5.1, the pop-up menu in Itunes "Put new events created on the iPhone into this calendar" has switched from one of my calendars to a calendar labeled "Home."  The only problem is I don't have a calendar called "Home."  Nor does this "Home" calendar show up in other contextual menus in either iCal or Mail.  Odd.

I found a solution that worked for me. http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=6002974&#6002974 said to Export and delete my calendars. I did that. As soon as I did though, I got a merging problem. I followed what http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=5772325&#5772325 said and replaced my iPhone calendar with my iCal data (of course I made sure important events were in iCal first). But they talk to each other now and all is well in the universe again.

  • IPhone 4S reminders don't sync with iCal

I have a new iPhone 4S and I can't get my reminders to sync from iCal to the iPhone and viceversa. In iCal, i have the right panel open that says "reminders" and they are not showing up in the reminders app on the iPhone. Also, reminders I create on the iPhone don't sync to iCal. I am not using iCloud, I just want to sync the two like I sync my address book, or events, etc. Anyone know what's up?

    Anyone? haha.

  • Events don't sync from macbook to iphone 4s

events don't sync from mac to iphone
new events from my iphon sync to mac
but not from mac to iphone
    I'v installed icloud etc

    tintintin,
Make sure that you are creating events on your iCloud calendars. If you are creating events in calendars which are under the "On My Mac" category, they will not sync with iCloud.

  • IPhone Calendar Changes not Syncing with ICal

Additions and changes to my iPhone calendar are not synced with ICal on my Mac. Syncing the other direction (adding or changing appointments on my Mac) works, but nothing I change or add on my iPhone appears on my Mac (the same seems to be true of contacts and notes). I have the same problem with an iPod touch.
Has anyone else experienced (and fixed) a similar problem? As it ism the iPhone-Mac sync only works in one direction!

I had the same problem, and then all my calendars stopped syncing either way. They picked a beautiful time to do it, too... right as I was leaving on a business/pleasure vacation where I was making on the fly appointments. grumble
However, I fixed it tonight. Here is what I did.
    1. Back up (export) all your iCal calendars. (not just good practice, you'll need them later) Make sure iCal is closed.
    2. under ~/Library/Application Support/iCal delete everything.
    3. under ~/Library/Calendars delete everything
    4. Sync your phone.
At this point you should have your phone overwriting everything in iCal. If your problem is ONLY syncing from phone to iCal you should be good to go, if you can't sync either way, you'll need to:
    5. Drag all your backed up calendars back to iCal. In theory they will sort themselves out, but you might have some duplicates between stuff you've created on your phone and in iCal.
I don't know if this will keep the problem from occurring again, but at the very least, I was able to test out my ability to create events on either side, and it works.
I kept hoping that the last iPhone update would solve this for me, alas!

  • IPhone 5 will not sync with iCal

iphone 5 will not sync with ical using 10.7.5 please help

Thanks. There is another thread that shares a solution that involves deleting ical Library cache files and Preference files.  I"ll see if that works.  ICloud shouldn't be a factor in my case since I don't use it and it's "off" in Preferences. I am encouraged that I don't need to use it to fix this issue based on other's experiences, but we'll see!

In iTunes 11 go to View>Show Sidebar.  You can then view you phone as you could with previous versions.  To register your phone go to https://register.apple.com/cgi-bin/WebObjects/GlobaliReg.woa.

  • Why iPhone & MacBook don't sync messages?

Why iPhone & MacBook don't sync messages?

Associate your mobile number with your Apple ID, if you haven't already done so.
Sign out of iMessage on the Mac:
Messages ▹ Preferences ▹ Accounts ▹ Sign out
    and on the iPhone:
Settings ▹ Messages ▹ Send & Receive ▹ Apple ID ▹ Sign out
    Then, on the phone, tap
Use Your Apple ID for iMessage
Sign back into iMessage on both devices and test. If there's no change, you may have to wait for a change in network conditions.

  • On my iPhone notes don't sync??

The notes on my iPhone 4S don't sync to my iPad or MacBook.  They are tied to the 'account' On My iPhone.
I have enabled iCloud on the MacBook and on the iPhone.
I am running IOS 7.0.3 and Mac OS 10.9
Can I somehow merge the notes with the @me.com account that is also shows up in the phone's settings?  Would that even make a difference?
I have a feeling I am missing something obvious but just as obviously don't have a clue what it might be.
Anyone have an idea I might try?
    Thanks in advance

I don't think my question was as clear as it could have been.
The iPhone shows two accounts in "Settings" --> "Notes" : an @me.com account and "On My iPhone".  The latter is the default account.
Notes tied to the @me.com account sync across the MacBook running Mavericks, the iPhone and the iPad, both of which are running 7.0.3.
So, it seems to me that the problem is not in some failure to set up iCloud syncing but rather this "On My iPhone" account.  The iCloud syncing routines need to somehow get to it and get it to the 'cloud'.  As you probably know the iPad has a similar "On My iPad" account.  Are these accounts intended to remain tied to the named device or are the actually candidates for syncing via the cloud??
    Am I mistaken?

  • Calendar sync issue: new iphone events don't.

Just updated the new Itunes 7.3.1 last night. I noticed today that when I add an event on my iphone it does not sync to the iCal. Only events I add on my computer sync to the iphone. In fact the syncronization erases the event on my iphone completely. Suggestions?

I ended up calling tech support. It appears there was a corrupted sync preference. There seems to be issues regarding users who previously used PALM and transitioned to iPhone. I did note some error codes about "transport monitor". I was instructed to start with reinstalling the system folder. Once I went through all the "updates" to 10.4.10, I also had to reinstall iTunes. I ended up dumping my PALM folder (saved the user file because who knows!). A fairly long drawn out process but things appear to be working.

  • IPhone calendar will not sync with iCal on Mac

Calendar entries on my iPhone 4S/iOS 5.1 will not sync with iCal on my MacBook Pro 2.4/10.6.8, but it will the other way around. I have tried:
    Restarting iPhone
Re-setting sync services (holding down Option key and clicking on Sync icon in menu bar)
Changing which calendar to sync with (iTunes 10.6.1)
This may have something to do with having to do a complete Time Machine backup after a Volume Optimisation with Tech Tool Pro rendered my startup disk as un-bootable....???
I do not use Mobile Me or iCloud (can't with Snow Leopard...) and it is a straight USB connection.
I consider myself a medium expert, with no programming/Terminal skills whatsoever.
    Any help is appreciated.

  • ICal / iPhone sync problems - events don't appear in iCal

I have MobileMe set up on both my MacBook and iPhone. All iCal-created events now appear on my iPhone (although only those after 9th May 2008; none before), but if I create an event on my iPhone then it doesn't show up on iCal. If I check MobileMe on the internet, my web-based version of iCal has all events, including those that I create on the iPhone.
On iCal I have two calendar types: Home (Blue) and Work (Green). On my iPhone there are now four types, for some reason: two Homes (both Blue) and two Works (both Green). I have tried experimenting by creating events in all calendars, but none sync to appear in iCal on my MacBook.
    Help!

After 3.5 hours on the phone with applecare, I believe this problem of not syncing ical from ipod touch to the ical app is resolved. Here are the steps that made it happen for me:
Log out of main account and log into root account. If you haven't set up the root user yet follow the directions in your Mac Help on your computer. Make sure you understand the implications of setting up the root user account. You may want to disable the root user after you are done with this fix.
In Finder, navigate to /Users/(your account)/Library/Application Support and delete every folder in the Application Support directory that has the word 'Sync' in the folder's name.
Log out of the root account and back into your main account. Sync your ipod touch / iphone and see if this worked for you.
    Good Luck!

  • The events I create on my Iphone 4 are not syncing with iCal.

Everything was fine until I updated the software on the phone to the iOS 5 and now I notice that events which I originated on my phone will not sync with my computer's iCal.  I believe that things which are on my ICal will sync with my phone but not vice versa.  I've tried changing the settings in iCal, ITunes and on my Iphone.  Any suggestions on how to fix this.

  • Events entered in iphone calendar won't sync to ical

For some reason, if i add an event to my calendar on my iphone4 it is not showing them in iCal.
Have got sync box checked in the info part of itunes, can't think of anything else
    anyone?

    The tech way longer.....
Open iCal and backup or export your entries. Make a note of the fie name and location, you're going to need them in a minute. Once your backup/export is completed, close the iCal application.
Open Finder and remove everything inside the "Username/Library/Calendars" folder. For instance, if your username is "Joe", then move everything inside the "Joe/Library/Calendars" folder.
Open the iSync application. It's located in the "/Applications/" folder. Once iSync is opened, go into the iSync Preferences (iSync -> Preferences) and push/click the "Reset Sync History" button. Then, close the iSync application.
Re-Open the iCal application and Import (File -> Import) a new calendar. When prompted, use your notes from Step #1 to select the file your created earlier. Once completed, close the iCal application (you should have all of your calendar entries back.)
Open the iTunes application and connect your Apple iPhone to the computer.
Within the Advanced section of the Info tab for the Apple iPhone, check the box the overwrites/replaces the Calendar data on the Apple iPhone.
Click the Apple/Sync button. New, modified and deleted entries should now be syncing correctly.

  • IPhone 4s Won't Sync All iCal Events

After I sync my new iPhone 4s (iOS 5.0.1) using iTunes (10.5.3) on my MacBook Pro (OS 10.6.8), all the iCal events on the MacBook Pro do not show up in the calendar app on the iPhone. I have already searched the Apple support data base, with no luck. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Well, I figured it out. The events that weren't syncing from my laptop to my iPhone were events for which I had changed the "calendar". In other words, I set up some events in iCal, all of which were part off the same calendar, but then I didn't like the color of those events. So I created a new calendar and changed these events by right clicking on them to assign them to the new calendar. Somehow, moving these events from the calendar they were created on to a different one caused them not to be recognized by the sync process. This sounds like a bug to me.
