IPhone - Exchange 2003 - Downloading entire mailbox everytime iPhone Sleeps

iPhone keeps downloading the entire mailbox, every time it awakes from sleep mode. Is there anything that could be causing this?

Hi mehrardt,
It does sound like the exchange email account has to be removed from the iPhone and then added again.
If he has another personal email account on the iPhone, you can have him delete the exchange account and then tap a configuration profile that you emailed him.
The iPhone Configuration Utility available here: http://www.apple.com/support/iphone/enterprise/ will let you create a configuration profile with certificates, which you can email. The receiver would just tap the profile and it would configure the iPhone.

  • Ipad and exchange 2003 downloads all email every time and is very slow.  We get "no sender" dated 1/1/70 during process.

    Ipad has become very slow to sync with exchange 2003.  suspect IOS releases have IPad beyond older exchange software but need to understand why sync email is so slow and seems to re-download entire mailbox every time sync runs.  Android phones do not have the issue, only ipad.  ipad are up do date, mix of 1,2 and new

    i have two iPads running different mail, one is my work gmail, one my personal mail. Upgraded my personal mini iPad to iOS 7.1.2 and started getting emails dated 1/1/1970, no sender no content coming I daily, the disappear after a few seconds.
    on my other work iPad I haven't upgraded yet am still on iOS 7 but it stopped syncing my email on Friday. I generated a new google password and entered it and when my mail came in there were many emails dated 1/1/1970 with no sender or content, again they disappeared a few seconds later.
    What's going on with the mail?

  • Outlook sync issues - downloads entire mailbox each time outlook

    We have a user who's having a roaming profile on the Terminal Server environment.
    Every time this user opens Outlook 2010, Outlook attempts to re-download his entire mailbox.
    Troubleshooting steps:
    We have tried completely removing and re-adding the Outlook profile to the machine (including removing the OST)
    We have tried setting the account up on another machine, and have experienced the same issue.
    We have tried setting this user up with a new mailbox in 365, and importing his mail into that.
    But the issue is same, can you please help me on this issue.

    Hi,
    By "re-download his entire mailbox", do the emails get duplicated, or Outlook creates a new .ost file and sync?
    “Move to folder” rules in Outlook may get emails duplicated sometimes, please try to disable all the rules in Outlook temporarily then restart Outlook,
    check if it will download the entire mailbox again. If the issue doesn't exist with all the rules disabled, try to find the conflicting rules and add “stop
    processing more rules” as you need.
    The issue may also caused by some security softwares with a virus scanner which integrates itself with Outlook or a too strictly configured
    firewall, please disable firewall and the Anti-virus program/Security program to start Outlook again, test if issue persists.

  • Exchange 2003 to 2007 mailbox move - Multi-threading

    Hi all,
         i was moving mailboxes from 2003 to 2007sp3, i was trying to move 10 mailboxes at a time using max thread command line, but it seems to working only two at a time, can you please advise?
    tnx
    lrok
    Lrok

    Are you using the EMS to initiate the moves? If so, use the -MaxThreads parameter to increase the number of concurrent moves.
    However, the default is "4". If only two are moving at a time there's probably some throttling going on because of poor performance. Increasing the concurrency probably would result in worse performance.
    I forget if the restriction on the 2003 side is "2". If it is, you can run multiple sessions and increase the concurrency in that way. It's not the same as increasing the number of threads, but multiple processes may get you the increase you need. Just
    don't overdo it. :-)

  • Exchange 2003 to 2010 mailbox migration fails

    I'm trying to move users from my single 2003 server to my 2010 3-node DAG.
    I get this error for several of the mailboxes I'm moving:
    Error: Mailbox changes failed to replicate. Database 33da328a-9b34-43ba-8914-1be08f143e17 doesn't satisfy the constraint SecondCopy because the commit time 2/14/2014 9:01:30 AM isn't guaranteed by replication time 2/14/2014 8:55:22 AM.
    When I manually kick off a move I notice the CQL and the RQL will sometimes get in the hundreds on my third server.
    I queued up about 40 users totaling about 45 GB to be moved last night and 11 of them failed with the above error.
    I have a very simple setup.
    3 servers
    1 DAG
    1 active DB and 2 passive copies
    All servers are virtualized with each running on a separate host
    Each VM is connected to a NetApp SAN via iSCSI
    All 3 VMs have 2 redundant connections per vNIC and are connected to 2 different switches
    All 3 VMs are local, none are remote
    The MSExchangeMailboxReplication.exe.config looks like this:
        MaxMoveHistoryLength = "2"
        MaxActiveMovesPerSourceMDB = "5"
        MaxActiveMovesPerTargetMDB = "5"
        MaxActiveMovesPerSourceServer = "50"
        MaxActiveMovesPerTargetServer = "5"
        MaxTotalMovesPerMRS = "100"
    I know about setting the DataMoveReplicationConstraint to None trick but I don't think I need to do that since none of my databases are on a WAN.  Shouldn't my local moves be able to keep up?  That sounds like a band-aid and not a true fix
    to the underlying problem.
    Could this be an issue with the source server's disk speed?
    I've turned the firewalls off on all the servers but still encountered the errors.
    My content indexes are healthy.
    I've checked the switches and the VMware servers for misconfigurations and errors.
    I'm researching the various PerfMon counters to watch now to see if it could be disk-related.

    I've been watching this server over the past couple of days and researching the performance output.
    ==========
    Good Server:
    Physical Disk: Avg. Disk sec/Read (DB): Usually between 10 and 50
    Physical Disk: Avg. Disk sec/Write (LOGS): Less than 10
    Bad Server:
    Physical Disk: Avg. Disk sec/Read (DB): Constant spikes to 100 (1-2 times every 10 seconds)
    Physical Disk: Avg. Disk sec/Write (LOGS): Spikes to 30-40 2-3 times per 10 second interval
    The % Processor Time rarely hits 10
    The Avg. Disk sec/Transfer for C: is mostly 0
    Bytes Received/sec MAPI is less than 10 with spikes to 45.  This is a Passive node so that's to be expected.
    Bytes Received/sec iSCSI is 100 steady with no drops
    Bytes Receied/sec REPL is less than 10
    Bytes Sent/sec MAPI spikes from 10-20
    Bytes Sent/sec iSCSI usually stays at 100 with the occasional drop to 10
    Bytes Send/sec REPL is less than 10
    Output Queue Length for all three NICs is 0
    No Received or Outbound Packet Errors
    ==========
    The vSphere versions of both physical servers are identical as is all of the firmware.
    Regarding the guest OS on each, the good server has an older NIC (vmxnet3) driver, whereas the bad server has a newer driver.
    The iSCSI Initiator on each guest OS is the same version.
    The switch configs are identical for every iSCSI port and there are no errors on either.

  • Exchange 2003 /2010 Co-existence plus 2010 migration to new hardware

    Hi,
    Here is our current scenario;
    Exchange 2003/2010 co-existence. This has been running perfectly for a couple of months now.
    Exchange 2003 - exch1.domain.lan
    Exchange 2010 (SP3) - exch2.domain.lan (local domain name)  /  mail.domain.com.au (external domain name)
    ActiveSync, autodiscover, legacy etc are all working. Our UAC certificate from GoDaddy has all the required names for exch2 - except it doesn't have the local domain name as they don't allow certificates with that anymore. I've configured all the required
    services to be the external domain name and am running split DNS.
    The first Exchange 2010 server I installed was lower spec'd and only has about 25 users on it. I now need to install a second Exchange 2010 server (exch3.domain.local), which is properly spec'd and will host the entire company. I won't be running DAG as
    I need to repurpose the first Exchange 2010 server once it's removed.
    My high level questions are;
    1) Should I migrate everyone off Exchange 2003 onto Exchange 2010, decommission the 2003 server, and then install the second 2010 server? OR
    2) Should I install the second Exchange 2010 server, migrate everyone from the first Exchange 2010 server, decommission that one, then do the migration from 2003 to 2010?
    OR does it matter which way I do it?
    I've read what I can find about installing the second Exchange 2010 server into the organisation. It seems to be pretty simple at first. Just install Exchange 2010 with HT, mailbox and CAS roles which will automatically configure it into the same Exchange
    organisation.
    1) Do I configure CAS to be externally facing right from the get go or do I do that later?
    2) As soon as I install the second Exchange 2010 server, will I encounter any mail flow problems? Will mail be trying to flow out of the second Exchange 2010 server as well as the first?
    In regards to SSL, so obviously the second Exchange 2010 server will have a different local domain name than the first, but ultimately, I want it to have the same external domain name, eg mail.domain.com.au. As my certificate doesn't contain any local domain
    names, can I export the certificate from exch1 and import it into exch2, or should I just generate a new CSR from exch2 and get GoDaddy to reissue it?
    OR should I look at creating a CAS Array from exch1 and adding exch2 to it. (I don't fully understand the workings of this at the moment).
    Any guidance on the above is helpful.
    Thanks.
    Steve

    Hi Steve I will try my best to answer each of these
    My high level questions are;
    1) Should I migrate everyone off Exchange 2003 onto Exchange 2010, decommission the 2003 server, and then install the second 2010 server? OR
    2) Should I install the second Exchange 2010 server, migrate everyone from the first Exchange 2010 server, decommission that one, then do the migration from 2003 to 2010?
    OR does it matter which way I do it?
    doesn't matter at all. Since you want to move to a new hardware you can setup a new Server CASH/HUB/Mailbox. Once installed start migrating the mailboxes from Exchange 2003 to this mailbox server. This way you will not have to redo the migration from 2010
    to new 2010 sever -- like you mentioned in 1) it will save you a lot of time and repeating procedure.
    I've read what I can find about installing the second Exchange 2010 server into the organisation. It seems to be pretty simple at first. Just install Exchange 2010 with HT, mailbox and CAS roles which will automatically configure it into the same Exchange organisation.
    1) Do I configure CAS to be externally facing right from the get go or do I do that later?
    Keep your existing 2010 internet facing for now. Once you finished migrating the mailboxes then you will need to do it.
    2) As soon as I install the second Exchange 2010 server, will I encounter any mail flow problems? Will mail be trying to flow out of the second Exchange 2010 server as well as the first?
    Mail will not flow to 2ndry server unless you add that server as a source serve in the transport.
    You  can always export the certificate and then import it to the newly installed Exchange 2010.
    OR should I look at creating a CAS Array from exch1 and adding exch2 to it. (I don't fully understand the workings of this at the moment).
    You will only need to setup the CAS array if you are going to use both the server which can be done later.
    Hope that help

  • SPAM rules on Inbox after migration from Exchange 2003 - GFI Mail Essentials

    Hello,
    Few times ago, we had an Exchange 2003 server with mailboxes which were configured with "rulemgmt.exe" tool (from Microsoft ?) to manage users mailboxes and SPAM redirection in these mailboxes.
    GFI MailEssentials (antispam) was installed on a mail relay and once a SPAM was detected, it was redirected in Inbox/SPAM folder on user mailbox thanks to the rule defined by "rulemgmt.exe".
    Recently, we did a migration from Exchange 2003 to 2010. Unfortunately, "rulemgmt.exe" doesn't work anymore on Exchange 2010 and it's replaced by a "Transport Rule" which works fine but only to redirect SPAMs in Junk e-mail folder. However,
    if I don't set up this transport rule, SPAM redirection still works from mailboxes which were created on Exchange 2003 and e-mails go to Inbox/SPAM as before... For new mailboxes on Exchange 2010, it doesn't work which is normal.
    My question is: for old mailboxes from Exchange 2003, where are the SPAM redirection (Inbox/SPAM) information stored? I don't understand how SPAM can be redirected if the information is not stored in Exchange...
    The aim is to use Junk E-mail folder with the Transport Rule at the end everywhere and to clean old rules used for Inbox/SPAM.
    I contact GFI support but they couldn't help me.
    Any idea?
    Regards,
    DeltaSM

    Those old mailboxes probably have old rules still set.  You can use the Outlook.exe /cleanrules switch to purge those old rules.  This would require that you create an outlook profile for each of those impacted mailboxes.
    You can also look at using MFCMapi -
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2860406/en-us
    When that is done, you might want to perform a Clean-MailboxDatabase and then look at the mailbox rules (get-inboxrule).  If that does not work for you, could be something else within the mailbox and as such, I would recommend working with MS to get
    more info.

  • Iphone 4's battery runs out in 2 hours after connecting to Exchange 2003

    Hi,
    Ever since I connected my iphone to Exchange 2003, the battery runs out 3-4 times as fast. It looks like it's constantly polling the server for new mai and also the phones appears to run hotter than before. Is there any parameter I can tweak to fix this?
    I'm running IOS 5 on iPhone 4.
    Thanks,
    Guy

    My battery on my iphone 4 was draining in a few hours and turning hot while not doing anything (idling).
    I downloaded lAssistant (with an L not an i) and noticed that before i deleted my hotmail account, the activity of the CPU while my iphone 4 was not doing anything, was 35-40% while AFTER i deleted my hotmail account the activity dropped to 4% and the battery returned tom normal drain.
    My Iphone 4 returned to normal operation after
    1. removing my Hotmail account from settings->mail,contacts->accounts->(choose hotmail account) Delete Account,
    2. turning off my  iphone 4
    3. turning on my iphone 4
    4. Re-adding my Hotmail account
    The battery has STOPPED draining and getting hot.

  • Exchange 2003 ActiveSync issue with iPhones

    Hello,
        I am having an issue with an Exchange 2003 server, where a couple of iPhones can suddenly no longer Activesync with it.  It seems to be an issue with their specific accounts.  I set up an account for myself and was able to connect
    and sync with no issue from my Windows 8 phone and also the Remote Connectivity Analyzer.
       However, with the iPhone user I tried to run his account through the Analyzer and got a timeout error when it was testing to sync the inbox.  I also tried setting up the user's account on my Windows phone and the inbox just showed "syncing,
    this could take a while" and just kept doing that.
       The mailbox in question is pretty large, the System Manager shows it at 41GB and I think that may be the issue.  However, initally the user told me that the phone worked fine until about a month ago.  When I first started troubleshooting
    the issue, I found that the self signed certificate had expired around the time the phone stopped syncing and generated a new one.  But I think the user had tried to wipe the account and re-set it up normally but that wiped any mail that was on the phone
    and now it is trying to resync a large amount of data and that is causing the timeouts.
       I have also been reading that Microsoft Security Essentials can cause these types of issues and it is installed on the server, but would it cause these issues with only certain accounts or with iPhones but not Windows phones?
       Am I on the right track with this?  Thanks.

    The event viewer shows no ActiveSync errors for the user.  I tried to connect to the account from my Windows phone and it set up ok with no errors (the user tells me that the account setup on the phone went ok too, all green checks) but when it was
    doing the initial sync, it just seemed to hang with a message saying something like "syncing, this could take a while" or something to that effect.
    The Remote Connectivity analyzer came back with a timeout error for the Inbox sync step as well.

  • IPhone 4 OS 4.3.3 Exchange 2003 Calendar issue

    I have a user that is reporting the calendar entries on her iPhone (iPhone 4 - iOS 4.3.3) randomly disappears and reappears without any changes being made to the device. The email and contact portion of the device seems to be working fine. User took the iPhone to an Apple store and after some troubleshooting, they replaced the phone. This did not resolve the issue. The Apple tech said it was an issue with the Exchange Server. The user’s account was working fine for months. I disabled and re-enabled the user’s Web Services in Active Directory, no luck.
    Why would the calendar be the only service being affected and how do I fix this?

    No solution but just want to  chime in that I'm encountering similar issues. Updated to 4.3.3 and I can no longer sync my work calendar, Exchange 2003. Connecting to the calendar works but only my sub calendars are recognized. My main work calendar isn't displayed. Various attempts to fix this have triggered a message that server identity cannot be verified. MuSt HaVe ExChAnGe SyNc... Please help.
    restored, deleted account and reconnected. Apple says it's an Exchange issue. But I seem to be one of the few that are encountering the issue. Co-workers with lower versions do not have a problem syncing with exchange. Awh...progress

  • Exchange 2003 Stand Alone Server No Connection from Iphone and ActiveSync

    We have a single Exchange 2003 Server SP2. We have a test user that has an iPhone and I have been trying to get it connected. Have tried everything I can think of, it always fails on creating the account with "Account Verification Failed" Please let me know what I can do to get this working. I have a BES and about 28 other users with Blackberry's all working.
    SC

    Hi SC,
    Make sure the iPhone is updated. http://www.apple.com/iphone/softwareupdate/
    How is the iPhone connecting to the Internet? Try testing over a local Wi-Fi network that the Exchange server is running on.
    Also, you can try emailing the iPhone a configuration profile with security certificates. The iPhone Enterprise support has a configuration utility and a Deployment Guide which will help you verify configuration settings.

  • IPhone 3G OS 3.1.2 not connecting to Exchange 2003 consistently

    I have...
    iPhone 3G OS 3.1.2
    Outlook 2007
    Microsoft Exchange 2003
    My problem is that I have successfully set up my exchange account on my phone and all of my folders show up, however 9 times out of 10 when I go into my inbox it will sit and think and then tell me...
    "Cannot Get Mail Server error. Contact your server administrator."
    My IT guy had me convinced it was my phone that was the problem but I have 2 other Gmail accounts on the phone that work flawlessly and have taken it to apple store many a time to no avail.
    My problem is not setting up the exchange account because it does work (very rarely) and my folders are always visable. I think my problem is a time out issue but that's just me guessing because it thinks and then fails (which wastes an enormous amount of battery). Has anyone encountered this problem? I am not an exchange expert but aparently neither is my IT guy... so if anyone has a solution that I could communicate to IT then my daily life would improve tenfold. Thank you in advance for helping!

  • IPhone 3G won't sync calendar with Exchange 2003

    Hi - can't see this exact problem elsewhere hence the post...
    I have iPhone 3G syncing with OWA from Exchange 2003 just fine with mail and contacts. Calendar is totally blank though. If I create a new appointment on iPhone then it shows up in Exchange - great! If I do it the other way round then I get nothing on iPhone - unless I invite myself in which case it does! But then if I delete the email invitation then the entry disappears. I could live with that (just about) but not but being able to sync my calendar history is a big problem for me.
    By the way I can't sync my calendar history via iTunes to Outlook because the sync component crashes!
    Can anyone shed any light?

    Hi man, I got the same problem with my iPhone, but it has been solved..
    First, You need the Outlook 2003 or 2007 only, if you have a earlier version of this it isn't work.
    Second, You sould need to create a new PST file whit the Outlook Version 2003 or 2007, the file format must be on Unicode Format, no Outlook (97-2000) format, with this file format the import of calendar doesn't gonna be work.
    Third, You now have a PST whit Outlook 2003 or 2007 Version, you need to manually put your events on the calendar, Why? Cause if you just move it on the new calendar it gonna create and old instance of the event not a new instance, That's why iTunes doesn´t sync the calendar.
    I done all these and actually I can sync the calendar with my iphone.

  • Having problems connecting iPhone 5 with our company's Exchange 2003. Is this a known issue and is there a fix?

    I'm not the only one in our company experiencing this, so far i haven't heard of anyone with an iPhone 5 who is able to connect. I'm wondering if people in other companies that have Exchange 2003 also have the same issue or is this isolated to ours.
    The errors i get are not being able to verify: "Unable to verify account information." This used to happen before but when i chose to save settings, it would usually work after a while. But this time, with the iPhone 5, i kept getting "Cannot Get Mail" "The connection to the server failed".
    I did this with a restore from back up, and a wiped phone, same results. My colleague with a fresh out of the box phone with no previous IOS backups, also has the same errors.
    So, anyone else still using Exchange 2003 and experiencing the issues?

    Hi Guys,
    I got exchange mail working. It seems issue is around "Push". I enabled "push", account verified & all worked well. After that I disabled push (I do not want it & to save mobile data use).
    By googling, I found many have got it up & apple may fix it in it next iOS udpate.
