Iphone exchange mail - Help!

To the students out here. Anyone have any tips to get the exchange mail to work with my student email. I have had it working in the past, but now it will not verify it. I am using mail.university.edu as the exchange server.

You should configure your account just like it is on the Treo. You don't need to add the subdirectory onto the hostname and you don't need the http or https. SSL is generally ON for default ActiveSync installs.
If your setup isn't working, then my first guess is that your company is using self-signed certificates (or something) that is already provisioned on the Treo and/or in Internet Explorer and you don't have it on the iPhone.
The second guess is that your network administrators require the Treo to be a registered device with ActiveSync and the iPhone isn't.
My third guess is that they are not allowing devices to connect if they appear to the server to be iPhones.
Of course, these are all guesses based on limited knowledge of your infrastructure.
I hope there are some tips in here that might help.

  • Exchange Mail Help

We have an exchange server here, and the admin is gone for the weekend.
I have the username right (my name) and the server is correct, but it cannot verify the account.
The problem is that in Outlook, I don't need a password to get onto the exchange server, but on the iPod, it requires a password. O.o
I also tried syncing from Outlook, but it won't sync exchange accounts.
    Can anyone suggest something?
    Thanks,
    Ian

I too have had this problem with battery depletion. Phone is N9 64gb black, previously running Starhub version of firmware and updated to Central Europe OEM version, "DFL61_HARMATTAN_20.2011.40-4_PR_LEGACY_001-OEM1-958_ARM.bin". Firmware updated with no issues and phone works great except for email. If I add an email account, "other" or "exchange", then phone gets mail and calendar on first sync but then hangs on subsequent syncs. Then the phone will not get mail or any other info from mail server and constantly checks or tries to sync. Eventually the battery is depleted by the middle of the day after beginning the day fully charged. The only way I could stop the active sync process is to delete the account or turn the phone off and back on again.

  • Iphone displaying Exchange mail when Entourage doesn't display same messages (sync issue)

For the past few days, I've noticed email showing up in my Exchange mail on my iPhone 4, but the same messages aren't displaying in Entourage.
There are a just a few messages that display on my iPhone but not in Entourage.
    I'm on a MacBook, v. 10.5.8 using Entourage 2008.
I already emptied the Inbox cache in Entourage which ddidn't resolve the issue.
Thanks so much for any help!

Have you tried deleting and then recreating the Exchange account on your iPhone? Do these messages appear through OWA? What you see on your iPhone and what you see through OWA should be the same. If Entourage is the only place these messages appear then the issue is likely with the application and not the iPhone.

  • Exchange mail account not getting deleted - Iphone froze

Exchange mail account is not getting deleted if i try it and
    it frozes the iphone.
Switch off the phone and restarting doesn't help
Same thing happens when you try to change contact off in exchange mail properties.
    I have 3G iphone with firmware 2.1

I have the same or a similar problem - after my update to the firmware on friday, i have intermittent ability to download email.
i have 4 accounts on my phone - a mobile me account, 2 accounts through Cox servers, and my exchange account. I was able to download from all accounts just once after updating the firmware 3 days ago.
The Cox accounts are the only ones that work - and only sometimes. outbound emails become phantom emails and go nowhere.
I lost the domain information in my exchange account. when i go in to update it, it freezes and won't save the new domain or let me leave the settings screen unless I hit the home or sleep/wake buttons.
i tried deleting the exchange account to recreate it, but it freezes on that.
    I lost my calendar entirely.
i had to resync my contacts.
this is worse (much worse) than before the firmware fixes.

  • IPhone deletes mail on Exchange server - how to uncouple?

Whenever I delete company mail on my iPhone the mail is deleted from the Exchange server.
Where can I toggle this? I want the mail to stay visible from my Mac but be cleared off my iPhone.
    Many thanks.
Edited to reflect it's an Exchange server, not IMAP.

You cannot. Exchange servers operate just like IMAP - the mail lives on the server, and a local copy is synced/cached. If you make a change (like deleting a message) on one device, that change is reflected on the server (assuming you're connected to the internet), and thus on all devices.
One option might be to create a different folder (in Mail on the Mac, for example, but on the Exchange account not local so the phone can access it) - call it Read Mail or something like that. Then, on the iPhone move emails from your Inbox to that folder instead of deleting them.

    Hi Eslam El-Gammal,
Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!
I understand that after resetting your iPhone, you are being prompted for Apple ID information that is not yours. This can happen if an iPhone is restored without turning off the Find My Phone feature. For more information on this, please refer to the attached article.

  • Is it possible to access the data on iphone through exchange mail server?

    Hi all,
By accident I ve pressed 'wipe this device" on my company email that my iphone was connected to. So they deleted all data on my iphone and I had to restore through itunes. My question is this?
    1. Is it possible to restore my iphone prior to "wiping out"?
    2. Is it possible that microsoft's exhange mail cannot only delete all data from my iphone but also copy them?
    Thanks
    ieroklis

    Thanks for your answer,
It appears I ve lost 1 month of data as the last backup was 1 month ago.
Do you know if the company through the exchange mail server can also copy all my data (personal emails, photos, videos etc) that I had on my iphone? or they can just delete them remotely? Is apple protecting all iphone users from this sort of invasions?
    Thanks

  • How to include the exchange sub folder's unread mail into the "UNREAD" group in default exchange mail app in iPhone ?

I am using ios 7.0.2. I have many sub folders in my exchange mail box. Problem is when any mail comes to the sub folder, it is not counted as unread mail and it also does not be visible under the unread mail group. The unread mail group only shows the unread mails which have come directly to inbox but not the mails which comes to the sub folder according to the set rule. Have any one noticed this ridiculous thing? Is there any solution or it's a bug??

I have the same problem. On the IPad and IPhone I can easilly connect to our Exchange server. When setting up a MacBook Air, using the same settings (account/server address etc) it doesn't work...
Does anyone have a solution for this?
    Thanks!
    Sander

  • I have just setup an exchange mail account on my iphone and many of my settings have defaulted. Was this set by my business or by exchange?

I have just setup an exchange mail account on my iphone to acces smy business emails and many of my settings have defaulted. As an example, my passcode has defaulted to a minimum of 6 digits and my phone will erase all data after 10 failed attempts.  These are now greyed out and I cannot change them.
Is this a default set by Apple/Microsoft?
Or was this a setting enforced by my company, whose mail exchange I am accessing?

ditto what KT said...the passcode requirement enables the encryption of the local storage of your device and auditing of that policy ..it protects your organization AND you from potential data loss and a  mandatory reporting obligation..imagine how miserable it would be to see the name of your organization on the front page of your local newspaper with a story about data loss....every IT and risk management department's worst nightmare

  • Iphone 6 exchange mail error via wifi

    Device: iPhone 6
Issue with exchange mail via Wifi
Sending and receiving exchange mail via mobile network (3G/4G) works perfectly.
Once I arrive at home and my device switches to our wifi network issues start.
Sending a mail results in an error message: "sending e-mail not successful.  Error at delivery of this message."
Mail can be found in the outbox of the exchange account.
However...afterwards it seems the mail has been sent anyway.  Although he's removed from the outbox, not in the sent box and arriving in the recipients mailbox anyway.
Mails do not come in as long as connected to Wifi.
Once Wifi is deactivated and device switches to mobile network, mails enter.
What can be the issue and how can I solve this? I don't want to switch off/on the wifi each time to check/send mails from my office/exchange account.
    Thank you.

  • Iphone 3G, Exchange mail - can't send new mail only works by reply

Before upgrading from 2.0 to 2.0.2 all worked like a charm with Exchange mail. Now I am not able to send new mail from iphone using Exchange account. When I try to do so, a send bar appears shortly, but no message is sent. When trying to forward a note from Notes application using exchange account, also applications closes down automatically.
The only viable option to send mail via Exchange is by replying to someone's message.
    How to deal with this?
I have tried to delete all accounts on iphone and re-establishe them. Doesn't work.

Discovered, that it is a problem connected to Contacts. If you are using Contacts or typing a new email address, New mail won't go.
If you however browse Exchange address book and select a person to send email to, that will work.
    Apple what happenedin 2.0.2?
