IPhone firmware  update 3.1.3

+"Apple today released iPhone OS 3.1.3 for all iPhone and iPod touch models, addressing several specific bugs as well as offering fixes for a handful of security issues.+
+This update for the iPhone and iPod touch contains bug fixes and improvements, including the following:+
+- Improves accuracy of reported battery level on iPhone 3GS+
+- Resolves issue where third-party apps would not launch in some instances+
+- Fixes bug that may cause an app to crash when using the Japanese Kana keyboard+
+Full details on the security updates included in iPhone OS 3.1.3 are available in the associated support document."+

Today I upgrated to iTune 9, and then it wanted to update firmware in my iPhone 3GS. It is ver 3.1.3.
No succes. After about ½ hour it is finish, and the iPhone try to reboot. iTunes then gives an error 1002, and write that the upgrade was unsuccesfull. The "read more" link given in the errorwindow just shows an "unknown web-adress" at www.apple.com/support.
iTunes then sees the iPhone as a new empty iPhone and it wants to put in the firmware again. I have now tried 4 times in my Windows 7 x64, and 2 times on another computer using windows XP.
The iPhone can now only show the picture with the white USBcable and the text iTunes. All other things don't work. It can't be turned on normally, so no use at all.
What is "error 1002"?
How do I get the iPhone working again?
I'm sorry for my poor English, but English is not my first language. I hope you can get some sence out of this post anyway.

  • Error while downloading iphone firmware update (error code -3254)

    Hey guys,
I am using the German versions of iTunes and the iPhone. When I connect the iPhone to my machine, iTunes starts up and proceeds to inform me that a new firmware update is available. After the license agreement is confirmed, nothing seems to happen for a few sceonds. Then, an error message pops up which tells me that "an unknown error has occured". The error code is -3254.
I searched Google and these forums for variations of this problem, but couldn't find anything suitable. The error code is not mentioned anywhere.
My iTunes version is 7.6.1.9 (running on Windows XP)
My iPhone has firmware version 1.1.3 (failed while upgrading to version 1.1.4)
I found out that similar errors can be caused by firewall misconfigurations, but the built-in iTunes diagnosis tool didn't report any connection problems (I also temporarily opened all of my router UDP ports, didn't help at all).
    Any help would be appreciated.

I'm having the same problem. The download finishes and then it says an unknown error occurred. It says it has something to do with my network connection, but I don't think that's the problem.
Did you find a solution yet?
I tried to reinstall iTunes but it didn't work.

  • Knocked off network by iPhone firmware updates and syncs

Every time I either sync the iphone or update iPhone firmware, I get knocked off my internal web network and must reboot my computer to once again have web and email access. It always occurs <during> firmware downloads, so I have to reboot my computer mid-download for the download to continue, and sometimes several times to achieve the full download. The (Airport Xtreme)router does not need to be rebooted. Nothing else I do has this effect (knocking me off the network). Very frustrating and time-consuming -- any clues?
    Thx!,

  • Faults in your latest Iphone firmware update

The latest Iphone 4 update via itunes has trashed my Iphone, requiring the factory restore. it was working perfectly beforehand. it restored ok but this is just a warning there is something faulty with that latest update

This is a user to user help forum ONLY, and no there isn't something faulty with the latest update or the very same would happen to everyone that installed the update, which is not the case.
As with a major computer OS update when there is a major problem after installing the update, the update brings an underlying/unknown problem to the surface which is not caused directly by the update.
As an example, this is done with the iPhone via a USB connection. A problem can occur with the data transfer via USB for the update from your computer to the iPhone which has nothing to do with the update.

  • 7.7 - Install error? Can't download iPhone firmware update

I downloaded 7.7 yesterday and got an install error, but when I opened it up, it said it was version 7.7 and had the Application menu item. So I thought all was dandy!
But when I tried to update my iPhone to 2.0, a message popped up that said I need 7.7 installed. I clicked "Update," was taken to Software Update, but of course nothing was found.
Then I thought I'd try to download it manually, but the download links are nowhere to be found on apple's site: http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
Any ideas? Please help! I want to get 2.0 installed before I leave for work.

You have to wait several minutes for iTunes to recognize any new iPod or iPhone after the 7.7 update. There is a major bug with the program. Apple has removed the download from their servers, which I don't think they have ever done, even with minor issues of previous iTunes releases in the past... I'm sure they are working on it and I hope to see iTunes 7.7.1 ready to download soon. You probably can't update any firmware/software until Apple fixes things...

  • My iPhone is not starting up after it was stock on iPhone firmware update. i received error message that there was an internal error. how can i reboot my iPhone?

Now the apple apears on the screen and after 1 minute i'ts gone and the wait or reboot circle appears and this in a loop.

You might have to reload the update, in which you can hold down the lock button and home button for 10 secs, then let the lock button go, while still holding the home button and it will say it is in restore mode in itunes.  just make sure the phone is plugged into your computer while doing the process.

  • Attempted Iphone 4 update to latest firmware update "failed"

Ive attempted to update the Iphone to the latest firmware update  and it has failed 3 times, the final time it looked as though
it worked but stopped and went into new mode to go-back to Restore to old  setting. Now it is locked up and asking me for the  admin backup password
and everything I've tried is not working..  Not sure what to do at this point.
The laptop I'm using is a Panasonic CF29 and running Windows XP with SP3 installed.
I'm  open to any ideas at this point.

Then it's pretty hopeless. Normally the error message remains displayed until you click "OK", so it's surprising that you didn't see it. You can try the shotgun approach; just try a bunch of stuff in the hopes that it will work. But first I suggest trying to update it again, and this time watch it. The following list covers the most common causes of update failures:
Open a Command window and type the command "netsh   winsock   reset"
    Reboot your computer
    Disable your antivirus and firewall
    Launch iTunes
Connect the phone using a USB port directly on the computer, not a hub
When the phone is recognized in iTunes click on it, then click Restore
If the phone is NOT recognized in iTunes, disconnect it, the hold the HOME and SLEEP buttons for exactly 10 seconds until the screen goes black, then release SLEEP but continue holding HOME while you connect the cable and continue holding HOME until iTunes recognizes a phone in recovery mode
If the update completes you are in business
You mentioned being prompted for a backup password. If your backup is encrypted you will need to know the password to complete the restore; if you don't know it you will have to restore as New and manually add your content back. If it is encrypted you really did enter a password for it once, whether you remember doing so or not.

  • Update to iOS 5.1 causes iPhone to crash on "Restoring iPhone Firmware"

    Hello everyone.
I have been vry please with my iPhone 4 on Verizon for the last 6 months.  I was on iOS 5 which worked great.  Then this morning the AppStore icon had the familiar red circle indicating some apps had updates available.  I clicked Update All.  In there was an update for iOS5.1.  I clicked OK.
I gave me the usual License agreement etc… I clicked OK.
A few minutes later I looked at it and it showed a picture of a cable with an arrow towards an iTunes icon.  SO I plugged it to my computer and it launched iTunes.
iTunes tells me that my iPhone is in Recovery mode and I need to Restore.  Why is it in Recovery mode???  All I did was I clicked OK for software update!
I have no other choice but to click Restore.  It asks if I want to Restore and Update.  I click OK.
I downloads the software (25 minutes worth!!!) then goes through the motions.
    - Restoring iPhone software
    - Verify iPhone software
    - Verify iPhone Restore
    - Restoring iPhone firmware.
After it sits on that Restoring firmware with a striped bar for about 30 seconds, all of a sudden, a new window pops up and says "The iPhone "iPhone" could not be restored.  An unknown error occurred (1)."
iMac 2.4G 24inch .  OS 10.6.8  All my software is up to date as of this morning.  That includes the most recent iTunes.
Nothing else is plugged in the USB ports.
    I have restarted the computer.
No third party firmware.  No illegal mods.  No jailbreaking or anything, all on the up and up.
I have called Apple tech support but was put on hold for 30 minutes and finally had to go to work.
I have done a search on this and other boards but could not find a solution.  Would anyone have any suggestion?
    Thanks for any help.
    Bo

    UPDATE:
I tried about 6 or 7 times with no luck.  Maybe trying even more would have worked as Milis and some others have said.  But I ran out of patience.
So I called Apple tech support.  After a few minutes a woman answered, I explained the problem, she said that since it was out of warranty, it would cost $29 for a one time incident.  I said that since I did not initiate this problem I did not think I should have to pay for anything.  Then she put me on hold, and evidently sent me to the slow cue.  I waited for about 20 or so minutes and another woman answered.  She was very friendly and tried to be helpful but this was clearly out of her league so she transferred me to a specialist.  A very friendly british sounding woman came on and really wanted to get to the bottom of this.  She did a remote access to my computer so she could see the contents of the log files.  After a while, she determined that it could not be repaired.  She told me the phone had to be replaced.
So she filled out a request to that effect, gave me the location of the nearest Apple store and made an appointment for me.  I went there during lunch and they replaced my phone with a new (or new looking at least) unit.  They set it up and now everything is fine.  It is still on iOS5 but I really don't have any pressing need for iOS5.1 so, given this previous experience, I'm going to stay with 5 for a while.
Bottom line is that this was a real pain and huge waste of time.  But Apple support did come through without any trouble (apart from the waiting on hold) and got things fixed and working again.  The people I talked to did not have any idea of what might have caused this.  But one thing I was remember is this:  Usually I always do iOS updates through iTunes with the iPhone connected to the computer.  This was the first time that the update was started with the phone unconnected because it came about through the "Updates" panel of the phone's AppStore icon.  I'm not sure why this would cause the firmware update to go south but that is the only thing I can think of.
At the end of the day, I think I have to put that in the "You want cutting edge technology? well it's going to work most of the time but every now and then there will be the inevitable pothole" column.

Did you make sure it was the exact file for your device and the latest version? I just downloaded the latest file for my iPhone4, put it in the folder I mentioned above and it ran the install versus downloading the file. This problem where it times out after downloading is a big Bug within iTunes that has been there ever since IOS 7.0 was released. I wished these apple developers would just fix iTunes. There are a ton of complaints about this issue. I sure miss Steve Jobs running this business, I really feel like it's gone down hill after he left.
    I hope this helps!

  • Trying to update iPhone firmware and it's making me download update all over again!

    Hi all,
Alright so I am trying to update the firmware on my iPhone 4 which currently has iOS 5.0.1. I plugged it in, opened iTunes, and clicked update. I went through the agree/disagree  and the "backup/don't backup" popups Then, iTunes started to download the firmware update. After two hours of download time, it finally finishes. I unplugged my iPhone to make a call, then plugged it backin to go ahead and install the update. I go to my iphone on the left hand column of iTunes, click update, go through all the same popup windows and then iTunes stars to download the entire update all over again!!! I even checked the library directory where iTunes downloads the firmware/restore files (.ipsw files) to, and notice that the original update file is still there (iPhone3,1_5.1.1_9B206_Restore.ipsw), and it is downloading the exact same file all over again. Why is it doing this? I don't want to have to wait another two hours!
    Thanks for any help,
    James

Try shift-clicking (windows) or option-clicking (mac) on the Check for Update button in iTunes and when prompted navigate to the .ipsw file.
