Iphone flickering?

Okay, so this may be the SECOND Iphone I go through in 2 weeks
Last week, Apple had to replace my Iphone as the screen was full on shaking when it would warm up a bit... it did my head in..as you can imagine..
NOW - new phone, similiar problem..
The phone screen is flickering...I noticed it when I went to the weather application..the brightness is flickering...then I go to Facebook..still flickering, you can see it on the blue labels
What on EARTH is going on... 2 Iphones.. 2 weeks its seems!!

I had a similar issue over the past week, reset/restart would take care of it. if it did not clear itself.
I was at the apple store checking out the Ipad2, and asked one of the genius bar guys, he took my phone, and cleared out the 42 running apps.
I thought the multitasking was just easy access, apparently those apps just keep running, and running, and running
He hit the home button, slid the slide, double tapped the home button, and the 4 apps popped up, at which time he slid them just like you do the screen normally to show all the other apps on the home screen.
He then held his finger on one of the bottom apps, just like when you delete or move an app on the regular screen. they jiggled, and a red circle with a dash appears, and he touched them each one at a time, and shut down the 42 running apps.
I have not had a flicker since. One of the open apps was Imovie, and a couple of other high energy apps.
I have not had a flicker since, maybe this will help

  • Failed iPhone software update to 2.0, failed restore with error 1604

I downloaded the latest iTunes 7.7 and upon "Check for Update", I was notified that iPhone firmware 2.0 for the 2G iPhone was out. I downloaded the firmware, synced/backed up settings, and then rebooted. Then something went wrong...
I restarted iTunes and the iPhone, per Apple support suggestion, and iTunes found the iPhone connected, but displayed "iTunes has detected an iPhone in recovery mode. You must restore this iPhone before it can be used with iTunes." I clicked OK, and then Restore. The restoration process began with an option to either cancel or "Restore and Update". Cancel is a worthless option, so I did "Restore and Update". Here it begins extracting the software and then prepares the iPhone for restore. The iPhone flickered, disconnected and reconnected to the computer, and then presumably continued the process until ending with the following error: "The iPhone "iPhone" could not be restored. An unknown error occurred (1604)." Nothing else happens.
I've tried everything, and am really at my wits end. I have installed/reinstalled iTunes several times. I have tried reinstalling drivers. I've tried rebooting the computer several times. I've tried disconnecting and reconnecting everything. I've been restoring this iPhone for a good 3 hours and nothing seems to work!
I am supposed to give this iPhone to my mother for her birthday tomorrow and now it won't even turn on. A brick makes a great birthday gift afterall...
    Any ideas?

People who have still not solved error 1604 and had a bricked iPhone no matter what they tried, might manage to revive it by following these instructions (on how to downgrade from 2.0 to 1.1.4).
    You will need the following:
    - iTunes 7.5 (NOT 7.7)
    - iPhone firmware iPhone1,11.1.4_4A102Restore.ipsw
    Step 1:
Uninstall iTunes 7.7 completely if you have it and restart your computer.
    Step 2:
    Install iTunes 7.5
    Step 3:
Your iPhone should be in 2 states, either stuck on the "Slide to make emergency calls" screen, or you tried to restore before and it's stuck on the new look "connect to iTunes" screen. Either way you're ok.
Enter the phone in DFU mode (You must have the iPhone connected to the computer and iTunes running). To do this, hold the power & the home button down for about 9 seconds.
Why 9s? Well people say 10s, but it depends how slow you are at counting. Too short and it doesn't work, too long and the apple logo appears.
When you hit about 6-7s the screen should turn off, leave it for 2 more seconds and release the power button, STILL holding the home button. If all went well, you should NOT see an apple logo, the screen should be dead.
Keep holding home until windows/Mac informs you that it's found new hardware, OR iTunes tells you that your iPhone is in recovery mode. Remember, screen should be blank.
If you see an apple logo, repeat the process for less time until you get it right. Took me a little time.
    Step 4:
Shift/Option click the restore button in iTunes and select the iPhone1,1_1.1.4 firmware you downloaded.
Fingers crossed it should restore back to 1.1.4.

  • Flickers "after" slide to unlock

My phone used to flicker a bit right "after" I slide to unlock the screen and it did not always happen, but it only happened occationally. I don't know how many of you have noticed this issue. A few days ago while reading another forum, I saw a post that someone have found that this only happens when you don't have the same picture set for your home screen and the lock screen. So I set them as the same picture immediately and haven't had a flicker since then. Anyways, just thought I would share the information here so that more people can give it a try and see if it really fix the problem.

If your iPhone "flickers" there is a problem in your phone that needs troubleshooting. See page 242 of the User Guide.

  • Screen flickers on wake

I have noticed lately (since the iOS 4 update?) that the screen of my iPhone flickers when I push the wake/sleep or home button to wake it up. It looks like the screen lights up and goes dark again, before it finally stays lit up. Sometimes it's a matter of a millisecond and sometimes of a second. Some sort of a very short flicker. Did anybody else notice that? Is it a software or hardware issue?

mine does this too sometimes. i think its a bug, i thought it was ramdom, but not so since it
doesn't do it all the time but i managed to figure it out, mine does it at the 15 second mark. If i make the phone sleep then in exacty 15 seconds if i wake it up, it flickers on and off. Will not do it otherwise, always at 15 second mark.
try it out, let me know.

    Help.

Then the next step would be to restore your phone.  My advice is that prior to restoring you import your photos and videos to your computer and back up your contacts (by syncing them with iCloud or to a supported program on your computer using iTunes) as a number of users report losing these when restoring their device.

  • How can I stop the flickering/juddering that appears on my iPhone 5's screen?

How can I stop the continuous flickering/juddering that appears, usually after I switch Wi-Fi on, on the screen of my iPhone 5? It has only started occurring since I updated to iOS 7.0.3. Thanks.

    It's happening continuously now!

  • I just got an iPhone 5 32GB and i have backed up my old 3GS 32GB via itunes (20GB of data on there) and it is taking a very long time to restore to my iPhone5. Its taken more than 20 hours and says 12 hours remaining. The text "Time remaining" flickers.

I just got an iPhone 5 32GB and i have backed up my old 3GS 32GB via itunes (20GB of data on there) and it is taking a very long time to restore to my iPhone5. Its taken more than 20 hours and didnt complete.
The text "Time remaining ... hours" flickers.
I set it to start restoring from the 3GS backup yesterday at 1pm and the time remaining kept on increasing. I left it overnight and at 9am this morning the progress bar hadnt moved and it said 12 hours remaining.
I don't know why its taking so long. I unplugged it and it just set up as new phone. So i did a factory reset and tried again at 4pm and it is now 12am and it says 4 hours remaining and my computer occasionally flickers. (Its not a bad computer, 2 months old, i7, 6GB RAM, Heaps of HDD space). It also messes with google chrome and i cannot browse the web at all while it is trying to restore my iphone.
I have tried restarting my laptop and should i reinstall itunes? I simply dont see why it should take longer than 20 hours to copy over 20GB of data!
    Can anyone help me?
    Thank you

I'm having this EXACT same problem with my iPhone 4, and I have the same computer stats (I have a Samsung Series 7)

  • How do I get my Iphone 4S screen to stop flickering and jumping?

My 15 month old Iphone 4S's screen has recently starting jumping and flickering and will not stop.
First began in my camera but would stop when I turned the camera to the front to see my face, then when switched back to the other side it would begin jumping again, (roughly a month ago). Then it started happening in any apps that involved my camera, snapchat, instagram, etc. today.
Now, my screen always flickers and jumps in all apps and when on my home and lock screen.
    IOS is up to date.
    No cracks on screen.
Continues to do so even after resetting and restoring iphone, and changing my brightness up and down.
    Background moving is turned off.
Flickering is worse at the bottom of the screen.
Screen was replaced six months ago.

Sorry I can't help but I literally just posted the exact same thing on this website my 4s screen on camera flickers and jumps and in snapchat and slo pro ( slo motion camera ) will this turn to the home screen aswell I've already had a problem with the screen once !!

  • What's wrong with my screen and how do I fix it? My iphone 4 froze so I reset it. After it turned back on I found that the screen ( the backlight, i assume) was flickering a lot at the edges.

I went to settings and turned down all the brightness and the flickering disappeared but as soon as I turned it back up it started flickering again so I decided to reset  my iphone again. After the iPhone (4) turned back on I tried pulling the brightness up again, now I can see faint vertical lines up and down the screen ( like a grid) and turning up the brightness still results in more flickering. Also, as I type this, the keyboard on my iphone is slow to recognize touch. Before it froze I had been watching a 2 hr documentary on YouTube. Did it freeze because I used the phone too much? And my iphone was on the settings app when it froze. How do I fix the flickering (and is it going to cause more damage?) and how can I make the iPhone more responsive (faster) to touch? Your help is appreciated. (Everybody hates a slow keyboard)

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iPod fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - If still not successful that indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • HT4061 I got a brand new iPhone 4S on contract last week and since I've had it it's been over heating and it's turned itself off once and every now and then the screen flickers I just wanted to know is this a common thing as I've never had an iPhone befor

My new iPhone 4S that I have had a for about a week keeps over heating a lot and its turned itself off once and I couldn't turn it on for over half an hour, also my screen flickers from time to time and I'm not sure what to do as I not had an iPhone before can anybody help me please I would be very greatful.

    No, it's not normal.
Basic troubleshooting from the User's Guide is reset, restart, restore (first from backup then as new).
Frankly though, considering it's new, take it back to Apple.

  • Screen flickering after iOS 6.1 update and some apps crashing frequently on my iPhone 4 .. I didn't have this in 6.0.1 back when people complained about it

hello, I had no keyboard flickering issues back when my iPhone 4 was on iOS 6.0.1 then I updated to 6.1 yesterday and now I have apps crashing frequently and keyboard flickering? anyone else having the same issue after the update? any known solution?

I'm having the same issue on my iPhone 4 since yesterday when I updated to iOS 6.1 from 5.1.1.
After about an hour after the upgrade, it crashed/rebooted itself and went completely white/grey screen with a brighter white line in the middle. My power/sleep button was broke already, so I couldn't do anything on it. I left it to drain the battery for about 6 hours.  During that time, the edges around the white/grey screen became darker and darker like burn-in effect. After it ran out of the battery, I connected the phone to the PC through USB and iTunes let me restore it to iOS 6.1 firmware I downloaded before.
The restore was successful, but the entire screen keeps flickering rapidly, not just a part of the screen.
Is it hardware or software related issue?? Any idea?

  • IPhone 4 Flickering Display and Unresponsive Screen

My iPhone 4's screen was not responding when I tried to swipe it or anything of that sorry - texts and notifications from internal apps kept coming in as they normally would however. After backing up the phone to my laptop, I manually shut it off using the power and home buttons, which was successful. I let it sit for a minute and then turned it back on, and upon looking at the screen noticed that the display is flickering just the tiniest bit (it's definitely enough to notice, though.) Any suggestions on how to remedy this?
Saw in previous discussions the suggestions to turn off auto-brightness and the problem would be solved, however I already had the auto-brightness turned off when the flickering occurred.

    Hello Amelia,
Thank you for providing so much detail about the issue you are experiencing with your iPhone's display. I found a couple of resources I recommend.
First, for the issue you are experiencing with the touchscreen response, I recommend following the steps in this article:

  • Request help for iphone screen flickering

I'm using iphone 4. Few days ago (before the software update 6.0.1) i noticed my iphone screen is flickering and blurred.this bug was not fixed after IOS update 6.0.1. Thus showing horizontal lines in the screen.
              please help me

I did resolve it. I did the reset while the phone was plugged into my computer at home (holding down the home button and power button at the same time, until it shuts down and reboots). It took a few tries but eventually it showed the icon of the plug going into the icon for iTunes.  From iTunes, I did a restore from an older backup, and then reinstalled the update from the computer.  Now it works just fine.  I wonder if maybe the update was just too hefty to pull down via the cellular network.
If you never did a backup of your phone to iTunes or the cloud, then you'll likely have to do a restore to factory conditions and then do the update.  Incovenient, but better than a paperweight

  • Display flickers on my 2 wk old iPhone 5. I have tried resetting the phone, but it still flickers. Very annoying. Does anyone know how to solve this?

The display is flickering on my iPhone 5. Any suggestions how to cure this by re-setting something?

Basics (straight from the manual) are restart, reset, restore from backup, restore as new.  Good through each step in succession until your problem is solved.  If not solved after all these steps, you'll need to bring your phone to Apple for evaluation.
