IPhone FM Transmitters

Hey all! Just trying to find the best fm tramsmitter/car charger. I had a Monter icarplay for my old ipod and it worked on my 2G iphone but now I have a 3G and it doesn't charge it. I've been looking at the icarplay 250 but it won't work with the switcheasy rebel case I have on my phone. I've also looked at XtremeMac InCharge FM and not sure if it works for iPhone. Does anyone know of the best one to get? Any help would be great! Thanks!

  • All of the fm transmitters doesn't work with my iphone 4

At first i had one of those griffin fm transmitters and it worked fine but after a while it stoped working and the fm transmitter dint turned on anymore i thught it was the fm transmitter was the problem but when i tried a different fm transmitter it did the same thing. help

So the FM transmitter won't turn on at all... and you think the problem is the iPhone?  Is the battery in the FM transmitter flat? If you turn on the transmitter without plugging it into anything can you tune to it on the radio?  What if you plug the FM transmitter into another device? an iPod, CD player... something...
I don't see how the problem can be related to the iPhone in any way. Do headphones work with your iPhone? If so, then the problem is definitely NOT the phone.

  • Why don't FM transmitters work with my iphone 3gs?

I have tried 3 now, which all work on my friends iphone 3GS. All work on my old ipods too... sometimes it will come up with 'this accessory won't work with this iphone' but still works on my friends identical (tho his is 32gb, mine 16gb) - anyone have any ideas as to why this is happening?
Also, restored my iphone the other day so the software etc is all up to date, but still no joy.
Any help appreciated, tearing my hair out here!!
    Thanks,
    Ian.

I have the same problem. Same with my iPad. And worst. I use my iPod touch at the gym, I used to connect the iPod on the threadmill and was able to watch videos (through the dock connector) not working any more, I only have the sound.
I tried the composite video cable at home, just like you not working!!!
    Apple do something!!!

  • FM Transmitters and iPhone 3g

    Hi Everyone,
Is anyone using a fm transmitter with the new iPhone 3g? If so which one are you using and how do you like it? Is it easy to use? How's the sound quality. I appreciate any info.
    Thanks!!

I have the same problem and looked it up on ilounge.com.
apparently the firewire charer was finally dropped and now all the older chargers/adapters that used the older system w/ firewire(i know the iphone has usb but hear me out)none work. alot of docks/car chargers no longer work. as far as i know there is none that works for iphone 3g. it did for the previous model, and will transmit on the 3g but will not charge. in another month, there will be new models that actually support the 3g, but none do so at the moment. here's a link to the ilounge for better info:

  • My iPhone Wish List

Not sure if anybody cares, but here are the things I'd love to see happen with the iPhone. The phone is totally ******* and I really like a lot - I just wish it had the following features:
    1. Unified email in-box instead of completely separate box for each account
    2. The ability to create shortcuts and liberate functions from within the "settings" menu and move them to the main page OR
    3. A software update that puts shortcuts for wifi and bluetooth on the main page - I turn them both on and off constantly (much more frequently than I watch You Tube on my phone, for example) to conserve battery life
    4. Better battery life when wifi and/or bluetooth are activated
    5. Improved performance from the Edge Network. With a wifi connection the thing hums, but with Edge sometimes it won't even completely download email (especially if it has attachments). That is lame.
    6. Let us create our own **** ringtones! It's an iPod, fer chrissakes!
    7. Enable cut and paste functions.
    8. In future versions put a normal headphone jack on the iPhone so connectors made for iPod (especially for car connection to aux jack) will fit in it without that crazy $10 adapter.
There's my wish list! Now, if I close my eyes and hope against hope, or maybe I should just send these to Apple...

I, too, would like to see more out of my $600 iPhone. But I think most of your points are hopeless because:
+1. Unified email in-box instead of completely separate box for each account+
What's the point? Then you'll have less of an idea which message came from where.
+2. The ability to create shortcuts and liberate functions from within the "settings" menu and move them to the main page OR+
+3. A software update that puts shortcuts for wifi and bluetooth on the main page - I turn them both on and off constantly (much more frequently than I watch You Tube on my phone, for example) to conserve battery life+
Point taken, this might not be a horrible feature to have a soft button on the home page for turning on and off all -three- transmitters separately.
+4. Better battery life when wifi and/or bluetooth are activated+
This is entirely dependent on the hardware chips driving those transceivers. As such, you're dreaming.
+5. Improved performance from the Edge Network. With a wifi connection the thing hums, but with Edge sometimes it won't even completely download email (especially if it has attachments). That is lame.+
Welcome to EDGE. It's barely faster than an analog modem. Your 3G iPhone will be on the market in a year or two. Live with it until then.
+6. Let us create our own ** ringtones! It's an iPod, fer chrissakes!+
Oh yay for copyright and political issues. When you want to make a song a ringtone, everybody wants a cut. The song writer, because he wrote the song. The cell provider, because you're a member of their 'network'. And Apple because you should be buying the ringtone from iTMS.
The technical problems behind this lack of funcationality is minimal. The problem is ENTIRELY political. I wish Apple would just do it, but I think they're playing too much CYA to offend the other parties involved.
+7. Enable cut and paste functions.+
I think they simply overlooked this one. Once they settle on something that won't rip off Windows Mobile too bad, they'll implement it.
+8. In future versions put a normal headphone jack on the iPhone so connectors made for iPod (especially for car connection to aux jack) will fit in it without that crazy $10 adapter.+
Aaaaaaaaamen! This is the biggest failure of QA I've ever seen. Even normal iPod headphones won't fit!!!
All that said, I love the iPhone, really! I just want it to be the device we know it really should be.

  • FM transmitter doesn't work with iPhone 5

Hi All.. I'm looking for an FM transmitter that will work with the iPhone 5. .. ??
Is it the transmitters or the phone?
I had a 3GS previously and used an FM transmitter that worked great. (also worked fine with iPod touch) ..This one connects through the charge port. When I got the iphone 5, I just put a lightning adapter on it, but the transmitter no longer worked. I can hear the music very faintly fuzzy if I turned it up full blast. I thought it was just that it didn't like the adapter.
So I bought another generic FM transmitter, this one plugs into the headphone jack. .. I get the same as the other transmitter, the faint fuzz.
The guy who sold it to me said he's sold lots of them and had no complaints. .. the reason I believe him is because it's the same result as I am getting with the other transmitter. Any suggestions? .. Could it be something so dumb as a setting somewhere?

Well, nevermind I guess. .. Weird.. I went around the dial trying several different blank radio stations and it was like it slowly got better and clearer.. then by the time I got back to my original 88.1 it was just fine. .. Almost like it had trouble finding the frequency or something. .. ?? oh well whatever, it works.
I don't know how to close a thread.. Moderators?

    Extracts :
General Policy: Use of non-Transmitting PEDs
Whilst the use of all PEDs is prohibited during the taxi, take-off and landing phases of flight, (when the passenger seat belt sign is on), use of PEDs that only produce spurious emissions are often permitted during the cruise phase of flight. However, the aircraft crew may require PED use to be suspended at any time, and such a request must be obeyed. Such a case might be if the crew suspects that the PED use is the cause of interference with aircraft systems.
Examples of PEDs that might be permitted to be used during the cruise phase of flight includes:
laptop computers, PDAs and MP3 players (as long as they do not include wireless transmitting functions); and
electronic games, DVD players, CD players, cassette players, video or "still" cameras and calculators.
The use of some mobile phones or PDAs is also permitted by some airlines as long as they are used in the "flight safe" mode only, and this mode is enabled before the PED is turned off before the start of the flight, so that it is already within the “flight safe” mode when it is turned back on in the permitted phase of flight. The restriction on the use of PEDs applies to devices carried onboard by the passenger or provided to the passenger by the crew. It does not apply to time measuring equipment (watches etc.) or implanted medical devices (pacemakers etc.). Any medical devices that include a monitoring feature that includes a transmitting function to a medical centre should have this transmitting feature switched off during the flight – see general policy on use of transmitting PEDs.
General Policy: Use of Transmitting PEDs
The use of PEDs that intentionally transmit for the purposes of data transfer or vocal communication is generally prohibited for the duration of the flight. This is due to the level of EM Radiation generated during the communication process being greater than that caused by the PEDs' spurious emissions, which are normally tolerated.Examples of intentionally transmitting PEDs that are generally prohibited are:
mobile phones, personal computer equipment with wireless wide, local or personal area network (WWAN, WLAN or WPAN) devices, radio transmitters and remote control equipment (which may include some toys).
Some airlines may accept the use of low power devices conforming to the Bluetooth standard during the cruise phase of flight. The transmissions of these have been shown to be no greater than the host PED's spurious emissions.
Some aircraft are equipped with WiFi type Wireless Local Area Networks. In such cases, compatible devices may be used during the cruise phase of flight. Use is not permitted on aircraft not equipped with this feature.
Some aircraft are now equipped to enable mobile phones to be used. Details can be found in the section on Mobile phones. On all aircraft not equipped with these systems, use of mobile phones is prohibited for the entire duration of the flight.

I have the Jabra Cruiser and love it. The battery seems to last forever before needing to be charged. The forward and reverse track buttons don't work with the iPhone's but this is Apple's fault not Jabra's but the Pause button does work. You should be able to pick one up pretty cheap on e-bay or Amazon to give it a try. It's FM transmitter works as good or better than most FM iPod/iPhone transmitters.

  • Adapter to play Iphone in Car

what type of adapter is reccomended to plug my Iphone into my car's stereo system and do retailers other than Apple sell them?

There are a variety of ways. But for the most part, either you have a unit in your car with a jack already or you don't. If you don't then workarounds have to be done. If it does have a jack, many just have a basic headphone type jack you would plug into it from the headphones on the iPhone.
If you don't have a jack on the unit, then most just fall back to FM transmitters like this one.

  • I cannot trust the iphone 3g at all.

I did some text message self pings and never got a couple of them today. Tonight I was waiting for some friends to drop by. They called 4 times and my phone never rang. When I went to look at it a voicemail came in. I have 5 bars at my house. This thing is just to flakey. I cant depend on it. I've never seen a bigger disaster product come out of Apple.

Before you start writing off your phone I think you should give it some time to see how things work out.
You wont miss texts because of poor signal, surfing the web, using wifi etc etc. If your phone can't receive a text your provider wont send it!
I once had all sorts of missed calls and lost texts through about a week, not long ago, and it all turned out to be a faulty transmitter (or something) according to my provider (T-Mobile UK).
I can also remember being in an outdoor festival where mobile transmitters had been set up specially to provide temporary phone coverage for the area. during the day my phone did all sorts of odd things like dropped calls (in full signal strength) and even crashed a few times. Everything went fine once I had moved away from those temporary transmitters.
The point is, it is surprising how much of your phones reliability is down to what the networks are doing. It could be that the purchasing of your new phone coincides with some network trouble.
I don't have any text or call issues on my 3G iphone.

  • 3G iphone outstanding spec! Shame about the plastic back cover!

WOW I am so totally blow away by the spec of the new 3G iphone!
I have only one criticism why when Apple put so much care into the styling of the new Macbook Air & the first gen iphone/ipod touch etc with sleek brushed metal finish to the case have they opted for a plastic back cover on the new 3G iphone?
I hope if they are giving us the option of a black or white back cover that they have a rethink and also give us the option of a metal back cover too!!! Just a thought...
    Message was edited by: NRG1970

There is a simple reason that it has a plastic case.
In side the new phone there are 10 radio transmitters / receivers that all need access to the outside world via a radio transparent material. The radios are the multiple phone standards for world coverage, GPS, Bluetooth, and WiFi. A metal case would not allow all these signals to pass through.

Can I buy an adapter so that I can play my iTunes on my iPhone over my car radio??

I don't see why not, in fact doing it that way will give you better sound quality that using FM transmitters. I use a tape adapter.

  • Is it just me, or is my iPhone 4s and iPad 2 losing battery power quicker

Before iOS update the ipad 2 and iphone 4s made it through the entire day. After updating to iOS 6, my devices hardly make it through the whole day. iPhone makes it half way through the day and the iPad just barely makes it. I never have the location on or bluetooth. WIFI is sometimes, but thats not the point. It always made it through the day, always. That's why I got the phone. I've used the iphones since 2007 and Apple knows it. This is the worst I've seen it, and I am losing my likes for this phone. I am not going to buy the iPhone 5 to solve the problem.

My 1 month old IPAD 2 (Christmas for my wife & I) Wifi worked fine before I had to go out of town just after upgrading to 5.  Bought a Verizon MiFi 4G LTE wifi hot spot while out of town, really nice with really great data rates.
Then I came home to the apartment.  Ipad worked fine last night, while updating my magazines, surfing, reading and playing some games.  But this morning WiFi is in and out like a yo-yo.  I have 10-30 second cycle on ALL Wifi transmitters I have access to in the building.  I cannot get one to lock on but for very short periods if at all.  (Wife is not going to like this when she gets home.)
Have even reset all my wifi settings on my router and my MiFi.  Cannot even link into an unsecured Linksys someone has in the building.  Unsat being tethered to my computer or diddling on my smartphone.
Believe this is a software/antenna coordinatation issue.  The selectivity between the signals (b/g/n & unsecured) is not being bracketed and locked onto.
APPLE:  Listen, this is NOT a router problem folks, although, as suggested in other posts, you might want to isolate to g or n to make the signal easier to lock on.  The WEP/WPA could be a problem with the selectivity being toughter when you use the higher encryption (WPA/WPA2).  One post who was desperate shifted to WEP (128-Bit) encryption.
Apple really should hire some decent antenna engineers, then match them up with the software folks.  This really should NOT be happening.  My unit has not been dropped or mishandled in any way, although it should be mildly ruggedized if United Air Line pilots are using them for enroute charts.
Will go to a WiFi isolated area where I can try my MiFi 4G wifi hotspot in an uncluttered EM environment and post my findings.  If this is not a structural problem, my guess is it will work.
Steve J.  would not be happy with the Apple Wifi H/W-S/W coordination.  Let's get this issue resovled.

  • Updated iOS 6.1 and my iphone 4S has no sound HELP!!!

Just downloaded iOS 6.1 and lost all my sound - no ringtones, no music, no notifications, just vibration. My alarm clock won't even make a sound. PLEASE help!

Mine is iPhone 4S (warranty is void). I'am having the same problem. Sometimes back to normal (after idle for a while), but not last. Turning off the phone raises back the issue.
    - On volume up/down button clicked: Ringer overlay is shown but not bars
    - No lock/unlock sound
    - No notification sound
    - It's ringing when receive phone call or set volume from Sound setting
    - After turned off, iPhone won't turn on unless plugged to charger
    I've done these:
    - Cleaned up charging port
    - Dryed the iPhone (hairdryer; below the sunlight) - just in case
    - Reset all settings
I haven't restore the phone since I'm not sure if messages, mails, WhatsApp, LINE (etc) histories will back after synced from backup.
I read that deleting com.apple.iapd.plist (Root>System>Library>LaunchDaemons) can fix this, but it needs jailbraking (iFile/iExplorer) which I don't want to. Furthermore, "Deleting the 'com.apple.iapd.plist' may effect the functioning of hardware accessories that go with various apps, such as FM transmitters and Nike accessories, etc." —wisso (https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3790682?start=45&tstart=0)
I'm not sure if some apps crash with latest iOS update and cause this.
I'm still looking for the right solution.

  • Bluetooth and iPod side of iPhone

My Jawbone bluetooth headset works great with the phone side of the iPhone. Anyone know of a way to get it to work with the iPod side so you can listen to audiobooks through the bluetooth headset?

But hopefully enough of us will complain that they will correct it. I want to stream music through my car audio system the way I can a phone call. Where I live those FM transmitters won't work because the airwaves are too crowded.
