IPhone for a non-US citizen to use in US

Hi! I will travel to US frequently this year and want to buy iPhone to function as my cellphone with all other features while I'm in US and as iPod and Internet device when I'm in Russia or any other country outside US. As I understood I must have a Social Security Number and valid US billing address. So if I don't -- I can't use iPhone legally with AT&T paying with MasterCard (issued by russian bank) and will be forced to unlock it? Or I can ask a friend (US citizen) to provide me with such info and just send him money regularly to fill AT&T bills? And is it real I won't be able to activate iPhone without iTunes Store account?
Thank you!

lol @ will be forced to unlock it.

+lock it.+
If your friend will get it for you he will be activating it for you using his iTunes account. And yes he can get it for you if he trusts that you will pay him for the bills on time
Yes all features will work apart from any phone features (these are locked to AT&T)

    Welcome to the Apple community.
You can only restore them from a Computer backup. This has occurred because you are sharing an iCloud account. ideally you should each have your own iCloud account, that way you can each manage your own mail, contacts, calendars, documents etc and avoid unintentional deletions and unwanted editing. If there is information you wish to share between you, this can be done with a secondary account.
Having separate iCloud accounts, doesn't mean you have to have separate iTunes accounts, so whilst you keep your personal data separate, you can continue to share music, apps, books, TV shows, movies etc.

  • HT1918 Why can I no longer access my pre paid iTunes credit from my iPhone for in game purchases since i used a credit card.

I cannot access my pre paid iTunes credit from my iPhone 5 but it is clearly displayed on my PC

It's quite unusual to find a TV that has a genuine network file server access mode (yours might, though: what model is it?), so the chances are that you have been using twonky DLNA up to now... I'd suggest looking to see if your TV has upgraded its firmware. As for the solution, you might check the 'Navigation Type' selected for your TV under Sharing|Media Receivers on the twonky UI pagepage; this determines the 'views' that are presented to DLNA clients. One of which is 'By Folder'. If you haven't already seen it, this FAQ might help: http://community.wd.com/t5/WD-My-Cloud/FAQ-Twonky-DLNA-Media-Server-Setup-amp-Use/td-p/858810

  • I got a new iPhone for my cousin and she is using the same the Apple ID as mine and now when I send her text messages to her number, it's sending it to myself and not her. What do I do?

I am also receiving random text messages from some of her contacts, and she is not getting them.

If it's just a text message and not iMessage that is a problem with the service provider.  You should take the iPhone back to the store and explain to them what is going on.

  • App Store for Non-US Citizens

    Hello,
I seem a bit lost here. After reading all the posts I am still not sure. What exactly is the process for a non-US citizen in order to sell apps at the App Store? I do not own a business just solely develop applications. I have an address in the US and I am able to open a bank account but I reside overseas. So my questions are...
    How does Apple issue payout's?
If they issue you checks, do you receive them in your country if you live abroad?
How does a non-US citizen declare payout's if they are received in the US? And do taxes have to be filed?
IF there is something I am missing here that could be helpful please let me know (ex. ITIN). Thanks!

You may find this a helpful starting point for your research.   Good luck.

  • IPhone 4 for non-us citizen in the USA

    Hello!
I'm from Russia. In the end of the August I'll travel to the USA (San-Francisco). So I've got a question about purchasing iPhone 4 in the USA by non-us citizen (without AT&T contract). Can I buy iPhone 4 without contract in usual Apple Store? The price will be $599 for 16Gb and $699 for 32Gb, am I right?
Thank you very much in advance!

You can buy it without a contract, but I think only directly at an Apple Store. And yes on the pricing. Be aware that the iPhone is in very short supply, and I'm not sure that they'll have a sufficient supply in late August. The San Francisco Store is very large, so you might be lucky. Or you can call to reserve one for when you're there (not sure you can do it).
    Good luck.

  • Can I use autofill - but reserve space on iPhone for non-music ?

    Hi
I would like to autofill my Iphone with music but reserve space on the Iphone for other media.  It seems it used to be possible, but I can't find it anymore on Itunes 11 on my Imac.  Any help? THanks!
    Mike

You must have gotten an SSD in your mini, then: I didn't think of that initially.
While it is technically possible to mount an iPod and use it in disk mode to store an iTunes library, the iPod's drive is very slow and not designed for the sort of continuous use having it store your iTunes library would put it to, so I would not recommend using it as such. If you don't want to keep your library on the mini, use the external drive, or perhaps better buy another one to use for your library.  You can pick up a 500GB USB drive for under $60 if you shop around.
BTW, marking your own post as being the one to solve your problem isn't a good strategy unless you did indeed find the solution yourself and do not need any further responses.
    Regards.

  • How does non-US citizen use iTunesConnect to publish iBook?

I want to publish an iBook using the iTunesConnect service. But when signing up, it asks for my US Tax ID. As a non-US citizen, I obviously don't have one of these. Does this mean I can't use the service?
Is there a way around this problem?

This thread talks about how you get the ID required.

Same here.  I don't know how to solve the problem, but I figured out a way to close the app without re-starting or resetting the phone.  If you click ok and then press the home button twice really fast before the dialog box shows back up, you can put the phone in multi-tasking mode and close the app without having the shut the phone off or reset it.  Anxiously awaiting the fix for this since I have several apps I use that I can access at the moment.

  • HT201328 I want to temporarily unlock my iPhone for use in Spain. How do I find a compatible SIM from supported carrier?

I want to temporarily unlock my iPhone for use in Spain. How do I find a compatible SIM from supported carrier?

    No such status
AT&T will either unlock your iPhone or not
    there is ......
    A carrier locked iPhone
A non carrier locked iPhone (known as unlocked) ,nothing in between
Until AT&T agree to unlock your iPhone you can ONLY use your existing sim

  • Cannot view attachments sent to me - difficulty using iPhone for business

I have a Yahoo business e-mail account synced to my iPhone. For my business I need to view dozens of attachments each day -- mostly PDFs, PowerPoint and Word files. Some are large (more than 8 MB) and I can understand why those might be slow to load, but I cannot view small ones, such as PDFs that are less than 1 MB. The circle just spins forever.
I have used a BlackBerry 8700C for more than a year and found a product to work with it called Repligo Professional (for individuals as well as enterprise). When I am traveling, it allows me to see all the attachment types within a minute or two. So I still carry my BlackBerry, which I had hoped to retire when I migrated to the iPhone.
The strange thing is that the BlackBerry uses EDGE and the AT&T network, and it is very fast, whereas the iPhone using EDGE/AT&T does not work.
Switching to WIFI does not help.
This difficulty, combined with the cumbersome need to delete one e-mail at a time, makes the iPhone impractical for business use at this time.
Is there any solution that I am not aware of?
    Thanks,
    Anna

I have received many pictures from other phones, both iPhones and other non iPhones. iMessage and standard text messages have both contained pictures. However when I want to view the pictures, I cannot. When I click on the pictures it takes me to a black screen that says its loading but it never finishes. I have left it loading for over an hour with no luck of seeing the picture. I have tried it on many wifi networks and both 4g and 3G cell service with no luck. I have now figured out to save the picture then enter the photos app to look at the picture. While this solution works, I simply want my pictures to load when I click on them so I can see if it is one I need to save. Any help on how to fix the problem?  I have an iPhone 4S.

  • HT5625 Upgraded iphone 4 to 5s.  Want to use 4 as ipod. DO NOT KNOW APPLE ID FOR 4.  When I try to find Apple ID, it finds the id on my ipad and my 5s.  I have no idea what the old id is?  What are my options?

    New ID?
Is there some reason you created a new AppleID?
Why don't you simply continue to use the same AppleID you had?
The 4 ID IS something I made up in the store the day I bought the phone.  I have no idea what the id is.
You had an iPhone for 2 years and you never got anything from iTunes or never enabled any features of the iPhone?

Never did this before IOS7. Will I have more troubble when her phone updates to IOS7? Is icloud going to be forced on me then?

This is being caused by using the same Apple ID for iMessage on both phones.  To separate your messages, go to Settings>Messages>Send & Receive and do one of the following:
Either uncheck the email address shown under "You can be reached by iMessage at" on both phones; or
If you want to continue to receive iMessages at this email address, on one of the two phones, tap the Apple ID at the top, sign out, then sign back in using a different Apple ID.

  • I just bought a second iPhone for my business... I used my existing apple account and now all my texts are coming to both phones.. How do I get a secondary apple ID and change it on my business phone?

I used my existing apple ID when I purchased a second iPhone for my business.. Now all my texts are coming to both phones.. Is there a way to create a new apple account for my business phone and if so.. How do I delete one and add another?

Yes, you can have two separate Apple IDs, and it's pretty easy to set this up. Go into Settings > iTunes & App Store on your business phone. You should see your current Apple ID. Tap on it, then tap on sign out. You can then create a new Apple ID, using a different email address and password than those associated with the Apple ID on your other phone. Log back in using this new information, and you shouldn't get the texts that come to your other phone.
    Hope this helped!
