Iphone for VGA Video Out not working

We have the Iphone/iPad VGA to Monitor connector. We tested it with 3 different iPhone 4 phones... It worked on 2 of them, but the 3rd woudn't work. What possible reason would it not work? The 3 phones had software of 4.3 and higher...

Dr. L,
The previous iPod's did not support component video out for newer televisions that support it. The box for the older Video out cables do not say they support the iPhone.
The current video out cables are available in either component or composite video out. They also say they support the iPhone on the box.
In addition when shopping the Apple Store online for iPod or iPhone accessories there is a compatibility guide which shows icons of the iPod models or iPhone that are supported.
Overall my personal experience is that this, and other Apple specific ones, are much smaller compatibility, and downtime driver for IT than many of them I have run across supporting a variety of computer and networking platforms over the last 23 years.
Hope this helps,
Nathan C.

  • Digital video out not working

For some reason on my 2011 Mac Book Pro the digital video out does not work?  It works just fine using the minii adapter for analog video out, but not for digital?
    Any advice much appreciated!
    Thx
    Mark

It is working exactly as it is supposed to. You didn't read the description properly before buying.
Video mirroring is available on the iPhone 4S, not the iPhone 4.
Video out needs to be supported by the app you are using.

  • Video Out not working on Ipod Classic 80gb

I can't get video out to work on anything. I have a relatively new Onkyo home theater with an iPod dock that has video out cables, and I can't get a picture to show up on the TV. Also, my gym has StarTrac cardio equipment which has video connectivity through a built-in iPod dock. Video is supposed to show up on the TV monitor attached to the cardio machines, but all I get is "no signal".
Since I can't get either of them to work, is something wrong with my iPod?
    Thanks!

When you want to show the video on your TV, have you selected TV out in the video settings options?
If that's not the problem, check this page, http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1454 to ensure you have the correct cable for your iPod, although you need to ensure you have identified your iPod model correctly. Check http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1353 if you're not sure because there is a crucial difference between the Classic and the 5th generation video models. (On the *iPod and iPhone: TV out support* page - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1454 - look at the third table down, headed *Apple Component AV Cable with iPod Universal Dock or Apple Universal Dock* .) Notice that the Apple Universal Dock and Component cable combination works for an iPod Classic, but not for the 5th gen iPod. My point being; if the STarTrac device you mention has a built-in dock, perhaps it's designed for the iPod Classic, but if you have the 5th gen, it won't work.
... and no, I don't know why one dock is called the Apple Universal Dock, while the other is called iPod Universal Dock! Such a similar naming convention only leads to confusion. I know, I had to examine each box in my local store to find the iPod dock among all the Apple docks they had since they thought both docks were identical.

  • Anyone have a fix for Facebook video chat not working in Mavericks?

I have seen many people having the problem of video chat not working in Facbook since upgrading to Mavericks. The good news is the camera icon has reappeared, but it still is not working.
    Any help would be AWESOME!!
    thx

    Hi,
If it is in Messages it will need to be Messages to Messages.
i.e. a Mac Buddy also using iChat or Messages to do Jabber Video chats in the app.
This means it will not connect to someone using a Jabber app that can do Video or the web Page login and using "chat" from there.
I believe the Web Browser method with Facebook's own end to end connection use Flash.
You may need to update a version of Flash if your have it or install it if you do not.
FaceTime would not connect to the Jabber connections that Facebook is running.
FaceTime is it's own service and does not connect to others.
Messages and FaceTime are run on different servers and you can in fact run different IDs in each.
(this can causes issues when your Invoke a FaceTime Video Chat from Messages which presumes the Contact is using the same ID).

  • HT1454 iPhone 4s video out not working with AV cable

I have an iPhone 4s with ios 6.0.  I recently bought the apple composite AV cable from an apply store.  Unfortunate when I connect it to my tv all I get is sound.  I've search for tv out settings but I can't seem to find them.  Any suggestions?

im running ios 6.1.3 but have been having this problem for a while at least 2 earlier versions.I have an iphone 4s as do 2 of my work colleagues one running on the same as me and the other slightly earlier but not sure. I have a docking device that has an av out and also an iphone adater to composite av.and also vuzix wrap that supports iphone My phone doesnt work with any and i can recall starting to have problems first with the docking device which became temperamental and then wouldnt work at all.both my mates phones work with it and the glasses. My kids ipad 2s work with the composite lead and the glasses- dont fit the dock obviously ,my iphone 3 runs on all.i can only think that at some point the internals of my iphone 4s may have become damaged hence the intermittant problems with the dock at first ,and maybe its the 30 pin plug could it be that whichever of the pins carry the av signal have become damaged in some way posible dampness ,but im going to have it changed as it seems like a likey possibility.I can say one thing it was nothing to do with the software version ,nor any other device or lead. Also what i thought might be the internal 30 pin plug is i dont get a message l anymore saying the "accessory is not compatible with this iphone"therefore i dont think the phone knows theres a plug in so for the av out pins anyway as it charges up fine

  • Iphone Videos & Video Out not working

    Hi All,
I have several TV programmes on my iphone, and yet when i plug the iphone into my TV using the apple composite AV cable, and tell the iphone to display on screen nothing happens, no sound or picture at all.
I have just moved to Chicago from London so the video setting in the Iphone is PAL, could that be what is affecting it, should I change this setting ? The TV in the apartment is quite old fashioned and a brand name I don't recognise (Insignia CRT) so not sure whether it is the TV, but it has the right inputs.
    Any ideas much appreciated
    Thanks

  • Video out not working properly

i recently bought the Gigaware Composite A/V Cable for my 3rd Gen iPod touch at Radio Shack. It works beautifully with youtube and both iTunes videos as well as ones i uploaded myself. i get full video and sound with these. But when i try to play music there is no sound, when i try to view pictures they do not come up and when i try to use the netflix app there is no sound. I know my version of iPod is not yet compatible with video out for the netflix app, but others are saying they get sound, i get nothing. is there a setting that i need to correct or some other way to fix this? I also have a 1st generation iPod touch, and i have the same issue with this one as well. Please help.

The video only works with specific application. I would not expect music to one of those since there is no video in music. I know on the iPad photos do not display on video out (slide shows do). The same may apply for the iPod. I can't answer about the NetFlix no sound.
An Apple Support page says the following so there may be difference in different manufacture's cables.
Note: If you choose to use a third-party cable, make sure it has the "Works with iPhone" or "Made for iPod" label. Learn more about iPod and iPhone accessories.

  • MacBook video out not working

    Hi there
I bought the mini-dvi to s-video/composite output to connect my MacBook up to a TV while away from home (to watch TV and movies) but it doesn't work. First I suspected the old TV, but works OK with the Wii connected. Then I thought it was the cable, but I tried a new cable and the sound works fine, so that's not it. Then I suspected the adapter, but when I got home I connected it to my wife's MacBook and it worked fine.
So, looks like I have dodgy graphics card hardware?
The MacBook detects that the adapter is connected, so some of the pins are working OK. I just can't get a signal from my MacBook to the TV and the auto detect does not work.
Anyone got any ideas? The computer is no longer under warranty and I don't have time to take it to the dealer (it takes them three weeks to turn around a fault!) so I'm guessing that I'll have to open up the device myself and check for some bad connections?
    Any advice is appreciated!
    Regards... Jonny.

Video out under 10.5.2 works fine for me and for a colleague of mine with a more recent MacBook Pro. I'd wager it's a problem with your Leopard install, not a universal one.
Also, FYI, Apple doesn't read these forums; they're just for user-to-user help. If you want to leave MacBook Pro feedback for Apple, do so here:
    http://www.apple.com/feedback/macbookpro.html
But again, I do not believe yours is a universal issue. We'll be happy to help troubleshoot though. What do you mean the image is "unstable"? Could you take a digital photograph of the external monitor's screen and upload it somewhere?

  • Video Out not working on 2g

Hey I am using an iPod touch 2g with 2.2.1 firmware. I just bought a video cable (i-tec) it says "made for iPod" on it, but when I try to use it watch movies on my tv it does not work.

Take it back and buy an official Apple cable which is guaranteed to be compatible with the iPod touch.
Some third-party cables aren't made to work with the iPod touch, and only work with older iPods.

  • Video out not working

So, the audio is working fine, and the video is fine on my brother's iPod video, but the video on my iPod touch isn't working at all. What can I do to fix this?

    Hey Bender59,
You'll need the Apple Composite AV Cable or the Apple Component AV Cable to do video out on your iPod touch.

  • Ipad Mini :Lightning /HDMI Video Out Not working

I just tried a new Apple Ipad/IPhone AV HDMI/ Lightning adapter to try and play videos to my TV/Monitors thru their HDMI Port.
The Ipad Mini recognized it was plugged in and notified me it was playing thru my TV.
But I got no audio/video thru the TV and no indication it was getting a signal thru the adapter.
    What am I doing wrong?
The HDMI input in my Flatscreen HD TV shows my Mac Mini screen perfectly and any videos I have thru it.
Bad adapter, bad HDMI cable, operator error?
What is the system NOT playing content?
The $49.00 adapter should work flawlessly at this price point, imho.

Took a trip to the Genius Bar and about 2 minutes to correct: The Dynex HDMI Cable from Best Buy didn't work. The Apple one works fine.
Now I find my Movie Download from Comcast On Demand won't play thru the adapter. The Movie plays fine on the Mini, but I get a screen warning it's being blocked by Apples' Relationship with Starz. Funny, Comcast says it works fine. Another example of Apple forcing me to use the I-Tunes store on their products if I want to see it on their Hardware? If I pay for the rights thru Comcast, and they don't limit my Hardware, is it right for a Computer Maker too?  After the E-Books price fixing probe...are these kinds of issues next?

  • Ipod Touch Video Out not working with IOS5?

I normally could play video just fine from my Ipod to my TV and Exercise machine via the ipod plug in on the bottom...however since IOS5...video will play for  secs. on the TV then TV goes blank....sound works and the IPOD Touch displays the normal "Vidoe out" screen mode that normally shows when the video is being displayed on the TV.  any ideas?  any way to revert back to the previous OS?

Downgrading the iOS is not supported by Apple.
What cable are yu using and what is the source of the videos?
Have yu tried another app that supports TV out?

  • S-video out not working

I have a "cheap" dvd player that has a composite AV input. it works fine with digital cameras, etc. However, the s-video port on my powerbook does not seem to detect it. I have tried shutting down the computer, connecting it and then turning it back on, etc. but it just doesn't seem to connect with the player.
i'm wondering if there's something wrong with the s-video on my computer or have i just missed something obvious.
    PowerBook G4   Mac OS X (10.3.9)

yes, i guess it doesn't say exactly for this model. i think from doing a bit of googling that it is under the keyboard on the very top right corner. make sure the computer is completely off, then ground yourself by touching some metal and letting go, and then press the button only once counting 1 mississippi.
