Iphone freeze during iOS 5.1update

the iphone is completely frozen
with the apple and the bar
not responding anymore
no possibility to restore
what must i do?

Here is how to solve the problem step by step:
You should connect your iPhone to USB 2.1 port or older.  If you are connecting your iPhone to the computer using a USB 3.0 port, disconnect it immediately.  iPhones will lock up if you try to update your phone while it is connected through a USB 3.0 port.
Disconnect the iPhone from the computer
Go to Device Manager and find the connected USB port.  Click the mouse right button and update the driver
Shut the iPhone by pressing the sleep button and the home button concurrently for some time
Move the USB cable to a USB 2.1 port or older without the iPhone.
Restart iTunes.
Connect the iPhone
Your computer should recognize the phone and reloads the correct USB 2.1 driver (Apple Mobile Device)
Then iTunes should recognize the iPhone and starts reloading the firmware.
When that is complete it may ask if you wish to restore, naturally you say YES
iTunes will restore the iOS
Using iTunes, restore the latest backup to get your data back.
When all of the above is completed.  Start enjoying your iPhone.
If the above does not work.  Throw your iPhone out of the window and get a replacement Android phone.

  • HT201210 iPhone freezing during restore.....

My iPhone 4 keeps freezing about 60% way through a restore, according to iTunes when the firmware is being updated. Any ideas how to fix? I have tried a different computer, disabling my security software etc. and still no luck :o( (Windows)

I was doing exactly what you suggested for hours prior to posting my question. I tried restoring, I tried restore/update over and over and it would always freeze between 25-75% through. I restarted my laptop 20 times, uninstalled and reinstalled itunes 4 times. Finally, today I was so frustrated that when I saw it freeze up one more time, I just pulled the power cord out of my laptop and walked away. An hour later I booted back up and set it to restore before I left the room and ....magic, it finally worked. Whether the unplug event had any real connection, I don't know.
If anyone does freeze during an update and has the "connect to itunes screen with the red itunes logo" stuck on their iphone screen, modular 747 is correct. Just keep trying the restore/update through itunes, but be prepared to do it non-stop for almost 72 hours like I did.

  • IPhone Freeze during Sync (itunes 7.4.2, or  OSX 10.4.10?)

Ok, a few seconds into my sync, my iPhone freezes.
the animation on the words "slide to cancel" stops and I can't slide the slider to stop the sync. the only way to get the iphone back is to do a reset.
I think that I have not been able to sync since upgrading to itunes 7.4.2, or osx 10.4.10.
when I go to preferences it does not list any iphones backed up on this computer, even though I have synced this iphone to this computer before.
any ideas? I'm on firmware 1.0.2 but I'm afraid to upgrade until I do a sync that works!!!
    I also

I have been having this same issue for over a month.
Took it to the Genius Bar @ my local Apple Store, they replaced it.
Sync went fine, then went to create ringtones and it froze.
I called Apple support line, got their top tech after two other people failed, spoke
for over an hour. Came away with no more sync issues.
A week later I went to sync using 1.1.1, OK , put in dock few days later and its freezing again !

  • Iphone froze during iOS update

My iPhone 4s froze up the other day.  I was installing the newest iOS update.  It starts with the apple logo and then a progress bar starts to build underneath it not long after that starts it switches to a loading wheel that freezes up until it starts the process all over again.  I tried both holding the power button and the soft reset which both just start this same process over again.  I tried connecting to my MacBook but it says I need to verify on the phone that I want to connect to iTunes, which I can't do because I get nothing on the screen besides what I already described.  Any suggestions?  Thank You.

    Hey jonesjm25,
Thanks for the question. It sounds like something may have been interrupted during the update process. To resolve your issue, let’s try restoring your iPhone in recovery mode:

  • Itunes keeps freezing during iOS 5 update/restore

A short while ago I tried updating my 3rd Generation ipod touch to iOS 5 however I came across a problem. It seemed like the os finished updating and my itunes was supposed to sync everything back onto my ipod however it froze around 40% during the syncing part so now all of my songs and vids are un-synced. On top of itunes freezing it actually caused my entire laptop to freeze. I hard booted it, opened itunes, and a message came up saying to continue restoring it from the last backup time; I tried that however my itunes/laptop froze again. I noticed once before my itunes freezes whenever I synch a lot of files, not sure if that's the problem now but I'm really getting annoyed with it now. I’m going to try the wi-fi sync to see if that will keep it from freezing on me. Does anyone have any idea what I should do to stop the freezes?

I'm not sure why I can't edit my question but here's a short update.
After I tried the wifi sync it pretty much was the same as before, no songs, videos, or pictures, and only a handful of apps were on it. I tried using the restore to previous backup of my device which finished in 5 minutes and my ipod restarted itself. However, during the restart my itunes came up with an error saying "Itunes was interrupted while restoring of the ipod. Would you like to restore this ipod again now?" I saw this message not too long ago which was when it froze 40% through the restoring process. Just to reiterate my problem, I can't sync or restore my ipod from the backup because it's either "interrupted" or my itunes freezes.

  • Iphone freezes during restore - should I re-install itunes?

I downloaded iTunes to a new computer today. I synced my iphone and then tried to update the software. Each time I go through this process however, it freezes at the same spot. I'm trying to restore my phone and I can't complete the process. If I delete iTunes and re-install it, will I lose all of the information that was synced? My last computer died and I'm unable to get old sync information off of that. I have no back-up calendar or contacts. Any suggestions?
I have been working on this for 3 hours now and I use my phone as my alarm clock and I am laughing at how I'm going to figure out how to get up tomorrow. Can someone call me? No. Phone won't turn on past the plug into iTunes logo. Maybe I should have just kept a landline, datebook and alarm clock. Please help!

Arafatsapey, dead wrong. The current iTunes for for windows is compatible with:
    Windows System Requirements
PC with a 1GHz Intel or AMD processor and 512MB of RAM
Windows XP Service Pack 2 or later, 32-bit editions of Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8
64-bit editions of Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8 require the iTunes 64-bit installer
    400MB of available disk space
Broadband Internet connection to use the iTunes Store

Yudna, I would install the latest iTunes if not already installed

  • IPad2 freezes during iOS 5.1 update

Problem:    iPad2 freezes up before iOS 5.1 upgrade can complete
Solution:    Try a different USB port
Sounds ridiculously simple but figuring it out was anything but. Followed
all instructions to update my 64GB/3G/iPad2 to iOS 5.1. Thankfully this
included a complete backup before starting the process. Everything appeared
to go normally until, at the very end, iTunes displayed an error informing
me the update did not successfully complete.
Tried the standard trick for restarting iPad. Held the HOME and SLEEP/WAKE
keys down simultaneously for 10 seconds no fewer than ten times but iPad
always came back with the graphic of a USB cable pointing toward an iTunes
icon and was otherwise totally unresponsive.
I finally called Apple. James in their Nashville call center had me try the
"prep for reset" procedure. This involves holding down the same two keys but
releasing them in sequence. When the screen goes black you release the
SLEEP/WAKE key but continue holding the HOME key until the Apple logo
appears. This process is supposed to inform iTunes that iPad needs to be
reset to factory defaults. It probably did what it was supposed to do but
iTunes (for Windows) 10.6 couldn't see iPad so it didn't fix my problem.
Tried unplugging iPad and restarting Windows. Windows hung on the shutdown
screen and the PC had to be power-cycled but then restarted normally. Still
no joy for iPad, though. Same symptom. James was about ready to have me
download and re-install iTunes but we stopped just short of what would have
been a time-consuming P.I.T.A. He suggested I plug iPad into a different USB
port and, voila, iTunes found iPad and we were off the races. The restore
took 5-10 minutes after which I restored the backup I made beforehand and
    iPad was fully functional.
Life is good. I get to spend the evening tinkering with GarageBand and I
feel uncharacteristically lucky I landed in James' queue. The experience
convinced me to buy an AppleCare extension. Had this happened a month from
now I would have been S.O.L.

I messed around with it for a while with no luck so I went to my local ATT store and dealt with my gal that has been helping me since the mid 90s.  She plugged it into her PC and luckily  it showed up on her iTunes so we did a full restore on her PC.  Once the full restore was complete we plugged into my PC and my iTunes finally acknowledged it.  So I chose the option to restore from prior backup (the one that I did right before I attemped the iOS update).  It went thru and did the restore from backup like it was supposed to but when it rebooted it wanted to set the phone up again.  I tried the restore from back up two more times, but the same outcome.  So finally I told it to just set up as a new phone and it finally let me get all the way into iTunes. Unfortunately I then had to redo all the foldering and everything on my phone, but luckily I did not lose anything to my knowledge.
I have yet to update my iPad 2.  Time will tell if I will have to go thru everything again.

  • Iphone Freeze During 2.2 Update. Help please

I was updateing my brand new iphone today with the 2.2 software update and it downloaded just fine. When it started to install, I got an error in itunes and it's just sitting at the update screen not moving. It's been about 30 minutes now. Picture below

I can't turn it off or anything.

    Hi Fodah,
What was the error you saw in iTunes? This article: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1275 provides tips that will resolve most error messages.
Try resetting the iPhone as described here: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=305743
Is the iPhone behaving normally after resetting it?
You may have to put the iPhone in recovery mode and restore it again. This article: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1808 will walk you through putting the iPhone into recovery mode.

  • Frozen iPhone 5s during iOS 7.1.2 update

    Hi,
I'm having a problem updating my iPhone 5s:
    iPhone 5s with 7.1.2 installed
Started over the air (wifi) update (plugged)
Everything went smoothly until my iPhone restarted to complete the installation process; now the progress bar is frozen between 1/2 and 2/3 of the way
45 minutes and nothing happening ....
I have read on another thread that people tried rebooting and it seems to work but I'd prefer to wait rather than have to go into recover procedure with a faulty installation.
Anyone with the same problem ? Any solutions
    Daniel

I tried sack solution and it worked. I will check the thread you are referring to.
I guess I will find out if that resulted in a faulty installation in the next few days.

  • IPhone freezing when installing or uninstalling application during sync

    hi,
I've been running to issues with iPhone freezing during install and uninstalling of Applications during iTunes sync. The installation or remove seems to complete after I force reboot iPhone, but sort of troublesome as I'm having to reboot iPhone for every app I try to install or remove. Also, when trying to install or remove application from iPhone's appstore, iPhone gets very unstable and the installation or remove of application never completes.
Is anyone running into this issue? Any workaround (maybe I need to use Mac instead of windows xp ... ?)

I think finally figured out the problem...
This was due to one of the application I had (purchased) installed called "Wisdom dictionary".
This has been taken off of iTunes already but apparently this application was causing other application to not install. The application is about 120 megs, and the company is currently investigating some memory issue related to expanding the installer. It appears to be Apple issue, they are in contact with Apple, but apparently there is no info from Apple when the issue would be addressed....
Anyway, without this application, my iPhone so far has been working pretty well.
It may be possible other large apps may have similar issues.... not sure.

  • Iphone 5 slider freeze during charging.

iphone 5 slider freeze during charging.
This happened after upgrading to iOS 6.1.
    The "slide to unlock" stuck.
I could receive phone, sms, and other notification but can not answer nor reply.
It stuck. This only happened during charging, when I pull the plug, it work normally again.

Basic troubleshooting from the User's Guide is reset, restart, restore (first from backup then as new).  Try each of these in order until the issue is resolved.

  • IPhone 4 froze during iOS 7.02 update

I just attempted to update my iPhone 4 to iOS 7.02 (from iOS 7) and had the phone freeze up during the verification of update process.
After disconnecting the phone from my laptop it wouldn't even allow me to power down the phone for a few minutes. I finally got it to power down and reconnected it to my laptop via USB sync cable and was advised by iTunes to restore the phone.
After restoring and updating the phone now runs "fine" (iOS 7 is just a little to much for my iPhone 4 I think) though rather slow.
    Current version iOS 7.02 (11A501).
Planning on updating to the 5s pretty soon.

    No,you're wrong....
    there is iOS 7.2
I updated my iPhone 4S few hours ago !!!!!!
Yesterday appeared a notification on my iPhone 4S for iOS update.
What I remember is first version of update 7.1 which was around 23 MB. I updated to the 7.1. After that appeared another version for update which was 7.2. So, I updated again to the last version which was 7.2. After finishing the update, the iPhone was restarting and turned off !
When tried to turn it on, it does not worked and appears a message (Picture message) that connect your iPhone to iTunes. When I connected to iTunes, it says you should restore yours to its original settings !!!!!!!!!
What the he**l is going on ? If I restore it, I would lose all my datas !!!
