IPhone froze

I just finished syncing my iPhone to iTunes. I have the 3GS, and the firmware is current as is the version of iTunes.
As soon as I finished syncing, I pressed eject, and removed my phone. The screen went to the black background with the white apple logo. It froze right there. I've pressed and held the wake/sleep button for 10-plus seconds, and the same with the home button.
When I press and hold them both, the screen either goes completely black, or goes black and then returns to the white apple logo. If the screen goes black, then simply pressing the wake/sleep button returns it to the apple logo.
I've tried shutting down, restarting, and then replugging into iTunes. iTunes isn't recognizing the phone either, neither is iPhoto.
UPDATE: Okay, weird. I plugged brand into the MacBook, but didn't open up iTunes. I started to post this thread. Then iPhoto popped back up and the iPhone's "Slide To Unlock" screen appeared. The iPhone has two photos in the camera roll, but they are not showing up on the device through iPhoto.
Still a very weird and scary occurrence. Other than the pics not showing up in iPhoto, everything seems normal. I'm scared to re-sync though.

unfortunately mine does this alot but i do alot of changing (deleting apps, downloading new ones etc...) so just think of it as resettign your computer, i'm sure future updates will change some of the issues, but also, these are 3rd party programs expect them to be buggy and lock up your phone from time to time.

Wait for the Apple logo to Appear...
Usually takes about 15 - 20 Seconds... ( But can take Longer...)
Release the Buttons...

You should try putting it in DFU Mode (hold both Home and Sleep/Wake buttons and then let go of the Sleep/Wake button after 5-7 seconds) which it should already be in, or keep holding the Home and Sleep/Wake button until you seen a flicker and black screen. The phone will reset and reboot.

If by the "starting screen" you mean the Apple logo, then your phone is coming across a software issue that prevents it from finishing it's boot sequence. You will need to replace the software and firmware on the phone to get it back up and running. Doing this will also remove your data from the phone, so hopefully you have synced recently.
To put your phone into DFU recovery mode:
1. Make sure your phone is connected to a computer with iTunes on it.
2. Hold down the sleep/wake button and home button at the same time for 8 seconds.
3. Let go of the sleep/wake button and continue holding the home button.
4. If successful, the phone's display will main black and a dialogue box will appear in iTunes stating thet it detected a phone in recovery mode.
5. Click OK, then click Restore.
After that the phone should be up and running and you can sync your content back.

If the phone froze on the home screen, or has a black screen and will not turn on even during charging the best thin to do is to hold the TOP power button and the HOME button for atleast 10-15 seconds or until you see the APPLE logo on the device. Alternatively if you are inside of an app, you can try the method mentioned here first, or double tap the home screen button to switch tasks and see if you can hold down the application that was running so that they begin to "shake" and you can close that app by pressing the X that appears. Restart your computer, launch iTunes. Hold the HOME button on the iPhone while placing it in the cradle. CONTINUE TO HOLD the HOMB button until the phone enters Recovery mode and syncs with iTunes. This will reinstall the OS.

You may well have to force the iPhone into recovery mode & restore as a new device. so while updating my iphone there was an error so the application (iTunes) quite, but my iphone froze. it has a logo of iTunes on top and arrow and then the chord to connect to the phone which means to connect iphone to itunes, i did but it is still frozen. Connect iPhone to iTunes again and try to Restore again. If it Errors, write down the Error Code on paper so that the problem can be corrected.

Reset the iPhone. Press and hold the top and home buttons for 10+ seconds until it forcibly restarts. Then you should be able to either continue or Restore it using iTunes on your computer.

HDCP is copy protection built into iTunes video content, the Apple TV requires all devices to be HDCP compatible before it will send HDCP content to them. In simplistic terms the Apple TV asks the TV if the signal it will send can be recorded, if it gets the right answer it will send the signal, if it doesn't receive a reply it won't.
Your problem may be one of unsupported equipment or may simply be an error. You could start by checking if your TV is HDCP compliant. If it is the problem might be cabling or another device (such as a receiver) between the Apple TV and TV, it may also just be a glitch which might be resolved by a simple restart.

I have tried pressing the sleep &home button together but it doesnt work!

Unplug it from the charger after it's been connected for at least 15 minutes.
Then, press & hold both the Home Button and Sleep/Wake Button for 15-20 seconds until the Apple logo appears, then release. This will 'reset' the device.
