Iphone frozen and unresponsive

All of a sudden my iPhone screen went black, except for the top row that shows the time and battery life. When I try to shut it off it does not respond to my finger sliding the 'power off' bar, but it does respond to my finger touching it when it dims to go to sleep, and I tap it, it will light back up.
I can't restore it because it is jailbroken and I use it with t-mobile. Any tips?

Press and hold your top button and home button till you get the apple logo.
This will give it a hard reset.

Basics from the manual are restart, reset, restore.
    Try all of these.

  • HT201263 Frozen and unresponsive iPhone 4.

After 2 months my iPhone died. It is frozen and unresponsive .  When I connected it to MacBook, I didn't see neither "Connect to iTunes" screen according to suggestions, no the device  appears in iTunes.

    Hi Laiurb,
Have you tried a reset on your phone? Hold down the Home key and the Power button at the top at the same time and continue to hold both of them down until the Silver Apple appears (ignore the red slider). Once it comes back up, see if your issues are fixed.
    Cheers,

  • Dashboard frozen and unresponsive

I've been getting frequent warnings that the Dashboard Client has unexpectedly quit, but Dashboard itself continued to work until yesterday. Now, however, it doesn't respond - it's frozen at 2pm yesterday according to the clock.
I've trashed the dashboard plist and dashboard client plist from Preferences, but to no effect. The dashboard plist recreates itself, but the dashboard client plist does not recreate itself, so there is no longer anything there in Preferences for me to trash in this respect.
Any suggestions (other than trashing plists)?

http://www.charlessoft.com/ 's Pacifist can extract it from installer discs.    Note, a combo update of the currently installed operating system is highly recommended after extracting something from the installer disc, as frequently that's not the most currently available data for the operating system in question.

  • Ipod Touch Frozen and Unresponsive, not recognized by Macbook

My Ipod Touch suddenly froze and stopped working. I have a black screen, tried the Ipod "reset" by holding both buttons for at least 10 sec. The apple symbol comes on, then the screen goes back to black. Tried this both connected and not connected to my MacBook. Ipod is not recognized when attached to USB by Itunes or MacBook. I downloaded the current version of iTunes with the same results. Please help.

I would try and put the touch into a recovery mode.
    1. Start iTunes
    2. Unplug the touch and try to turn it off (hold the sleep/wake button until you see the red slider and turn it off. This may not work so go to step 3)
    3. Hold down the Home button and, while continuing to hold the button down, plug the touch USB cable back into your computer.
    4. Continue to hold the button down until iTunes responds with "an iPod has been detected in Recovery mode". Follow the onscreen instructions and restore the device.

  • I have had FF 6.0.2 crash my PC (blackscreen, pc is frozen and unresponsive, requires hard reset) several times in the last two weeks. Ironically, it did this very thing while I was registering in order to ask about this.

I also have had FF close and reopen with the little pop-up about restoring or starting a new session.
I have been using FF since v1, and never have I experienced this issue.
I do not know what other information to provide, but if anyone is willing to help, I will provide any necessary details.

Having disabled hardware acceleration (Tools>Options>Advanced>Browsing), I have not had a crash although it has only been two days.
Hopefully this fixes it and it will work for the others who are having the problem.

  • TS3274 when accesssing my gmail through desktop icon, the gmail is frozen and unresponsive to all activity.

How do i unfreese the application from the desktop icon.
If i access gmail through safari it is working

Try closing the Mail app (or third-party email appif that is what you are using) via the taskbar and see if it works when you re-open the app : from the home screen (i.e. not with the email app 'open' on-screen) double-click the home button to bring up the taskbar, then press and hold any of the apps on the taskbar for a couple of seconds or so until they start shaking, then press the '-' in the top left of the email app to close it, and touch any part of the screen above the taskbar so as to stop the shaking and close the taskbar.
If that doesn't work also do a reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.

  • My Droid Maxx is frozen and unresponsive.

I cant even power it down. I keep getting notifications on my lock screen, but when i go to open them i am just taken to the screen that has been frozen for four hours.

    Good deal!
    You're welcome.

  • Dock Becomes frozen and unresponsive

i have no idea how this happens. i usually have dock hiding on and when i went to the dock it wouldnt go up. i turned hiding off and turned it back on and i have tried other varieties of things. help me! what do i do?????

Go to the Applications -> Utilities folder, open 'Activity Monitor', click on 'Dock', and click 'Quit'. Tell it to do a normal 'Quit', not a 'Force Quit'. If it doesn't come back within a few seconds, go ahead and do the 'Force Quit'. That should fix it.
(Note: If you're not 100% sure what you're doing in Activity Monitor, don't go mucking around.)

  • Frozen and unresponsive touchscreen

iPad was working fine. All of a sudden it stopped responding and the touchscreen won't repond. On-screen slider doesnt work either. Tried restarting, charging, and restoring. Fully charged. Screen is active (it shows mail updates that come in), but won't respond to my touch. Sent it to iPad support last week. Came back working fine and with a letter saying that the symptoms were not able to be recreated. Now it is doing it again. Any idea on how to fix this issue? Like I said, its fully charged but I've tried charging, hard restart, and restore via iTunes. Any suggestions would be much appreciated!

If you've already had an issue with this, I'd make an appointment and take it into your local apple store - while it's messed up - so that they can diagnose what's wrong.
It looks like you've tried all the user fixes so it's time for the pros

  • IMovie Frozen and Unresponsive

    Hi,
I started a project and began working on it. Around 2 seconds in, it froze. I restarted iMovie and started over with different clips, but from the same event. (This event was clips off of KeepVid.com from a youtube video of my friend riding her horse. KeepVid usually does not cause problems for me, so I don't think this is why but just so you know) After restarting, iMovie froze again around the same time. It's done this before, and usually making a new project and restarting it works. It didn't work this time, and for three hours new projects, deleting the event, and restarting the computer have not worked. How can i fix this, or do I need to go in to the apple store?
    Thank you very much

  • Ipod touch is frozen and the home/lock button combination does not reset it

The ipod is not responding. I tried holding the lock/home button combo for more than 30 seconds. The screen will go turn all white then all black every five to ten seconds during the reset procedure. I hooked up to the PC and it did sync with computer. Since the display does not work, I cannot do anything else with the ipod. Please save me. My daughter is very upset.
I updated the OS very recently and I am sure it is the latest but I cannot see the ipod. Itunes says it is current though.

When iTunes doesn't recognize the iPod, try disabling a/v software and turning off the Firewall on the PC.
    Disable antivirus software
Turn Windows Firewall on or off
