IPhone glitchy and worsening?

I bought the iPhone 4s around the 17th October. I had no issues until a month after where I noticed there was some glitching here and there, but nothing too noticeable. So I ignored.
It's now becoming impossible at times to even use it.. Often I can't even type because if I press to go back to something, it starts opening everything up, shutting all programs down, or randomly typing on its own. Even to the point now where it crashes for periods of time, and is unusable during this because the entire thing just goes into meltdown. I often can't touch the screen without it doing something, if I try and highlight a word, it completely shuts everything down.. Apps are even worse, it just seemingly cant handle them, often shutting everything down even if I click on something.. It rings and messages contacts seemingly by itself. It's a complete and utter waste. I often have to restart the entire handset just to get it working to a satisfactory level, but even that doesn't always work.
The glitchiness is completely putting me off, and 99% of the time I have a handset I can't use because it's either shutting itself down, freezing/crashing, or the glitchiness makes it impossible to work with.
It's not even 8 months old, and I'm having so many problems! I'm wondering if anyone else has experienced this also?
Would it be worth taking it back to the store I bought it from and having a word to see what can be done?
Thanks!

It has a 1 year warranty. Take it to an Apple store or an authorized Apple dealer for replacement.

  • HT4759 I want to use icloud mail on both iPhone 4s AND my pc. icloud mail on PC is mega glitchy and frustrating because my PC is ancient, I run XP, & these DO NOT MEET req's for iCloud.  Is there a email platform that will run well on both XP and iPhone?

I NEED to use icloud mail on both iPhone 4s AND my PC. I need to use both.
Trying to use icloud mail on PC is mega glitchy (STOP SCRIPT WARNINGS EVERY FEW MINUTES) and frustrating because:
      1.  my PC is ancient (but nicely refurbished/fast)
      2.  I run XP  (with both Firefox and Chrome- newest versions)
      3.  thusly, I DO NOT MEET SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS for iCloud.
In my passed attempts I found that
    1. Yahoo doesn't work well on iPhone
    2. Gmail doesnt work well on iPhone.
I must be missing something... an app or... maybe a donated/ NEW FREE MAC!  (That would be sweet!  Ha.)
Is there an email platform that will run well on both XP and iPhone?
or... Please say it isn't true: I would love a Mac tablet or desktop. We have no money for a mac. SOL?   Is this iCloud apple tech only for wealthy middle class and above who can afford to have the newest and best of everything?

@Naiks, having suffered through unsuccessful synching attempts for Calendar and Contacts myself, l would suggest you try the following:
UNINSTALL iCloud control panel from your PC. Seems silly, but do it.
Go into Outlook, and look at the very top menu. Click FILE, then ACCOUNT SETTINGS, then click the popup box.
You will see a list of all your email accounts. Make sure that ONE of them has a checkmark against it. If not, select the account your want as your default, and click "set as default.
Exit out of Outlook and reboot your machine.
Now reinstall iCloud, check CALENDAR and CONTACTS, and do as instructed when prompted.
Reboot for good luck and now launch OUTLOOK. All that remains is to locate your iCloud Contacts and Calendar files, and make them your default.
IMPORTANT: Don't panic if you can't find your contacts -- they're there. Click CONTACTS and you'll see you have several available contact files. Locate the one label "iCloud" in grey type. Right-click on it, select PROPERTIES, then click the Outlook Address Book tab. Check the box that says something like "Make this my default Outlook Address Book." Keep clicking "apply" and "okay" until you've exited out of the dialog box maze.
You may have to do something similar with your Calendar files. I dd not, but if you need to, do it.
Everything should now sync pretty seamlessly.
I didn't have the exact same problem as you, but my dilemma was close enough. Good luck!

  • Why is my new iPhone 4S and Lion operating system so glitchy and problematic, compared to the 3GS that I had before?

This is the 2nd time in the same day that I've sought out the Apple support communities after never once having to in the 6 years that I've used Apple products. All of my Apple products (iphone 3GS, 2 ipods, an imac with snow leopard, 2 ibooks) has worked very well that I've purchased from Apple until the last two products I've purchased.
Within the last month I've purchased the iphone 4S and upgraded to Lion on my iMac. When I bought the iphone 4S I was shown that there was a new feature, iCloud, loved it! What a great idea for people like me that have multiple Apple products and now that information can be merged together without plugging in a cord!? I upgraded to Lion to have the same capabilities from my imac, to my ipad, to my iphone. The Lion operating system has had more glitches and problems than I could have ever imagined any apple product having (I've already started a discussion on how to get through to Apple that Lion needs to be reworked).
So far I've had nothing but problems with the iphone 4S, (Apps quitting, phone freezing, calls dropping, calls not going through, Bluetooth connection). After contacting support I was told to power off the phone (had already done that), and then to reset the phone (actually very easy with iCloud), but this is not something you should have to do with an Apple product that is a week old. Even after resetting the phone has continued to have the same problems. I'm considering taking it back, but I loved my 3GS so much before, and I'm expecting / hoping an update will come out that fixes all of these problems.
Is anyone having these same problems after upgrading phones?
Has anyone heard of updates coming out?
Is iCloud part of the problems I've been experiencing with my iPhone 4 S and the Lion operating system?
I used to feel that Apple was synonymous with problem free computers and gadgets. I've continued to buy and use so many Apple products because they worked so well with very few problems. Did Apple's ability to make quality products die with the old CEO?

Sounds like the backup of your old phone, which was restored to the new phone, was / is corrupt. Set it up as a new device. Do NOT restore your backup. See how it behaves. I'm will ing to bet the entire problem with the phone has been caused by a corrupted backup that is now affecting your phone. Every time you restore, the problem comes with it.
I've had no problems at all with Lion or my iPhone 4S.

  • Updated Iphone 4 and Itunes 11.. cannot update checked music and apps

    Computer uses Windows 7.
Iphone is a version 4 with IOS 6.0.1 loaded.
Itunes is the latest version of 11.
I noticed my new Ipad mini has no issue with connecting to Itunes and it does read what apps I want removed and added.
The Iphone 4 however is having issues.  I notice that Itunes locks up a lot which could possibly be an issue with the computer but unclear.
I have certain songs checked..when going into the music section prior to connecting the phone.
When the phone is connected I can see the settings for the phone and in the general part I have tried different configurations.. I tried sync checked audio and video only...I have redone it with checking manually control of music/video.
I noticed based on which of those two are checked it will either check or uncheck the actual sync box in the music tab for the phone.  If in the music tab of the phone that is checked....it gives me different things to click like "Band" or "Album" and still disregards any selection I make there and will not change the present music in the phone.
My issue is overall it completely disregarding the audio selections and keeping whatever audio is on the phone where its at.  It will not add the new CDs I purchased to the phone even though they are checked in Itunes.  The apps are not updating either...In the phones app tab it says it will remove apps but does not and will not add other either.
Version 10.7 seemed to be glitchy for me as well...it seemed I had to do 2 syncs to get it to accept my choices but would accept them.
    Am I missing a setting?

After upgrading i06 on iphone 4 and Itunes 11 on pc
Does anyone know how to solve why the apps sync starts installing apps on the IPhone, blue bar gets to mid point for each app (even 1 app) then hangs i.e. fully clears the blue bar as if it hasn't started. Occurs on cable connection and Wifi sync.
This then stops you from installing any apps as the hung app shows installing but not doing anything.
Installing new apps is fine however.
    cheers

  • Movies work in itunes, but videos and movies in safari are glitchy and pixelated?

    Hi all.
everytime i try to watch a movie or video on any website using safari the sound works fine but the picture comes up glitchy and pixelated. i've tried using firefox with no luck.
movies work fine using v.l.c and itunes. Any help would be much apptreciated.

    Now things are getting weird...
All movies I copied successfully play on my iPhone. So I added two more movies to iTunes, same thing had to change the category to "Movies". Now when I sync them they do not show up on my iPhone. OK, so I decided to uncheck the sync movies and remove everything and try from a blank slate. None of the movies I previously copied were removed, I have to physically remove each movie by deleting them from the iPhone.
Ok they are all off the iPhone, and I restarted the IPhone, and iTunes and now none of them will copy to the iPhone, even the ones that previously did copy.
Am going to try and reset the iPhone, again....

  • IMessage on iPad and iPhone Explained and De-Mystified

Apple's much-anticipated iOS5 has a lot of cool features, one of which is the iMessage platform.  What I've discovered is a lot of confusion among the masses on how this platform works.  I, myself, have been confused on how to set this up so that I can maintain iMessage convos on both my iPad2 and iPhone.  Last night, I set out to figure this all out and post my findings here.  What I am about to outline has worked for me and I feel is the way Apple intended it to work.  For good or bad, I don't plan to discuss the merits of how Apple has designed this platform.  I am simply sharing what has worked for me.
In order for me to test my theories I used my iPad 2, iPhone 4S and my wife's iPad and iPhone 4.  This allowed me to test the iMessage platform as if I were messaging one of my contacts who I know had installed iOS5 but theoretically doesn't live under my roof, so to speak.  My example will center around my particular situation:  someone who has both an iPad (or other non-iPhone device) and an iPhone 4S (or 4 or 3GS) AND wants to keep iMessage convos in sync across all my devices.  After all, this is one of the main benefits of iMessage that Apple touts.
First and foremost, it is important to activate iMessage on all your iOS5 devices using the same Apple ID.  This will "link" all your iOS5 devices in the Apple ecosystem and keep convos you initiate in sync across your iOS5 devices.  Some of you may run into a situation like I did where our PRIMARY Apple ID is the one we use as a family to purchase music, apps, etc.  In the case of iMessage, every family member should have their own unique Apple ID (a secondary ID to your primary ID) to use on their own iOS5 devices.  This will keep all your iMessages separate and distinct from other family members' iMessage convos.  The next important setting, and the one that causes a lot of confusion, is the "Receive At" setting.  On your iPhone this is your cell phone number, by default.  You will also want to add an e-mail address as another "Receive At" location.  If you have an iPad or other non-iPhone iOS5 device, you will want to choose an e-mail address (on my devices my Apple ID is the same as my e-mail address I am using on the "Receive At" setting) as your "Receive At" setting.  The important thing to note is that if you have both an iPhone and iPad (or any other non-iPhone device) you will want to use the same e-mail address on both devices.  This will help keep your convos that others have initiated to you in sync across your iOS5 devices.  Finally, the Caller ID is the next setting to consider.  You have two options here:  (1) your cell number, or (2) the e-mail address you entered in the step above.  Your choice depends on how you want others to see your contact info and whether or not keeping convos in sync across your iOS5 devices is important.  My example below will illustrate this.
    EXAMPLE:
Keeping messages in sync across my devices is important so I have provided my Apple ID that I used above to all my contacts who use iOS5 devices and I have asked them to use this to iMessage me.  This is the only way that an iMessage convo initiated by one of your contacts to you will stay in sync across all your iOS5 devices.  If they use your cell number, then the iMessage convo will only show up on your iPhone.  Even though the Apple ID you used to activate iMessage in the Apple ecosystem links your devices, a reply from your iPhone to an iMessage sent only to your cell phone will not "push" the reply to your non-iPhone device.  Long story short, give all your iOS5 contacts the e-mail address you entered above in the "Receive At" setting and all your convos will stay in sync.  This is very similar to the BlackBerry Messenger protocol and the PIN that BBM users need to provide other BBM users so they can message each other.
I commandeered my wife's iPad and iPhone and began sending iMessages back and forth between my and her devices.  Step 1, I sent an iMessage from my iPad 2 to her cell number.  Because I initiated the iMessage to my wife and my devices were both activated in the Apple ecosystem using my Apple ID, the convo appeared on both my iPad and iPhone but she received my iMessage on her iPhone but NOT her iPad.  This is because her iPad is connected to the iMessage platform through her "Receive At" email address; there is no "link" between her iPhone cell number and her iPad.  When she responded to my iMessage, the convo continued to appear only on her iPhone but appears on both my iPad 2 and iPhone.  Step 2, I sent her an iMessage to her "Receive At" email address and she received the message on both her devices.  As in the first scenario, the convo appears on both of my devices.  At this point, because I used her "Receive At" email address, the convo is in sync on both of her devices.  Here is an important tip:  when you type in a contact name on the "To:" line of an iMessage, their available iMessage "Receive At" email addresses and cell phone number will appear with a little blue balloon next to them.  The opposite of the above occurred when my wife initiated the iMessages to me as described in Step 1 and Step 2.
    In summary:
First, make sure you activate iMessage on all your devices using your unique Apple ID.  This links your devices in the Apple iMessage ecosystem.  Second, choose a "Receive At" email address that you can provide to your contacts that use iOS5 so that convos that they initiate to you will be in sync across your iOS5 devices.  Lastly, I recommend setting your Caller ID to your "Receive At" email address.  This will prompt any users that don't have your "Receive At" email address to add it to their contacts.  It may go without saying, but if your iOS5 contacts have multiple iOS5 devices and they are interested in keeping their convos in sync across their devices they will have to provide you their "Receive At" email address as their preferred iMessage contact.
    Hope this helps.

Thanks for this write up, it's very helpful and thorough!
I have a couple questions, maybe you could clear them up.
    You write:
"If you have an iPad or other non-iPhone iOS5 device, you will want to choose an e-mail address (on my devices my Apple ID is the same as my e-mail address I am using on the "Receive At" setting) as your "Receive At" setting."
How important would you say this part I've bolded is?  For example, if my Apple ID is "Tooth" but my "Receive At" setting is "[email protected]," I'll still be able to sync the messages, correct?  The part that is tricky is with the iPhone, where your defaul "Receive At" setting will be the phone number, despite the iPhone also being registered with the same Apple ID.
    Next, you say:
"Lastly, I recommend setting your Caller ID to your "Receive At" email address.  This will prompt any users that don't have your "Receive At" email address to add it to their contacts."
What exactly do you mean by your Caller ID here?  Do you mean the contact card that I have for myself, in my contacts app?
Thanks so much for posting this.

I have one apple ID for both my Iphone 4S and Ipad. My Ipad was stolen from me and when I checked the iCloud, it can only locate the Iphone 4S. How can I locate the Ipad device?

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
You can only locate your device when it is logged into iCloud and 'Find My Phone' is enabled, additionally the device will need to be switched on and connected to a wifi or cellular network.
Unfortunately, you cannot activate iCloud or 'Find My Phone' remotely.

Hoping for some help with a very frustrating issue!
I have been syncing calendar and contacts on my iPhone 5 and Outlook 2007 using iCloud  2.1.3 (my PC is running Vista). All was well until the events I entered on the phone were showing up in Outlook, but not the other way around. I’ve tried the usual recommended steps: deselecting calendar and contacts in the iCloud control panel and then re-selecting, signing out of the panel and back in, and repairing the Outlook installation in control panel.  I even uninstalled iCloud on the PC and downloaded it again (same version).
The furthest I’ve gotten is step 2 (and once, step 3) of 7 while performing “Outlook Setup For iCloud.” At that point I get, “Your setup couldn’t be started because of an unexpected error.”  After the first attempt at all this, all my calendar events disappeared from Outlook, although they are still in iCloud calendar and on my phone.
Sound familiar?  Any ideas on how to solve this iCloud/Outlook issue?  Thanks much in advance!

  • I recently upgraded iTunes to 11.1.4.62 and then itunes would no longer recognize my iphone 4s and iPod

I recently upgraded iTunes to 11.1.4.62 and then itunes would no longer recognize my iphone 4s and iPod although I can see the iphone but NOT the iPod on the computer (windows 8.1 Pro).  I checked everything , cable, services, stop and start and automatice, etc.and went through all the steps on the apple support site, to include removing all apple software in the designated order and reinstalling it.  iTunes still doesn't see the iphone.
The Apple iPhone shows up only under protable Devices in the Device Manager window and has a Yellow ! warning triangle, and there is no Apple USB controller in the devices menu.under Universal Serial Bus Controllers. When I look under the properties of the Apple iphone, it says in Device Status, to reinstall the drivers for this device (Code 18).
When I do this,  I get the following: "Windows found driver softweare for you device but encountered an error when attempting to install it" Apple Mobile Device Driver One of the installers for th this device cannot perform the installation at this time. I tried both suggested locations on the C: drive.
Also I can't seem to find out how to install the Apple USB Contoller or is that related to the problem above?
The iphone and my ipod work fine with this version of itunes on Windows 7 on my laptop.  is it possible that I am missing a critical update from Microsoft on the driver and USB controller?  I have been leery of installing them since my computer had problems with some updates in January.
I 've tried every thing listed in this forum, I think, and the Apple support page on this subject.  Please help!

Version 11.1.5.5 of iTunes was just released today. If you update to that, does that help with the recognition troubles?

Are you using the original cable that came with Nano and not your iPhone's cable?  Have you worked through the troubleshooting in this Apple support document?

  • My iphone 4s and ipad 2 both with 7.0.4 update will no longer connect to wifi but non-mac lap top has no issues

my iphone 4s and ipad2 both with 7.0.4 update will no longer connect to wifi.
About three days ago the ability to connect came and went and the connection never lasted more than 10-15 minutes; it has not been able to connect since last night. I do not think it's my wifi router as non-mac lap top has no issues. I have seem many similar questions posted.

Reboot your router by removing all power from it for about 15 seconds. Also, if your router still has its default SSID (such as LINKSYS, DLINK, NETGEAR, etc) change the SSID to something unique. Note that all other devices on your network will have to be reconnected if you change the name, but if the name is still the default that is most likely your problem.
If the SSID is not the default then the reboot should fix it.

I've just updated my iPhone to the new iPhone OS and now it won't work and iTunes won't recognise that it's there.  I've uninstalled iTunes and reinstalled twice and it's not working.  Please help.

I have not had wifi since November when I upgraded to the newest IOS version.  I called the Apple help line and they told me some things to do and I tried them all and they worked for a few hours and then wifi shut off again.  I kept doing what they told me and it worked for a couple more days and then I could never turn it on again.  My blue tooth doesn't work either.  I had to actually increase my data usage with AT&T becuase of this.  When I did that in December I went to the Apple store and was told that it is a hardware issue and since my phone is out of warranty I would have to pay for a new phone because they could not fix the issue.  My upgrade isn't up until June 2014 so not only do I have to wait for the upgrade and I am not paying for a new phone but I have to pay $10 plus extra a month on my cell phone bill because I was going over on my Data!!!  I have been beyond upset about this and Apple is not doing anything about this nor did they offer up some way to resolve the issue because obviously it is not just some rare incident if several people are having this issue.  Who knows how many people out there have had this issue and have not said anything about it.  Now there is a newer update that I can't do because it requires wifi in order to download.
June can not get here fast enough and I may not go back to Iphone after dealing with this for so long with no help from Apple.

  • My iPad has been stolen, I need some help with the Find my iPhone app and iCloud please

Hello people.  I have (had) an iPad 1 (wifi only) - which was stolen two days ago.  It's locked with a passcode but I am worried that someone will be able to get into it.  I've got the Find app installed on my iPhone 4S and it shows that both my iPad and stolen iPod are offline.
Q - if either the iPad or the iPod goes into an unlocked wifi area, will I be notified on my phone?
Q - can anyone actually break into my iPad as it is locked?
Q - how does iCloud work in terms of the info that's on my iPad - photos etc that I don't want to lose?
Q - I've reported this to the police - does Apple need to know?
I'd be very grateful for any advice, many thanks in advance
