IPhone gmail contacts not deleting.

Hi I'm having a problem with my gmail account on my iPhone 3Gs. Whenever I try to send a friend an email I start by typing "Me" and a contact named Megan comes up. I deleted Megan from my phone and my gmail contacts (and all of her email just in case it was causing the issue) but no matter what Megan still comes up. There is no trace of Megan in my phone or on my gmail contact list but I can't get her out of the "to:" box in gmail on my phone.
Any tips? It is driving me nuts!

I am having the same problems as this person. I see that someone said there is no way to retrieve the pictures once it gets stuck in recovery mode.
Then further along someone said that there are data retrieval methods except they have something to do with jail breaking a phone.
My phone is already jail broken. It was kind of a gift from the company I work for- it was a fellow employees before. He jail broke it and then it was given to me. After I got it I activated the 4 and tried to back up everything. It didn't work and "Springboard" forced the phone into safety mode. So I could use it with the old dude's apps and my contacts. I made the mistake of using the phone for wedding dress shopping with a friend. I took tons of pictures.
After this I found out the messages I was seeing meant it was jail broken. At&t said to force restore the phone - iTunes wouldn't recognize it in safety mode. I'm an idiot and didn't realize what this meant for my pictures. It didn't work (error 1611) - thankfully. Now it is stuck in recovery mode (iTunes icon and USB cable picture).
Can I access that media in any way? It never suceeded restoring itself so is it still there? The phone is jail broken already so is there a method I can use?

My Iphone 4s is not deleting phone numbers permanently. I will go in to delete them, however, the phone still has them saved. I can see this when I go to text people. What do I need to do to turn this off? I'm sure it is simple.

Deleting iphone email does not delete from computer

I am sure I must be missing something simple here....When I delete email from my iphone, it does not delete from my computer (either remotely or by syncing). So when I delete a bunch of emails, the very next time I open iphone email, it retrieves the very same emails just deleted....a viscious cycle. Can anyone assist with what must be a simple setting issue? Thank you.

When .Mac is configured using the .Mac option on the
iPhone it is always configured as IMAP. For that
account, on your computer are you checking the
messages via POP3, and on your computer, which
program are you using to check those messages?
.MAC Account - Home Computer: Under Mail/Preferences/Accounts it lists the Comcast account (from our ISP) as a POP and the .Mac account as ".Mac". I access mail thru Mac Mail Application and sometimes thru .mac thru the internet. Update on this account- I cleared the inbox and tried another test. Now it seems to be working. I delete a message from iphone and it will automatically delete from my home computer Mail App. and eventually it will be deleted from the .mac server when accessed thru the internet (these take much longer however). In any event it seem this account works now.
Work Account:
As for your work account, when looking at the
settings, it should say POP3, IMAP and Exchange at
the top. The button that is "pushed" is the one that
account is using. The outgoing server should
probably be smtp.comcast.net not smpt. Is that
account using IMAP, POP3, or Exchange?
I know these three options were there when the IT person set it up but now when I access this account in my iphone it does not tell me what was selected (IMAP,POP, or Exchange) under account information??? It seems to appear only when setting up a new account. Am I missing something?
Also that was a typo. Outgoing server is listed as "smtp.comcast.net"
So to give you as much info as I have:
Incoming Mail Server is "Mail.(officeservername).com" and Outgoing is "smtp.comcast.net". (Using my Comcast ISP was the only way the IT person could get the email access from Iphone to work). And to calrify what is happening on the iphone:
1.Email is accessed no problem from iphone, - downloading all new message from my work outlook works fine.
2.When I delete messages on my iphone, however, it does not delete on my office computer which is on a server network. (Visa Versa does work - when I delete a message on my computer it will delete it on my iphone.
3.NOTE : Contrary to what I posted earlier my iphone now is NOT "RELOADING" messages just deleted from Iphone but which remain on my office computer. This means half the problem is solved.
4. THE ONLY THING LEFT TO FIGURE OUT IS HOW DO I CONFIGURE SO WHEN I DELETE A MESSAGE ON MY IPHONE I AM DELETING ALSO FROM MY Computer at work?
(BTW in the above description I am referring to all wireless operation...not when syncing with iphone)

Deleting emails from Gmail does not delete them from BB

HI,
Just bought a brand new BB 8830 World Edition and using Gmail. Deleting emails from the BB works just fine and Gmail is being updated. But deleting emails from Gmail does not delete the corresponding email from the BB.
On the BB, there is an option "Mailbox and Handheld" that works just fine but there is no such thing on the Gmail options.
Is this a bug or a normal way of doing things? It would be quite abnormal to having to manually delete your emails on the BB that have already been deleted on Gmail; it's just deleting twice the same email.
I would be grateful to anyone who can provide an answer.

You can delete mails from your handheld as well as from Gmail server which I guess solve the issue for you. To be able to do so check the following options -

Options
Email Reconciliation
Deelete On: Mailbox & handheld
In place of Mailbox & handheld you also select Deelete On: Prompt. This is will give prompt wheneve you'll delete any mail and give you options what to do.

Iphone 4s contacts are deleting by itself

Hi my mom has an iphone 4s. she complains that her iphone 4s has been deleting all the contacts by itself. She has poor computer skills so she didnt have a back up on icloud or itunes. I NEED help

So playing around with the phone this morning, I came to the same conclusion. If I use my fingernail and press down on the top of the volume-up button, it takes off. Note that I am pressing on the tiny little edge of the button, not the big flat part. When the volume starts to take off, I can press the bottom of the volume-up button and it immediately stops.
Looks like I need a new phone. I am hoping it will not be a refurb so soon in the release cycle.

IPhone Gmail Issue With Deleting From iPhone

When I delete an email on my iPhone it disappears from my Gmail inbox but is still searchable and not deleted permanently from Gmail. Any ideas on how to permanently delete it from GMail from the iPhone?

Contacts not deleting -- how to erase?

There are about 1000 contacts on my iPhone that won't delete no matter what I do. Some are duplicates of contacts I have, others are contacts I've deleted from my Address Book -- but they persist on the iPhone.
I've restored the iPhone software several times; synced with my Address Book empty and set to replace Contacts on the iPhone; even set up the iPhone as a new iPhone after a software restore; but the contacts won't erase...
Any idea how to get rid of them?
(Have latest iTunes, all MacOS System Updates, iPhone 1.0.1 software all installed)

Your profile says the computer is running Mac OS, Resetting the Sync History from iSync may resolve the issue.
From the /Applications folder>Launch iSync>Prefrences>Reset Sync History.

I frequently have emails that I delete on my mac but are not deleted from the iPhone/iPad (this is for an iCloud account, @mac.com). In time they eventually delete, but it can take time. I usuall delete them from the devices as well.

Deleted email from my iphone it does not delete from Outlook 2007

My friend has an iphone 3GS and when she deletes email from the phone it does not delete from her Outlook 2007 account. She has to manually delete it. Outlook2007 is setup to permanantely delete from the server. Any suggestions? Thank you.

Tell your friend to get an IMAP or Exchange mail account. From what you describe, your friend has a POP account, and that's the way POP accounts work.

Gmail contacts not synchronizing

I have just noticed that my Gmail contacts are not Synchronizing.
I have checked the account and the Contacts is selected to Sync
Having checked my blackberry 9800 and gmail account I have contacts in both that are not syncing, Email and calendar are working perfectly

Did you ever find any assistance on this issue? I have a similar issue as of the past two weeks and have attempted to resolve it differing ways but nothing seems to restart the synchronization of the contacts again?
I would be appreciative, if you see this note, if you let me know what you found for a solution.

GMail not deleting / gmail contacts not synchronizing

I've got GMail configured to use exchange on my iPad. Starting yesterday, I've started having problems deleting email. When I attempted to delete an email, I'd get an error stating that the message "couldn't be moved to the trash". So I deleted and recreated the account, and now the error still occurs intermittently, and my contacts won't download - but I can query against my gmail address book.
Any suggestions?

Verizon Iphone - GMAIL FETCH NOT WORKING

Like everyone else I just switched from AT&T to Verizon on both my and my wifes I4's and we absolutly love the service...however I've found a problem.
GMAIL FETCH doesn't work period. The only way I can pull new mail is to manually open the mail program and refresh by tabbing to each of my folders I have setup for my pop/imap mail accounts within GMAIL.
(if you don't understand how to integrate pop/imap with gmail please do not respond to this thread)
Anyway, no matter what interval I set my fetches to it never fetches... I've deleted my GMAIL account from my phone and re-installed but not luck. I've read several posts referring to PUSH not working on the Verizon iPhone and a few people commented the FETCH isn't working for them either and I thought we should have a seperate thread for this issue.

hmm...well i deleted the gmail account for a second time and it appears to be working on a 15 min fetch...
i'll test for the rest of the day and post results but this may have fixed it.
