Iphone had a chip turned into huge crack and now doesnt work?
I got the phone in December, and noticed a a small barely noticable chip right next to the center puch button and that chip soon fell out causing more and one day after skiing i touched the chip and the crack spined out. I reported this to apple and they took my case and sent a picture of the crack and they replied that it was self damaged. But now my screen wont even come up it black, trying to turn it off, hitting the center button, but none of that worked. Then I recieved a phone call and it vibrated but still a black screen, right after the call the screen showed up and then and i unlocked it but then the touch didnt work at all couldnt open up and applications, then it went black again and still wont come up. what should i do??
Hind sight is 20-20 but you should have contacted AppleCare about this barely noticeable chip right away since your iPhone would have been exchanged under warranty but apparently now this is too late since there it is difficult to determine if the resulting crack was caused due to this barely noticeable chip or due to accidental damage.
Apple will "repair" your iPhone for $249 which will be an exchange as if exchanged under warranty. Expensive but cheaper than paying full retail.

Hi,
have a deadline for a client tomorrow, all the work is on my macbook whos battery is flat. I was charging from a low battery whist working today and suddenly a loud crack occured on my '60W Mag safe power adapter' and the orange charging staus disappeared. Now nothing at all, I havnt been able to back the work up for use on another mac because of the minimal battery life that was left.
Does anyone know of the problem or even a soloution.
In despiration I went to a local PC outlet who dealed in some macs, asked if i could borrow one of their 'on show power supplies' plugged it an and it worked fine ans started charging.
This is despiration, sorry
thanks in advanceAt the risk of posting the obvious, it seems your power adapter is shot, and you need a new one. If you are still under warranty or have AppleCare, call them. Else, buy one.
The only fix you might try is an SMC reset, but if the MB worked with a borrowed power adapter, I really, really doubt that will help.
Hope this helps... -
I turned my iphone off when visiting the doctor's surgery and now it won't turn back on. It had 73% battery left and I have tried connecting it to my computer with USB but nothing happens. I have taken out and replaced the sim card too. Any suggestions
If wjosten's tip doesn't work try plugging it into a USB charger (not through your computer), wait about 30 seconds and it should come on. If it doesn't remove the cord from the phone and keep trying this. I've had this same issue and found a combination of the reset & charging cable tends to work. Sometimes it takes about 5 minutes for the phone to respond.
Best of luck. -
Re: i was charging my iphone 3GS yesterday in electricity when once it turned off suddenly while it was in quarter battery. I tried charging it again but it didint open, i tried to plug it into my laptop but itunes didnt recognize it and it doesnt work.
Hello candymerna,
At this point I would recommeng resetting the device if if will not turn on.
Resetting your device
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button together for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
From: iPhone, iPad, iPod touch: Turning off and on (restarting) and resetting

If it does turn on, but will not charge then take a look at this part of the article iPhone: Hardware troubleshooting found http://support.apple.com/kb/ts2802
Power/Battery
Battery does not charge from the USB power adapter
Important: Only original iPhone can be charged from a FireWire-based power source. If iPhone is connected to a computer that's turned off or is in sleep or standby mode, the battery may drain.
Verify that the outlet being used is working.
Try another USB power adapter if available.
If no other USB power adapter is available, try connecting to a high-power USB 2.0 port (not a keyboard). The computer must be turned on and not in sleep or standby mode.
Try another USB cable if available.
Also refer to iPhone and iPod touch: Charging the battery.
If it is charging, but not recognized in iTunes take a look at one of these articles depending on your Operating System.

Today I was shopping and I went to check the time on my Iphone but it had shut itself off for no reason and now it won't turn back on. What should I do?
It could have powered off. Try holding the sleep button down for a few seconds until the apple logo appears to restart it

If you try all these Steps and you still have issues... Then a Visit to an Apple Store or AASP (Authorized Apple Service Provider) is the Next Step... Be sure to make an appointment first... -

I recently upgraded toSnow Leopard, after that I was given a continual message that I had to reinstall my Internet Cleanup. So I did. Then I turned my computer off and now it will not turn on at all. Help!
See if your Mac will boot from the install DVD.
Then uninstall Internet Cleanup.

I have an iPhone 4 thats i was trying to fix and now it will not turn on at all is there anyway that i can access my pictures and contacts from my new phone or pc? Aslo the are both on the same apple id but i dont know if that would help or not.
Contacts are designed to be synced to a supported application on the computer or a cloud service.
Pictures taken with the device are designed to regularly be copied off the device to a computer as would be done with any digital camera.
If you have failed to use the device as designed it may be too late to recovery anything.
Is the device regularly backed up to a computer via iTunes? If so, the most recent backup (when restored to a replacement iOS device) should contain all contacts and pictures as of when the backup was created. -
I have an ipod classic 120 gb. I had it set up so that I manually sync and manage my music. Twice I have had my ipod plugged into my mac and it had erased everything on my ipod. All the music on my itunes was still in my library, but all the other music was lost. I understand that I need to go back to the other libraries I got that music from, but how do I make sure that my ipod doesn't keep syncing and erasing itself? Also, now every five minutes a message will pop up on my itunes saying that it cannot sync because of an unknown error and then it has the number 13014. I have no idea what that is about. Does anyone else go through this? How do I fix it?
Well the iPod is supposed to be synced from YOUR iTunes music library, if you used other means to put music on there then the iPod is going to sync to only what's on your itunes music library when you connect it.
You need to put the files into itunes.
Far as your other issues, sounds like the drive is dying.

Any third-party software that doesn't install by drag-and-drop into the Applications folder, and uninstall by drag-and-drop to the Trash, is a system modification.
Whenever you remove system modifications, they must be removed completely, and the only way to do that is to use the uninstallation tool, if any, provided by the developers, or to follow their instructions. If the software has been incompletely removed, you may have to re-download or even reinstall it in order to finish the job.
I never install system modifications myself, and except as stated in this comment, I don't know how to uninstall them. You'll have to do your own research to find that information.
Here are some general guidelines to get you started. Suppose you want to remove something called “BrickMyMac” (a hypothetical example.) First, consult the product's Help menu, if there is one, for instructions. Finding none there, look on the developer's website, say www.brickmymac.com. (That may not be the actual name of the site; if necessary, search the Web for the product name.) If you don’t find anything on the website or in your search, contact the developer. While you're waiting for a response, download BrickMyMac.dmg and open it. There may be an application in there such as “Uninstall BrickMyMac.” If not, open “BrickMyMac.pkg” and look for an Uninstall button. The uninstaller might also be accessed by clicking the Customize button, if there is one.
Back up all data before making any changes.
You will generally have to restart the computer in order to complete an uninstallation. Until you do that, there may be no effect, or unpredictable effects.
If you can’t remove software in any other way, you’ll have to erase and install OS X. Never install any third-party software unless you're sure you know how to uninstall it; otherwise you may create problems that are very hard to solve.
Trying to remove complex system modifications by hunting for files by name often will not work and may make the problem worse. The same goes for "utilities" such as "AppCleaner" and the like that purport to remove software.
