Iphone hard drive to computer (click n drag) videos/photos

I transferred videos/photos from iphone 5 hard drive into external hard drive using the folders that pop up when I plug my iphone into my PC (there was 2 folders in iphone) and it worked fine. I wanted to transfer some of those videos back into my iphone but it wouldn't let me click and drag into the same folder. I don't want to use itunes or anything, I'd like to click and drag ... is there anyway possible I can do this? Thanks in advance for any help!

ok - my mistake in mentioning hard drive. when i plug in the iphone i am able to open the files that are in the iphone (aka. where the "hard drive" comes in). the files that are in there are pictures and videos from your phone. to make room on the iphone i copied and pasted all of these photos/videos onto my external hard drive and deleted them from my iphone. i wanted to put some of them back in there (all videos) but it would not let me click and drag them into the iphoen folder. and sorry, the iphone itself is a hard drive.

I am trying to move photos from my laptop to my iphone.  I have tried clicking and dragging individual photos from my picture library to the iphone but l receive a message saying my iphone is not responding.
I have tried syncing via itunes but when l want to sync a further folder it replaces the one which as already been synced?
    Any ideas?

There has never been a function to copy anything from an iPhone and paste it to a computer.
All of your media should be in iTunes already.
If it is not and was purchased from iTunes, right click on the device and select Transfer Purchases.

  • Dual G5 2.0 hard drive makes loud clicking noises after installing Leopard

I installed Leopard on my Dual G5 2.0, did a clean install. Worked fine for a couple of days but now it is unusable, the hard drive makes loud clicking noises and the computer slows down, can't even properly shut it down. All worked perfectly with Tiger installed.
    Does anyone have any suggestions?
    Thanks and happy new year!

Ha... "Cheers" is not convincing coming from an angry man like you.
In English PC stands for Personal Computer:
    http://dictionary.reference.com/search?q=personal%20computer
    and
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Personal_computer
So a Mac and a Windows Machine can both be a PC. In fact I believe Apple coined the phrase PC, but I could be wrong.
I've been using Mac for 20 years, never had any issues. However my windows machines are very inefficient, it's difficult to get them to work with a printer, much less any of the multi media apps and equipment I use. My windows Machines are useful to me as test boxes and running some apps I don't have on my Macs. Sure Office works great on them, but I don't do spread sheets and such for a living.
I'm sorry that you are having bad luck, or are you making this up? You are a apple rep? Do they know that you are posting on the Apple site and advising users to buy a PC, hmm George Lelapinou the French Apple hater?
So, sorry old comrade but PC stands for personal computer, not Microsoft, and my PC is working 100% now, as my Macs always do, it appears it just needed to be cleaned. Now if only my crappy Peugeot would work after getting cleaned... I joke, I kid, iJoke.

Okay, so, fast forward from July to now -
    - I've visited my closest Apple store's genius bar twice now. (Over an hour and a half away.)
    - My computer spent at least 8 hours behind their closed doors in the workshop
    - Several complete erases of the harddrive have taken place
    - Most of the Apple geniuses I dealt with were nice and very knowledgeable, but they were and still aren't 100% sure exactly what is wrong with my computer.
    The good news is:
    - They were able to at least get it running again, with a clean install from their servers of OS X Lion 10.7.5
    - They believe that my problems stem from either 1 of 2 things:
            - Faulty Hard Drive (even though it is brand new)
             - The wrong build of software being installed.
Now, while the wrong build does seem like it could be the problem, it doesn't make sense in the aspect that all of the initial problems began when the first hard drive failed. The same problems continued when I changed out the failed hard drive with the brand spanking new one, and only slightly improved when I was able to successfully install the OS that came with the original disks for my computer. I'm not convinced this thing is back to normal, but hopefully I can make it last through getting a shiny new retina Macbook Pro in the coming future. Thank you so much to everyone who read and replied to this post!

  • HT4528 how can you recover deleted photos from the iPhone hard drive?

Is there anyway possible i can recover my deleted photos from my iphone hard drive for free?

You can't for two reasons: First, the iPhone doesn't have a hard drive. Second, there is no Trash folder, so once something is deleted it is gone forever. If you were foresighted enough to sync your phone regularly the photos should still be in the app you used for managing photos from digital cameras on your computer, and they are also in the iPhone backup on your computer. If you enabled Photo Stream they are also in iCloud. But if you didn't take advantage of any of these backup options you are out of luck.

Thanks for that, it was really helpful.
Glad to hear that worked for you. While formatting an external drive with a Mac format is best if it will be used only with a Mac, if the files on the drive have to be accessible to a PC also, it's possible to format it in an exFAT format, which both the Mac and a PC can read from and write to. However, if you do that, do the actual formatting while the external is connected to the PC.

  • Is the iPhone hard drive encrypted?

Recently my iPhone 5 was stolen, and so I started wondering about some questions. Luckily it managed to be reconnected to an internet connection and it was erased through iCloud.
My question is, does anyone know if the iPhone hard drive is encrypted? Let's say the phone never made it to a connection and therefore didn't receive the command for a swipe. Could a thief plug in the iphone and access the data on it, or extract the hard drive and get access to it? Or is the data on the iphone encrypted?
    Thanks!

The flash memory is soldered onto the main board (not socketed).  This means that the probability of success in extracting the chip and re-assembling it to a carrier that could be read on a PC is rather low.  Certainly some government agencies would have the ability to do this, but not the average criminal.  The cost is much too high for even normal identity theft.  Couple that with the memory encryption and you are safe from all but the most persistent prying eyes (NSA, CIA,..._

  • Transferring Lightroom 4 from Hard Drive to Computer

When I initially downloaded Lightroom 4 my desktop could not handle the amount of space the program/library took up so I began running Lightroom from an external hard drive. However, I now have a laptop that can handle running Lightroom.
Upon trying to copy/paste all of the Lightroom files from the external hard drive onto my laptop, my Lightroom library now says that all of the photos are "missing".
Ideally, I'd like to have my Lightroom software and library running from my laptop because I am in need of a larger external hard drive to hold all of my exported photos.
    Any help is appreciated! Thanks!

how do i get them on my new mac now?
Be careful, when you connect the iPhone to your mac, unless you have saved the photos. Synced photos may easily  be accidentally deleted by syncing again. And do not enable iCloud Photo  Library (Beta), that will erase synced photos as well.  Synced Photos are not included in the device backups.
Set your iTunes Preferences to "Devices > Prevent iPos, iPhones, iPads from syncing automatically".  Otherwise iTunes may launch and sync your iPhone with an empty iPhoto library the moment you connect it.
Unfortunately, it is not possible to sync the synced photos back. Apple recommends to mail them back, but that would be a lot of clicking (iTunes: Syncing photos - Apple Support). You could also share them to a Shared Album, but a third party app like TD recommended, will be better.

Make sure the drive is formatted Mac OS Extended (Journaled)
    1. Quit iPhoto
    2. Copy the iPhoto Library from your Pictures Folder to the External Disk.
    3. Hold down the option (or alt) key while launching iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Choose Library' and navigate to the new location. From that point on this will be the default location of your library.
    4. Test the library and when you're sure all is well, trash the one on your internal HD to free up space.

  • Use iPhone 4 to play iTunes library from an external hard drive without computer

    Hello all-
I use iTunes for playback of my music library.  My library is too large to be stored locally on my MBP so I use an external hard drive.  I was wondering if anyone knew of a way to use / setup an iPhone 4 to be able to read the iTunes library files and access the music stored on the external hard disc for playback WITHOUT the use of my MBP or any other computer.  I may be asking too much but essentially it is just code that is written into iTunes that allows this to happen, between computer and external hard drive as well as iPod and it's hard disk.  Of course I would need to be able to connect my iPhone to the external hard drive.  I figure the dock to usb cable would suffice.
    Any help is appreciated!

thanks for the quick reply!  I was hoping to not only access the individual files, but use an actual user interface that could read the iTunes library files that I already have created via iTunes on my MBP, and provide me with an iTunes like playback experience, similar to how the Remote app works or the iPod app.  Thanks though, I might use NetPortal for other applications though.
