IPhone has phantom contacts

I have my mother in my Contacts by her name, but if I go to make a text message and type the recipient as 'Mam' it see's that as a genuine contact. I have no contact named 'Mam' and I do not recognise the number associated with, it appears to be a valid UK number from the format but this number doesn't exist in my contact list. The iPhone has just pulled it from the aether by the look of it.
Additionally I cannot FaceTime my mother using her Contact entry, it rings but not a single device she owns will receive my FaceTime. I have no idea what number FaceTime is dialling because it is displaying her name and there is no FaceTime entry in Contacts after pressing Edit.
Aone nyone got any ideas?

You're the original owner of the iPhone? I th ink you need to restore your iPhone to see whether the contact still exist or not. As for you can't Facetime with your mother, please check out the troubleshooting guide: If you can't make or receive FaceTime calls - Apple Support
