IPhone Headphones?

Has anyone else had issues with the headphones that came with the iphone--they dont fit right in my ears and are very loose. Are there alternative headphones out there that will fit without the adapter and preferably with the integrated mic? If there isnt I hope a third party vendor comes out with something cause the ones that come with the iphone dont fit my ears right.
Thanks,
Nathan

Yes, we have hundreds of threads on this a search will bring up.
You can use any headphones with the iPhone with an adapter if necessary (due to the recessed opening) but you will not have the microphones and click control.
Your cheapest option is to get a pair of Griffin earjams which clip onto the front of your iPhone headphones and have three different sizes of earbuds.
You can get the Shure iPhone adapter which will allow you to use any headphones with a microphone.
You can get a pair of V-Moda Duo iPHone headphones which come with a microphone but no click control.
You can go to everythingiphone.com and do a search for headphones and you will find someone who will (for a charge) take any earbuds off any headphone and adapt them to your iPhone headphones by cutting the iPhone ones off and welding on your personal headphone earbuds.
A search will also bring up other options here in this forum.

  • My iphone headphones don't work in my ipad mini

I can't seem to get music to play through my iphone headphones when they are plugged into my ipad mini? Any suggestions?

Plug them all the way in, firmly push the plug until it is fully seated.
If you have a case, make sure it's not interfering with the plug.

  • IPhone headphones no longer control iTunes after 10.5.6 update

I just purchased my new MacBook Pro yesterday; happy to find out I could use the "clicker" on my iPhone headphones to control my iTunes. The machine came stocked with a version of Leopard before 10.5.6, so The Updater prompted me to update. After the update I was very disappointed to find out that my "clicker" no longer was capable of controlling my iTunes.
Has anyone else noticed this anomaly?

Hello and Welcome to Apple Discussions ..
According to VersionTracker, Clicker operating system requirements are:
    Operating System Requirements:
This product is designed to run on the following operating systems:
    Mac OS X 10.4 Intel
    Mac OS X 10.4 PPC
    Mac OS X 10.3.9
    Mac OS X 10.3

Apparently not compatible with Leopard yet.

  • No sound when plugging iPhone Headphones into 2009 13" Macbook Pro

If I visit the Preferences -> Sound configuration, in the Input tab is shows the microphone activity when I talk into the microphone portion of the ear buds. But there is no sound when playing music. Under both sections, Use audio port for: Headphones with Built-in External Mic.
It seems like it knows what I plugged in and seams to want to use it correctly, but I just get no sound. I've tried these ear buds in my iPhone and the sound comes out of the ear buds just fine.
I've tried another set of ear buds that don't have a mic built in, and those produce sound when plugged into the Macbook Pro and the "Use audio port for" is set to "Sound Output." This seems to be a problem with the earbuds that come with the new iPhones. They are the ear buds that also have a microphone in-line.
Is anyone else experiencing this issue? I'd really appreciate any help. I've played around with some setting to try and fix this. I've gone to audio midi setup and changed from 2-bit 16 to 2 bit 32 while the headphones are plugged in thinking that might have solved the problem after reading multiple forums, but that didn't help either.
I have Lion installed. 10.7.3. And it's a 2009 Macbook Pro 13" with only one external audio port.

Not sure about your iMac problem, but from reading about 16 different websites, this is a very widespread problem. I don't know how you ever got it to work, but everyone with a new 13" MBP with the combined audio port is saying that you have to use one of those special cables that has more "rings" around it like the iphone headphones that have a built in mic to use line in. Read this article http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=1389284&highlight=audio+in+from+ste reo where there are a whole host of people complaining about this. Apparently there are some aftermarket parts you can get to solve this, but if I was you i'd make a trip to an apple store if thats possible, or pick up the phone and call them and confirm whether or not this should work. It seems they are advertising line in, and that is not possible without a combination cable. Either way I hope this helps you. Sorry I couldn't be of more help than this. Definitely opens my eyes about a combination port though. Please post back with your results, as I am considering buying a macbook air, and would like to know what i'm getting into if i'm using a combination port.

  • Windows 7 and the mic on the apple iPod/iPhone headphones

In summary, I do a lot of gaming with various online friends, and I tend to record the games a lot of the time too.
Now the issue is that the best recording software I have for the games is DXTory, which is windows based. I'm fine with that in that sense.
However windows 7 refuses to recognise the built in mic on the iPod/iPhone headphones that I bought about a month back (Before I was using the built in mic of my macbook pro and some now-broken sony headphones)
Whilst the built-in mic does record audio incredibly well, it also picks up my macbook pro's fan noises, resulting in an annoying background humming for a video, and for others through skype etc.
For the record, I'm using a Macbook Pro 15" (It uses an intel core2duo @ 2.66ghz and a Nvidia Geforce 9600m GT. Can't remember the year, but that should provide enough info), OSX 10.6.8 and Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit.

I'm going to bump this because it's kinda urgent that I find out if I can or can't use my iPod/iPhone headphone's mic.

  • TS2634 My iphone headphones with microphone don't work.  Any suggestions?

My iphone headphones with microphone have stopped working, and they are under warranty.  I am having difficulty getting an answer about what to do from Apple - just got off the phone with them, and they emailed me an article that was of no help at all.  Any suggestions as to how I can resolve  this issue would be greatly appreciated.

All, I have this same problem and has just solved it on my iPhone.
I read up on the problem at att.com/esupport and arrived at the link below:
    https://www.att.com/esupport/article.jsp?sid=KB413495#fbid=ahhj00ALH45
"If your email address is linked to your AT&T Access ID, changing your AT&T Access ID password automatically changes your email password to the same password.
If you use your email address as your AT&T Access ID, changing your email password automatically changes your AT&T Access ID password to the same password."
I have a ATT Uverse (for my internet access) acct and could not log on so I requested for password reset. They sent me temp password and I had to change my password to my Uverse acct. I use my att.net email as the log on for my Uverse acct. Per att instructions above, my Uverse acct is linked to my att.net email, so now my att.net email pw has been changed to the pw for my Uverse acct.
Accordingly, go into your iPhone Settings, Mail, Contacts, Calendars, choose your Att.net mail acct and change your password.  In my case I changed it to the new pw I had set up for my Uverse acct and it works.
Before doing this, I had also added new servers as shown below. The way I see it because your iPhone will try in succession to log on to each server from top to bottom of the list, it's best to add all the mail servers.
    smtp.mail.yahoo.com
    smtp.mail.att.net
    outbound.att.net
Please note that I did not have to add "imap.mail.att.net" and my Att.net mail on my iPhone still works.
    Hope this helps.

  • Line-In on MBP unibody and iPhone Headphone Mic

I wanted to use a speech recognition software but it requires a microphone. I do not have one but the iPhone headphones have a mic built-in that I have been trying to get my MBP to recognize. I have searched the forums but have not found a definitive answer on whether or not this is possible and how to go about doing this. In sys pref, when I have the headphones plugged into line-in it does not even recognize any sound but the internal mic does work so it is either the headphones fault or this does not work.
    Any ideas?

    thanks thats great!

  • Replacement Apple iPhone headphones outside US?

I've been lucky enough to be using an unlocked iPhone in Australia now for a few months, but I must have kinked the cable on the supplied iPhone headphones because I'm getting almost no audio out of one of them.
I like the original headphones because the microphone/pause button really works well. I'd just replace the headphones with a set of third-party iPhone-compatible headphones, but haven't been able to find a pair that includes a mic.
Does anyone know of a third-party unit that includes a mic? Or a way to buy a pair of originals from Australia? I've tried ebay.com but have only found cheap Chinese crap and none with a mic.
    Thanks!

  • Can't hear my caller after I remove my iphone headphones

Has anyone else had this problem?
you are listening to your music using th iphone headphones, then you remove your headphones from the iphone, when you get a call you can't hear the caller and they can't hear you. I discovered that the only way to fix this problem is to re-insert the headphone and click the mute button on the headphone! It seems that when you use the headphones and click mute and then remove your headphones it remains stuck on mute, not allowing you to be heard on an outgoing or incoming call!!!!!
What's up with that this? is my second iphone and it has happened to both my phones. It's a good thing I had my headphones with me, otherwise my phone would be useless or worse yet if it was an emergency I would not be able to call 911!

That is the solution so far other than a restore.
FWIW It worked with a Belkin audio cord as well. I tried it a few times in and out with no luck.
    Here's what worked for me:
    1. Start ipod and pause on a song.
    2. Insert cord or headset.
    3. Hit play.
    4. Hit Pause.
    5. Remove cord or headset.
    6. Hit play....
After (6) it didn't do much but then I noticed the volume slider grab a life of its own. When it settled down... all was working again.
What a pain in the rear.
Apple if you reading this fix it. I happened to get stuck at work after listening to music the night before... when I tried to make a call, guess what. All day without audio.
    Brutal!

  • Apple iPhone headphone extension cable

    Hi!
I am looking for an extension cable to extend the original in-ear-headphone (mic and sound) from the Brodit Passive holder in my car (left of the stearing wheel and down betweeen the seat where I can plug the headphone in. It needs to be 1-1,5 m long.
Dont want the cable types with integrated mics, since I want to use the original in-ear-headphone with mic and sound.
    Any ideas what to get?
    Regards
    Claus

It's not slim and sleek or white like the iPhone headphones but it's the only one I could find. I'm getting one for my work computer as I like to sit slightly further away from my laptop there.
    You site offers a 3ft, 6ft, 12ft, and 25ft option. I don't think I'll need more than 3ft so here's the link for that one: http://www.mcmelectronics.com/product/STELLAR-LABS-24-10461-/24-10461
I sure hope someone can find a slimmer one that's white.

  • IPhone headphones issue

I can't hear people when calling without using the iPhone headphones. I have tried other suggestions - powering the unit off (both buttons); I have taken the headphone jack out and put it back in several times. When I have the headphones out and increase/decrease the volume button, I don't see the "(headphones)" next to the ringer or volume indicator. Not sure what else to do at this point? Suggestions?

    Hi Charles,
Is the iPhone updated to the latest version of iPhone software(currently 2.2.1)? If not, update the iPhone as described here: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=305744
If the iPhone is already updated, try restoring it. The article I linked above will also walk you through restoring the iPhone.

  • Pausing audio playback using iPhone headphones

I love how I can pause, resume, and ffwd any audio/music on my iPhone using the Apple iPhone headphones switch. I am sad this feature was left out of the iPad. I'd like to vote for this feature to be added in the next generation iPads.

    This article lists the compatibility.

  • Why don't my iPhone headphones work with my Macbook pro?

I just got a 13 in Macbook Pro with a retina screen. My sound woks great from the internal speakers, but when I plug my iPhone headphones in and try to play music they just make a loud popping noise and then buzz. I have checked system preferences, the headphones are recognized and all the settings look correct. I have also tried resetting PRAM and SMC. Do I need to go to the Apple store? Is there a better fix?? Are these headphones just not compatible???

Are you sure? According to the Apple website it claims the headphone supports Apple iPhone headset with microphone.
