Thanks for the question. If I understand correctly, when you are connecting to cellular data the iPhone gets hot. I would recommend that you read this article, it may be able to help you isolate or resolve the issue.

IPhone heating up, laggy, slow and low battery after updating to 7.1.1

I mean, after upgrading to 7.1 my iPhone 4 worked very well, actually worked pretty fast, I felt like I'm back on iOS 6, and liked the iOS 7 for the first time. But now after updating to 7.1.1, battery drains very quickly, it's so slow, and laggy, also iPhone heats up really fast when I'm using it. Is it the same to you or it's happening just to me? My friend also called me last night and said "Is your iPhone heating up like mine", it seems I'm not the only one??

Even my iphone 4 was heating up like ****, i cant even touch it with my bear hands... Too much heat, too much draining of battery. Even normal usage without any data connection & wifi, i am getting 2-3 hours backup. That is too ridiculous. I'm going crazy with this bloody 7.1.1 update. Try a reset ..
Tap Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings
You will have to re enter the Wi-Fi password.

Exchange Outlook Push Not working, Battery life Tanking, iPhone heats up!

I have seen several posts about this, but nothing that has been able to exactly describe my issue. I have a iPhone 3G on the latest firmware, 3.1.2. I was recently able to add my work exchange email to the phone and it worked fine with SSL disabled. At the time, we had not yet set up security on our OWA. Well that lasted about a week, then they decided to enable the security and since then, my push exchange mail with Outlook has not worked. I tried enabling the SSL feature on the phone and still no dice. As a result, my battery only lasts about 3 hours and the phone's physical temperature heats up. Once I delete the exchange account, the tempreceeds and the battery life returns to normal. I ahve been working closely with our IT guy and we can't seem to figure out what is happening and why it won't sync anymore. I get the error, "cannot get mail, the connection to the server failed" but in the setup, the exchange Account is verified. Any ideas?

Hi, I have just run into the same issue. I was using ver 3.00 on my iPhone 3g up until last night when I upgraded to 3.1.2. Since the upgrade where my phone was successfully connecting to our Exchange 2k3 server and recieving push notifications for mail and calendar etc, this has now stopped. The result now being it will only pull mail on request.
As mentioned in the post above, I have noticed the battery life on my phone has deteriorated significantly, to the point it only lasts a few hours, with almost zero usage.
Please help.

We are having iPod Video/YouTube problems that I believe it's related to heat. Can anybody please tell me whether or not they are experiencing video weirdness (garbled display, super weird artifacts while playing a video, freezing video) when your iPhone gets warm/hot? I'd like to track this.

I have noticed the phone getting noticeably warm while browsing the internet. I don't know if this is more than how my Razr phone was when talking on it for a long time. I think, though I'm not sure, that the "glass" front may be conducting the heat differently. I don't know for sure. I'm just noticing it. I also was aware of it on a 20 minute phone call - my ear got hot.

did you already try to reset the phone by holding the sleep and home button until the Apple logo comes up again? If still no change, a restore "as new iphone" would be the next step. In that case don't use your backup to get your data back, it may contain damaged files causing your problem.

went through a couple iphones in two weeks (no joke) had to keep returning to the apple store which is an hour and a half away from my hometown (parents weren't too happy with the amount they spent on petrol!!) first of all i got a replacement iphone because the one i had wasnt playing music, just before my iphone started playing up i had purchased a fake charger online after losing my genuine one, the fake one looked genuine enough. So i proceeded to use the fake charger once i had my replacement to find my replacement iphone wasnt holding charge and turning off itself etc. (after being charged using the fake charger) i returned the replacement iphone and the apple support man at genius desk suggested it could be the charger (i didnt think this could be possible, a charger causing so much trouble) so i blamed apple. got another replacement and i decided to purchase a genuine apple charger (just put of curiousity) iphone is now working fine, keeping battery had no problems. therefore i believe fake chargers may be appealing to buy (as the cost is cheap) but purchasing a genuine one is a small price to pay considering all the trouble i went through!

My wife is having the same problems as a reciever. She works in a school as a teaching assistant and her teacher sends messages that are mixed with previous texts from ages ago.

You cannot use the Bluetooth on the iPhone to connect to another iPhone. That is why it only shows searching. As far as the iPhone heating up when charging, some of that is normal, however if your phone heats up to the point to where you cannot hold it, then something is wrong. You can try to reset and/or restore the phone's software, however it sounds like it may be a battery issue. I suggest an appointment at the Genius Bar at the Apple Store for a checkup.
