Iphone hot spot

I was just wondering about the Verizon Iphone because at the verizon press conference they said that the verizon iphone could make its self a hotspot for other devices and that the software number is 4.2.5 but the att iphone 4 is 4.2.1 and i was just wondering is this a software feature or a hard ware feature so the att model can get it to?

This is essentially the same feature called "Tethering" that is available from AT&T for the current iPhone 4. There are different plans, costs and restrictions from Verizon & AT&T.

Thanks for helping ... All that configuration is already done. I am able to surf the web from my computer using my iPhone's hotspot.
When I want to send an email from my computer, I get a message asking me to select the the SMTP server. Then I select my usual ISP server, but the message comes back telling me it does not work.
Is there any other configuration to do ?

Is iPhone Hot Spot outgoing email possible without using a 3rd party Relay service like Unified Email ? It was not with the phone card.

Should not need no relay since the E-mail is not going to go to the phone it is just going to pass through and not be relayed. The computer should see the phone as a wirless access point. I use it with outlook on my laptop with no issues to my Exchange server.

It will massively drained your battery, also bear in mine the temperature, make sure your phone does not get to hot (especially in hotter region, such as Bali)

Weak apple tv wifi signal improves when using iphone hot spot

IPad, iPhon, hot spot.

I have an iPad WiFi, and use the hot spot from my iPhone to connect to the internet. This works very well. Can the iPad also share the GPS information from the iPhone, when using maps?

Please update this thread with information on the longevity of this fix over the next few days. I have been having this issue since iOS 6 came out with both of my iPhones. Simply restarting the phone fixes the issue, but only temporarily. Every time I try to reconnect (not immediately, but if I wait several hours or the next day) I have to restart the phone again. It always appears to be working. The phone lights up the blue bar telling me that there is a connection, but the ipad never gets an ip from my phone. I have subsequently tried the suggestion here, resetting everything, etc., but no change. After the restart, everything works. The next day, I have to restart again. This happens on both my and my wife's iPhone, both were updated OTA to iOS 6, so it is unlikely they both got a corrupted iOS 6 update. The connection issue is also not only on my iPads, as my MacBook Air also will not connect, until after the restart. If your solution continues to work, then I guess I'll be heading to Apple, but I don't want to do that, as the closest store to me is almost 2 hours away. I upgraded to AT&T 10GB data share so we could use our 2 iPads, the Air, an iPod touch, and my kids' 3 ipad minis while on the road, but since the ios6 update, this is no longer possible for me.

If you are wanting to use the Verizon iPad as the hotspot you will need a Verizon plan.
If you are going to connect your Verizon iPad to your iPhone AT&T hotspot via WiFi it makes no difference at all.

I recently got the new iPhone4 on Verizon. I have the Hotspot functionality. When I turn on the hotspot, my iPad finds the connection...but when I try to connect, the password box appears and the password entry is enabled but the only other button on the screen is a cancel button. There is no "accept" button, or "go" button....or anything to confirm entry of the proper hotspot password....
Any ideas anyone?

Read it already. No help. The issue is in the password box on the iPad.....there is no physical way to accept or acknowledge entry of the password once it is entered. The only option in the window is the cancel button in the upper left corner of the pane?? The phone is producing the hotspot appropriately and the ipad is finding it immediately....

Doesn't the fact that I can surf the web with my iPhone's hot spot and that I cannot use Mail normally has I normally do give you a clue what the problem could be ?
What other information can I give you other than normally I can surf and send email with my regular ISP. Now that my ISP is dead I am using my iPhone's hotspot to surf the web awaiting that my ISP's connoection returns. Surfing is OK but I cannot send emails with through Mail.

Upgraded to Maverick. Now cannot connect to wifi. All my other devices will connect. Have rest wireless hot spot switch and cable modem. Other devices still connect but MacPro does not. MacPro wireless is self assigning an IP address blocking access.

If you follow this video you'll see how to delete your WiFi AP from the OS, this will allow you to select it again which I feel will correct your problem.

HT3574 bluetooth and hot spot iphone5 to Ipad 2 and Mac????

Hi, I just got an Iphone 5 and first of all I am not able to pair my Ipad and Mac to the Iphone with Bluetooth. I also just got the personal hotspot on the Iphone 5 but I doesn't work with bluetooth, nor with USB clabe and neither with the other network.

I do not use bluetooth - Should I. I am using the hot spot capability with the new Ipad Air in the same way that I used it with my Mac Book pro. I have reset the connection but not restored the IOS as yet since it is only one month old. I have the new Air. I thought that the connection was supposed to use cellular data "on" and "personal hot spot on" that enables the phone to act like a WiFi connection similar to a router we have at home. I learned from a discussion with Apple that the Ipad once it goes to sleep will disconnect from the network.
To be clear I - I got the Ipad to use as an internet/mail connection using the Iphone hot spot in lieu of lugging along the Mac Book Pro.
Hopefully that clarifies any issues. I will not really know until I go back to my New Mexico House is signal strength is an issue. I think not
