Iphone HOT!?!?

Whenever I charge my Iphone, whether on the computer or the wall, it gets extremely hot. So hot to the point that i was awaken by the heat one night when i was sleeping with it. I know i should stop by a genius bar, but i live so far away from one now that i cant just go to one.( it would take months before i could get to one) Any suggestions?

The iphone gets warm when the battery is charging or when an application is constantly running in the background (like push/fetch mail, Location Services). If both are happening at once, then it will get hot. Make sure your mail settings are what you intended. And turn off any other settings not in use.

Oups !   I cannot send email from my computer using my iPhone's hot spot with Mail.
How do I do that ?
    Regards.

    Hi iCare,
Thanks for helping ...   All that configuration is already done.  I am able to surf the web from my computer using my iPhone's hotspot.
When I want to send an email from my computer, I get a message asking me to select the the SMTP server.  Then I select my usual ISP server, but the message comes back telling me it does not work.
Is there any other configuration to do ?

  • IPhone Hot Spot outgoing email

Is iPhone Hot Spot outgoing email possible without using a 3rd party Relay service like Unified Email ? It was not with the phone card.

Should not need no relay since the E-mail is not going to go to the phone it is just going to pass through and not be relayed. The computer should see the phone as a wirless access point. I use it with outlook on my laptop with no issues to my Exchange server.

Is there a downside to using my iphone hot spot?

    Agreed with Deggie here,
It will massively drained your battery, also bear in mine the temperature, make sure your phone does not get to hot (especially in hotter region, such as Bali)

  • IPhone Hot when charging

I have the first generation iPhone 8GB, and have been using it for less than a year. I recently noticed that the iPhone gets really hot when it's charging, especially with my car charger. I'm not sure if it's the result of the heat, the upper left corner of the screen appears a little brighter than the rest of the screen. It's barely noticeable, but I am wondering if there is something I can do other than to complain to Apple? Perhaps reset something?
I am currently running iPhone software 2.0, but it was getting hot with both 1.1.4 and 2.0.

Getting warm to hot while charging may be normal. Once charged there should be no more current flow and it should be normal temp.
I've always been a bit wary of car chargers, though, since the voltage they see can vary quite bit; good ones deal with that issue but some may not.
Does it get hot on your wall charger? If not you might want to find a new car charger.

  • IPhone hot to touch

Is it normal for a iPhone to be hot on the back side? Cause mines sure does.

I have had an iPhone since June 30th. It has been enclosed with an iCase skin since the middle of July.
It should not get hot with or without the skin on. Normally when the iPhone heats up it is due to one or two things.
    1) You may have a malfunctioning battery. If the second item listed below is not the cause, you should take the iPhone back to Apple for an exchange. This can be accomplished through the store or AppleCare.
    2) If you have too many functions operational at any one time, such as YouTube, WiFi, internet, it is possible for the phone to heat up. If the iPhone, as you say, is too hot to touch, that is not normal. Too many functions will warm the device. Make sure that you have stopped those functions that you are not using and then see if it warms up as you indicated.

  • Iphone hot to touch when removed from holster

After a couple days of carrying my iphone around in my pocket I needed a case for my belt. I went online and ordered a case that stated “iphone” with a magnetic flap which is what I used with my blackberry. After a few hours in the case I took the phone out and it was HOT to touch. It also had no service and gave me some error stating I should contact Apple support. I powered the phone on/off and everything was back to normal. I tried the case again with same results. Is the magnetic flap causing a problem?

It sounds like your case may not be the culprit.

  • Iphone hot around earpiece

After making a few calls (probably about 3-5 mins in length) my iPhone earpiece gets warm. Probably too warm. Is this common. I have searched this thread...and I would say that the earpiece and the back of the earpiece are warm (bordering on hot)...I am not in a wi-fi zone...I dont have multiple applications running.
does this happen to anyone else....would this warrant an exchange?

thios happens to me when im on safari for a good while or on the phone as long as it isnt too hot its fine i just put it in sleep and let it cool on my desk

  • IPhone HOT this morning!

I've had a perfectly functioning iPhone for a couple months now. It's on release 1.1.1 and I have had NONE of the issues that other posters claim regarding low battery life or WiFi problems. I basically run the phone all day and charge it at night (just plug it in while on). This morning I go to remove the charger and the phone is hot! Any ideas what hapened? Should I be concerned? I haven't synced it for a few days....

Since you say you have not synced in a few days I assume you had it plugged into the USB charger brick. I've heard that many of those have been faulty. I'd not use it and see if you can get it replaced.
    Does your phone still work?
I've had my brand new one get "warm" and its been both times due to the fact that somehow during slipping it into the holster I've activated the camera. It sits in the holster and does not go to sleep pumping video from the camera and it gets rather warm.

  • IPhone hot - battery dropping fast - low RAM despite no apps open

    Hi,
I have a 4S running on iOS 7.0.4. The iPhone sometimes gets extremely hot and I can practically watch its battery power drain. I noticed that AWAYS when this happens, free RAM is low (typically below 20 MB), so it could be some page treshing bug in iOS of kind.
I say bug in iOS because this happens even if I do not have any third party apps open (mostly use iBooks, Email and Calendar). And yes, background app refresh is off, as is iCloud and Siri.
I can temporarily fix the problem using the "Battery" utility to detect RAM memory usage, I use it to reallocate memory when its low. The Battery utility typically will free memory towards 150 to 220 MB. Once that's done, the battery drain stops and the iPhone starts cooling down.
The frustrating thing is that in the background - even when I do nothing but use iBooks - free RAM steadily will go down in a matter of minutes! The cycle starts over: RAM usage goes up and once it falls below 20 MB, the iPhone will get hot, I notice, re-allocate memory, iPhone cools down, etc etc.
    My questions:
    1. Is there any App or iOS setting which outomatically frees unused RAM memory (without me manually runnung the "Battery" utility)?
2, Where can I see which App or system process eats up the free memory?
    Many thanks,
    HJ

Take it back. There's definitely a problem.

  • Why is my iPhone hot like a frying pan?

I was charging my iPhone and quite suddenly it began to feel like I could scramble eggs on it. Why is it doing this?

This is just speculation on my part, but from many threads it has come up that the phone is constantly processing (thus getting hotter) and it is doing this as it got stuck with some check (eg: checking email). Now this is just my opinion but from the number of threads I have seen I noticed a lot of them when detailing what they had enabled, Yahoo, AOL, and GMAIL (non IMAP settings), were listed a lot as email accounts they were checking. Now I know there have been a lot of Yahoo Push issues and I just have to wonder, if you disable any of those email accounts (go ahead and leave on POP ones) does it continue to get hot?
After disabling them I would reboot (not just turn off and on).
    http://movies.apple.com/movies/us/apple/iphone/2007/tips/iphone-tip-resetiphone560x316.mov
    To add more info.
    A reset/reboot is:
    Go to Home Screen
    Press and Hold Home Button
Keep holding and press and hold Lock Button
    Keep holding Both
You will see Slide to Turn Off (Don't keep holding)
The phone will turn off (in time, but screen will look like it has some white lines)
    Keep Holding
When you see the Apple Logo, you can let go.
Turning off via the Slide to Turn off while good and fine to turn off, is more like the Sleep Mode on a computer. Thus any locked up issues in memory remain when you turn back on. A reboot as described is like doing a real Turn off and Turn On on a computer.
