IPhone: how to charge the battery when in Europe.

I'm going to Germany for 6 months, and I will most certainly be taking my iPhone. The only thing I'm not sure about it is will I need a Power Converter Adaptor to plug into the wall with a Plug Adaptor? Or will I only need to use the Plug Adaptor?
Someone told me that the iPhone has the capability to automatically switch over the power conversion from US to European without the Converter Adaptor Plug, so that I only need a plug to fit the German Sockets.
Can anyone clear this up for me? I don't want to fry my iPhone!

And if you want to be really cool -- you can get the Apple international adapter kit from the apple store and just slip on the appropriate plug right onto your charger brick -- I have a set that I use constantly, and they interchangeable on the iPod/iPhone charger brick, as well as the Macbook, Macbook Pro, and other charger bricks as well. Very handy.

Is it best to fully charge the battery when you first get your laptop?
I remember buying a bluetooth earpiece and I had to do that in order get the most out of the battery due to the memory it has or something like that..
    are macbooks the same??

I agree. I HATE having to wait for the battery to charge on my new Palms and Macs before using them - I guess GOD teaches us patience in strange ways (hee, hee).

  • How do charge the battery

How do I charge the battery?

Use the cable that was provided with the Shuffle and either plug it into your PC's USB outlet or to an adapter that plugs into a wall outlet.  See your iPod's User Guide for more information.

  • How smart is my mac? can use the AC adapter as a main power source and not charge the battery when its fully charged?

does my mac use the AC adapter as the power source when its plugged in and the battery is full? is it smart to enough to split?

The charging circuit charges until the battery reaches 100%, then shuts down the charging and goes to powering mode.  When the battery charge trickles down to 93-95% the charging circuit starts again and tops up the battery.  Will continue to operate like that if you leave it plugged in.  Keeping it plugged in does not harm the battery or risk overcharging.

  • Is it bad to charge the battery when it is full?

    ^Titlte^
Im using a 2012 13 Inch MacBook Pro. I play WoW and Diablo on it, while I do, I keep the charger in it. Is it bad for the computer if the battery is full and the charger is in?

Not at all. The battery and charger have built in circuitry that prevents damage if the battery is full when the charger is plugged in. That said, it's good to run down your battery to about 15 or 20% now and then just to keep it working properly.

A lot of computers (especially older ones) generally do not provide enough power to their USB ports to charge the iPad at a sufficient rate - it may still be charging slowly, and should be a bit quicker if the iPad's screen is off (if you leave it for a while and then disconnect it from your computer you may find that it's battery percentage has gone up). The wall charger is usually the most efficient way to charge the iPad.
And for info using all capitals is considered to be SHOUTING

  • HT1476 when is it best to charge the battery, when it is completly dead, almost dead or at any time you want a full chargre?

When is it best to charge your battery for and Ipot touch 4th generation? when it is completly dead, almost dead, or any time you want full charge.

Letting the battery completly drain is not that good. Otherwise, just charge when you want.

  • How to handle the battery when AC is connected to Satellite?

    Hi,
I've just bought first Toshiba laptop, and want to get the best from the battery life, as the one on my last laptop is now buggered.
My question is : If I indend to run the laptop almost always from the mains adaptor, is it possible or advisable to actually remove the battery all together so as not to subject the battery to repeated charging and discharging cycles.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi
I would also recommend removing the battery from the notebook if you use the notebook mostly with the AC adaptor.
You should also 3 - 4 times charge and discharge completely the battery.
This is necessary because the batteries support a memory effect.
You said its your first Toshiba notebook. So I think you should take a look into the user manual which should be installed on the unit.
In my user manual I have found many interesting information about the battery handling.
So it could be interesting for you too.

  • How to charge the battery if the power input is damaged?

The mains power socket on my Satellite 4070CDT has been damaged and the laptop will no longer take power or recharge the battery from this socket. (Attempts to re-solder the joint have damaged the power detection circuitry!)
Does anyone know if I can feed the appropriate voltage (10.8v?) to the battery contacts inside the battery housing to keep the laptop going, and if so, which contacts and with what tolerance on the voltage?
(Applying 12v across the +ve and one particular -ve contact seems to persuade the power management software that it is running from mains without a battery, but after 20 seconds the laptop powers down.)
    Any ideas? Thanks.

With some experimentation (and the assistance of a voltage meter) I have found a solution, which I have described below should anyone else be similarly troubled!
My li-ion battery has 10 end-facing contacts and 2 top-facing contacts. One of the 2 top-facing contacts is the real +ve contact for the battery, which passes charge via the other top-facing contact to the end-facing contact that is marked as being the +ve terminal.
Of the 9 remaining end-facing contacts, only two (the 3rd and 10th counting from the +ve as 1st contact) were reporting any charge, probably due to the battery being almost fully discharged.
I have soldered the 12v +ve supply from a new external adaptor to the 1st end-facing contact (which is marked as the +ve contact) and the -ve connection to the 3rd and 10th contacts, feeding the cable out through a notch cut in the laptop casing at the contact end of the battery.
The cable is terminated with a suitably sized floating socket to receive the plug from the 12v adaptor.
    AND IT WORKS!
The laptop is reporting that the battery only has 4% charge, but it keeps going! I have turned-off the battery alarms and system-tray indicator as they are meaningless now.
So my 6-year-old laptop lives to see another day, although it is no longer a 'mobile' device now that it needs constant mains supply - but it still has its uses.
    Query closed!

  • New MBP a lemon laptop won't charge the battery

I received my new Macbook Pro 15.4 2.4 ghz this Monday, I was very excited except for when I notice that the laptop was not charging the battery when I had it plugged in. I took out the battery to see if it would stay on and if it had anything to do with the charger but it didn't the laptop stayed on. Under the Profile it even said it wasn't charging and it has never been charge. I knew something was wrong. So I made an appointment for the next day to go the Genius Bar since it's close to where I work. They took a look at it and recommended I exchange it for a new Machine since it's still under the 14 day policy and not to mention I've only had it for a day. So I called 1 800 my apple and setup for an exchange. I'm waiting from apple an email for a shipping label, once they have my tracking I will receive my new unit again. Though I'm upset about my laptop not being able to charge I hate to have to wait again for another laptop. I'll keep you all posted if anyone is interested. I hope the next one works without any problems.

That ***** - I am waiting for mine to come. I hope mine doesn't have that problem.

  • HT4623 Hi!My iPAD lost its charge fast !!I've got an iPAD capacity 57,1GB and it has available 55,1GB ,version 7.0.4 .I'd like to know how long does the battery last when it is 100 % charged.

Hi!I've just installed the iOS 7.0.4 operating system and the battery lost its charge at an incredibly speed.I'd like to know how long does the battery last if everything is right when it has 100% charge. Thanks!

I`m `propping` up this thread to to the top of the forums again as it`s been three months and not a single community member or Apple support personnel have replied, which I find discouraging.
I`ve tried everything - both the iOS device(s) and Apple TV have been upgraded (albeit reluctantly) to the latest versions, since iOS 7 looks like crap compared to iOS 6. Both use the same WiFi network. Bluetooth is set to `off`, as per the online tutorials on the Apple Support page.
I also tried shutting all of them down, including the router, waiting 30 seconds and turning the router, then the Apple TV then the iOS device on sequentially with 30 seconds in between each, again as per this discussion forum, and still nothing.
Why can Apple not make a technology, such as AirPlay, work with greater than 10%?
    Any other ideas?
    Come on, people.
    Thanks,
    Doug

    Perform a Reset... Try again...
Reset  ( No Data will be Lost )
Press and Hold the Sleep/Wake Button and the Home Button at the Same Time...
Wait for the Apple logo to Appear...
Usually takes about 15 - 20 Seconds... ( But can take Longer...)
    Release the Buttons...
