IPHONE, iBook, SAFARI AND WIRELESS NETWORKS

I am writing hoping that someone employed by Apple will come to my aid. I continue to experience issues with both the iPhone and my iBook G4. I have had 4 or 5 iphones since June 29th due to various problems locking up, making them unusable. Cannot perform software updates. I do not believe this problem is due to Apple products. I have written before in regard to the inability to successully trade stocks on many occasions on my iBook while using various networks. Again I do not believe these are Apple product related. I am and being harassed and have been for some time. I do not want to believe that Apple is involved in this ongoing harassment. If you are an Apple employee, I urge you to investigate and to stop this harassment being conducted by a cooperative of companies. Please consult my user profile and record of service issues in various Apple stores with the ibook and iphone over since Jan 2005. I have had incidents in Atlanta, Michigan, Alabama,Florida and Tennessee. I need my life back and I need the harassment to stop. I am just someone who is an Apple shareholder and who loves their products.

As you are probably aware, Apple does not read these forums other than to moderate them. They never reply to individual users here. If you need assistance with a problem with your Apple product, you'll need to describe it better here for us to help you, or contact Apple by phone (800-275-2273) or bring the computer/iPhone in to an Apple store for assistance. Be sure to make a reservation online before you carry in to a store.
I'm not sure what you mean by harassment. If you could be a bit more specific maybe we could help you here.

  • IPhone kicks Macbook off wireless network?

Alright, this is rather bizarre. I have D-Link DIR 625 wireless router, and I had no issues with Macbook (and other computers) connecting to it at all.
I also connect my iPhone to the same wireless network. However, all of a sudden (the only change I know of is update to 10.5.7), if Macbook is connected to the wireless first, and I connect iPhone second, the Macbook looses the connection. If I restart the AirPort on the Macbook, then they both co-exist on the network with no issues. No other computer on the wireless network is affected.
Does anyone know what could be going on here? This is reproducible each time. All I have to do is turn iPhone on (it auto connects to the preferred network) and Macbook is out .

    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
    - Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.

  • Officejet Pro L7780 Wired and wireless networking at same time

I have an officejet pro L7780 printer that I would like to use wired and wireless networking at the same time.  It that possible.  The printer is connected directly to the network by ethernet, but I would like to print wirelessly with an ipad or iphone using HP ePrint Home and Biz.
    Thanks,
    Maurice Hawley

The bad news: no it is not possible to have two connections active on your printer at once.
The good news: the router will connect any device to the printer regardless of how the printer or the devices are connected.  So your iPad can print to a printer that is wired (with Ethernet) to your router.
If it does not work, restart your router by pulling its power plug momentarily.

  • DHCP Server - Different Range for Wired and Wireless Network

We have DHCP setup on Windows Server 2012r2 and the range given to us by the main HQ is 10.65.112.1-10.65.112.254 (there are several exclusions under this range)
Now since the range gets exhausted quickly, they provided another one 10.65.122.1-10.65.122.254.
What our branch would love to do is to dedicate the first range for Wired Computers and the other range for Wireless Devices (Phone,Tablets, Mobiles)
Right now we have 2 different scopes setup in DHCP, the second one is disabled. In our network we have 6 access points and also have a CISCO SG300-52 Managed Switch. It has an inbuilt DHCP Server and also has the function for DHCP Relay. But we are not actually using any of its functionality as of now.
So my question is how to have 2 separate ranges for wired and wireless network. People have mentioned vlans but I have no clue on how to get that done.
Is there a simpler way avoding V-LANS or if not, would love to get step by step procedure on how to go about this. Any help will be much appreciated
    Regards,
    Sheldon

Hi Sheldon, please read this post
    https://supportforums.cisco.com/thread/2270049
You will need some modifications though. Steps 1-6 is very relevant. On step 6, you need to pay particular close attention to the "default router". If the SX300 handles your intervlan routing then the default router needs to be the IP of your VLAN. If you have a different device to handle VLAN routing then the default router needs to be that IP address.

  • Airport and Wireless network issues

I have read all the issues about airport and wireless network. I don't see the issues that I have. My issue is that my wireless network used to automatically connect as soon as I power up my powerbook; then one day I power up and I was connected to default and I did not see my wireless address listed. I when into airport setup to try and setup again and it would not let me saying my password was not right. I logged off and then on again this time my network address was listed, but it still would not connect automatically to the network, now everytime I go to the web I must pick my own network and put in a passwork that sometimes works and sometimes not.
I have not done any updates or put any new software on the powerbook, so this is not the reason for my problem.
    Please Help!!!
    Thank's

    G4 Power PC 15in Alum   Mac OS X (10.3.9)

Had this issue with our imac after upgrading to 10.4
The answer was to go into Network and select airport tab.
Listed there (for me) were three settings. Delete all of them ,they will probably include the actual network you want! Click to apply. Re-start the Mac.
Go back to network and airport and you should now see only the network you wish to join. It will ask for passwords again!!
Click apply and restart. It worked for me.

  • Safari and wireless don't work unless I am connected to wireless

safari and my wireless don`t work together, unless the macbook is connected to the wireless

Take your MacBook to another location where wireless networks are available - a coffee house or public building - and see if it finds wireless networks when it starts up. If so, the problem might be with your router at home. If not, you might check System Preferences > Network and see if Airport is operating/on.
If by "connected" you mean via ethernet cable, there are a couple things to try: Take a look at your wireless router's settings (router's manual will have instructions for accessing settings) and see what security features are on/off.

  • Bluetooth and wireless network not working

  • Problem with Skype and Wireless Networks

I have been having a problem with Airport for about 10 months. Long winded explanation follows.
Initially file transfers over wireless networks were extremely slow but this seems to have been that 10.5.2 update problem. There is a remaining issue when I use Skype on my Mac (details below) connected to a wireless network the incoming and outgoing audio drop out for 1 - 3 seconds at irregular but frequent intervals (approx every 5 - 10 seconds). This is regardless of the wireless network I am on - and that is dozens of them all over the world. Note it is voice only calls, not video. Apple has replaced the Airport card and the mother board; the OS has been reinstalled; test accounts set up but nothing fixes the problem.
At one point I had temporary relief by switching off 'Configure IPv6' in System Preferences/Network/Airport/TCP/IP. This worked for a month or so but now the problem is back as before.
All other aspects of wireless activity are fine. Wireless firmware is 1.4.4.
I have worn out my welcome with the usually sensational help desk. Any suggestions out there in Mac Land?

    Hi there
Been a hectic week here getting this problem resolved. It is all OK now. Here is what we found and how it was done.
When Airport was playing up we set up an unlimited ping of the wireless router in the office. This is what it showed:

    and so on.
After discussion with tech support they said the Airpot card had to be replaced. This was done with admirable expediency and I got the MBP back in 36 hours. On testing it the same problem was still there. Identical pattern on the ping test, the fault was not the hardware.
Once more a call to Apple and another tech. This time we booted from the OS 10.5 install disk and ran the ping test. I ran it for a few hours without seeing the fault, it worked fine. The problem had to be in the operating system.
After backing up all the data I zeroed the drive and did a clean install of the OS. Bingo! Problem gone.
So after 10 months, two airport cards and a mother board, the issue was in fact something corrupt deep in the OS.
So to anyone having similar problems with Airport, run a ping test as described above. If you see that kind of pattern, try a clean install before going down the hardware road.

  • How to set up an integrated wired and wireless network

I have an iMac 17" 1GHz connected to a ethernet hub which in turn is connected to a DSL modem and from there to my ISP. I also have a MacBook Pro wirelessly connected to an AirPort Express; the AE is connected to the same ethernet hub through its ethernet port.
I can connect to the Internet wirelesly using the MacBook Pro, but I can not seem to connect to the iMac.
How can I keep the iMac wired and the MacBook Pro wireless, but see both on a network? The AE instructions don't seem to have an example for this kind of network.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
    Cheers,
    Martin

    Martin,
As Frank said, you'll need a router with DHCP and NAT abilities (nearly all have this) connected to the modem.
But just in case your "ethernet hub" is actually a router, just re-configure the AE not to distribute IP addresses - AirPort Admin Utility - Network tab. Try that and let us know.
For minimal clutter, if you were DSL broadband instead of cable, you could sell the modem, sell the ethernet router, sell the Airport Express and buy a single Ethernet and Wireless DSL modem router - for less than the price of the AE. Some people like to keep the modem separate to make upgrades to the modem cheaper. My solution is to buy a decent modem in the first place, ie make sure it has ADSL2+. Almost all modem/routers do this now, even my ancient ones have firmware upgrades to offer this.
For minimal spend, you can pick up an Ethernet router for about $30. Just replace your ethernet hub with it.

  • Wired and wireless network setup

I have a small home network, wired right now. I would like to add a wireless access point for near future laptops. Can I add a second router that is wireless to my wired network with having to load router software on a second computer. Is this even possible. My network consists of my PC, HP M8300f desktop PC as home base/client and cable modem with linksys wired router, BEFSR41 connected to a dell 2400 desktop. I am wanting to add a linksys wireless router WRT54G some where in the living room for and access point. Do I have to load the software on the Dell PC or can I just plug in router to wall socket and connect wirelessly that way. Thanks for the help. Just thinking out side the box.

    Hard Drives 640GB 7200rpm SATA (2x320)
Other Info Optical: Super Muliti DVD burner w/lightscribe, Hauppauge WinTV HVR-1800

You can add your WRT54g to your wired network without too much trouble if you follow a couple of simple steps:
Turn off the DHCP server in the wireless-router.
Create an unique wireless network name (aka SSID) and turn on WPA-PSK security.
Make sure the web-page IP address for the wireless-router is set to a unique value different from any of the other wireless devices on your network.
Connect the LAN port of the wireless-router to the LAN port of the Ethernet router.  Do not connect to the wireless-router's WAN port.
This configures your wireless-router into a simple Access-Point and is the easiest way to extend your home network with wireless.

  • Using a wired AND wireless network on one machine for better security

It occurs to me that if I could separate my Internet traffic from my LAN traffic, I could have the best security setup, so that machines on my network would only have file sharing enabled for the WIRED connection and I would use the Internet over the WIRELESS connection.
How do I configure my PowerBook and Mac Mini to do this? In the Sharing preference pane, it doesn't allow me to specify which network port the sharing will be active on.
And once I am conncected to both a wireless and wired network, giving each machine 2 IP addresses, how does the computer know to route the IP addresses to the right port?
I'm using an Airport Extreme Base Station (connected to a cable modem) configured to distribute IP addresses to the wireless ports on the computers for Internet and a Linksys router distributing IP addresses to the ethernet ports on the computers with sharing turned on.

in the Thinkvantage Access software, you can set the network preferences. So you can set the Ethernet to be your most preferred network connection method, while your wireless as the second most preferred method. Or which way you prefer.
So for example, when you dock and the computer detects the ethernet network connection, it will automatically switch to the ethernet as it becomes available. And when you undock, your computer will switch back to wireless as ethernet is not available.

  • A very strange wired and wireless network issue

    Hello,
I have never had any issue at all with my macbook (2008) until this week, I use it both for work and personal use.
Most of time, I'm used to be on customer site, so I use wired and wireless connections depending of the situation....
I have never had any issue at all with wifi neither ethernet connections during three years, until this week... and I can say this is the most strange thing I have ever seen....
Using wired or wireless connection, always the speed of network was really good, at home, many customers, etc never had any problem...
But this week I'm currently out of home, and the hotel where I'm staying I'm having very poor network rate....
Using wireless connection, the download speed is no more than 10kb.... and using ethernet I get less speed... but during the day I'm on customer site, using the ethernet connection and download speed is really good, more than 500k-800k....
I have already tried in the hotel few wifi connections (there are three) and differents wired connections (in diferent rooms) and the download speed is always the same, no more than 10kb...
During this afternoon, I could go into hotel's lab and could connect directly to the router using cable, same speed no more than 10kb....
The most strange thing is on their computers the download speed using wired connection is around 6Mb....
how is possible I'm getting no more than 10kb of download speed when the pc's at hotel using same wired connection gets 6Mb?
I have already deleted current network connections, execute onyx to clear everything, perform dhcp connection, tried manual ip etc, and always the results are the same...
I know there is no problem with the macbook, because it works pretty good at every location I've been... but until this week...
Sincerely I'm getting a little crazy here, I'll appreciate any help!!!
    thanks in advance

I've seen something like this on my T400 when it was running Vista.  Now that I use Win 7 it's been OK. I rather doubt that your issue is the same but I'm tossing it out here just on the off chance.
Im my case, I had to downgrade my Intel 5300 card to a 5100 (as suggested by a Lenovo 2nd-tier tech) to get things working.
My symptoms were a little different.  Wifi was fine until I went back to a wired network.  After that, trying to use the same wifi AP as before would end up associated, but no internet access.  DHCP wasn't working.  The GUI "find" app didn't work as expected either.  Some APs showed up, and some didn't.
If I configured for automatic connection to my home AP it would try and fail.  Just rebooting at that point would again attempt an automatic connection that would succeed.
What I have noticed now that I run Win 7 is that Access Connections is completely useless.  Often the "finder" doesn't show an AP 3 feet away.  I didn't notice that this happened after a switch from wired, but maybe.
Are you using Access Connections?  If so, you might try uninstalling it.
Sorry I can't be of real help,
