IPhone / iCal Duplication

I've been noticing that every time I make an iCal entry in my iPhone, it get's duplicated and I end up with double entries. I have a MobileMe account and I sync with iTunes. Do I need to sync my calendars with iTunes and MobileMe?
Thanks

Jake,
The settings currently selected in iTunes for my iPhone are, sync all contacts, sync iCal calendars, sync notes and sync mail accounts.
I sync Contacts/Calendars/Web Browser through MobileMe, and I have no checkmarks under those headings in iTunes>>Devices>My iPhone>Info tab when I connect the iPhone. Everything remains synced no matter what device/web interface I use. As I wrote earlier, there is this statement under each heading: "Your calendars/bookmarks/contacts are being synced with MobileMe over the air. You can also choose to sync calendars with this computer." For those synced (calendars/bookmarks/contacts)
items, in recognition of that statement, I see no need to check any of the boxes.
I haven't selected anything in the "advanced" category.
As long as all your data remains in sync, I see no reason to use "Advanced." The statement at the bottom of "Advanced" heading says: During the next sync only, iTunes will replace the selected information on this iPhone with information from this computer. If you do not want to do that, do not select "Advanced."
Does this sound correct?
It sounds like syncing is now working as you expect. If that is a true then your settings must be correct for your setup.

  • More iOS5/Mac ical duplication/deletion woes

    More iCal duplication/deletion woes.
The Product list won't let me check more than one product, so here's a summary: MacBook Pro (OS X 10.6.8); iPhone 4S (iOS 5); iPad 2 (iOS 5)
As it stands at the moment, my iPad has three copies of everything*; the iPhone some of some stuff and none of others; and the Mac, my mainstay, is missing almost everything.
I turned on iCloud on the phone and pad.  They synched and immediatly duplicated stuff.  When I hooked either of them to the Mac, it added that calendar.
    I turned iCloud off.
Then there followed several attempts to delete all on the phone and retrieve from the Mac, but it keeps erasing the events on the Mac.
I'm usually very good at troubleshooting these kinds of things, but I cannot figure out what the iPhone is picking up or not picking up, and which calendar takes precedence for any one event.  It's completely confusing.
The last thing I tried was deleting anything that had duplicates on the iPhone, double-checking to make sure the original event was on the Mac, then syncing the phone.  It promptly erased all my original events on the Mac.
I'm afraid to delete the iCloud account because it might erase the iPad, and it has the last remaining threads of my original calendar.
What gives, Apple?  We're not used to this level of Microsoftian cruft!

All gone.  Every single event from the past 10 years, vanished.  And I don't know why.

  • Google calendar event color tags not showing up in IPhone iCal - any fixes?

I have an iPhone 4 (iOS 5.1.1) and am trying to sync my google calendar to the built in iCal app. The events sync both ways, but the color tags I assign to each event does not sync. It used to bother me that the only way to color code events in google calendar was to create multiple calendars, but it seems as though google calendar has added the ability to change the color for each event so I'm going back to google calendar. For example, my classes are in blue, exams are in pink, meetings are turquoise, etc.
I synced my google calendar to the iPhone iCal (via settings, turned on calendar tab listed under gmail account that I use for my google calendar), and all the events sync correctly (can add events on google calendar or iPhone and it syncs), but the colors do not sync. When I view my iPhone iCal all the events from my google calendar are the same color, even if they have different color tags when viewed online. Also, when I add an event on the iPhone iCal, the event syncs to the google calendar but there is no option to change the color tag for the event and it shows up as the default grey color when viewed online.
Is there a way to fix this? Or is this something that google and apple have not resolved?
I would prefer not to use a third party app, but I might consider it if there is no other fix. Thanks!

Hello lulu and welcome to the Palm forums.
I don't know of a way to make the color codes from iCal sync with the color codes on the Palm Z22. The Missing Sync for Palm OS has more features than Palm Desktop, but I also don't believe it will sync the category color codes.

  • Missing invitee field in iphone ical

    Hello,
In my iphone ical, I am missing the invitee/attendee field when I create an event.  How can I get it on?
    Thanks
    Tammy

Not sure if this has been answered, but I had the same problem, and here is how I fixed it.
My issue is that I have both iCloud and Google Calendar sync'd with my iphone 4S on IOS 5.1.1. After restoring my phone the "invitee" field was missing from iCal.
    I did the following:
    1.  Turned off Google Calendar syncing (through IMAP Gmail sync). Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > pick your Gmail account > Turn off Calendars sync.
    2. Set-up Google Calendar sync using Microsoft Exchange (http://support.google.com/mobile/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=138740)
    3. Turn off iCloud Calendar syncing. Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > pick your iCloud account > Turn off Calendars sync.
    4. Turn back on iCloud Calendar syncing. Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > pick your iCloud account > Turn on Calendars sync.
If you don't sync Google Calendars, just do 3 & 4. Now I get the Invitees back (but only for Google Calendar, not iCloud Calendars).
    Hope this helps.

  • ICal Duplication Problem

I don't know where the problem lies - but have been getting killed by calendar duplicates (iCal). I began with around 10 calendars in the left sidebar - and each of those have multiplied like rabbits - to between 50-100 each. Maybe more. (I may have as many as 4000 calendars!) Crazy. Have been trying to delete the dupes in iCal - but to get rid of them all could literally take days. Is there a quick and easy way to get rid of all these dupe calendars?? A step by step guide - plus a way to prevent this from happening in the future.
I am syncing with iPhone, MobileMe and my Mac laptop.
I do not want to get rid of all of them because I have data in some. But most are empty - and clearly need to get rid of those.
I also have some duplicates in birthdays.
I have used the Dupe Deleter - but it is not useful for actually getting rid of the extra calendars.
Would love to hear what solutions you have found to work best. Thanks.

I don't have an answer, but I feel I've at least identified the problem re: duplication of subscribed events in iCal.
Prior to the latest update subscribed calendars were not considered Mobile Me calendars. In order to to have the events update automatically from the "cloud" you would have your touch or phone sync only with mobile me and subscribe to the calendar you want on both your iCal and on your touch or phone.
Now it seems that even though you can't VIEW a subscribed calendar through mobile me, it is treating subscribed calendars as a mobile me calendar - so calendars are showing up twice - once as a subscription through mobile me, and a second time through your touch or phone subscriptions.
The problem? You must physically open iCal and update in order for your cloud to be updated, and your events to show up properly.
The bottom line - for now cancel your subscriptions on your phone or touch, and only sync with mobile me. That solves the duplications. But it creates more work for you.

  • Sync 2 macbook pros / iPhone / iCal / Entourage

I can't seem to get the right settings. I have a work MacBook Pro, a Home MacBook Pro and an iPhone. The work MacBook Pro has Entourage on it. When I sync all these together I end up with duplicated iCal appointments. Like it will tell me 3 or 4 times I have the same appointment at 3 on Monday. How do I set up all the iCal, Entourage, iPhone and both macs so this duplication is eliminated. Thanks in advance.

  • IPhone iCal duplicates after iOS 8 upgrade

I just recently upgraded my wife's iPhone 5s with iOS 8.  The upgrade went great with the exception of the iCal shows duplicates of all events.  I checked to make sure the "calendars" were only showing the calendar on iCloud.  I also checked the settings/mail to ensure nothing was duplicated.  I backed up and restored the iPhone and it didn't solve the problem.  Any ideas?

Then try going to Settings>iCloud on your wife's phone, turn Calendars off, choose Delete from My iPhone when prompted (they will still be in iCloud), then turn Calendars back on.  See if that fixes things.

  • IPhone iCal bug- appointments suddenly 1 hour off

After 2 days of searching and 1 hour on tech support, I've concluded Apple has a bug with iCal on iPhone that still needs to be addressed.
I realized 2 days ago after missing a scheduled conference call that my iCal appointments on my iPhone (3GS) were all showing 1 hour ahead AFTER March 23 (that FYI did NOT coincide with the recent shift to Daylight Savings Time, which I originally thought could be the culprit).
I'm a seasoned Mac/iPhone user (one of the early adopters of iPhone) and this iCal problem just showed up out of the blue.
I searched Apple Discussions and found other instances of this in recent years, and tried every recommended fix:
--Ensured all time zone settings on Mac and iPhone were correct and matched at EST/New York (general AND iCal)
--Tried toggling time zone support off then on again on iPhone
--Tried turning time zone support on and off, in every conceivable combination, on both Mac and iPhone
--Tried posting new entries on the Mac iCal, but same problem: a new 5pm ET appointment on Mac showed up as 6pm on iPhone
    --Rebooted
After an hour of troubleshooting, the tech support person today said the only thing they could suggest is a complete restore of iPhone, NOT using previously stored info-- meaning, among other things, many text messages of sentimental value to me would be lost forever.
Eventually, my Mac iCal entries got messed up too, overridden by the incorrect iPhone ones (fortunately only after March 23).
Ready to give up, I tried changing "bad" appointment times on the iPhone to see if Mac iCal would match them upon sync. THEY DID!
So then I deleted every single appointment on my Mac iCal after March 23, created entirely new appointments (putting correct time for each in the title for every entry in case this happens again), then synched: For now, everything matches.
I've lost about 5 hours on this that I didn't have to spare.
APPLE: PLEASE INVESTIGATE THIS. My iPhone is my "Blackberry"-- I rely on it for work and tell other PC "power users" that it's totally reliable. This has shaken my faith...

    bruce1964,
Are your Mac, go to the Date & Time preferences. Is it set to set date and time automatically, and pulling time information from Apple Americas/U.S. Time?
    Is the Time Zone correct?
    Hope this helps,
    Nathan C.

  • Entries on iPhone ical not showing up on computer

Just switched to iCloud.  My iPhone 4 is not sending new appointments to the cloud and they are not showing up on my macbook's calender or the one I can get online.
Is there a way to fix this?

First, be sure you are using the same iCloud account on both your Mac (iCal application) and your iPhone (Calendar app).
Second, be sure you are using an iCloud calendar when you create an entry. Both your Mac and your iPhone probably have multiple calendars, some "On My iPhone" and others "iCloud" – you must choose one within the iCloud group.

  • I cannot get iPhone iCal Data to sync to MacBookI started using iCal on my

I started using iCal on my iPhone, and since I liked it, I decided I would stop using a paper calendar. However, I can't seem to get the iCal data on my iPhone moved over to the iCal on my MacBook. I have connected my iPhone to my MacBook, opened up iTunes, checked that my calendars be synced, but repeatedly the data is not showing up on my MacBook iCal. What do I need to do to get this info from my iPhone to my Macbook?

  • IPhone - ICAl - Days of week order

For a while I had 1 Ical synched with my iphone. The days of week started with Sunday. I now have 4 Icals set up and all start with Sunday which is set via my ICAL Pref. On mobile me, my calendars start with Sunday. For some reason, my phone starts with Monday and I have not figured out how to change. Any ideas? Appreciated.

On your iPhone, go to Settings > General > International. What do you have selected for Region Format?
If you are in the U.S. and you want the days of the week to start with Sunday with the Month view, you should have United States selected for your Region Format.

  • Iphone ical sync producing multiple entries

I am having big trouble syncing my iphone with my iCal on my mac.  It used to work perfectly, and I can't figure out what changed.  Any calendar entries added to iCal produce at least two duplicate entries on my iphone once synced.
Please, please, please, somebody help me before I jump!

I am having the same problem. The first time I synched my iCal to my iPhone when I bought it, everything worked fine. Once I added a new event to the iCal, it does not sync any more. Anything I add on the iPhone does sync to the iCal, but anything added on my iCal does not sync to the iPhone.
To make matters worse, I also noted that now whatever I add to my iCal I lose when I quit out of iCal; when I reopen iCal all the new events are gone. This happens regardless of synching with my iPhone, but is a problem that developed after first synching to the iPhone.
    I have tried:
~ clearing the sync history, twice, and that did not work.
~ checking under iTunes-Info-Advanced "Replace Information on this iPhone" and checking Calendar, and that did not work.
~ deleting iTunes and re-installing it (as suggested on MacWorld http://www.macworld.com/article/134577/2008/07/iphone_sync.html) and that did not work.
I do not want MobileMe. I don't think paying for that should be the only fix for this issue.
    What else can I try?
