IPhone / iCal /itunes calendar issue

Hi all,
since updating to the latest iTunes / iPhone OS I have an issue synching the phone. It takes hours(!) when it comes to sync the calendar (I have 6 or 7, all local on my macbook pro). Contacts work fine, same with apps and music, just the calendar is going to make me crazy now.
Any suggestions?

Don't know exactly what you mean. However - it seemed as if a stuck isync process was responsible. After a reboot everything worked fine again.
Sick I simply don't reboot enough...

  • Iphone 5 Itunes Connection Issue

I have read quite a few threads about this issue but have yet to find a resolve.  I just picked up an Iphone 5 due to my 4s being dropped one too many times.  When I connected it to my Itunes, it says that I need Itunes 10.7 or later.  I downloaded 10.7 but when I went to install it, it said I need an OS of 10.6 or later (I  have 10.5.8 which for my Macbook is apparently as far as I can go.
I did not back up on Icloud before getting the new phone now I am stuck.  Can someone help me with this?  There has to be a way to get this fixed.  Upon getting my new phone my IT dept accidentally deleted all my contacts that the VZW store transferred for me by mistake.

the solution is literally right infront of you. You need to update the mac, before you can update the itunes, before you can use itunes with your iphone 5.
you can call applecare to see if your macbook will upgrade any further. 1800 my apple

    Hi KStover05,
    Welcome to Apple Support Communities.
It sounds like you're seeing an issue when trying to sync your iPhone. The article linked below describes why those alert messages appear and how to resolve issues related to them.

  • IPhone and Google Calendar issue

I'm going mental trying to figure something out here and I hope that someone can help me.
My wife and I both have an iphone, and, gmail accounts and wanted to have a calendar used by both of us so we can update different reminders and events and have them sync over the air. easy enough. Right ?
I created my calender under gmail. Set it up on my iphone, and, all is working fine. If I create an event on the gmail calendar, it gets pushed to my phone, and, it happens the other way around also. perfect. that part is good.
Now, I get my wife's phone and set hers up to "subscribe" to my calendar. All seems to work fine, but, for some reason, she isn't getting pop-up alerts on her phone when an event happens.
If I update something on my calendar, and, she opens up my calendar on her iphone, she can see that there is a new event, but, it doesn't pop-up a reminder on her phone when it's time. It kinda defeats the purpose of this utility.
I made sure on her gmail page that she has pop-up reminders on. am I missing something?
I've been subscribing and unsubscribing to my calender (with her phone for hours now) trying to figure out what Im doing wrong, and Im about to go mad.
    Any ideas?

I got it figured out. Thanks for your quick and detailed help "Randy Fast"

  • Iphone and gmail calendar issues

My gmail account is no longer connect to my iphone 5. My previous employer uses corporate gmail. I am with a new employer and when I create an event, it sends it to my old employer. I have tried several things. There contact information is not stored in my phone. Any Suggestions?

    Hello servergirl,
You may need to remove the old account from the list of calendar servers in Settings -> Mail, Contacts, Calendars.

  • IPhone Leap year calendar issues anyone?

Is anyone having a problem with scheduling meetings in outlook for February 29th and then they show up on the iPhone as March 1st instead?  Is there something that is not configured right because of leap year?

I have a reoccurring appoint that happens every wednesday. But I noticed yesterday that it put that appointment on  Tuesday - Feb 28th instead of Feb 29th. When you open up the event it says:
    "Tuesday, 28 Feb, 2012
from 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM
    repeats every week on Wednesday"
I'm quite sure I didn't add a single instance of this event on the Tuesday. I'm a software developer and took a guess that the weekly event falling on Feb 29th of a leap year was the most likely culprit of this bug.
Note that I used the iCloud control panel to push out my events from Outlook to iCloud a couple of weeks ago. So the logic error could be in that software. Or in Outlook, or in Google (as I used to synch my google calendar to outlook before going to iCloud). But I doubt it was caused by Outlook or Google calendar. No proof of that, just my gut feeling.

  • The last time I synced my iphone with itunes, I lost all my contacts, photos, calendar, and voice memos. This time I lost all my apps and the music isn't synced. Also, I just bought an ipad, and it won't sync at all.

The last time I synced my iphone to itunes, I lost all my contact info, photos, calendar, and voice memos. This time I still have them, but I lost all the apps I had downloaded. Also, I just bought an ipad, and itunes does not recognize it.

Or better yet... try a search, I'm certain you'll find a solution to whatever issue you're experiencing.

  • How can I sync "On My Mac" iCal calendars on Snow Leopard with iPhone and Google Calendar?

    Hi,
(I've done a lot of searching for a clear answer but without success.)
Can someone please advise how I can get the "On My Mac" calendars on iCal v4.0.4 (running under Snow Leopard 10.6.8) to sync with an iPhone and Google Calendars,  'over the air' (i.e. not via iTunes) and both ways (two-way syncing).
There was a great bit of software called Spanning Sync which did it all but it's now discontinued. I'm running Snow Leopard and do NOT want to upgrade to OS Lion.
I've tried the iCloud route but it just creates an extra set of "@me.com" calendars under the "On My Mac" calendars - it is not syncing the "On My Mac" calendars themselves (and I want to use the "On My MAc" calendars as the master dataset (the 'Truth database' to use an Apple term!).
... And the same happens when I try to sync my Google Calendars: another set of "@google.com" calendars appear.
Now instead of 2 calendars in iCal I have 6: 2 On My Mac calendars, 2 iCloud ones, and 2 Google ones. (This is not progress Apple!)
    Hope someone can advise.
    Many thanks.

Thanks Winston.  I'm aware that the 'on my mac' calendar doesn't get picked up by iCloud.  I'm wondering whether anyone can help with the best alternative solution for synchronisation of phone and Outlook.

  • Sync of iCal to Calendar in iPhone off by 1 hour

This problem has just come up in a 2 week old iPhone 3GS. When I enter new events in iCal and sync with iPhone, the times are one hour later in Calendar. Appears to match the advance in 1 hour of Daylight Savings Time from Nov. - March. So, entering event on Dec. 1 at 8 AM in iCal yields 9 AM event in Calendar. Help!

I had the same problem of a 1 hour offset between events on iCal/MobileMe calendars and the iPhone Cal. iCal and MobileMe calendars were right with respect to each other but the iPhone would show that event as an hour later.
I seem to have solved this issue by the following:
Go to iPhone Settings>Mail,Contacts,Calendars>Calendars>Time Zone Support
Change Time Zone Support selector to "OFF" then back to "ON".
    Exit Settings
    NB: NOT Settings>General>Date & Time
My Time Zone Support selector was "on", however Time Zone showed Etc/GMT -4
When I selected Time Zone Support to "off" and then back to "on", Time Zone changed to show "New York" (my local area). Calendar events then displayed the same times as iCal/MobileMe.

  • Curious... Syncing Issues Between iPhone and iTunes?

Just curious... the past several months I have noted various concerns around "syncing" between iPhone and iTunes... yet don't recall any mention of whether it occurs between MAC OS or WIN hardware (desktops and or laptops). Furthermore, I am interested if anyone can comment whether these sync issues occurs mostly on TIGER or LEOPARD OS when accessing iTUNES. (Guess I should pay more attention to the noted OS field.
I ask because I am considering an upgrade to LEOPARD by end of month and don't want to jeopardize my syncing to my iPhone if it is a LEOPARD related issue. Thank you

I'm running Leopard and I've never experienced any sync issues.
These discussions include mostly problems, which is what these discussions are for - a user to user support forum for technical support issues and questions.
Which particular issue are you referring to?
Before installing a major OS X upgrade such as Leopard over a previous OS X version, it is a good idea to create or update your existing backup of important data stored on your computer's hard drive - including your iTunes library, photos, contact info, calendar events, documents, etc. I've never experienced any problems installing a major OS X upgrade over a previous OS X version, but I always update my computer's backup immediately beforehand to be on the safe side.

  • Syncing Calendars with iPhone via iTunes

On my iPhone I have calendars from my MobileMe Account and calendars from the sync function in iTunes. This has given my duplicates in many instances. So now I've gone into iTunes to check my settings and see that iCal calendars are only to be synced using MobileMe. Thinking a iTunes sync with no calendars selected would fix this problem, I refigured those settings with only one calendar selected. However, it is taking forever for Calendars to sync with my iPhone.
    What is going on here?

Turned Calendar Syncing on my iPhone off then back on again. When the iPhone asked to merge calendars I said yes. Fixed the problem.

  • Can Not Sync Contacts and Calendar to iPhone Since iTunes Upgrade to 7.6

Hello, I have an iPhone and iTunes installed on my PC--which is running Windows XP Home Edition 2002 SP2, and I only sync my Contacts and Calendar using the sync functionality through iTunes and MS Outlook 2007. I was on iTunes 7.4 and everything worked fine. I just upgraded to iTunes 7.6, and now I can not get my new contacts and calendar info from Outlook to sync with my iPhone anymore. I get this error message:
    The program "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support\bin\OutlookSyncClient.exe" --sync com.apple.Outlook --entitynames com.apple.calendars.Attendee,com.apple.calendars.Calendar,com.apple.calendars.D isplayAlarm,com.apple.calendars.Event,com.apple.calendars.Organizer,com.apple.ca lendars.Recurrence,com.apple.calendars.Task caused a problem and is going to close.
Is anyone familiar or know of the solution?
    Thanks!

Thanks, but as I've said I've tried all of that described in the reference you've kindly given. I don't have a local cache, and hence no PST files. The only one I have is an OST file which I have checked for integrity using the Microsoft supplied tools. I have switched to local PST (a suggestion given in another thread), and found that not to work either, so have switched back to non cached. I have even renamed the OST file to .BAK, and had it rebuilt. Again to no avail. There is a bona fide bug here. The http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=306635 article does only say "This may be due to the format of the Outlook Personal Storage File (.PST)", so I guess as the operative word is "may", its not a guarantee of this being the solution.
Also I'm not syncing my contacts, I'm only doing the calendar nothing else.
Additionally, this used to work, so your hypothesis, of the "bad data", being synced in 7.6 and then not being able to be subsequently budged is a definate goer I think. But the trick would be to work out what the bad data is. I'm assuming the source of the bad data is the iphone, so I've deleted old calendar in outlook entries I know to have come from the iPhone, that has, as yet, been a fruitless exercise.
I do thank you though for your help though, I'll be scouring the internet for any tidbits of information which might help, and I'll post them back here if I find the solution, or anything which may help others unfortunate enough to be in this situation.

  • Google calendar event color tags not showing up in IPhone iCal - any fixes?

I have an iPhone 4 (iOS 5.1.1) and am trying to sync my google calendar to the built in iCal app. The events sync both ways, but the color tags I assign to each event does not sync. It used to bother me that the only way to color code events in google calendar was to create multiple calendars, but it seems as though google calendar has added the ability to change the color for each event so I'm going back to google calendar. For example, my classes are in blue, exams are in pink, meetings are turquoise, etc.
I synced my google calendar to the iPhone iCal (via settings, turned on calendar tab listed under gmail account that I use for my google calendar), and all the events sync correctly (can add events on google calendar or iPhone and it syncs), but the colors do not sync. When I view my iPhone iCal all the events from my google calendar are the same color, even if they have different color tags when viewed online. Also, when I add an event on the iPhone iCal, the event syncs to the google calendar but there is no option to change the color tag for the event and it shows up as the default grey color when viewed online.
Is there a way to fix this? Or is this something that google and apple have not resolved?
I would prefer not to use a third party app, but I might consider it if there is no other fix. Thanks!

Hello lulu and welcome to the Palm forums.
I don't know of a way to make the color codes from iCal sync with the color codes on the Palm Z22. The Missing Sync for Palm OS has more features than Palm Desktop, but I also don't believe it will sync the category color codes.

  • IOS 5 iPhone duplicating some calendar events when iCal events on iMac have no duplicates

I've searched in vain on these forums but can't find a problem quite like mine.  I am running
    - iPhone 4 with iOS 5.0.1
    - iMac with Lion OS X 10.7.2
I was using iCloud for all my calendars but found that my phone battery was draining very quickly, so decided to go back to using the iMac to sync to all devices.  I exported all my calendars (seven of them) from iCloud through iCal/File/Export/Export, and then imported them as new calendars.  I deleted my iCloud account on my phone and iCal. I then synced from iMac to iPhone and all went perfectly, except for my primary calendar (typical...).
All events for all calendars appear perfectly in iCal on the iMac.  But  my primary calendar, on my iPhone only, has duplicated nearly all the events in it.  There doesn't seem to be any pattern to those events that AREN'T duplicated - some are annual, all-day recurrences, some are one-offs.
I've tried deleting the cache and the plist from the iMac library (even though, yes, the iMac iCal appears to be working perfectly), then resetting the iPhone, and resyncing - using the 'replace information on this iPhone' option for Calendars.  No luck.  I've tried re-exporting the calendar from iCloud, then re-importing, then resyncing to the iPhone.  Each time it duplicates on the iPhone, but not on the iMac.
Weird - and this is driving me mental.
I'm guessing the calendar might be corrupted or something - is there an equivalent plist or something that I can try deleting from the iPhone?  This has gotten beyond my skills!
    Pleeeeaaaassssee heeeelp!

    Update:
I ended up going through the duplicate entries on the iPhone and manually deleting the second entry in each instance. I re-synced to iMac, and the duplicate entries stayed deleted, and nothing appears changed on the iMac calendars.
I then synced iPhone 3GS and iPad 2 to iMac, doing the same process with the calendars.  I noticed that I had missed one duplicated entry on my iPhone originally, and that this had transferred to each of the other machines too (ie they all had two identical entries for the same thing) (but not on the iMac, still).  Deleted the second of the duplicates again on the iPhone, synced everything, and it was gone from all.
So all in all, not a brilliant fix, but a successful one nonetheless - although it remains to be seen whether the duplicates will reappear at some point, as I've noticed other users have had that problem in some circumstances.  I'd love to hear if anyone has any brilliant thoughts regarding this, though.

  • IPhone to Exchange calendar sync issues

OK, I have read through many posts on here, but have yet to find a post that describes my situation. If someone has seen this answered in other places, please let me know.
I currently have the following setup:
iPhone 2.2.1, using OTA sync with Exchange
    Entourage 2008 (not Outlook/Windows)
Exchange server 2007 (at work, I am not the guy who runs it)
My mail and contacts work fine.
CALENDAR issue for me is something I can't quite wrap my head around:
I get syncs fine for calendar when accepted through Entourage - but when they are updated by the original senders I get multiple entries for every event showing up on my phone (the old events aren't removed). In addition, my phone does not sync back to the Exchange server when I accept invitations, nor when I create entries in my calendar.
    Thoughts?

This problem is only something I've had problems with recently. Previously entries in the Calendar would sync OK regardless of where they were created or accepted. So appointments I logged on the road into the phone would work back into Exchange and onto Entourage.
Two things have changed. Our Exchange server was upgraded and how has Active Sync which means I now get push notifications which is great. I've also gone up to the 3.01 software on the iPhone.
Now, it seems I am ONLY getting push from Exchange to the iPhone. Calendar entries from Entourage appear on the phone.
Any calendar entries created on the phone or invites accepted on the phone stay on the phone. They are not synced back to Exchange and onto my Entourage calendar.
As someone who is office based for only a few days a month, effective Calendar sync is vital.
If the problem is with the OS update on the phone then this fix needs to be part of 3.02. If the problem lies with the Active Sync setup then I need some instructions to go back to our Sys Admins with.
    Thanks!
