Iphone iCloud restore with wrong version of iOS
I am trying to restore my iphone from my iCloud backup. (I had to have the innards replaced after getting it wet.) I have logged in with my iCloud account. It gives my last iphone backup as 8 December 2014 and that is the one I want to use. But it says that iOS .8.1.2 is required, and that the phone only has iOS 8.0.2 on it. The only backup it will let me use is from 9 April 2014. I really don't want to use that one!! How do I get the phone to upgrade the iOS? Do I have to set it up as a new phone? Can I then pull down my iCloud backup later if I do that? I'm confused.
you can set up the device as new
once connected to wifi do the update from settings>software update
After update,
settings>general>erase all content and settings
and it will give u an option to restore from iCloud back up again

My iPhone has just been replaced and I am trying to restore from iCloud but its saying no backups are compatible with the version of IOS 6.0.1. My back iOS are IOS 6.1. Can you update the phone first then restore?
Welcome to the Apple Community.
Yes, update first, Settings > General > Software Update.
Then navigate to Settings > General > Reset > Erase all contents and settings on the device you want to restore.
When this completes and the Set-Up Assistant starts, choose "Restore from iCloud Backup" and enter your iCloud account and password. You will see the three most recent backups for each of the devices on which you enabled Backup. Choose which backup to restore from. -

I am trying to back up my fiels from old iPhone 3S to the new one I have just bought using iCloud and when I am doing it, my new iphone 5 is writing thet iCloud back-up are compatible with the version of iOS (6.0.2) on this iPhone. What does it mean?
I just worked on this same issue for someone else at work (iPhone 4 or 4S up to date). The iPhone 5 needs to be up to date to the newest version of IOS
Here is what I did:
1. Got into the iPhone 5 without using an account
2. After getting in, it shows that there is an update
3. Completed the update
4. After the phone rebooted, went in and completed a reset of the phone to factory
5. When it came back up followed prompts and was able to restore from iCloud backup.
Hope this helps -
I've got a new iPad and am trying to do an iCloud backup but keep getting the following message: no iCloud backups are compatible with the version of iOS (6.1.3) on this iPad.
How do I restore info from iCloud onto my new device? You would have to update your device first, before you can restore your iPad from your backup. Resolution: set it up as anew device, then update your device to the latest version "Settings > General > Updates", then reset your device again "Settings > General > Reset > Erase All Content and Settings" and then after the iPad restarts again, choose to restore your device from your backup.

Trying to set up new 5s from icloud backup on 4s. when i select "restore from backup" the current backup on my 4s (today) is gray and cannot be selected. the msg on the bottom: "No icloud backups are compatible with the version of ios (7.0.6) on this phone. 4s ios is 7.1 with no updates available. help?
You will have to first update your new iPhone 5s to iOS 7.1 before you can use your iPhone 4s backup.
Set it up as new, do the update (Settings > General > Software Update) and then re-enter setup by erasing the phone (settings > General > Reset > Erase all Content and Settings). -
My iPhone 5 with latest version of iOS 6 won't receive some text messages (not iMessages)
My IPhone 5 with latest version of ios 6 won't receive some text messages. All text messages not received are from different people on the same carrier (not mine). Some messages come through if they repeatedly send them. I have tried resetting network settings. This fixes the issue for 10 minutes or so before I don't receive the messages again. I dont have iMessage on and I've tried a restore.
Hi,
I had the same issue.
After resetting the network settings everything works fine again.
YouTube App and the videos you posted above didn't play.
After resetting, they are playable.
Try it out.

Hellow every one. i just updated my iphone 5 with the ios7. unfortunately i experience different type of bugs...the most important one to me is that the itunes store do not open at all. i'm disappointed with this version of iOS. my itunes version is updated and my mc version is also updated
my question is: how can i make itues store to work? how can i go back to the previous version of ios?Upgrade to Snow Leopard - it's compatible with the latest version of iTunes, and still supports PowerPC applications.
$19.99 - http://store.apple.com/us/product/MC573Z/A/mac-os-x-106-snow-leopard
Snow Leopard is required if you wanted to upgrade to Lion, anyway, which you may want to in the future if the latest version of iTunes no longer supports Snow Leopard. -
Restoring from older version of ios
My iCloud backup isn't compatible with the version of IOS on my new phone - how can I restore my settings?
Update the iOS on your new phone, set it up as a new device, then go to Settings>General>Reset, tap Erase All Content and Settings, go through the setup screens and when given the option, choose Restore from iCloud Backup and follow the prompts. You will be able to restore it this time.
Be sure the phone is connected to wifi and your charger while it is restoring the backup.

Seems I entered question in subject field? Here's the question:
iPhone 4S, the last two versions of IOS: I receive a text, in iMessage, reply, get error message instructing me to use valid 10 digit number. Only this person. I've deleted and re-entered her contact info - still cant send txt. What's up? ATT says they've never seen this. I have previously texted successfully with this person and she's changed nothing on her end.The fix for this problem is easy and is set out here: http://edctips.blogspot.com/2014/09/fixing-iphone-texting-problem.html

good day. as I can do to update my iphone 4 to the latest version of ios 5. whenever you connect to the pc and try to update the waiting time is very long, sometimes up to 12 hours and despite the wait always produce an error message for a long time waiting
Disable ALL security software (firewall, antivirus/spyware, etc.) running on your PC while updating.

I have Windows 8 and Itunes 64 bit. Not able to synch any iphones or ipads with this version.
A Google search should provide a number of instructional links.

What is the battery average of the iPhone 4S running with the 5.1 IOS ?
So... what is the battery average of the iPhone 4S running with the 5.1 IOS ?
I don't spend time worrying about my "average" battery life. To figure that out, I'd need to keep track of exactly how long it took my battery to run down. I'd need to run the battery down every time. I'd need to do this for weeks to get any valid data. I have a life. I charge my phone at night and take it off in the morning. If I need or get the chance to charge it some other time, I do.

I recently lost my iPhone 5 and purchased a refurbished one on line, I'm trying to backup by iCloud to the new phone but when I get to the "Choose backup" screen I'm told "No iCloud backups are compatible with the version (7.1) on this iPhone". My previous iPhone had up to version 8.1.3. Now I'm stuck in the backup screen and can't get back to settings. How can I finish the backup and how do I get out of backup mode to possibly update to the version I need?
Hi AppleRobertion,
What you are going to need to do here is update your iPhone's version of the operating system to a version at least as new as the one on your backup - iOS 8.1.3. To do this, follow the directions in this article -
If your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch doesn't respond or doesn't turn on - Apple Support
Specifically -
Make sure that you have iTunes 12 or later on your computer.
Put your device in recovery mode.
When you get the option to restore or update, select Update. This will reinstall iOS without erasing your data.
Once the update is complete you should be able to restore from your backup.
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
Sincerely,
Brett L
