  • How do I resurrect my iPhone in recovery mode? what does it mean and how do I make it recover?

How do I resurrect my iPhone in recovery mode? what does it mean and how do I make it recover?
    Please help. Appreciate your assistance.

It just means that you want to reset it for some technical reason by holding down the lock and home button for a few seconds till it shuts downs and the apple logo pops up which then you let go. Note: nothing on your phone will be deleted.

  • I can't update my iPhone 3G... It's stuck on recover mode.

I wanted to update my iPhone 3G so I connected to iTunes and it popped up there a newer version of this software would you like to download? I clicked yes, it transferred the purchases and started downloading.. It downloaded the up date but put my phone it restore mode so now iTunes says "iTunes has detected an iPhone in recovery mode please recover to work with iTunes" so I click recover and update.. It goes to extracting files then preparing iPhone for recovery then right there I keep getting errors.. Errors such as (-1), 1603, and 1604 I've troubleshooted them and none of those steps worked.. I've called apple and they emailed me stuff that I read when I troubleshooted ... So if anybody knows how I can  get the phone working again it would be much appreciated.. And if need too know I am running on windows xp with iTunes 11.0.1

Google "Error 1015" and you will find a solution.

but when i try to restore again an error occures.
CaN anybody help me please as im new user of this phone.

Error 1015: This error is typically caused by attempts to downgrade the iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch's software. This can occur when you attempt to restore using an older .ipsw file. Downgrading to a previous version is not supported. To resolve this issue, attempt to restore with the latest iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch software available from Apple. This error can also occur when an unauthorized modification of the iOS has occurred and you are now trying to restore to an authorized, default state.  Very rarely this error is caused by a hardware issue and requires service.

  • How do I get out of an iphone restoration loop, itunes keeps saying it has detected an iphone in restore mode and that it must check for software updates and reinstall the ios, it completes this process and then says: detected iphone in restore mode etc.,

Background: my iphone 3gs was running wonderfully - no issues at all, as normal.
I let the power run down to critical and got the empty battery screen - plugged it in and when it had enuf juice it displayed the cord-to-itunes-of-death-screen...
I had just backed up the previous to icloud so no worries... I just plugged in and thought ok this will just take a second...it completed the restore then said with a glazed amnesic font "Itunes has detected an iPhone in recovery mode, and has never seen or restored this iphone ever before, since this is a stranger iphone, itunes does not trust it and must call the ipolice to check for contraban in its orifices and cavities, you must restore"... kidding of course... but
OMG at home I did the whole restore process no less than 20 times while optimizing and accounting for different variables each time (restoring on a new system with a fresh OS, trying to restore and a mac, restoring then restarting empty cache, restart unistall itunes then restore restart restore, installing an older version of Itunes and restoring. going back to Vista and restoring), and every single time it would complete the check, the update/check, the ios reinstall, and then whatever else and say "complete"... and then no icon menu would appear for the device in itunes so unplug the phone and replug and get the whole "Itunes must render restore aid" message. SO I went to the genuis bar at my local iBoutique thrice - each time the bewildered but very courteous and knowledgable genuis wanted to keep trying ... since I had been on this treadmill for about two weeks I decided each time to respect my fellow appletonians and not suck up genius time... but I really want my old 3gs back... why - I like that it amazes the youth who occaisonal are puzzled by seeing something apple that they don't recognize and in wonder and amazement at its age they learn that even though its no longer invited to iOS family gatherings that it still can call home and ask why Apple waited so long when it was a kid to give it copy-paste ability like all the other kids, then ask for money for the shrink bill.. ... . . ..

Soooooooo.... You obviously need to restore the device
It seems that you have tried several options to restore it. What I would do is leave it plugged it and hold down the Home button AND the Power button together till you see the white apple appears. Then let go of the Power button but continue to hold the home button. You should get the message in iTunes again saying that the iPhone needs to be restored. Hit OK then RESTORE.
    Hope this helps!!

  • HT2417 Iphone model MC608LL.  Why won't it switch back to ringer from vibrate?

Have 3G Iphone model MC608LL.  Why won't it switch back to ringer from vibrate?  Local repair shop said it was a software issue.  AT&T store said to back it up and update OS version.  Did all that.  The switch still won't take it off vibrate.

    - How did you delete it?  If you used Settings>General>Reset>Erase all Content and Settings without the iPod being charged you could have completely drained the battery.
    - After charging for at least half an hour try resetting the iPod:
Reset iPod touch:  Press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home
button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Next, after the charging above, place the iPod in recovery mode and try to restore it via iTunes.  For recovery mode see:

  • Update Sent iPhone into Recovery Mode

A friend told me about the update so I connected my iPhone to my computer and chose "Update." I got an error that ended with my phone in "Recovery Mode." iTunes recognizes it as an iPhone in recovery mode and I choose "Restore" but what seems to be most of the way through the restore I get an error saying (direct quote) "The iPhone "iPhone" could not be restored. An unknown error occurred (6)." After I first had problems I updated iTunes, but that didn't help. I'm on hold with phone support. I've yet to talk to anyone.

I also experienced the "recovery mode" issue. After distilling some of the recent posts here and related topics, here's what I found worked for me. (1) Delete iTunes 7.6 update, download and install iTunes 7.6 from Apple's website. (Good idea to back up your iTunes library just in case). (2) If you have tried several restores of the iPhone without success, navigate to //user/library and delete the several backup files there. (3) Reset your iPhone (simultaneously press home and power key until Apple logo appears). Turn iPhone off (press power key until screen blanks). (4) Plug in your iPhone and you'll hopefully see that the software and firmware is being restored. (This takes a while). After that, you'll see the message that your iPhone files are being restored, however you have them set in iTunes. One note -- though I'm not sure why, having your iPhone plugged directly into your machine's USB port rather than through a hub may prevent device polling from corrupting the iPhone restore process. This worked for me -- not sure if similar process would work on Windows boxes or not. After about an hour of messing with it, now have updated iPhone fully functional (again) with new features.

  • First iPhone 4S Recovered by Please Return Me

What do you guys think of this? Have you heard of Please Return Me?
    KALAMAZOO, Michigan – October 19, 2011
Today, Please Return Me has recovered its first iPhone 4S.  The iPhone was recovered, much to owner Robert Forgey’s surprise, in a bar near Western Michigan University.  Rob recalled having had a few beers last night at the University Roadhouse on W. Michigan Ave but has no idea how or when the phone was actually lost.
Rob’s new 64GB iPhone 4S is the newest and most expensive of the Apple iPhone product line.  The Kalamazoo resident who stated he was “devastated when he realized his phone wasn’t in his pocket” had gotten his new smartphone just 2 days earlier at the local Best Buy.  After opting to get Best Buy’s insurance plan, which covers everything but lost and stolen items, Rob decided Please Return Me labels would be the perfect supplement to his insurance.
Rob, who was staying with his girlfriend after his evening at the bar, woke up to discover a text from Please Return Me on her phone, which had been listed as an alternate number on his account.  He immediately used her smartphone to visit the ‘Claim Item’ link provided in the text.
Please Return Me immediately provided Rob with the contact information provided by the returner who wishes to remain anonymous. Rob picked the phone up from the returner later this morning.  “Without the label, I’m sure I’d be shelling out $649 at the Apple store” said the happy student.
Congrats Rob and thank you for the pictures!

And this is related to the iphone how? This is a third party sticker so I don't see why it is relavant in these user forums.
