IPhone in Sri Lanka?

I was wondering why none of our current carriers in Sri Lanka offer the iPhone 4 or the iPhone 4S. I have been following the news and all for a long time and honestly excited to finally get the iPhone but why isnt our country listed in any of the releases? Will it be released in our country at least with the iPhone 4S?

it is not possible. I donot suggest you trying to use some hacking programs to make an US unit work there as I am sure there is a difference between US models and EU models regarding software and hardware (I could be wrong in this). Wait a while to see what other users in EU go thru before you try some radical things.

I have iphone 4 and i used it for a one and half years.i used it in sri lanka and doha qatar,recently i update it i.o.s 7, then it was working.after i.o.s 7.0.3 came i again updeted it and now my phone network is not working.now phone is locked.pls help.

I am seeing if I can get another battery even though I do not believe that is the issue. It keeps giving me vdd_under which I believe is under voltage, maybe it is just a faulty battery? It charges up like normal and functions normal (when plugged in, or above 90%) but it gives under voltage warnings and shuts down when in heavy use (using camera or going back and forth to imessage). When just sitting idle it doesn't seem to turn off until that 55-60% mark. It may just be a faulty battery because I feel I installed all of the other cables correctly when replacing the screen, and I don't think those connections should affect the battery anyway except for maybe the logic board cable (the 2nd cable to be unplugged after the battery cable) I guess I could clean that out as well with isopropyl just in case.
Any other suggestions would be helpful... and I will get back to you if a new battery helps. Thanks!

There are no supported carriers at all in Sri Lanka, much less carriers that support LTE on the iPhone there.
You can't overcome this until your carrier has their LTE network tested and certified as compatilbe by Apple and a carrier update is issued to support it.

Sorry to tell you this, but that phone is NOT unlocked. It's still locked to AT&T. ONLY AT&T can authorize unlocking it. Contact them and find out if you qualify.

FaceTime is not available for iPhones purchased in Saudi Arabia as stated in this article: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1937
So unfortunately that iPhone will never have FaceTime.

So the bottom line is, you've run into Activation Lock. You have no options other than to get those original credentials. (I have to admit I did not read your too-long story) You don't need his password, he just needs to log into icloud.com with his credentials and remove the device in question from Find My iPhone.

The iphone is a world phone, compatible with any GSM network. Where did you buy your phone? Perhaps your phone is "locked" to a carrier network other than what's available where you live.

Your iPhone has become re-locked to AT&T. Sell it and buy an iPhone locally
(or in neighboring country that sells unlocked iPhone). AT&T will not unlock
iPhones for anyone under any circumstances.
Or put the AT&T sim back in the iPhone and be prepared for very expensive
roaming charges.

I know facetime is blocked on MC605AE models. but my Problem is i was in saudi for a trip when iPhone 4 was released and bought one. now i use it in Sri Lanka and there is no FaceTime on it. its unfair for not to have such a feature all because i bought it from Saudi. is there any solution for this.

Sorry, no. FaceTime has been permanently removed from all iPhones sold in Saudi Arabia. This is done at the request of the Saudi government. So, if you think that's not fair, complain to the Saudi government.

There really is no way to tell from the phone itself. It really is something you needed to determine from the original seller before you bought it. If buying used, ask the seller where they got it from and to provide proof of the original purchase. But, basically, if you buy used, you take the risk of whether it will work as you wish or not.
The only way to be really safe and sure is to buy a new unlocked phone from Apple.
You can call Apple and they may be able to tell you it is or is not in their unlock database - I do not know if they will provide that kind of information so you'd need to call them and ask.
