IPhone in US and in UK

The iPhone is coming out in the UK in early November, serviced by O2 in a similar way it is now being serviced by ATT/Cingular in the States. Here's my question: if I already have an iPhone in America, but spend a significant enough time in the UK (I'm a student there) that I also already keep a cell phone there that just happens to have O2 service, can I use my iPhone in both countries on both networks? I know that the SIM-lessness of the iPhone won't just let me switch out chips, but is there another way to switch networks?

The iPhone uses an AT&T SIM card, which the US phone is locked to. The UK phones will be locked to a O2 card.
While you can easily swap the sim cards in the phone, I doubt there is any way that you can have the US phone use the O2 sim without unlocking the phone and thus breaking your warranty - and most likely your phone.

Two of them seem to be remarkably similar, and one appears to be only for my MacBook.I think I know which one my iPhone is backing up to, as I successfully restored from a back-up last week. You cannot merge accounts.

On 3G we cannot send emails from either our iPhones or iPad and this also happens with some WiFi connections but not all. Yet we can always send emails from our Hotmail Email account. What is causing this and what do we need to do to resolve it?

We bought the iPhones and Ipad so that we could send emails while we are out of the Office, but we are not able to do this unless we can find a WiFi connection. Incoming emails are fine. We use IMAP, for Business emails just incase this is relevant and I know that Hotmail is POP3.
Our technical IT knowledge is not great, so we look forward to your suggestions as to how to resolve this.

Contact whomever supports the email account and get the correct Outgoing email server settings from them.

Both of those functions are carrier dependent so you may want to contact your cellular carrier.

Correct. it does not magially appear in other places. It will only be where you put it.

Correct as well. Iphone will sync with one computer at a time. Syncing to another will erase the current content.
You need to copy everything ( itunes library/contacts/pics/calendars/files/docs) from the old computer, or your backup copy of the old one, to the new one.

First I sent them from iPhoto with highest resolution, then I transferred them to my desktop in highest resolution and added them to an email, opened the email and saved to my Camera roll. They all look like low resolution photos.This is the exact method I have used to transfer photos in the past with my 4S and never had a problem. What am I doing wrong? Is this a bad camera? My husband has the same phone, we purchased them at the same time. I sent him the same photos in the same email that I downloaded them from and on his phone they show up with the normal higher resolution. Is it possible that there is something wrong with my iPhone or is there a setting that can be changed? I'm still learning to use it. All my other photos are of normal resolution. Does this make any sense to anyone?

After looking at a few of the links I found a mathematical equation that assisted me.
Inches = Pixels/DPI
eg: 3 inches = 300 pixels/100 DPI
Using this equation and the fact that iPhone 4s takes photos that are 3264 x 2448 I was able to work out the largest print I could make with 300 DPI.
Width 3264 pix/ 300 DPI = 10.88 inches
Height 2448 pix/ 300 DPI = 8.16 inches
Therefore, the largest print (with 300DPI) I can make of these photos is 10.88 inches x 8.16 inches.
Which is great!
So is it critical for me to change the dpi in say photoshop or does it not matter as long as I don't go above the 10.88 inches x 8.16 inches?
From what I can gather the smaller I resize the photo the higher the DPI and the bigger I stretch the photo the lower the DPI?

Replying to my own post - heh. I downloaded iExplorer (http://www.macroplant.com/iexplorer/) which allowed me access to the files on the phone and there was the phantom movie in the DCIM folder. Deleted it, and all is well - although I still have 0.65gb of Other in iTunes.....

Ok, sorry. And yes, I just restored my iPhone as new and tried to put all the songs on there before I even restored with my previous backup, but it still does the same thing... even when I just checked the option to sync only "selected music or videos". How's that possible?
P.S. After I tried syncing with checked songs only, nothing showed up under Music on my phone and this message popped up in iTunes: "The iPhone "..." could not be synced because the sync session failed to finish." If you could, please tell me what that means, thanks.

Anyway, since the PC crash I bought an iMac and my office Mac was replaced by a MacBook pro. I moved my iTunes files from my office Mac to my MacBook. I moved my PC iTunes files to my iMac from my unaffected external hard drive.
I am now totally confused regarding what is authorized and what is not! Only three devices appear in my iTunes account. I "removed" the PC. Still I am told that I can't download MY apps to my new iMac because I have 5 authorized computers. Really? Actually I have NO authorized computers. Only one that has my apps still (my office Mac).

I have 3rd party software wirelessly injected and used on my iphone with a cryptographic authentication system without my consent (seems to be new technology developed by stanford and apple security is not updated for this technology) obtaining ownership of my iPhone 4s software and controlling it with remote device to jail breaking my phone, adding and removing software, changing settings all from a remotely controled device from different location (I have a Mac address I'd of this device to know for sure). Almost undetectable. When I look at the legal section of my phone it shows a list of all the unauthorized 3rd party software "as is" copyright encrypted on the phone. This is the most basic way to legally steal software of any kind. Because of this legalality 3rd party ownership have total control of certain software correlated with hardware use including visualization technology, etc. most people luckily will never have this happen to them so it's unlikely many readers have not a clue of what I'm saying currently. Either way, without needing to obtain specific warranty of any kind "as is" copyright control makes system restores not a solution because the source code is not directly encrypted on the actual hardware device only a copy right notice must appear on the specific device 3rd party software validation making it extremely difficult for me to take control of the situation. Apple claims their iOS technology prevents this type copyright obstruction from being possible, however, according to my phone a new form of technology was used developed by Tom wu of Stanford university called the STANFORD SRP AUTHENTICATION TECHNOLOGY which uses Some form of cryptographic authentication system and uses quote "secure remote password" which seems to suceed in hacking iOS apple technology apple claims is not possible to jailbreak an unstolen phone or without the owners consent As well as loading the device with 3rd party copyright Notices to make all of this legalized. My phone shows atleast 30 pages worth of legalized 3rd party copyright permissions! Yesterday my apple care provider labeled me a jailbreaker and refused to look at my legal documented proof which completely blew my mind because it voides my apple care contract I spent 100 on. This employee did not take all factors into consideration and made quick assumptions as well as verbally speaking to me as I'm an automatic criminal. I left the store yesterday with no payed insurance help on a problem I had no control over and couldn't prevent, leaving with voided contracts. This is an apple users worst nightmare and I have spent days researching all of this like i am some kind of lawyer only to be able to use my phone the way it should and spent alot of money on. I can legally backup any claim I have just wrote above currently and have a large source of data collected to prove apple is wrong in voiding insurance support on this issue. The problem lies in apple avoiding and not wanting to believe their software can legally be obtained ot "hacked". Yet still labeled a jailbreaker basically.. What should I do????? Been to local apple store 3 times and rebooted my phone as well sprint service restore 4 times and spoke with reps twiice on the phone. Spoke with my phone provider who said apple has full control over these matters so they can't help me. My case is according to apple "still open"...Anyone else heard of this or of Stanford's office of technology licensing? Maybe I need to buy a blackberry again or just use a landline so I can stop being my own lawyer and focus on other productive areas in life instead of this horrible mess. Please advise me on the steps necessary for removing these duplicates and establishing a syncing solution that doesn't regenerate the duplicates. There are several applications available that remove duplicates, but I am not sure which ones work or don't work. I want information on this, but most importantly I want to understand how to fix this problem permanently. Also, I read somewhere that Mac's new operating system, Lion, can help deal with duplicates. I don't have Lion, but I would be willing to get it, if this would fix the problem.

Had the same problem with 4 devices (two computers, an iPhone and an iPod). The solution is simple: open the Address Book application in your mac, ask it to locate duplicate entries (under one of the top menu items, "edit" I think), and then ask it to consolidate them: it took me all of three seconds after I figured it out: worked like a charm! PS: if you have more than one mac with unconected Address Books, repeating the operation in the second one may be a good idea.

You can't. There is no memory card. It uses flash memory that's soldered to the logic board. If you didn't back it up, your data is gone.
