IPhone interference with Cable receiver
So I'm trying to watch a tv show in HD (Cox Digital Cable in Northern Virginia) on my Explorer 8000HD. I've learned that whenever I click the check e-mail button on my 1st Gen iPhone, it causes the cable to cut out and all I get is a grey screen. I have to change to another channel and come back to the HD channel (Channel 727 - DSCHD) in order to resume the feed. I have been able to replicate this phenomenon on other HD channels but not to the degree of channel 727. On other channels I just get brief blockiness and loss of audio before it corrects itself.
Can anyone else replicate this?
Makes me wonder about what the phone is doing to my brain.
Its not the DVR or the TV (unless its a CRT). Its the cables that you have hooked up. Either the coaxial cable running from the wall to your DVR box is not shielded or the cable running from the DVR box to the TV is unshielded producing the signal interference. Same thing happens to my small TV in the bed room when I have my iPhone sitting on the dresser next to it. I've found that in that case it was the coaxial cable running from the wall. I have seen it mess with CRT TVs and it not be the cables. Its kind of strange though its messing with it from across the room, mine normally has to be pretty close to things to get interference.

I've recently updated my iPhone 4 to iOS 5.1
I am using the iPhone with my Pioneer VSX-920 (connected via USB) to play music which has worked perfectly on iOS 5.0 and iOS5.0.1 but with the new update there is an annoying problem.
If I play the music, it sounds like playing an old, scratchy vinyl. Each three or four seconds there is a little cracking noise in backround.
Iv'e already changed the dock connector cable and restarted the phone but without any improvement. And i've also tried my old iPod Video - everything works well.
Maybe someone knows a solution or has the same problem?I've been having this issue as well. It's not your iPhone because I have an iPhone 4S and it doesn't necessarily sound scratchy or garbled... But instead, when. I plug it in via USB into my Sony DSX-S310BTX it automatically starts playing the first album, and only moves through album by album. Even if I go into Songs >> Shuffle All and plug it in whilst playing. It will still do this.
My iPhone used to just pick up playing right when I plugged it into the stereo in IOS 5.01, but then I updated and now it does the above. Same with my wife's 5.1 iPhone, and my best friends iPhone 5.1
Any suggestions? To fix both would be great since my buddies is doing the same as OP -
Base station causing interference with cable modem
I have a late model apple airport extreme base station with time machine. The unit is placed next to the cable box (that provides phone service) that connects to the modem that connects to the base station. When the base station is turned on and working (we use wifi ) there is a nuisance noise in the phones when making and receiving a call for the first 20 to 30 seconds and then disappears. When the base station is disconnected there are no problems with the phones.
Is there such a thing as shielding for the cable box and/or modem? Or is there a simpler solution?

I use a VOIP phone system provided by the cable company (no phone filters required). The VOIP connects to an analog phone management system called Talkswitch. So I have three VOIP lines connecting to the Talkswitch box and 7 lines leaving the Talkswitch box connecting to analogue phones (wired) throughout the office. So to recap:
Cable company line connects to a VOIP Box (ARIS TM604G).
A modem (Thompson DCM475) connects to the the VOIP Box and to the Apple Extreme Base station (with Time Machine).
Three phone lines connect the VOIP Box directly to the Talkswitch Box. The Talkswitch Box is NOT connected to the Apple Base Station.
The server (Mac Mini) is wired to the Apple Base Station.
When I make or receive a call there is a buzzing sound in the line. Sound disappears after 20 to 30 seconds.
When I turn the Base Station off (disconnect) the buzzing sound disappears.
When I leave the Base Station ON and I connect a phone directly to the VOIP Box, there is no buzzing.
I can only assume that the Base Station is interfering with something. Is it the Talkswitch box or the phone cables?
Should I move the Base Station further from the Talkswitch box? or Use shielded cables (which ones)? Or is there another solution? Or is it a voltage problem?

IPhone interference with desktop speakers
I have a pair of Audioengine A5 speakers on my desk, and every time my iPhone is anywhere on the desk, it creates major/loud harmful sounding interference noise with the speakers. It happens when docked for syncing or just sitting there.
Any advise is appreciated.

TomYour speakers are not properly shielded.
Move them and the phone further apart or place the phone in airplane mode before docking.
The iPhone contains radios, even if you are not on a call the phone is communicating with the cell towers. -
AirPort interference with cable TV lines
After months and months of problems with our digital cable Time Warner came up with a new issue Iv never heard before. I get both digital cable and internet via cable. Today when they tested the lines due to problems they discovered that when my AirPort Express 802.11n is on and connected to the cable modem. That it's giving big feed back into the cable line. Tomorrow they are going to look into it again, but I wanted to see if anyone has had a similar problem.
Would the AirPort ever feedback into the cable line and modem so that it effected both the internet and digital line for the TV? I know that some wi-fi can effect other wireless equipment such as wireless phones in the house. But, I'd never heard that it could effect other things like the cable line itself.
Worst part is that when the AirPort was disconnected and turned off. You really could see a BIG spike in the line meter reading of the cable company.
Is this something new or is there a way to stop the effect?Actually you're correct in that both the high speed modem and my AirPort Express are plugged into the same power strip. I keep them separated into the power strip to protect both from any power surges. It never crossed my mind that by having the 2 in the same power strip it might have some odd effect. But, when Time Warner managers come out today to take another look into things I'll move the plugs to different places to see if there is a change.
I know the AirPort Express 802.11n does make noise on our land line wireless phones. Just never had any idea that it might have any effect on our digital TV signals.
The 2 guys that were out here yesterday were here for 3 hours trying to find a reason for the problems. Since they didn't know much about the high speed modem I heard they call their tech support people. In their exact words " There is a drop of 2 full bars when the modem is plugged into the Apple AirPort." They even changed modems to see if it was the issue, but it was the same thing. I just didn't understand why they would be losing signal or getting a feed back onto the cable line if the modem was plugged into my AirPort.
Might mean that I have to dump my AirPort or leave it off and unplugged just to watch TV.
It's a mystery to me . . .

Iphone interference with digital television set
Both mine and my daughters Iphone will cause pixellation and pausing of live tv signals over comcast in bay area. It does this when in phone mode or when accessing internet or email. The phones are about 15 feet from the TV! What does this say about radiation from the Iphone?!!
Thats pretty common among modern electronics. Same as the speaker noise we all know an love.
The iPhone passes all FCC requirements for radiation, so I wouldn't worry about the evil iPhone giving you cancer. -
iPhone 5 with iOS 8.1.2 stopped receiving mail yesterday. Have yahoo email account. Can still send emails. Have turned device off/on. Have done the dual off/on thing using top button and menu button. Issue seems to be only with main inbox, as sub folders are receiving mail. Other Apple device is not having issues like this, just on iPhone.

Your issue is with the Yahoo email account which is notoriously bad.
you can try deleting and reinstalling the email account.
If that doesn't fix it try the yahoo email app. -
i have a long-existing iPhone 4s with one apple id and started a job where I received a macbook with another apple id. how do i get my phone to sync with the Mac Pro and secondly how do i get my music on there?
No not bothered about sycing apps etc it is all about calendars and maybe notes. IN terms of how its done I just want it the easiest way and preferably so that if an entry is made on one calendar then it populates the other.
Thgius is beacuse I have my work diary on outlok, which I then link with my ical. I want to make sure that information is then shared with her.

I can no longer sync my iPhone 5 with 8.2 by wi-fi after installing Yosemite 10.10.2 and iTunes12.1.0.50. I can only sync by cable. Any solutions?

On the moment that I connect the Iphone 5 on Windows 8, it is not recognized by Itunes, but actually it appears as a usual USB cable, or as a camera. And then I can't synchronize the Iphone 5 with Itunes. So, what do i do?

If your iPhone is recognized by the computer, but not seen by iTunes, you may need to restart the Apple Mobile Device Service, as described in this article -

After I upgraded my Iphone 4 with the ios 7.1.1 it locks up while sending text messages. I can usually send a few then will have to restart my phone(often more than once) to get it to send and receive messages again. I have done a back up and complete reset and that has not fixed the problem. Have been told that the ios 7.1.1 just isn't compatible with the Iphone 4 so that's why it is locking up so often, but I am hoping someone else may have a better answer since it can't be undone. Thanks!
7.1.1 is certainly compatible with the iPhone 4. Just try a reset first.
Close all open apps by double-tapping the home button, then swiping up and off the screen with the app window (not the smaller icon).
Reset your device: hold down the home button along with the sleep/wake button until the screen goes black and you see the Apple, then let go. (No data loss) -
when i send a text message with my new iphone 5 to my wife who is now using my old Iphone 4 we both receive the message. How is this possible? Also she receives all text messages sent to me. She obviously has a different phone number and a different provider

hope this message finds you all in time. The recent Apple TV update 5.1 is terrible. Apple knows it is which is why (thankfully for some relentless user -I have no idea who but I believe it was under threat) they have allowed to sign 5.0.2 again which means you can downgrade your Apple TV 2 and 3 to a 5.0.2 version via iTunes. Who knows how long they will keep the window open but I have downgraded my ATV early this morning. I couldn't post this earlier because I was out all day but I am doing it now.
Here's how to do it:
1) Connect your ATV to your computer via a Mini USB (not included with ATV but included with many other electronic devices) - in order for your ATV to appear in iTunes you must FIRST plug the USB cable to your computer and ATV and only THEN plug the power cable.
2) Download your ipsw restore file from Apple.
5.0.2 (ATV 2): AppleTV2,1_5.0.2_9B830_Restore.ipsw
5.0.2 (ATV 3): AppleTV3,1_5.0.2_9B830_Restore.ipsw
3) In iTunes select yout ATV, hold SHIFT and click on Restore
4) Find and choose the downloaded IPSW file in the Open Dialog Box and hit Next
5) As long as Apple still signs that version the Restore process will begin and will take a few minutes to complete.
