Iphone iOS 7.1.2 update failure

The phone dowloaded the update & started the installation.
The phone restarted & then restarted the installation process a second time & has now halted.
Is my phone now broken?
Can I now demand a new phone from Apple, because they supply useless products made in China?
Can I now get my $1200 back from Apple, because their update has now broken my phone?

Well, you are really getting rather hysterical about nothing. Reset your device (nothing will be lost): Hold down the Home and Power buttons and continue to hold them down until the Apple appears. Once the reset is complete, the Home screen will redisplay. Go to Settings>About and check to see if your device is running the updated iOS. If it is not, try the update again.
People all over the world are slamming the servers right now. Nothing bad has happened....

I'm afraid that unless you are able to contact the previous owner and have him wipe the device, or provide you with his Apple ID password so you can delete the iCloud account, you are out of luck.
With iOS 7, an Activiation Lock was added to deter thieves. This lock prevents anyone but the owner of the device from deleting the iCloud account and restoring the device:

Unless you are able to reach the original owner and get the device wiped or the iCloud account deleted, you are stuck with a brick.

I had the same issue until I updated my apps through iTunes. I had over 100 updates, but none of them showed on my iPod. After they updated everything started syncing like it is supposed. Go to the apps library and check for updates. After everything syncs leave your iPhone/ipod/ipad connected if the spinning arrows at the top is still spinning. It means that things are still being added. If you go to settings > general > about, you will see it loading songs, videos, photos, etc. If you back out of "about" and then go back to it you will see the numbers for each one change.

I recently completed the iOS 6.0.1 update to my iPhone 4. After comparing my updated phone with my cousin's, I noticed a number of differences. First, his update gave him the option to shoot wide angle photos. Second, his map now has a voice function that speaks the directions. We both have the same phone, same provider. Mine indicates that software is up-to-date. Not only do I not have these new features, but the map itself is notably worse than what it was with the previous software: it does not automatically advance as you drive. Does anyone know what might have happened here? Thanks in advance.

Neither of the features you mention are available on the iPhone 4.
Just because the device is running iOS6 does not mean it gets all the features.

IOS 7.1.2 update failure on - No Sim

After I updated my iOS my iphone 4s can't read my SIM.

I'm hoping they figure out a fix for this soon, it's too much to just be a coincidence in my opinion. I hadnt bothered with the update until last week I figured why not update, it'll get rid of the irritating notification badge I had for so long. Sure enough that evening I had my first of probably 2-3 dozen SIM card failures in a week or so. Doing a hard restart will usually temporarily fix the issue but I'm sure I'm not the only person who realizes that this kind of bug could cause serious risks. For anyone trusting a reliable network connection in a life or death situation this is actually a very big problem. I never know when or where my phone will fail on me next. It's about a year and a half old and I haven't had a single issue with network until hours after this latest update. I will be doing my research from now on before updating. This post is more so for someone within Apple, and to support the legitimacy of the others, you should really take these network failure concerns seriously.

Since you have already done a restore of your iPhone, I would suggest that you now try restoring your iPhone to factory settings, set it up again and test before you restore your content. This article describes the process -

Trying to Restore Iphone, IOS 6.1.3 update Problems

I am trying to restore my ihpone. The latest software is updated to IOS 6.1.3, I tell itunes to restore my iphone. The restore function then tries to download the latest IOS 6.1.3, eventhough it has already been installed. Then while downloading IOS 6.1.3, although I don't need it, an error pops up and says it timed out.
How to I restore my iphone 4s?

There is nothing that you can do now except to restore the device. The iPad will not work until you restore the iOS. Don't your students backup? I would assume that iPads being used in the classroom would be backed up on a regular basis. If they do backup, you can restore the iOS, then restore from the student backup and either sync his content back to the iPad if you are using iTunes, or download it again in the various purchased tabs of the iStores on the iPad.

IOS 7.0.6 Update Failure!?!?!?!?!?

OK so, my iphone stated that it had a software update iOS 7.0.6. I went to the settings and clicked it. Its started updating fine. Then suddenly it stopped! I restarted it, put it on charge, and went to bed. 12 hours later, it's still stuck! What do I do???

If you are now seeing a screen with the USB cable and an iTunes logo, you'll need to connect your iPhone to a computer with iTunes installed, provided the data on your iPhone hasn't already been lost it should back-up once it's connected in iTunes.

IOS 6.1.4 update for iPhone 5?

I'm not understanding why the ios update which clearly states audio profile for speaker phone isn't allowed on the iphone 4 only the iphone 5. The last update screwed up the speakers on the iphone 4. So why would the update only be for the 5 when the 5 was not even out when this update took place and ruined the speakers? Can someone please make sence of this for me?

It obviously is because you didnt understand. The iphone 4's last update to IOS 6.1.3 in some cases caused the phones speakers to not work (in which this happened to mine and a few people I know) which some people got rid of their phones. HENCE the AUDIO UPDATE that they recently posted but only iPhone 5 can download the update. That is my problem. I have alot of apple products diesel vdub and have had apple for a long time but I can't seem to understand why they would do this and I posted this in hopes to find more people that have had this issue and if they did anything to help fix it this issue. Thank you for your concern though.

How can this problem be solved? Is there any way to go back to the previous version?

If you update using iTunes the phone is first wiped clean, then the new OS is installed, and finally the backup is restored. After this finishes if you sync your music should be restored. Music is not in the backup, because it is already on your computer and duplicating it would use up a lot of hard disk space.
An OTA update just patches what has changed; it does not disturb content.

Reset your iPhone. Hold the on/off and home buttons together for about 10 seconds till the Apple logo appears.
If you continue to have issues, try downloading the apps to iTunes on your computer, then sync your iPhone using iTunes.

Headphone remote not working after iOS 8.1.2 update on iPhone 5

After reviewing your post, I have located an article that can help with your iPhone's camera. It contains a number of troubleshooting steps and helpful advice for the issue you are experiencing:
Get help with the camera on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support
You see a closed lens or black screen
If you see a closed lens or black screen when you open the Camera app, try these steps:
Make sure that there’s nothing blocking the camera lens. If you’re using a case, try removing it.
Force the app to close, then open the Camera app again.
Restart your device, then open the Camera app again.
If your device has a front and rear camera, try both cameras by tapping (camera swap icon). If you see the closed lens or black screen on only one camera, take your device to an Apple Retail Store or Authorized Service Provider for more help.

Camera isn't functioning
If the screen shows a closed lens or black image, force quit the Camera app.
If you do not see the Camera app on the Home screen, try searching for it in Spotlight. If the camera does not show up in the search, check to make sure that Restrictions are not turned on by tappingSettings > General > Restrictions.
Ensure the camera lens is clean and free from any obstructions. Use a microfiber polishing cloth to clean the lens.
Third-party cases can interfere with the autofocus/exposure feature and the flash (iPhone 4 only); try removing the case if you have image-quality issues with photos.
Try turning iPhone off and then back on.
Tap to focus the camera on the subject. The image may pulse or briefly go in and out of focus as it adjusts.
Try to remain steady while focusing:
Still images: Remain steady while taking the picture. If you move too far in any direction, the camera automatically refocuses to the center. Note: If you take a picture with iPhone turned sideways, it is automatically saved in landscape orientation.
Video: Adjust focus before you begin recording. After recording begins, you cannot readjust focus until you stop recording. Exiting the Camera application while recording will stop recording and will save the video to the Camera Roll. Note: Video-recording features are not available on original iPhone or iPhone 3G.
If your iPhone has a front and rear camera, try switching between them to verify if the issue persists on both.
