Iphone ios 7.1 and outlook sync issue

Ever since I updated my iphone 5 to ios7, I can't sync it with my Outlook anymore. Can anyone offer help. I have read lots of post and tried many solutions but none seem to work.

Updates and resolution:
Had re-attempted a restoration of a 4s backup to an iPhone 4, thus the phone got updated to 7.1 but when it was done it was exhibiting the same reboot symptoms minus the passcode issues (after a restore that needs to be set up again). Attempted a reset by holding the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons for 10sec, then connected it to iTunes. The key difference: this time it was "Set Up as New iPhone". Then added a second keyboard and a alphanumeric passcode: tested it OK. After three days of light usage it has not crashed. At this point I am assuming the whole ordeal was due to a corruption propagated by image backups.
Q: does a backup image contain any system files?
Proceeded to reset my stubbornly uncooperative 4s, after several lengthy tries it got reset and also setup as a new iPhone. No apps have been added - it has been sitting idle for three days. There has been no crash but all the apps, accounts, configs etc have to be manually re-applied. Considering the previous issues reported as resolved.

Calendar and Outlook sync issues and inconsistencies

These issues have existed since my first iPhone (3GS) and Outlook 2007, and they continue today with my 5S and Outlook 2010:
1. When I add an appointment on my iPhone calendar, after I sync with my PC the appointment in my Outlook calendar has a 99 day alarm and is marked as private. I do not set either of these attributes when creating the appointment on my iPhone calendar.
2. Some all-day appointments that I create in Outlook show as 12am to 12am across two days on my iPhone calendar.
3. Some all-day appointments that I create in Outlook show as No Time on the iPhone, others show as the entire day.
4. After syncing through iTunes, some iPhone calendar items that have specific times get moved to the no time area in Outlook.
5. Notes for calendar appointments lose their formatting when I edit and update the note on my iPhone.
Looking for resolutions to the above annoyances.

There was a setting I hadn't found in the PC Companion software:
On the start sync page there is a settings heading next to a spanner on the righthand side - this takes you to sync settings
Select Personal Data Selection and then the properties button for Calendar
You can then set the sync to select all your appointments or a subset.
I hope that this helps someone - it has taken hours to find this setting!

Playback pauses and audio sync issues with live video stream

I'm seeing playback pauses about every three seconds and audio sync issues with our live demo stream when using the OSMF/Strobe player. It happens on both our 2Mbps 720p stream and our 480p 750Kbps stream so it does not seem to be related to higher resolution/bandwidth streams. It also happens if I point directly to a stream asset or if I point to a .f4v with both streams listed for dynamic so it does not seem to be related to dynamic streaming specifically.
The same live streams play back very well without pauses or audio sync issues in the Akamai's dynamic player and even slightly better with JW 5.2.
I have viewed the OSMF/Strobe playback on three different laptops of various age (3 months to 2 years) and two are Windows and one is Linux. I have also tried the various buffering options on the Flash Media Player Setup and Strobe setup and it has not made a noticeable difference.

I do not have JW set up for public viewing yet, but the two above show the distinct difference.
We are really hoping to start pointing our customers towards the OSMF player because of the support provided by the community and Adobe, but we have to get the quality of the playback to be acceptable first.

Hi Tim,
You need to add this setting:
dynamicStreamBufferTime=8
The actual value can be higher or lower. The best practice is to use a value that is twice the keyframe distance. Anyway, try different values and see which performs the best for your content.
I know that the setup page does not contain this option and it is not documented in the UserGuide. We simply missed it. Sorry.
Also note that the dynamic buffering algorithms are not being used for dynamic streaming content. I tried to explain this here:

TIMECODES are important for audio and video sync issues

Hello, just wanted to pass on what I learned so that others can avoid the trouble that I've had to go through. Perhaps this may help someone who is stuck on the launch pad. :)
BOTTOM LINE: Info for the beginner. Audio and video not in sync in Premiere Pro CS3 V3.2.0
PROBLEM: Capture works great it seems. When I go to the folder that contains the captured file and view in Windows Media Player audio and video are in sync. BUT when viewing the video asset in the source and program monitors, the audio and video are not in sync.
SOLUTION:
Before capturing a tape make certain the following is checked:
(1) Edit->Preferences->Capture->Use device control timecode
(2) Edit->Preferences->Device Control->Options->Timecode Format
(3) Project->Project Settings->General->Video->Display format
As for the devices timecode choose something other than Auto Detect. Then match the project timecode with what was chosen during capture. The projects display format could of course be set to frames.
I searched everywhere for audio and video sync issues in google, adobe forums, F1 help, and hv20.com and everyone was talking about:
(1) Presets: 1080p30 vs. 1080i30 (60i).
(2) brakes in the tape where timecode for the audio and video get misaligned during capture.
But choosing the correct hardware settings and timecodes to solve audio and video sync issues never popped up.

After I plug in my iphone to my laptop and it syncs, I cannot open my apps on the phone. They just vibrate. What am I not doing right?

Wham am I doing wrong? After I plug my iphone into my computer and it syncs, it will not let me open any of my apps. WHen I press them, they just vibrate and won't open. ANy ideas???

Is this the wiggling that you get when you hold down an app? If so, this is by design. When they wiggle, you can move them around. To stop them wiggling, just press the home button. Then you can just tap an app to open it.

IPhoto deleting issues and iTunes syncing issues with IOS 5 on my iPhone.

While upgrading to IOS 5 my iphone (3gs) would not allow me to restore to back up so I had to restore to original settings, ugh, losing everything on my iphone. Thought this wouldn't be a problem but iTunes won't let me pick and choose what music I want to add anymore even though I have "pick checked music only" checked. It refers now only to full albums, etc, instead of whatever songs I want from each album. I had to create specific playlists with all the music I wanted on my iphone. And it only added one playlist. I have loads of space on my iPhone so don't know what the issue is. Does anyone know why I cannot add more than one playlist?
Also, I discovered I can't delete iPhoto pics on my iphone. I can trash whatever I add to my Camera Roll but nothing else. I had to designate a specific folder for pictures from iphoto to be added to iphone and those I cannot delete. Anyone know what to do here as well?

It's inside the iPhoto Library package. Open it from the Finder as show in this screenshot:
Then drag the iPod Photo Cache folder to the Trash, close the package, launch iPhoto and try again.

ITunes Match and iOS 7.0.3 Upgrade - Syncing Issue

I subscribe to iTunes Match for my iPhone 4S. However, I still sync photos, videos, etc from my computer. During both the update to 7.0.3 and 7.0.2, my phone has taken an interminable amount of time to sync after upgrading the iOS. During the last upgrade, i left the phone to sync overnight and found that it had deleted all of the music that I had downloaded to my device - or at least sort of. It was showing these songs as not on the device, however they seemed to still be taking up drive space. Many albums I had downloaded were now showing each track duplicated - one iTunes match version with the cloud next to it, and one downloaded to the device. After trying to remedy the issue many different ways, I found that thing that worked was to erase and restore the phone from back-up, thereby deleting all the music on my device and requiring me to again download songs from the cloud. I just finally got my music collection in good working order again with most of the music I listen to most recently on my device - and now with this latest upgrade it appears I will have to start all over again.
Has anyone else been having this issue? Is this a known problem? Am I doing something wrong?

nope no errors. it goes through the whole syncing processing, saying it's backing up the iphone and what not, but nothing happens on the iphone. i'm thinking i should just restore my iphone, right?

I have 8.1 and iTunes and its working. My cloud doesn't so I had to remove the 'sync contacts and calendar to the cloud' and to back to the old say, but I just synced my iPad and iPos (both running 7.0.3) last night and it worked.
There are features with 8.1 that may be messing things up. For example there's a setting when you upgrade to 8.1 where you can turn off the automatic install of drivers. With devices, every time the iOS and iTunes updates there is a new driver to make your device visible on a computer. If you turn off that auto install then you may have blocked your computer from getting that driver.
In addition, with iOS7 there came the 'do you trust this computer' which is a choice you have to make on your device. If you tell your device no, then it may have issues connecting to your computer.

Syncing Iphone to Windows 7 and Outlook...

I recently formatted my PC and thought that I had exported all my details from Microsoft Outlook in the correct pst file, turns out I only exported my calender....My contacts and Calender however are still safe on my Iphone....Basically what I want to know is, is there a way to connect my iphone and for itunes to read my iphone and put all the info it has stored ie, music, contacts, calender etc...back into the correct places, am I right in thinking that If I sync my ipod to itunes now it will read Outlook, see there are no contacts and basically wipe the contacts from my phone?

With contacts and calendar events, yes, but not with any iTunes content. The sync process for iTunes content is a one way transfer process only. No iTunes content is kept synchronized as is possible with contacts and calendar events with a supported application on your computer.
Before syncing contacts and calendar events with Outlook, enter one contact and one calendar event in Outlook. Make these up if needed, which can be deleted later. This will provide a merge prompt with the first sync for this data, which you want to select.
In regards to iTunes content, an iPhone can be synced with an iTunes library on a single computer and photos can be transferred from a single computer only. When transferring iTunes content and photos from another computer, all iTunes content and photos transferred from a different computer will be erased from the iPhone first. By reformatting your PC which is a regular and required procedure with Windows, your computer is now detected as a new or different computer by your iPhone.
Did you include your iTunes library with your computer's backup? If so and you followed the simple instructions included with this link for doing so and restored your iTunes library from said backup, no iTunes content on your iPhone will be erased with the first sync. Your computer will not be detected as a new of different computer now.

If you didn't include your iTunes library with your computer's backup, iTunes includes an option to transfer iTunes content that was purchased/downloaded from the iTunes store from an iPod or iPhone, but this is for iTunes content that was purchased/downloaded from the iTunes store only. First you need to re-authorize your computer with your iTunes account with iTunes. With your iPhone connected and without syncing, at the iTunes menu bar go to File and select Transfer Purchases From - the name of your iPhone.

both my iphone and ipad stopped syncing with my computer (pc). The ipad never charged from my pc anyway but the iphone did. anyone else having this issue?

I fugured out that deleting from iPad does not delete from iPhone and whatever data is there is cloud will be retained for iPhone.

Iphone and ical syncing issues

My iphone 3GS seems to be creating double all of the ical entries? I have recently updated to the new mobileme calendar but this was happening just before also.
I enter ical events on both my mac book pro and my iphone. Ical does not double the events but the iphone does.
Anyone else had this issue or know what could be causing it??

There's a whole "encyclopedia" in these forums about this problem. Suggest you search here for something like "iCal event duplication" and you should find a good bit of helpful information.
That said, I had similar problems with my iPhone 3G and then my iPhone 4, and it basically came down to MobileMe issues. My best advice would be to look first to see whether or not the calendar on your MBP agrees with the one on MobileMe - I'm betting you'll find issues there for which the phone is just a display medium. It will probably be necessary for you to reset your sync data and clean out either the iCal data or the data in MM Calendar.

Iphone and outlook contact issue

Whenever I enter or edit a contact on my iphone it shows up in outlook with the first name, last name reversed = Smith,John. I have changed settings in outlook from file as field both ways to no avail. Anyone else having this problem, any fix?

I was having the exact same problem. Connect iPhone 3g and Canon CameraWindow would open with a notification that no camera was attached.
I found a setting in ImageCapture which controls what happens when you connect a camera. In the preferences menu, just select none. Problem fixed.

More Outlook syncing issues

I know that this issue seems to be beaten to death on this forum, but I haven't been able to find another topic that's explaining exactly the problem that I'm seeing. I have tried all of the tips that I could, both directly from Apple's articles and on this forum. I've uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes and the Apple Mobile Device Support, disabled all other Outlook add-ins, deleted all of my recurring events in Outlook, created a new empty Outlook .pst file, and probably a few other hints that I've seen here.
No matter what I do, when I click to the "Info" tab under my iPhone in iTunes, I get the message that says "OutlookSyncClient has encountered a problem and needs to close." I can close the message, but as expected I get the same thing when I try to initiate a sync. I believe that it will actually bring up that message twice - once when it tries to initiate a contacts sync, and again when it tries to do a calendar sync.
I do not have iTunes set to automatically sync. As with many other users, syncing used to work for me, and then it stopped a couple of months ago (I think around the same iTunes update that seems to have broken the others). I'd love it if someone has anything different for me to try; I feel like I'm out of ideas at this point. I don't think that it would make any difference, but I don't have any problems syncing to my Mac at home. This Windows PC is my work machine. Thanks!

Although this doesn't really go towards solving my problems, I did try going back and installing iTunes 7.3.2, which some people have said is the last version where Outlook syncing worked. Unfortunately, that version won't connect to my iPhone with the latest firmware; it gives me a message that I must have at least version 7.4 installed. So, I'm "stuck" with the most up-to-date iTunes.
Any ideas on the problems in the original post?

Calendar / Outlook Sync issues

Since the recent upgrade to Yosemite i have had problems with the syncing of Calendar and outlook. In short my calendar is generally used for personal appointments however I have added in my work outlook account so that i can see all appointments, and receive reminders through the notifications bar.
I seem to get the following error message each time a change is made in the calendar.
Can anyone help me get rid of this error message, its upsetting my OCD??

It's hard to say without knowing exactly what she's doing. You're going to have to watch what she does and teach her the correct ways as necessary. The first thing you might want to do is put the assistant's calendar in online mode instead of
cached mode, and make sure that she doesn't use cached copies of the executives' calendars.
Calendaring often is problematic when you have multiple fingers in the same calendar all working different kinds of devices and software at various versions and revisions.

In particular, try to have just one person on one client platform making all updates to calendars.

Q10 MS Outlook Syncing Issues

Bought the Q10 a month ago. Generall, I like it ok -- requires some routine adjustments, but I like it ok.
I use the Q10 for business -- and my company has not (and probably will not) upgrade to their server to new BB required server software.
So, with that, I noted some syncing issues -- the two way syncing between Outlook and the BB is limited.
1. MS Outlook Email: Generally syncs -- although when i reply to an email on BB, it does not indicate that I replied on MS Outlook.
2. MS Outlook Calendar: Syncs one way only -- from MS Outlook to BB. But, BB entries do not sync to MS Outlook.
3. MS Outlook Contacts: Same as MS Outlook Calendar.
4. MS Outlook Tasks: Sames as MS Outlook Calendar and Contacts.
Can anyway help?

I find that syncing with BlackBerry Link definitely isn't perfected though it is getting better with every version.
Two thoughts...
1) there is a setting what to do with conflicts. Check what you have for that setting. Unfortunately it's a general setting right now. You choose which version to use in the event of conflict.. device, Outlook or do nothing. Unless you always do updates on one location, there is no choice but to choose to do nothing.
(2) If you copy your contacts, calendar etc to a Outlook.Com (Hotmail) account and add that account to MS Outlook and your device (choosing to sync contacts, calendar, etc, you can achieve an even better sync. It will happen automatically (with a reasonable delay to your on the fly changes) and there is no need to use Link to sync again.
